Hey guys! Hope you’re all having a great weekend so far! Today’s post is on a product I got from my ipsy April 2018 Glam Bag. Here’s my thoughts on the H2O+ BEAUTY Oasis Hydrating Treatment.
Stated from their website:
- WHAT IT IS:
This water-gel moisturizer instantly quenches skin and provides ongoing moisture. Clinically proven to more than double skin’s hydration and hydrates skin for 24 hours.
This innovative lightweight formula absorbs rapidly and is great for dry to oily skin types. It features a high-performance formula powered by dual-hydration technology that combines replenishing actives to add moisture while attracting additional hydration, plus protecting actives that support skin’s barrier to preserve moisture.
What I love about this product? The product itself is a clear blue gel in appearance. It looks to be very hydrating (makes me think of water droplets!) and has a light marine or sea themed scent. I use a generous dollop of this (it is not watery but not thick like a lotion — somewhere in between, like a gel bead droplet almost) and patted it gently all over my face with my fingertips. I use this as my step 4 in the Korean 10-step skin routine I’ve been doing for months now. If you apply too much of it, it will feel sticky on your face so go easy when you’re using it for the first time. It absorbs really quickly into my skin and has a cooling feel to my face. It feels quite refreshing. I’ve used this product for over a month (love how long it lasts) and I love how light it is while keeping my skin supple.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really. I have since moved on to trying out several other products for the facial serum step ever since I ran out of this and this is still one of the best I’ve tried.

Hey guys! Happy Friday! Today’s post is on a product I got from my ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag. Here’s my thoughts on the NEOGEN Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop.
What I love about this product? It is described with the following on their website: “A unique oil drop texture that combines the hydrating effects of oil and moisturizing effects of an ampoule in a one-of-a-kind formula containing precious white truffle. This serum improves dark dull skin tone while giving a glow to skin. The result? You will see a hydrated, bright, and glowing looking skin. Its hypoallergenic formula is perfect for all skin type including sensitive skin.” The product itself is golden yellow in color and is clear. It has a subtle glowing effect when applied onto my face. The feeling left on my face when applied is not greasy at all. I use a generous drop (or 2!) of this and spread it all over my face with my fingers. I use this as my step 4 in the Korean 10-step skin routine I started a little while ago (my nightly routine is now up to 9 steps every night). It is so light that I keep on layering stuff onto my face with no issues on how my face feels with it. To me, there is a scent to it but it’s so light that I honestly don’t even know how to describe it. My husband sniffed it and said he can’t really smell anything, so this is a definite win in my book! I’ve used this product for at least 2 whole months and I love how light it is while making my face feel so soft and supple.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing at all! I am now trying another facial serum as I ran out of this a few weeks ago and let me tell you, this is so much better.

I know this is late but I had taken the pictures already so we’ll go ahead with it anyway. Here’s what I got in my ipsy April 2018 Glam Bag.
I LOVE this bag! It’s quite beautiful really. I saved it to give it to my MIL. It makes me think of mothers for some reason (I think it might be the rose gold and the butterflies?). The first item that caught my eye is the H2O+ BEAUTY Oasis Hydrating Treatment. I’m very much into skincare right now so this is right up my alley. Next is the Purlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub. I love body scrubs so this went straight into my shower. Then we have the Smashbox Cosmetics Always On Liquid Lipstick. I’m still debating if I want to keep this or not. The shade is called Miss Conduct and I’m not sure if it suits me or not (plus, I have a ton of lip products already). Next we have the Manna Kadar Eye Candy Priming Shadow Stick. The shade I got is called S’more. Last up is a Steve Laurant Blush. TI’ve never heard of this brand before but it seems like it would be a really nice blush. The shade I got this in is called Rosé All Day. The other shade some others got is called I’m Blushing.
Overall, I’m very pleased with what I got — especially the bag! I hope next month’s bag continues this trend!
