ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

Ho, ho, ho! How are y’all doing with your holiday shopping? I hope you all find what you’re looking for with ease. I got this in a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting until now. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

I actually like the bag for this month eve though I feel overall it’s a little flimsy. It’s perfect for the holiday season and I do love shiny things. First item that caught my eye is the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I am familiar with this brand and I’ve been running low on eye creams so this is a good one for me to try soon. Next we have the Lottie London AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. Some other ipsters got Mocha. Then we have the F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E. I have to retake the quiz again as I keep getting these makeup brushes when I have no use for them since I already have enough. The good news is my niece will benefit from this predicament as she’s really into makeup now, so I tossed this into a makeup bag filled with makeup extra goodies for her. Next up is the Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I don’t use makeup primers much but have been stashing some over the years to test with to compare quality and effectiveness. Then we have The Beauty Crop Lip Brulee. The shade everyone got is called Rhubarb Custard. I thought this has a matte velvet finish but I looked it up and saw that it actually has a shine to it. Still, it looks like more of a lip stain than a lip gloss to me. Last up is the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream. It says it’s good for sensitive skin so I anticipate no problems when trying this out as soon as I run out of my current facial moisturizer.

I liked most of what I got so here’s to hoping the bags in 2019 will keep up this trend!

ipsy June 2018 Glam Bag

A little late again but better late than never! Ever since I started Pokemon Go from scratch last week, all my free time has been devoted to it. I finished with the Articuno raid with my co-worker friend Lohan and a bunch of his friends. I used all raid passes and I realized I have to get used to being in raids more (I forgot to use the golden razz!!!). Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy June 2018 Glam Bag

The bag I got is nice (ignore the fly on one of the products — the picture above was the best products group shot). It’s a material that will repel drops of water when it comes in contact. Very good to have those on hand. First item that caught my eye is the FORMULA 10.0.6 Three Times Sublime. I love face masks and this one is described on ipsy as “a cleanser, exfoliant, and face mask (yup, all three) that treats blemishes, removes blackheads, unclogs pores, and controls oil.” Next item that caught my eye is the MAKE UP FOR EVER STEP1 Skin Equalizer Primer. I’ll try it out to see how it smoothes out my large pores. Then we have the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Eye Repair Cream. I’ve has great experience using the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream so I have high hopes for this. Next we have the Kaleido Cosmetics Skin Blush. ipsy subscribers got this in either Prom Queen or Primadonna, which is what I got. Last up is the Estate Cosmetics Lip Icing. The shade I got is called Goodie.

Not bad again! Next month’s bag should be out in transit to me shortly and I can’t wait cause I saw what the makeup bag looks like and it looks really nice. I hope the material is nice too.

ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag

I know, I know…it’s October already! But I already took the pictures a while back and rather have them go to waste I’ll just make a quick post about it. Here’s what I got in my ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag

The bag itself is pretty different from what I’ve come to expect from ipsy for years. I like how it’s edgy. First item that caught my eye is the NEOGEN Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop. I love trying out new facial serums. This is on my next to try as soon as I free up a spot for it in my facial care regimen. Next is Ciaté London Wonderwand Mascara. The shade I got this in is called Black Magic. I think this is the only shade this particular product item comes in for now though. Then we have the Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Radiance Primer. I don’t use primer much but I do testing with it to compare how it fares with other primers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s just a “thing” of mine. Next we have the The Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream. I’m finishing up something from Philosophy right now and I’ll make sure this is next or the one after the next face cream I use. Last up is Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Lip Gloss. The shade I got this in is Nude Beach. I got too many lip stuff open so I’ll add this to my gifting pile. It’s a nice shimmery shade with a gold duochrome flash.

Overall, pretty good. There’s a lot of stuff I will be using in this month’s bag.

NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait

How are you guys doing today? Hope y’all are having a great week. I can’t wait for the weekend already! I stumbled on this item I got from my Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box today and thought I’d give it a review here. Here’s what I think of NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait.

NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait

NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait (in shade)

NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait (direct sunlight)

NYX Butter Gloss Strawberry Parfait (with flash)

What I love about this product? The scent of this product is on the light side. It’s a hint of vanilla bakery sweetness. The shade is a darker pink bordering fuchsia or magenta but not quite as bright. It is not sticky at all like some other lip glosses, so that gets a thumbs up from me. It goes on nice and smooth with the doe foot applicator. Swatches shown above are one swipe and two swipes from left to right.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing at all! This brand is fairly easy to find and purchase and the quality is pretty good for the price.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.

