Ho, ho, ho! How are y’all doing with your holiday shopping? I hope you all find what you’re looking for with ease. I got this in a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting until now. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag.
I actually like the bag for this month eve though I feel overall it’s a little flimsy. It’s perfect for the holiday season and I do love shiny things. First item that caught my eye is the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I am familiar with this brand and I’ve been running low on eye creams so this is a good one for me to try soon. Next we have the Lottie London AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. Some other ipsters got Mocha. Then we have the F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E. I have to retake the quiz again as I keep getting these makeup brushes when I have no use for them since I already have enough. The good news is my niece will benefit from this predicament as she’s really into makeup now, so I tossed this into a makeup bag filled with makeup extra goodies for her. Next up is the Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I don’t use makeup primers much but have been stashing some over the years to test with to compare quality and effectiveness. Then we have The Beauty Crop Lip Brulee. The shade everyone got is called Rhubarb Custard. I thought this has a matte velvet finish but I looked it up and saw that it actually has a shine to it. Still, it looks like more of a lip stain than a lip gloss to me. Last up is the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream. It says it’s good for sensitive skin so I anticipate no problems when trying this out as soon as I run out of my current facial moisturizer.
I liked most of what I got so here’s to hoping the bags in 2019 will keep up this trend!
Hey guys! It’s been a while. I caught the flu but am recovering from it finally. I think this might be the first time I’ve ever gotten it in my life! Today’s post is another edition of Curtain Call. I got this product from my ipsy August 2017 Glam Bag. I didn’t get a chance to try it until recently. Here’s my take on the Lierac Paris Mesolift Serum.
Stated from their website:
- WHAT IS IT:
A rich, cleansing and exfoliating scrub that is gentle enough for sensitive skin. Deep cleans the skin, dissolving residue in large pores to make pores less apparent. Leaves the skin clearer, smoother, and brighter.
WHY USE IT:
The non-abrasive, crystalline beads help to clear away blackheads and dead skin cells, while the infused Propolis extract works to provide moisture to the skin.
WHO IS IT FOR:
All skin types.
HOW TO USE:
Gently spread over face and cheeks. Gradually add water with fingertips until all mineral crystals are dissolved. Massage the resulting lotion into the skin for 1 minute. Rinse with cool water.
What I love about this product? I like facial scrubs in general so I was excited to try this one. I followed the instructions the best that I could and sometimes not all of the “mineral crystals” dissolve. And water will start running down my hands and arms when I try to do the adding water to it part onto my face. It did leave my skin soft but I didn’t get that squeaky clean feeling like with some other facial scrubs. It’s good for those that prefer their skin left moisturized after use. It smells really, really good…..like pineapple and whipped cream.
What I don’t like about this product? It’s a personal preference for me, but I like facial scrubs to be more on the cleansing side (leaning more on the squeaky clean rather than moisturizing). Also, it costs at least twice as much as other facial scrubs I’ve used that I like.
More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.
Better late than never! Here’s my take on the ipsy August 2017 Glam Bag.
While the bag is cute, I am more interested in the makeup items I got. First item that caught my eye is the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask. They can attribute that to the bright eye-catching packaging color. I use face masks at least twice a week now so there will be a post on this in 2 months or so. Next is SUGAR Cosmetics Stroke Of Genius Heavy Duty Kohl. The shade I got is 01 Back to Black. I think this is the only shade this particular product item comes in for now though. Then we have the Hey Honey Come Clean: Propolis & Minerals Facial Scrub. I’ve been using this about thrice a week and will be posting about it in the next few days. Next we have the MAKE UP FOR EVER EXCESSIVE LASH Arresting Volume Mascara. I have used products from this brand with fairly good results so I’m keeping this one to try out later. Last up is theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is Kuwakaribisha. It’s a nice, light shimmery shade that is quite versatile as it can also be used as a highlighter.
Overall, very nice. My next bag should be coming soon and I can’t wait to see what I get!
Hey guys! It’s been a busy few weeks for me here. Just trying to enjoy summer but there’s always work, chores and a hell of a lot of other stuff. But again, better late than never (heck, I just got my ispy Julu G;am Bag yesterday!) so here’s my take on the ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag is made of canvas material I think. It’s functional but not really my style but that’s quite alright as someone else will get good use out of it. First item that caught my eye is the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream. It’s really hard not to notice it with such bright color for product packaging. Next up is the NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé. I’m not sure if I’ll try this out or not. I’m trying to minimize my makeup stash at the moment. The shade I got this in is Cocoa Bean. Then we have the Hey Honey Uncover Detoxifying Mud Mask. I like face masks, especially mud based ones so watch out for a review on it soon. Next we have the theBalm Balm Springs Blush. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — LOVE their packaging even the small ones like this. It’s so darn cute. I think I can rock this shade so it’s a keeper. Last up is Doucce Maxlash Volumizer Mascara. It’s going to my gifting pile as I have too many mascaras lined up to try already.