Hey guys! Only 6 more days to Christmas! Have you all finished your holiday shopping yet? I am! I did most of it online this year. It’s just so much more convenient. Anyway, today’s post is another edition of Curtain Call. I got this product from either an Amazon beauty bag or from ULTA. I didn’t get a chance to try it until recently. Here’s my take on the Lierac Paris Mesolift Serum.
Stated from their website:
- A concentrate of radiance containing 15% mesolift cocktail, enriched with blood-orange extract, for an immediate and universal “pick-me-up” effect: all skin types, all ages, all seasons.
What I love about this product? This is one of the best facial serums I’ve ever used and I say that with using it in such a short time frame too (I typically review a product like this after use of about 2 months to really cover its true effectiveness). It is not sticky at all and absorbs pretty quickly onto my face. It leaves my face nicely plump and soft. I do feel like my skin looks like it’s glowing somewhat with use. I did experience a warming sensation with use but it’s not bothersome to me. Like with other facial products, I take it as “THIS PRODUCT IS WORKING!”. I think it might be the high vitamin C content? Not really sure. This small tube lasted about a week and a half or so. I just apply a few drops of it onto my face after washing it both day and night. I didn’t care for the scent at all though but it doesn’t linger really and it’s quite light to begin with.
What I don’t like about this product? Probably the price. 1 fl oz of this goes for $60 on their website. I’m debating whether to purchase this or not still. I just might with how I feel about this product.
More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.
Hey there! How are you guys doing? Fall is definitely in the air. Some nights I can feel it in my bones! Brr! I’ve been busy with work and life in general but I decided to make a post today. Today’s post is another edition of Curtain Call. I got this product from my ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag. Here’s my take on the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream.
Stated from their website:
- Restore smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin with this powerful anti-aging moisturizer that helps firm and hydrate the skin, while treating the signs of aging. Loaded with our patented peptides and natural vitamin C, this combination helps to enhance natural collagen reproduction and brighten complexion to a radiant glow…Infuse deep, rich hydration.
What I love about this product? It’s a simple to use product that comes in simple but nice packaging. The product itself is a white in color and is of the consistency between a facial moisturizer and a face cream. It’s not thick like what you’d think of a face cream and it leans more to the size of being a facial moisturizer. I personally love the scent so it doesn’t bother me that it’s strong if you sniff it directly. The scent is like a minty floral to me and dissipates fairly quickly after application since it is spread out. I get a warming sensation when I use it — definitely more noticeable the first time. I was bracing myself for burning or some other adverse reaction where I’d have to quickly wash my face but it was just a slight warming sensation that dissipates in less than a minute. I actually love that about this product. It makes me think the probiotics are working! Haha! My face feels so soft and smooth after application. I can’t say my skin is better or younger after use really but I love it.
What I don’t like about this product? Probably the price. For $68, you get 50 ml / 1.7 fl oz worth of product. Kinda steep but if it works then it’s worth it, right? I’m waiting for a sale on this. 🙂
Today’s Curtain Call post is on a product that I got from Influenster a few months ago. Here’s what I think of L’Oréal REVITALIFT Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer.
The box it comes in states the following about the product:
1. REPAIR WRINKLES
PRO-XYLANE + HYALURONIC ACID
And on the back:
1. REPAIR WRINKLES
Revitalift Triple Power with Hyaluronic Acid rapidly penetrates skin to help fight each wrinkle.
2. RE-FIRM SKIN
Revitalift Triple Power with Concentrated Pro-Xylane firms and tightens skin.
3. REDENSIFY SKIN
Revitalift Triple Power with Concentrated Pro-Xylane re-volumizes to strengthen skin.