NYX Butter Gloss Éclair

While digging through my purse I found a gem that I’ve been using on and off randomly that I got from my ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag. Here’s what I think of NYX Butter Gloss Éclair.

NYX Butter Gloss Éclair

NYX Butter Gloss Éclair (in shade)

NYX Butter Gloss Éclair (direct sunlight)

NYX Butter Gloss Éclair (with flash)

What I love about this product? Oooh! Yum, yum! The scent of this product is light with a touch of sweetness. It’s almost like strawberry vanilla or something. It makes me think of strawberries and cream and cupcakes. The shade itself is pretty light when applied on as a gloss with the doe foot applicator. Éclair is a pale pink shade that makes me think of words like “dusty rose” and “vintage”. It is not sticky like some lip glosses, so that’s a huge relief for me. I don’t expect much staying power from this being that it’s a gloss so the wear is normal to me compared to other lip glosses. Applying it a little thicker makes the color of the product more prominent but it’s not opaque by any means. Swatches shown above are one swipe and two swipes from left to right. The shot taken under the shade isn’t as accurate as the under direct sunlight one and the one with flash due to change in lighting.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing at all! This brand is fairly easy to find and purchase and the quality is pretty good for the price.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.

Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box

So I actually almost forgot I have this beauty box subscription until an email asked if I wanted to switch it up for something special or stay with whatever setting I have already made in my account. I didn’t want to mess with it so I opted to just stay with my current setting. This popped in my mailbox about a week ago. Here’s what I got in my Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box.

Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box

Overall, pretty good stuff. In fact, as soon as I saw the lip product I knew that I had to give it to my sister from another mister Renuky. 🙂 It became part of her flip book goodies, which by the way is so much fun to make and hers is the first one I’ve given out so far. I made one for her birthday. 🙂 The shade seems light enough to suit her especially with it being a lip gloss. The first thing I’m trying out is the whitening toothpaste as we’ve been using regular whitening toothpaste and I’m not really seeing any difference so it’s time to change it up!

John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Moisturizing Conditioner

Dove Advanced Care Cool Essentials Antiperspirant

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine

Biore Baking Soda Acne Scrub

Colgate Optic White Radiant Toothpaste

Schwarzkopf Gliss Ultra Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

Stay tuned for reviews on most of these items!

ipsy January 2017 Glam Bag

Happy Sunday! I got this in about a week ago but didn’t get around to taking pictures until this weekend. It’s not a bad start of the year with ipsy! Here’s my take on the ipsy January 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy January 2017 Glam Bag

The bag is something out of the box for me. It grew on me though and I can’t wait to use it. It’s the material mostly but it grew on me more by now and it kinda looks sporty! First item that caught my eye is the -417 Hand Moisturizer. I haven’t used it yet but I’m a sucker for hand creams and moisturizers especially at this time of the year. Next up is the Pretty Woman Nail Polish. The shade I got this in is called I Can’t Deal. It looks to me like a greige type of shade, not really my thing but I know someone who would look good with this shade. Then we have the Smashbox Cosmetics Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35. The shade I got this in is LIGHT/MEDIUM, which I think it the right one for me. I don’t use this type of product much but BB creams can be worn alone like a moisturizer, if I remember right, so I’ll give it a shot as such. Next we have the Trust Fund Beauty Lip Gloss. The shade I got this in is called Method To The Madness. It looks to be a pretty coral shade but I’m not sure if I’m going to keep this or not. As I said many times in my past ipsy Glam Bag posts, I have too many lip products open already. Last up is The Vintage Cosmetic Company Rose Gold Tweezers. I’m glad that I got this in my bag as everything about the product caught my eye — the packaging, the color, the item itself and more. I found out that it’s a brand that didn’t originate in the US, so I’m glad for the opportunity to try something from them. I will be putting these to the test tonight!

Overall, not bad! Next month is Valentine’s Day month and I think they usually do something around that theme for the bag. I’m really excited to see what it may be!

