ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

Ho, ho, ho! How are y’all doing with your holiday shopping? I hope you all find what you’re looking for with ease. I got this in a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting until now. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

I actually like the bag for this month eve though I feel overall it’s a little flimsy. It’s perfect for the holiday season and I do love shiny things. First item that caught my eye is the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I am familiar with this brand and I’ve been running low on eye creams so this is a good one for me to try soon. Next we have the Lottie London AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. Some other ipsters got Mocha. Then we have the F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E. I have to retake the quiz again as I keep getting these makeup brushes when I have no use for them since I already have enough. The good news is my niece will benefit from this predicament as she’s really into makeup now, so I tossed this into a makeup bag filled with makeup extra goodies for her. Next up is the Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I don’t use makeup primers much but have been stashing some over the years to test with to compare quality and effectiveness. Then we have The Beauty Crop Lip Brulee. The shade everyone got is called Rhubarb Custard. I thought this has a matte velvet finish but I looked it up and saw that it actually has a shine to it. Still, it looks like more of a lip stain than a lip gloss to me. Last up is the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream. It says it’s good for sensitive skin so I anticipate no problems when trying this out as soon as I run out of my current facial moisturizer.

I liked most of what I got so here’s to hoping the bags in 2019 will keep up this trend!

ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag

I know, I know…it’s October already! But I already took the pictures a while back and rather have them go to waste I’ll just make a quick post about it. Here’s what I got in my ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy September 2017 Glam Bag

The bag itself is pretty different from what I’ve come to expect from ipsy for years. I like how it’s edgy. First item that caught my eye is the NEOGEN Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop. I love trying out new facial serums. This is on my next to try as soon as I free up a spot for it in my facial care regimen. Next is Ciaté London Wonderwand Mascara. The shade I got this in is called Black Magic. I think this is the only shade this particular product item comes in for now though. Then we have the Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Radiance Primer. I don’t use primer much but I do testing with it to compare how it fares with other primers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s just a “thing” of mine. Next we have the The Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream. I’m finishing up something from Philosophy right now and I’ll make sure this is next or the one after the next face cream I use. Last up is Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Lip Gloss. The shade I got this in is Nude Beach. I got too many lip stuff open so I’ll add this to my gifting pile. It’s a nice shimmery shade with a gold duochrome flash.

Overall, pretty good. There’s a lot of stuff I will be using in this month’s bag.

Curtain Call: Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream

Hey there! How are you guys doing? Fall is definitely in the air. Some nights I can feel it in my bones! Brr! I’ve been busy with work and life in general but I decided to make a post today. Today’s post is another edition of Curtain Call. I got this product from my ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag. Here’s my take on the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream.

Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream

Stated from their website:

Restore smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin with this powerful anti-aging moisturizer that helps firm and hydrate the skin, while treating the signs of aging. Loaded with our patented peptides and natural vitamin C, this combination helps to enhance natural collagen reproduction and brighten complexion to a radiant glow…Infuse deep, rich hydration.

What I love about this product? It’s a simple to use product that comes in simple but nice packaging. The product itself is a white in color and is of the consistency between a facial moisturizer and a face cream. It’s not thick like what you’d think of a face cream and it leans more to the size of being a facial moisturizer. I personally love the scent so it doesn’t bother me that it’s strong if you sniff it directly. The scent is like a minty floral to me and dissipates fairly quickly after application since it is spread out. I get a warming sensation when I use it — definitely more noticeable the first time. I was bracing myself for burning or some other adverse reaction where I’d have to quickly wash my face but it was just a slight warming sensation that dissipates in less than a minute. I actually love that about this product. It makes me think the probiotics are working! Haha! My face feels so soft and smooth after application. I can’t say my skin is better or younger after use really but I love it.

What I don’t like about this product? Probably the price. For $68, you get 50 ml / 1.7 fl oz worth of product. Kinda steep but if it works then it’s worth it, right? I’m waiting for a sale on this. 🙂

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.

Curtain Call: L’Oréal REVITALIFT Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer

Today’s Curtain Call post is on a product that I got from Influenster a few months ago. Here’s what I think of L’Oréal REVITALIFT Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer.