What I love about this product? The packaging is very nice and sturdy although I do worry about it being made of glass. I did drop it once accidentally onto my bathroom tile floor and ut didn’t break. I considered that dumb luck really. I can see some people finding the scent to be on the strong side. I personally didn’t mind the scent and it dissipates after a while. The scent makes me think of soap for the most part. I find it pleasant. The formula of the product is a little bit thicker than most moisturizers I’ve used. Some consider it a face cream and I can see that. To me, it’s something in between a facial moisturizer and face cream. The product goes on nicely and is absorbed really well into my skin. I don’t find it to be greasy at all, which is a big thing for me in my facial care regimen. It definitely keeps my face well moisturized throughout the entire day and every night. It’s perfect to use after I use my PMD, as that requires intense moisturizing after use. Other than that, I can’t really say anything about their claims of repairing wrinkles, re-firming and “redensifying” skin. My skin does feel soft with use. This entire tub lasted me for about 4 months.
What I don’t like about this product? I tested this product for approximately 4 months and the major con for me is that I believe this facial moisturizer is the cause of the breakouts I encountered in 3 separate occasions. The first time it happened, I was a week into trying this product out and I thought to myself “Nah, it’s could be what I’m eating or some other factors…” so I continued with use to determine that. Well, I’ve never had breakouts happen this much in a period of 4 months in over 10 years. So something in the formulation doesn’t really agree with my skin. I know that I’m not the only one who has noticed this but honestly every person’s skin is different so you might actually not encounter this with use. Because of this, while I was glad I had the opportunity to try it out at no cost — I will not be purchasing this in the future.

Hey y’all! I just got this in the mail 2 days ago and am about to start using some of what I got. Here’s my take on the ipsy March 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag looks quite cute — like a beehive pattern! And it’s bigger than past ipsy bags, which I like a lot. But the material is prone to snagging for me so we’ll see if I’m going to actually use it or not. First item that caught my eye is the theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer. I LOVE the cute packaging they always have! This is a keeper for me. Next up is the So Susan Blush & Glow. I will look up for reviews and swatches on this before I open it. The shade I got this in is called Rose Rust. Then we have Marc Anthony True Professional Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment. I generally haven’t found anything from this brand that I dislike so I’ll be trying this out shortly and post my review on it. Next we have the JeNu High Tech Beauty Marine Collagen Mineral Gel. This is the type of product I’m looking for these days. I already started using it today. I put it on before I apply moisturizer. Last up is The Skone Cosmetics Luxe Pro Blending Brush. I retook the quiz again on ipsy as I thought I’ve said before that I didn’t want more makeup brushes yet I keep getting them still. This one goes into my extra random gifting pile.
Overall, much better than last month!
Hey y’all! Today’s post is on a product I got from my ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s my thoughts on the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.
What I love about this product? I like it a lot. I find the texture extremely pleasant to apply onto my skin. A lot of face creams and moisturizers feel greasy but this one doesn’t at all. The product is white in color and it absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It comes in a squeeze tube with a twist cap. The scent is on the more unique side for a face cream to me. Without reading anything on the tube, it struck me as a kind of floral scent leaning on the perfume-y side. Reading the description of it as a “pro-collagen marine cream”, the scent does have a “marine” quality to me although perfume-y. It definitely doesn’t smell of fish or seaweed if that’s what you’re thinking. I don’t find it too strong once applied onto my face but sniffing it from the tube it came across as pretty strong. My face feels like it is well-hydrated throughout the day with just this on.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really except for the price. It’s up there even if it feels like it’s a really nice product.
More information on this product and others they carry can be found on their website here.
Hey y’all! I haven’t done a Curtain Call post in a while so here goes. This post is on a product I got from my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream.
The closest thing to this I found on their website is the 24Seven Honey Day & Night Cream. At 50 ml / 1.7 oz, this retails for $38 at their website. Did they rename this? I got the name from the ips. The back of the tube reads the following:
“24/7 is a rich cream that is neither greasy nor sticky and is ideal for use on face, neck and even the eye contour areas. Use on delicate areas that are commonly the first to demonstrate signs of aging to prevent dryness that causes wrinkles.”