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme

Hey guys! I’m off to a great start so far for this weekend but I wanted to share my thoughts on something I’ve tried a few times recently. Today’s post is on something I got from my ipsy September 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme (in box)

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme

What I love about this product? I love that the packaging is easy to carry around and stash it in my purse. This is basically an iridescent lip gloss that gives you slight plumping that’s of a more natural look. I love how glossy the finish is on the lips. It’s slightly sticky on the lips — definitely not as sticky as other glosses I’ve used. The first time I used this product, I tested it on the right side of my lips to compare if it really does anything. It immediately started tingling and it’s not just a minty type of tingle. It actually has a pain level to it but nothing I couldn’t endure. What is surprising is that sensation lasted for about 7 minutes on me. It didn’t show much plumping really in my opinion but my right side of the lips are definitely redder (from the stinging I imagine). I guess the effect is really subtle. Everyone’s pain threshold is different so what is stinging to me might be really painful or not at all to others. I think this is what I commonly read on what people have to say about it. Be careful not to get it anywhere else as it does sting too when it comes into contact with your skin (I went over my lip line once and that area reddened immediately). I personally like the smell, which is strawberry-ish with a hit of vanilla or something.

What I don’t like about this product? I wish that it would last longer on the lips. The formula is the kind that wears off easily and fast. The science behind it to me is that the stinging is basically the reason why the lip plumps up with use. I personally don’t care for that. Plus, this one stings more than others I’ve sampled in the past with less visible results. I’ll use this one I have until it’s all gone but I personally won’t be purchasing it.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried at other retailers too as seen listed here.

Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss

Hey guys! Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re all doing great today! I’ve taken a short break away from posting due to real life stuff but I’m back now in the swing of things. I have a lot to share in such a short amount of time so I’ll get right on it. I was sent the Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set for review a few months back and here’s my take on the Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss.

Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Glosses

Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Glosses (lighting changed)

What I love about this product? It comes beautifully packaged in a standard type of tube container with a doe foot applicator that lip glosses come in. The lids are a beautiful ombre shade. I love it. The formula for this is surprisingly not as sticky as I thought it would be. There is a slight tackiness to it but definitely not much compared to lip glosses from other brands that comes in a similar tube packaging. I personally don’t find the shades too sparkly but I enjoy quite a bit of sparkle more than anyone I know. The shades I got are Simmer and Spark. Both are light in color so it’s a true gloss per se. See swatches below in different lighting (I apologize in advance for the in shade shot….it’s the only clear shot I was able to get in that lighting and it leans very red). These lasted on me for hours even when sipping water quite often.

Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss Simmer and Spark (lighting changed)

Borghese Eclissare Color Eclipse ColorGlass Lip Gloss Simmer and Spark (with flash)

What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be really picky….maybe how much shimmer it has? I mean, I don’t care — I use this at work and stuff but I know my friends and co-workers shy away from any sign of shimmer — especially when at work. It’s not very subtle compared to some other lip glosses I’ve tried that has some shimmer. I personally find the shimmer nice as it “brightens” up my face sort of.

More information on this item and other things the brand offers is available on their website here.

Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set

Hey guys! This week was super hectic. I even worked some today and it’s a Saturday! Hopefully it’ll be over soon. It just makes me look forward to my upcoming staycation even more. I was sent this recently. It was a total surprise really! I just got the package one day — so thank you Borghese! There will be detailed reviews on each product as time goes on but for now, here’s what you get with the Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set.

Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set

This set is currently available still on their website and is on sale! The sale price is actually a very good deal that I would’ve taken advantage of if the set I have wasn’t sent to me. The item I am most excited about in this set is surprisingly the palette. The only makeup item I’ve used from Borghese is their nail polish and I love their formula and colors. But other than that, I know the brand more for their skin care products. The lipcolor is in the shade Grappa while the lip glosses are in shades Spark and Simmer. The eye liner is in the shade Pitch Black. Enough yappin’ here and let’s get to the goods.

Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box

While I I loved most of the items from the Target Head Of The Class 2015 Beauty Box, I couldn’t resist getting this one as well. Here’s the Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box.

Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. For $5, again, you really can’t go wrong. I almost didn’t get it (just like the Head Of The Class beauty box released at the same time) and I’m glad that I did.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment

CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Primer

NYX Butter Gloss

The Bathery Delicate Bath Sponge

Olay Fresh Outlast® Cooling White Strawberry & Mint Body Wash

Goody Ouchless Elastics

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes

I gave the elastics from the other box away so I’m keeping this one of myself. The item I am most excited to try is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. The first item I opened and used is the NYX Butter Gloss. The shade I got is Strawberry Parfait. I’ve been using a bath mitt for a while now so a bath pouf (they call it sponge but I call those things poufs) would be nice for a change. I actually think I’ll be using every single thing in this box. All in all, I like this beauty box better and as usual it does come with a $3 off $15 coupon on beauty items to use at Target.

Target Head Of The Class 2015 Beauty Box

While I still have most of the items from the Target Summer 2015 Beauty Box untouched still, I couldn’t resist when they rolled out 2 more beauty boxes recently. Here’s the Target Head Of The Class 2015 Beauty Box.

Target Head Of The Class 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. For $5, you really can’t go wrong. I almost didn’t get it and am so glad that I did. I see myself using most of these items.

Hollywood Fashion Tape®

Goody Ouchless Elastics

The Bathery 2-in-1 Pumice Stone

Wet ‘n’ Wild Max Volume Plus Mascara

Herbal Essences Illuminating Dry Oil Spray

Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Facial Towelettes

CoverGirl Colorlicious Lip Gloss

I gave the elastics and the towelettes to my co-worker sis Renu as part of a small thank you gift for all the driving she’s done the past month. She uses both items so it’ll be put to good use. I am most excited to try the dry oil spray. I’ve tried one from another brand and loved it. Moderation is key though when using those. I’m passing on the mascara and the lip gloss to my nieces probably. I have too many of those open already. All in all, not bad at all and it does come with a $3 off $15 coupon on beauty items to use at Target.

I have their other box to feature later on (I got them a day apart). They’re really stepping up their beauty box game I must say!

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

I recently got this in the mail and was going to take product shots on Sunday but was very busy with household chores. It was sunny and my husband actually got us a new game from Steam so he chipped in and took the product shots for me as I finished up the household chores. Bless his heart! He didn’t use the zoom function that I always do and actually even took product shots of the lotion foil packet sample as well as the fragrance vial sample. I would’ve skipped both of those but I can’t really complain with free help right? Here’s what I got with my Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box.

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box. There is one more item in this box than I’m used to, making this a pretty good deal for $5.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo

Neutrogena CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 70

NIVEA Soft Moisturizing Creme

NYC Liquid Lipshine Lip Gloss

Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash

Jergens Natural Glow

One Direction You & I Perfume

This is much better than the last box, Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box. The extra item contributed greatly to that and the samples are more applicable to me than the previous boxes. The coupons are nice too in this box.

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

My Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box came in right after I got back from my honeymooniversary. I missed out on their Winter 2014 one but I saw this when I was looking through my Instagram feed one day when I was at St. John and quickly grabbed my wallet and ordered it with the rental’s Wi-fi. I was so happy that my order went through and the email confirmation showed up in my inbox. I was really happy with last year’s box shown here. I hoped this box is just as good if not better and it did not disappoint! Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

L’Oréal Infallible® Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray

Maybelline COLOR ELIXIR™ BY COLOR SENSATIONAL®

TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hair Spray

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

I was excited to see the hair products the most. The first item I’ll end up using is probably the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream. I got 5 things for $5 shipped, which is really good. There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I hope none are damaged as the dry shampoo I got with last year’s box was a dud. It wouldn’t spray anything at all so it must’ve been damaged during shipping or something.

Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items.

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set

The Holiday season is long over but I’m only getting to some of the stuff I got during that time right now. There is just so many new things that beauty companies bring out for that time of the year. They are big sellers of course being that most of them are seasonal so they’re limited edition. Today’s post is on one of those kind of items. I mentioned it in my Holiday 2014 Shopping Ideas post earlier, here’s Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set.

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set

I wasn’t actually going to get this until the after Holiday sales kicked in, but that would mean I chance it selling out. I didn’t get the ULTA exclusive set from Tarte for 2013 and kinda regret that. I didn’t want that to happen again so I picked this up when ULTA had one of their 20% off sale on everything. This retailed for $48 before tax, which is a pretty good value since the bulk of this set consists of their Amazonian clay eye shadows and blushes. As I mentioned before, I really like the feel of their Amazonian clay products on my skin. In my opinion, it’s very lightweight with decent lasting power. The portable case to hold the quadrant of eye shadows and blush selected is very cute! The pearls accent and the Tiffany blue kind of color for the case gives me the feel of luxury. I know that the shot with the eye shadow and blush names isn’t clear where the text is because of the shadow, but hopefully you can still make out what it says for the most part.