I wish the bag was different but can’t complain cause I’m so in love with July’s bag! 🙂
Hey y’all! I haven’t done a Curtain Call post in a while so here goes. This post is on a product I got from my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream.
The closest thing to this I found on their website is the 24Seven Honey Day & Night Cream. At 50 ml / 1.7 oz, this retails for $38 at their website. Did they rename this? I got the name from the ips. The back of the tube reads the following:
“24/7 is a rich cream that is neither greasy nor sticky and is ideal for use on face, neck and even the eye contour areas. Use on delicate areas that are commonly the first to demonstrate signs of aging to prevent dryness that causes wrinkles.”
Verdict? I actually love it. The texture is very pleasant to apply onto my skin. It is what it promised — neither greasy nor sticky. The texture is of a light cream and is white in color. Being able to use this on delicate areas such as around the eyes is a huge bonus. I’ve always use specific eye creams for the eye area. The scent is quite pleasant, something floral almost but not quite. It’s a little strong initially but it dissipates quickly and there’s no trace of it minutes after application. One thing I will say about the scent is that while I find the scent pleasant, others may not. It also kind of changes if I keep smelling it. It eventually smells of something that reminds me of a nurses office when I was young in school or something.
More information on this product and others they carry can be found on their website here.
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.
This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.
I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I didn’t do much really — just got caught up with all the household chores and went to 2 different Bath & Body Works to get the pocketbacs I wanted. One of my favorites is Hey Honeybun and only of the stores had it so we ended up going to 2 of them. I’m already looking forward to this weekend just to get the regular week chores knocked out of the way so I can relax. Today’s post is a review on something I got from my ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag. It was the perfect size to give it a whirl for a complete review in a few weeks. Here’s Hey Honey Good Morning: Honey Silk Facial Serum.
What I love about this product? The scent is relatively light and smells pleasant. I do detect the smell of honey but it’s light. There’s something else in it that I can’t quite put my finger on. I know that dogs seem to notice it as they love licking my face when I have this on. This serum is comparable to a slightly more watery face moisturizer to me. It spreads very easily and doesn’t take too long to fully absorb into my skin. The feeling it leaves on my skin is best described as what I feel if I apply makeup primer on. I makes my skin so soft and smooth. I’ve used this for about 3 weeks now and I like it. I use it in the mornings only, but it does recommend to be used both day and night either by itself or under your day or night cream.
What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be extremely picky, the fact that this has no SPF and the price. I think making this with SPF protection would be justified for the price it’s being sold at. $41 for an ounce (description on website says 1.2 oz but the product shot shows 1 oz) seems pricey. You definitely could try justifying it as being both a makeup primer and moisturizer.
This item is available on their online store here.
Hey guys! This month’s ipsy came when I was away on my honeymooniversary trip. I saw some people I follow post their ipsy for this month and they look good! I was hoping mine was just as good too. Here’s what I got in my ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag.
This month’s ipsy bag showed some promise but in the end, I’ll be passing most of the items on to someone else that can give it more love than I am willing to give. I just have too much makeup at this point for someone that doesn’t use makeup at all. Let’s start first with the bag. It’s a cute summery basket weave type of material. It’s pretty and I’m debating on keeping it. First item that caught my eye is the Hey Honey Good Morning – Honey Silk Facial Serum. The word honey in a beauty product just has a positive spin to me. I’m eager to try this out and am hoping the scent will be good. Next is the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint. I typically don’t like combo type of beauty products like this as I like different formulas for my cheeks and my lips. Products with the same type of formula for those will typically be okay for my cheeks but too dry for my lips or very heavy (even greasy) for my cheeks and perfect for my lips. This is a pass for me. The packaging is pretty though. Then we have JulieG Nail Color in the shade Damsel. I own too many nail polishes at this point for me to start with this brand. I’ve used this brand before and thought it was only okay. The color isn’t one I gravitate to immediately so I’ll be passing this on to someone else. The theBalm NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single I got is in the shade Flirty. I recently reviewed the theBalm NUDE ‘tude® Nude Eyeshadow Palette and the formula is pretty good overall. I expect this to be almost the same. The packaging is quite creative and fun as well. Last item is the Gállány Cosmetics Lipstick. The shade I got is Petal. It’s a very “safe” kind of color in my opinion. The sleek packaging looks nice and sophisticated. Not sure if I’m keeping it as I have too many lip products already.
Overall, I was excited at first but then when I went through what each product is and if I can use it….meh. It’s only okay in the end. Better luck next month?