Verdict? I actually love it. The texture is very pleasant to apply onto my skin. It is what it promised — neither greasy nor sticky. The texture is of a light cream and is white in color. Being able to use this on delicate areas such as around the eyes is a huge bonus. I’ve always use specific eye creams for the eye area. The scent is quite pleasant, something floral almost but not quite. It’s a little strong initially but it dissipates quickly and there’s no trace of it minutes after application. One thing I will say about the scent is that while I find the scent pleasant, others may not. It also kind of changes if I keep smelling it. It eventually smells of something that reminds me of a nurses office when I was young in school or something.
More information on this product and others they carry can be found on their website here.
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.
This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.
I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.
Hey guys! It’s a beautiful day today here in sunny Oklahoma! Guess what arrived in my mailbox? It’s a little later than usual this month but it could be worse. Here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2016 Glam Bag.
I like the bag a lot but it already has some damage right by the zipper (the makeup brush is covering it in the above pic). Not sure if it’s the nature of the material or what but that’s a bummer. I emailed ipsyCare about it with a clear pic of the damage so we’ll see what they say. First item that caught my eye is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye® Anti-Aging Concealer. I love this brand and I LOVE this product. I have used a slightly different version of concealer from them before (IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye® Waterproof Anti-Aging Concealer) but this should perform on the same level as that. Next up is Luxie Beauty Flat Definer Brush 221. I don’t use makeup brushes much and have a ton already so this will go in a gifting pile. Then we have Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion. I love microdermabrasions so I’ll be trying this out very soon. Next is the Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Creme Facial Lotion. I just began a new facial skincare regimen so I’ll just save this up for when I travel. It’s the perfect size for it. Last item is the tre’StiQue Baby Blush Stick. The shade I got is called Bora Bora Coral. I already have too many blushes that I don’t use so I think I’ll just save this for part of a goody bag for someone later on.
Overall, the IT Cosmetics item made it worth it for me. I can’t stop raving about their concealers.
Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I’ve been using since the Holidays as I ran out of the daytime face moisturizer I’ve been using. I got this in a free gift set offer a few months ago. Here’s my take on the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+.
What I love about this product? It does what it’s supposed to do really well. The product is light yellow in color and the texture is a little more viscous than most face lotions I’ve used. The product doesn’t really have a scent to it. I’ve seen this the first time probably in 2000 when I first came to this country. My cousin Jeannie had a few bottles of this in her bathroom mirror closet. She’s pretty good at taking care of herself so I knew that it’s good stuff. Fast forward to more than a decade and a half later and I just so happen to get one of this in a free with purchase set. My face stayed moisturized all day.
What I don’t like about this product? Probably just 2 things if I’m being really picky: 1) It has no SPF protection and 2) It leaves my skin kinda greasy a little bit by the end of the day. I did try putting less on but it’s not that bad really. I’ve used moisturizers where it feels much heavier than this formulation on my face. I just thought it wouldn’t feel like this being that this is a “lotion” for the face.
More information on this item and other products from this brand is available on their website. Products from this brand is also carried by other retailers such as Sephora, ULTA and various department stores like Macy’s and Dillards.
Hey guys! 2016 is almost here! Are you setting any goals for yourselves next year? I used to do that but I find it not enjoyable at all, so instead I just strive to do better overall and take life one day at a time. Today’s post is on an item I got from the Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box. Here’s Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream.
What I love about this product? The gel formula barely has any scent at all, which is great for people who are more sensitive to that such like my husband. I took this with me on our trip to Vegas in September. When a few areas on his face was starting to dry out, I handed him this. It certainly does the trick in moisturizing well. I heard no complaints from him at all about it during the entire trip. I gave him this one to use over the Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion as that one had more of a scent than the Neutrogena one. It absorbs really fast into the skin with no oily residue at all. It’s like a drink of water for your skin — literally!
What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be picky, the price. But I won’t hesitate picking this up when it goes on sale or if it’s a good deal with coupons.
More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.