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set (unboxed)

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set Eye Shadows & Blushes (direct sunlight)

Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set Eye Shadows & Blushes (with shade names)

I don’t know if I’ll be picking any more Tarte stuff up after this just cause I don’t use makeup that much. I haven’t even used any of this at all. I definitely don’t regret picking this up though! 🙂

ipsy February 2015 Glam Bag

Hey guys! It’s that time of the month again thanks to ipsy! I got this month’s bag a few days ago and it didn’t wow me intially, but I did like it better than last month’s bag shown here. Here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2015 Glam Bag.

ipsy February 2015 Glam Bag

I like the color and print of the bag this month. The material isn’t close to giving any protection from water and the likes though like some of their past bags. But that’s okay. It suited the theme of Valentine’s for this month. The first item that caught my eye was the Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray. I’ve been trying to refocus on taking better care of my hair for almost 2 months now. I had my husband chop a good amount off to get rid of the dead ends and unhealthy bits. In my current rotation to use after I wash my hair are Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner and Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive. I can’t wait to try this out since I’ve had a good experience with this brand so far in the past (see Curtain Call: Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask). Next item that caught my eye is the CARGO Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss. The shade I got is called Anguilla. I’ve seen a lot of beauty bloggers talk about Cargo Cosmetics, but it’s not a brand that I’ve went out of my way to search for and stuff. I did get a deluxe sample of their blush from an ULTA bag freebie last year but I haven’t gotten around to try it. It looks to be a pretty pink color. I think I’ll keep it sealed to add to someone’s goody bag as an extra in a gift or for a giveaway. I have too many lip glosses open as it is right now. The most intriguing item to me is the “Pencil Me In” Cosmetics Natural Eye Liner Pencil. It’s because this product comes with a built in sharpener on the cap. It looked differently than usual eye pencils, so it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I have too many eye liner items out already, so this will go into the same pile as the lip gloss. Next item up is ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder. The shade I got is in Peach Bellini. It looks to be a very wearable pretty coral shade. I’ll hold off on opening it for a while though. I have to check my stash to make sure I don’t already have something very similar to it. The lighting of the picture below is just horrible, so you can’t see the real color of the blush. The group shot above is more color accurate for that. Last item is the one that didn’t quite fit into the bag. It’s the Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504. I’ve never heard of this brand and if I didn’t have the makeup brushes I do right now — I’d actually use it. The handle is light pink in color and the brush bristles is very light and fluffy.

Curtain Call: Josie Maran Argan High Gloss Lip Quench

Hey guys! Today’s post is on another segment of Curtain Call. I had to toss this product out yesterday because it started to smell a little bit more off than I’m comfortable with. I just don’t go through this type of product very fast since I have a lot of them open at any given time. Here’s my updated take on the Josie Maran Argan High Gloss Lip Quench.

At 8 ml / 0.3 fl oz, this retailed for $16 wherever sold. I say “retailed” because I don’t see it anymore on the retailers I’ve known to carry this brand. As mentioned before on my initial review post here, the description on their website reads the following:

“Saturate your lips with Argan Oil, the liquid gold of Morocco. This 100% natural, moisturizing lip gloss also contains nourishing Jojoba Oil to condition and prevent dryness and chapping, and buriti oil an all natural skin soother with rich levels of oleic acid that promote skin nutrition and lock in moisture.

Worn alone or over your favorite lip color, this gloss provides a pop of transparent shine. 8 ml / 0.3 fl oz

Josie’s Tips: Apply on top of Magic Marker Lip Stain to refresh color and create a glossy finish.”