Happy Thursday! Today’s post is on something I’ve been trying out for 2 weeks now. Here’s my take on the Aveeno POSITIVELY RADIANT® Daily Moisturizer.
What I love about this product? I got this from my Walmart Fall 2015 Beauty Box. I’m so glad that I got the chance to try this before I decide to splurge on the full-sized item. I like that this doesn’t smell heavily of sunscreen at all and that the texture is more pleasant than I thought it would be. I was bracing myself for it being on the heavy side like other sunscreen face moisturizers or creams I’ve tried. This one is lightweight compared to those. There is no heaviness at all. It leaves my face feeling so soft and smooth. Product is white in color and aside from a hint of the scent of sunscreen scent is something familiar but can’t quite pinpoint.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really.
More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as Target, Walmart and ULTA.
I could’ve sworn I blogged about this but when it was time to write a review on one of the items I got in this I couldn’t find the post at all. Here’s what I got with my Walmart Fall 2015 Beauty Box.
Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box. Still a pretty good deal for $5!
I’m still loving what I can get for $5 this time around. I hope the next one will be just as awesome!
Hey guys! I was very surprised how fast I got this month’s bag. It was in the mailbox yesterday when my husband checked. Here’s what I got in my ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag.
First off, while I’m not in love with the bag….I still like it. I love the fact that it’s gold. The other side is in black patent. First item that caught my eye is the Emité Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer. I’ve been due for a new one so this might be a good contender. Next up is Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum. I’ve used a product from this brand before so I’m open to trying this one out. I hope the scent isn’t the same as even though the product I did try said it’s unscented….the scent made me gag slightly. Then we have the AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish. The shade everyone who got this is their bag is Inky Dinky. I’m not sure if I’m keeping this yet but I may just to compare how it fares to other brands. Next is the Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion. Last thing I need right now is more hand and body lotion since I have a ton from Bath & Body Works. I’ll probably have this as an additional gift to someone eventually. Last item is theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick. The shade that everyone who got this item in their bag is Committed.
Overall, I’m most excited about the item from theBalm and I actually laughed at the name of the product (they’re pretty good and cute at naming their stuff!).
Hey guys! How y’all doing? I’ve been gone the past few days cause I went on a short vacation to Vegas! It was a really nice break that I enjoyed a lot. Anyway, back to regular blog posting, today I have another Curtain Call post. Here’s my take on the Rodial Bee Venom Moisturiser.
At 1.76 oz / 50 g, this retails for $190 when sold as is (AKA not in a set). It’s a very high price point for me. It’s also not something widely offered here unlike similar products from other competitor brands. You can get this in a set with the Bee Venom Super Serum and Bee Venom Eye for a better value. This product is described as the following:
“The revolutionary bee venom moisturiser is an advanced formula that revitalises and renews for naturally younger looking skin. 72% of trial volunteers felt the cream left their complexion looking firmer. Working in synergy with complex plant extracts to visibly improve skin tone and elasticity, bee venom helps to smooth and plump out fine lines and wrinkles by controlling muscle contractions in the face and helps increase blood circulation in treated areas. Also contains Cyclopeptide-5, a next generation skincare peptide that restores and increases skin elasticity and firmness, to help prevent signs of ageing. Juvinity encourages ageing cells to behave younger by reactivating the production of collagen making this the premium anti-ageing cream.”
Verdict? I have a sample size tube of this product that I got from an ULTA freebie bag with purchase. I started using this the week before I left for my trip to Vegas and then took it with me for continued use. I figured that if it’s a great product that I’d get great results from — what better time to use it than for my vacation? The tube lasted about ten days in total with daily use at night. The product is white in color and the texture is just what I would expect from a face moisturizer. The scent is very pleasant and familiar — I just can’t quite pinpoint what it is. My first thought is it’s some scent I smelled before from Bath & Body Works but that’s a very vague description. The best way I can describe it is it’s a cross or a blend of soap and baby powder. I just squeeze a small amount onto my fingertip and gently spread it all over my face. It absorbs really quick into my skin and then I can apply sunscreen over it easily. As for the claims….I can’t really comment on that as I can’t really say I’ve used it long enough to see any real results.