Josie Maran Argan High Gloss Lip Quench

Verdict? The focus of this review is my thoughts on this as I get to the end of the life of this product. It’s stickier than I remembered when I started using it. It still works as expected in keeping moisture to my lips, but at the very end it doesn’t feel like it’s much different from other lip glosses I’ve tried. Maybe the novelty of it has worn off or time has aged the product a little. The only reason I had to toss it with less than 1/4 left in the tube is that it started smelling different to the point that I’m ready to just move on with other stuff. It didn’t smell rancid yet, but it’s at a point where I’m ready to let it go. I didn’t expect it to last as long as other brands because of the sheer fact that other brands use preservatives to prolong the life of a product. The Josie Maran brand boasts in being natural and eco-friendly. For the price it goes for, I was determined to use this up all the way but I keep getting new lip products to try out so this was only revisited occasionally.

This item retailed for $16 and was available on their website as well as other retail locations such as Sephora. To check for other retail locations where products from her line are carried, click here.

ipsy November 2014 Glam Bag

Hey guys! It’s getting colder every single day. For my sanity, the tree is up and half of the presents are all wrapped and stuck under the tree. Yes, a reindeer died cause of that but guess what? I won’t have time to put up the tree after Thanksgiving. I just wanted it out of the way. I’m waiting for more stuff to come in to wrap them up when I stumbled upon another problem — I ran out of wrapping paper. Oh! How did this ever happen?! I have hundreds of ribbons and bows but no wrapping paper. I’m guessing I didn’t see it as a high priority item when I shopped from the after Christmas sales last year and I should’ve. Lesson learned. So with that happening, I had time in my hands to take a few pictures of what I got in my ipsy November 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy November 2014 Glam Bag

The first item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott you’re so FINE Eyeliner. The shade I got is Glitterati. The packaging caught my eye and while I’m eager to try this out, I have many products already in this category so I’ll toss this as an add-on to a Christmas gift for one of my nieces. Next item up is the TEMPTU S/B Highlighter. The packaging makes me think of baby milk bottles — it’s so cute! The shade I got is Pink Pearl. I have used highlighters before just to see how it works and I’ll be sure to try this one out. Then we have L.A. Colors Chunky Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Wine. I saw this and immediately thought of my niece that loves lip products, so I’ll be saving this one up for her. The consistency is said to be between a lipstick and a lip gloss, which reminds me of the Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain. I wasn’t too happy when I saw that I got the Demeter Pixie Dust Roll On Perfume Oil. While I loved some of their scents, they usually give me a headache shortly after application. I’ll save this one up for an extra in a gift or something. The last item in my bag is my favorite out of everything I got this month. I got the Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Guys & Galaxies, which is an ipsy exclusive shade. I love this shade! It’s glitter and very pretty. The bag this month is a cute silver glitter zip top made by clothing and accessories brand Forever21 for ipsy. Material is like a plastic coated type where liquids roll of easily — a bonus feature to me.

While this bag has been the most disappointing one in months I’m still a huge fan of ipsy. I mean, I did like some of the products I got and it’s just a matter of what I can use more sometimes. This month’s offering just doesn’t apply to me as much, but with such great bags for months now….I can’t really get mad at ipsy for missing the mark in terms of personalization with this one. I can’t wait now for next month’s bag!

NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color Roosevelt Island Red 052

Today’s blog post is on something new I’ve tried from NYC. If you remember my post on their fantastic lipstick here, this is basically a “wetter” or more moist version of that product. It’s not a lipstick but it’s not fully a lip gloss either. Here’s NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color.

NYC City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color Roosevelt Island Red 052

This is described as the following on their website:

“Just twist, glide and go! NYC New York Color City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color is here to give your lips a modern and fresh touch. Treat yourself to intense colors for hours with its wide range of amazing shades. With its shiny, stay-put finish, this lip color will become your go-to for an instant twist of color. You will love its beyond-cool pen format for an easy application. Feel the touch of silk on your lips!”

Swatches shown below shows a lone swipe then 2 and then 3 from left to right to show how buildable it is with more layers and pigmentation.

Verdict? The shade I got is Roosevelt Island Red 052. While I love red shades this just simply does not hold a candle to their NYC Expert Last Lip Color line. With that said, I kind of mentioned earlier that this is almost like a cross between a lipstick and lip gloss. Formula is very moisturizing and slick. The slip is more than one would encounter with most lipsticks. It’s not sticky at all and is lightly scented just like the shade I got from their other line. Again, I can’t nail down what the scent is really but it reminds me of candy. Just like the lipstick, it’s not too strong and it dissipates pretty quick. I get about 4 hours of wear from this before having to reapply it. That’s not bad really for this type of product. I get less though if I eat or drink something. Color payoff is surprisingly better than expected for this type of product and the shine is simply amazing. Another thing I like with this is that I don’t experience as much feathering as I would when using a lipstick. It’s very easy to use and convenient — just apply and go.

I’ve posted on my Instagram account here what it looks like on me with several coats.

It retails for about $2.99 or so and you can get them for an even cheaper price when they go on sale or you use coupons on them. This can be found in chain drugstores and mass merchandisers nationwide.

ipsy October 2014 Glam Bag

Hey guys! It’s almost the weekend again and I’m very much looking forward to it! I’ve done some major damage in terms of shopping the past few days, but how can I resist with all these F&F and 20% off everything sales? I placed an order already with Sephora and ULTA (and that’s on top of my recent ULTA run to take advantage of the BOGO Freeman masks in-store). I also got the second Freeman Mystery Bag I ordered and this one came with the “mystery treat for feet” items. It definitely made me wish I ordered some last year cause it was so much better in terms of being a deal, but at least I got in on the deal this year. I’d regret it even more next year if the price goes up again! But anyway, here’s everything that I got from my ipsy October 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy October 2014 Glam Bag

The first item that caught my eye is the ECRU New York Acacia Protein BB Cream Beauty Balm for Hair. BB Cream for hair? The packaging looks so elegant that thoughts about it being a gimmick stopped screaming in my head (it’s still in the back of my head, but I’m trying very hard to be unbiased without trying it out first). I’ll be using this shortly and provide a review on this for sure. The next item is the Starlooks Lip Gloss. The shade everyone got is Guilty Pleasure. It looks to be a pretty shade, but I’ll save this up for my niece that loves lip products. Up next is Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths. To be honest, this is the item I wasn’t too thrilled that I got initially. I never really use products like this, but I’ve heard a few girls rave about it so far after getting this in their ipsy bags that I’m actually looking forward to using this now! And this leads to the item that looks the most unassuming: MicaBeauty Mineral Eye Shadow. The shade I got is in Harlequin, which is a deep teal-ish green shimmer it seems. I have too much eye makeup that I’m saving this one for my niece that loves turquoise and similar shades. The first item I ended up trying is the Figs & Rouge Hand Cream. The scent I got is Mango Mandarin but it doesn’t smell anything like it in my opinion. I can smell a hint of shea butter in it. I ended up using it first as my dog seems to like this item the most out of this month’s bag. He tried to eat it!

If you read my review on last month’s bag here, you know that I am so in love with the bag itself that I wasn’t sure how they can top it with the next one. They kinda almost did actually! I LOVE everything about this month’s bag. I love the color and the material of it. It’s simply perfect. Keep up the great job ipsy!

ipsy September 2014 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I got my goodies from ipsy Glam Bag a little later this month, but it was worth the wait. I love, love, love the bag. I can’t stress that enough. I can’t decide if this is my favorite or second favorite makeup bag from ipsy. So, I was slightly disappointed of course that I noticed there is surface damage on the studded side of the makeup bag. The cardboard insert is placed outside of the bag and on that side so it poked the holes in the material. That was in fact what I saw when I opened the pretty metallic pink padded envelope it came in. The corner of the cardboard insert was right on the largest of the holes. 😦 I can live with that though. What bothered me more was the damage caused by the corner of the cardboard insert to the first stud. I could only guess that during shipping, just like how it poked holes into the material of the surface of the makeup bag…..the cardboard insert got into a nook at the first stud and kinda pried it around a little bit — stretching the material. I did end up emailing ipsyCare about it and they were quick to respond and resolve my issue. I asked if there was any way I could get another makeup bag because mine was damaged and sent a picture with it. They’re going to ship one out to me. But anyway, here’s everything that I got from my ipsy September 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy September 2014 Glam Bag

The first item I zeroed in is the Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser. I got another Nourish Organic product from an earlier ipsy Glam Bag and reviewed it here recently. It’s sitting on my bathroom counter currently as it’s the next thing I use once my current facial cleanser runs out. Next up is the Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush. Crown Brush is a brand I’ve heard about, but I usually like seeing makeup brushes in person before I place a purchase. Also, I already have a decent amount of makeup brushes that I’m not actively looking for more. This is a good way for me to try it out and assess for future makeup brush purchases. Next item I plucked out of the bag is the Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil. The shade I got is called Gunmetal and it looks to be a pretty shade, but I just have too many eye pencils currently so I’m saving this up to pass it on to someone else that will put it to good use. The next item I pulled out is the Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Love Affair. As mentioned for months now, I have tons of lip glosses open so I’ll be saving this for my niece Jacey. This shade is right up her alley too. The last item in this month’s Glam Bag is the Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream. I’ve never heard of this brand and I think this is the first time I’m getting a hand cream from ipsy. This is the item I’m most excited to try out of everything I got. I’ll provide a full review once I’ve used it extensively.