This product can easily be purchased on their website here or at other retailers such as ULTA.
Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. For $7, this is a steal as the estimated retail value of everything here is $35. Being that I loved the past few boxes, I am very pleased with this one.
I am very thrilled with the Clairol Hair Food Moisturizing Hair Mask and Fekkai Pré-Soleil Hair Mist. Those alone made the box worth it for me. As usual it does come with a $3 off $15 coupon on beauty items to use at Target.
Hey guys! It’s almost the end of the week once again. I look forward to getting more chores done and then catching up on some movies before the new week begins. I got the chance to use this most of the time for the past 2 – 3 months. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer.
This moisturizer comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. This is described on their website with the following: “Beautifully sheer, greaseless facial cream moisturizer that’s also a beautifully effective SPF #25 protection against sun’s damaging rays, wind, heat or cold. When you are outdoors, although you are not sun bathing, your skin still needs protection. But the usual suntan cream is either too heavy or it’s not a beautifying moisturizer. So, here’s a superb moisturizer that softens, makes skin look dewy fresh, leaves no oily residue and has a special sunscreen. Ideal daily use for the outdoor type, male or female. Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer provides many hours of protection.”
The back of the tub states the following directions: “Use daily — even when not sunbathing, apply 15 minutes prior to sun exposure.”
What I love about this product? It’s a very light formula with barely any scent. The product is white in color and not greasy at all. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last a long time for me as I only use it during the day. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my face right after I shower every morning. It absorbs quickly into the skin to keep it moisturized all day long. I don’t feel it on my face at all, which is one of the most important thing to me in a face cream or moisturizer.
What I don’t like about this product? My usual complaint on reviews is the pricing being on the high side but this time it’s the SPF. SPF 25 is the bare minimum for a face moisturizer in my regular skincare regimen for sun protection. I hope they’re looking into making the same product but upping the SPF protection. I’d definitely buy it again when they do that.
This item retails for about $13 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I didn’t do much really — just got caught up with all the household chores and went to 2 different Bath & Body Works to get the pocketbacs I wanted. One of my favorites is Hey Honeybun and only of the stores had it so we ended up going to 2 of them. I’m already looking forward to this weekend just to get the regular week chores knocked out of the way so I can relax. Today’s post is a review on something I got from my ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag. It was the perfect size to give it a whirl for a complete review in a few weeks. Here’s Hey Honey Good Morning: Honey Silk Facial Serum.
What I love about this product? The scent is relatively light and smells pleasant. I do detect the smell of honey but it’s light. There’s something else in it that I can’t quite put my finger on. I know that dogs seem to notice it as they love licking my face when I have this on. This serum is comparable to a slightly more watery face moisturizer to me. It spreads very easily and doesn’t take too long to fully absorb into my skin. The feeling it leaves on my skin is best described as what I feel if I apply makeup primer on. I makes my skin so soft and smooth. I’ve used this for about 3 weeks now and I like it. I use it in the mornings only, but it does recommend to be used both day and night either by itself or under your day or night cream.
What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be extremely picky, the fact that this has no SPF and the price. I think making this with SPF protection would be justified for the price it’s being sold at. $41 for an ounce (description on website says 1.2 oz but the product shot shows 1 oz) seems pricey. You definitely could try justifying it as being both a makeup primer and moisturizer.
This item is available on their online store here.
“Long time no see Influenster!” is what I literally said to myself (again!) when I got this in the mail. I was very surprised when I got an email that I qualified for it because it’s been so long! The Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015 contains various items that is not targeted in any specific department such as beauty or wellness. It’s a mix of things and I’m very excited to cover them all in future posts. Here are the contents of the box:
The Nasoya item is happily sitting in the fridge right now and I passed one of the Bear Naked goodies to my husband to snack on. The Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo has been in use for the past few days now. I can tell you as early as now that I’m quite impressed with that one. More details to come in the next few days!

Hey guys! Happy Friday! Today’s post is on a beauty bag subscription that I’ve recently been offered to try out for a month. The company is Beauteque and they run a monthly subscription service over at Beautequemonthly.com with several options to select from. Each month’s beauty bag contents will include 7 to 8 full-sized products. These vary from makeup to skincare to fashion and lifestyle products. You have a hand in what options to select for some products such as scent of something with fragrance or color of some of the items. There is a survey format email sent on the 15th of each month with regards to what options are offered for those items. If no selection is made, Beauteque will make the selection for you. The bags are shipped out starting the 15th of each month and there are 4 options in their price packages:
Month to Month = $24/month
3 months = $24/month
6 months = $23/month
12 months = $22/month
The first 2 are basically the same except the first one has no commitment to a future subscription. You get billed on the 15th of each month when doing the month to month option while all others are prepaid. If you subscribe after the 5th then your first shipment is for the next month. Now let’s move on to what May’s bag for me contains, shall we?
The insert that came with the bag contains a price breakdown and description of each item. Let’s start with the May Island Donkey Milk Skin Masks.
I got 2 in this bag: a mela-tox and a wrinkle filler one. I thought this was a very interesting product and I look forward to trying it out. The insert states: “Double your skin benefits with this three-step mask pack. To Use: Take the cleanser and rub into face, then wash off. Then apply ampoule onto entire face. On the last step, take the sheet mask and spread onto the face for 15-20 minutes. Then remove it from your face.” Instructions are pretty clear and it’s like other Korean sheet masks I’ve tried before.
Next item is one that stumped me a bit just by looking at the product packaging. It’s the Nature Republic By Flower Vivid Tint Bar.
I wasn’t sure what it was and actually thought it’s something like a cheek tint or something because of the name. I read the insert and realized it’s a lip balm! The insert states: “This multitasker offers SPF15, jojoba oil, and beautiful color. This protects delicate lips from the harmful sun and moisturize them all at once. To Use: When lips are chapped or dry, use lip balm to moisturize lips.” This is the other item I had to make a selection for in terms of scent and flavor since the one I got is in Melon.
Then we have It’s Skin Mini Bebe Mist.
The scent I got is in Sweet Peach. I remember having to select a scent and made a peach selection so this has to be one of the 2 products I had to select from a few given options. The insert states: “You can use this spritz on your body, as well as when you close your eyes to refresh your face. To Use: When your skin feels dry, spray onto face, and tap for absorption.” Interesting, eh?
The one that caught my eye the most is Mikatvonk Auto Eyeliner Pencil.
I was hoping the packaging color is the shade of the actual product because it’s such a pretty jewel toned shade. But no luck — it’s plain black. I’m actually wearing it right now on my lower lash line….just putting it to the test. The insert describes it as the following: “Define eyes with this liner from Mikatvonk, a hot line from a leading Australian makeup artist! To Use: Apply from inner to outer corner of eyes and of either of both top and bottom lashline.”
Then we have The Face Shop Eyelash Curler.
This has the following description in the insert: “A lash curler is the secret to multiplying lashes and adding explosive volume. To Use: Open the curler and clamp at the root of lashes, release after 20-30 seconds.” I’ve actually tried this one this morning. I didn’t like it as much as the current one from Revlon I’m using, which I found surprising because I actually thought an eyelash curler from an Asian brand would work better for me (I’m Asian). The shape is different from my Revlon one definitely….flatter.
Next is the Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Steam Starter.
This product actually made my husband laugh. He asked me what in the world it is. The packaging is very cutesy and the insert states the following: “This gel helps to open your pores while eliminating buildup within them. Its pink clay ingredients helps absorb excess sebum and soften stubborn blackheads. To Use: After cleansing, apply to the area with blackheads and massage for 3 minutes. Then use lukewarm water to rinse off.”