Overall, a great Glam Bag but that’s mainly because I am so in love with the makeup bag this month. Just when I thought things were starting to fall into a plateau with my ipsy subscription….this month totally got me excited to see what next month’s bag brings!

ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I just got my goodies from ipsy for this month and I’m so excited to share with you guys all about it. The first wow factor for me is that the bag is designed by Rebecca Minkoff! The Hawaiian print design is pretty cute and I’m definitely keeping this one. Here’s everything that I got from my ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag

I liked almost every single thing I got with this month’s Glam Bag. I’m just not sure if I’m keeping all of them though since a few items I already have a lot of from various other brands. Mascara is one of them right now. I recently opened a new tube for review from Influenster, so I’m hesitant to open another one just cause I don’t want to have more than 3 tubes open a time. I don’t want them to dry out faster and such (and I already have about 7 open right now). I guess I’ll just start wearing mascara everyday now to use some up, so Be A Bombshells Lash Out Mascara will just have to wait. The DERMAdoctor DD Cream is the interesting item from this set of products. I’ve heard it all by now — BB cream, CC cream….now DD cream? I haven’t really jumped in the bandwagon for any of the BB and CC cream simply because I’m more of a moisturizer only type of gal. But we’ll see. I have 2 tubes of CC cream on hand already that I may as well just try it out and see what the hoopla is about with my own eyes (and even compare them against this DD cream). The NYX Butter Gloss is a nice surprise only because I don’t own any but wouldn’t mind trying them out. I just never got around to seeing them in the store to pick them up and it wasn’t appealing enough for me to buy them online. The shade I got is Eclair and it smells as good as it sounds based on initial use. I think it’ll be a good product overall. I have to test it more and blog about it later. Next up is Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray. I’ll try this out but definitely note that I’m not one who likes beachy waves as much. When it comes to hair, straight and curls are what appeals to me. Waves are okay, so I imagine that I wouldn’t get much excitement out of this one later on but I will still give it a fair review. Last up is Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner in green. I love eye liners just like any beauty addict but I may save it up to pass it along to one of my husband’s nieces. Just like mascara, I just have too many eye liners currently that I have to use up.

Overall, great bag! My fears last month of this bag being a disappointment was actually for naught. I can’t wait for next month’s bag yet again!

Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box

Some of you guys saw that I got my Target Beauty Box about a week ago on my Instagram account here. I thought about skipping it this time around, but I’m glad I didn’t! There is a good number of things in here for me to try out. I had to call to get my shipping waived because it was supposed to come with free shipping in the first place (but this was not the case when I checked out online). This deal is available online only and is gone by now (you really gotta be quick with this as it goes fast), but definitely keep your eyes peeled cause it’s worth it! Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box

Everything came in a white reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it with the exception of the CoverGirl lip gloss. Some got it in a pink color.

L’Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Sizzle Gloss

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream

TONI&GUY Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray

When I was inspecting the contents of the box, my man exclaimed that it’s worth it for the L’Oréal Voluminous Butterfly mascara alone. Why he said that? I don’t know. Did he know that it’s true? It’s a 50-50 chance with that guess, but I think he did guess that the mascara alone costs more than $5 plus tax (and he’s right at that). There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I’ve never used a texturizing spray before, so I’m curious if I’ll like it or not. I’ve never used a dry shampoo before either. I just never got around to picking one up after doing some research, but this saves me the time and effort for it. The Jergens item….I know and have seen what a BB cream can do for the face in terms of makeup; I’m just not quite convinced it’s just as effective for the body. But sure, I’ll give it a shot anyway. I grew up with this brand and haven’t gotten anything from them since I came to the US (2000).

Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items. Were you able to get the box and if so, which is your favorite item?