Last item is the Nature Republic Bulgarian Rose Essence.
This item is one of those I’m glad for the insert. It gives me an idea on what to use it for since I’ve never used a product like it. The insert states: “Vitamins A and C enliven skin, and rose moisturizes. To Use: Apply after cleansing and toning by rubbing into skin for a result you will start to see and feel immediately.”
Breakdown of the products according to the insert:
May Island Donkey Milk Skin Masks ($3.20 each) .. $ 6.40
Nature Republic By Flower Vivid Tint Bar …………. … 8
It’s Skin Mini Bebe Mist …………………………………. 11
Mikatvonk Auto Eyeliner Pencil ……………………….. 15
The Face Shop Eyelash Curler ………………………….. 7.60
Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Starter …… 10
Nature Republic Bulgarian Rose Essence ……………. 17
Total ……………………………………………………….. $75
Based on the breakdown, you’re getting a great value with this subscription service. The only thing is, as will most beauty subscriptions, not all items will be what you want or you’d actually get for yourself. For instance, while the eye liner pencil seems fairly nice….it doesn’t seem to be waterproof and $15 is more than I’m willing to pay for a brand I don’t know much about. Or the lip balm — while it’s nice and I appreciate it’s not a local brand, $8 is hefty (more than twice for a good brand) compared to what we can get here. Now, that may be the actual going price for this — I’m not saying it’s not. It’s just not a price I’d pay for a tinted lip balm on a regular basis. Also, I don’t use certain things so the prices may feel a little higher than I thought it should be. But if all prices are close to or just about what it really is then yes…it’s a great deal for $24. I actually look at everything I got and think that $24 isn’t that bad being that most, if not all, of these aren’t readily available to me here. I’m willing to pay a little bit more right off the bat for brands that aren’t available here like most of these featured in this month’s bag.

Hey guys! This month’s been crazy so far and that’s why my posts have been sporadic. But today’s post is on the latest I have from ipsy. I think I got this in on Friday — the day we got caught in a bad hailstorm. The car is sad with tons of hail damage but my husband and I came out okay. We were bracing for the windows to break but it didn’t (that’s how bad it was). Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag.
I liked the print on this month’s bag. I thought it was cute! I’ve been using a few of my ipsy bags lately and I can see this in my regular rotation. The first thing that caught my eye is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Ozone, which looks like it will apply on clear to me. I can’t wait to test this out and see how it stacks against others I have. Next item I see is the CoTZ FACE. Formulation I got is in Natural SPF 40. It’s summer time and I usually up the SPF on what I use on my face. This will be tested thoroughly in the next few weeks so watch out for a post on it! Then we have BelláPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil. I think I’ll be passing on this one to someone else although I am intrigued as it’s a gel liner. I love the look and effect gel liners give but there’s usually a problem with them in my experience (either they dry out or just aren’t that great overall after a few uses, with the drying out part contributing to that of course). I will be passing on the Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 as well as I have too many makeup brushes already and I usually use 0 on a weekly basis. Last item is the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion. I am very interested in trying this out as I want to see just how effective it really is.
Overall, this turned out better than last month and I’m excited now about the next one!
My Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box came in right after I got back from my honeymooniversary. I missed out on their Winter 2014 one but I saw this when I was looking through my Instagram feed one day when I was at St. John and quickly grabbed my wallet and ordered it with the rental’s Wi-fi. I was so happy that my order went through and the email confirmation showed up in my inbox. I was really happy with last year’s box shown here. I hoped this box is just as good if not better and it did not disappoint! Here’s what I got with mine:
Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it.
I was excited to see the hair products the most. The first item I’ll end up using is probably the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream. I got 5 things for $5 shipped, which is really good. There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I hope none are damaged as the dry shampoo I got with last year’s box was a dud. It wouldn’t spray anything at all so it must’ve been damaged during shipping or something.
Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items.