L’Oréal REVITALIFT Triple Power Deep Acting Moisturizer

The box it comes in states the following about the product:

    DEEP-ACTING MOISTURIZER
    1. REPAIR WRINKLES
    2. RE-FIRM
    3. REDENSIFY
    PRO-XYLANE + HYALURONIC ACID

And on the back:

1. REPAIR WRINKLES
Revitalift Triple Power with Hyaluronic Acid rapidly penetrates skin to help fight each wrinkle.
2. RE-FIRM SKIN
Revitalift Triple Power with Concentrated Pro-Xylane firms and tightens skin.
3. REDENSIFY SKIN
Revitalift Triple Power with Concentrated Pro-Xylane re-volumizes to strengthen skin.

What I love about this product? The packaging is very nice and sturdy although I do worry about it being made of glass. I did drop it once accidentally onto my bathroom tile floor and ut didn’t break. I considered that dumb luck really. I can see some people finding the scent to be on the strong side. I personally didn’t mind the scent and it dissipates after a while. The scent makes me think of soap for the most part. I find it pleasant. The formula of the product is a little bit thicker than most moisturizers I’ve used. Some consider it a face cream and I can see that. To me, it’s something in between a facial moisturizer and face cream. The product goes on nicely and is absorbed really well into my skin. I don’t find it to be greasy at all, which is a big thing for me in my facial care regimen. It definitely keeps my face well moisturized throughout the entire day and every night. It’s perfect to use after I use my PMD, as that requires intense moisturizing after use. Other than that, I can’t really say anything about their claims of repairing wrinkles, re-firming and “redensifying” skin. My skin does feel soft with use. This entire tub lasted me for about 4 months.

What I don’t like about this product? I tested this product for approximately 4 months and the major con for me is that I believe this facial moisturizer is the cause of the breakouts I encountered in 3 separate occasions. The first time it happened, I was a week into trying this product out and I thought to myself “Nah, it’s could be what I’m eating or some other factors…” so I continued with use to determine that. Well, I’ve never had breakouts happen this much in a period of 4 months in over 10 years. So something in the formulation doesn’t really agree with my skin. I know that I’m not the only one who has noticed this but honestly every person’s skin is different so you might actually not encounter this with use. Because of this, while I was glad I had the opportunity to try it out at no cost — I will not be purchasing this in the future.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.

ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag

Hey guys! It’s been a busy few weeks for me here. Just trying to enjoy summer but there’s always work, chores and a hell of a lot of other stuff. But again, better late than never (heck, I just got my ispy Julu G;am Bag yesterday!) so here’s my take on the ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy June 2017 Glam Bag

The bag is made of canvas material I think. It’s functional but not really my style but that’s quite alright as someone else will get good use out of it. First item that caught my eye is the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream. It’s really hard not to notice it with such bright color for product packaging. Next up is the NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé. I’m not sure if I’ll try this out or not. I’m trying to minimize my makeup stash at the moment. The shade I got this in is Cocoa Bean. Then we have the Hey Honey Uncover Detoxifying Mud Mask. I like face masks, especially mud based ones so watch out for a review on it soon. Next we have the theBalm Balm Springs Blush. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — LOVE their packaging even the small ones like this. It’s so darn cute. I think I can rock this shade so it’s a keeper. Last up is Doucce Maxlash Volumizer Mascara. It’s going to my gifting pile as I have too many mascaras lined up to try already.

I wish the bag was different but can’t complain cause I’m so in love with July’s bag! 🙂

ipsy March 2017 Glam Bag

Hey y’all! I just got this in the mail 2 days ago and am about to start using some of what I got. Here’s my take on the ipsy March 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy March 2017 Glam Bag

The bag looks quite cute — like a beehive pattern! And it’s bigger than past ipsy bags, which I like a lot. But the material is prone to snagging for me so we’ll see if I’m going to actually use it or not. First item that caught my eye is the theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer. I LOVE the cute packaging they always have! This is a keeper for me. Next up is the So Susan Blush & Glow. I will look up for reviews and swatches on this before I open it. The shade I got this in is called Rose Rust. Then we have Marc Anthony True Professional Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment. I generally haven’t found anything from this brand that I dislike so I’ll be trying this out shortly and post my review on it. Next we have the JeNu High Tech Beauty Marine Collagen Mineral Gel. This is the type of product I’m looking for these days. I already started using it today. I put it on before I apply moisturizer. Last up is The Skone Cosmetics Luxe Pro Blending Brush. I retook the quiz again on ipsy as I thought I’ve said before that I didn’t want more makeup brushes yet I keep getting them still. This one goes into my extra random gifting pile.

Overall, much better than last month!

ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

Hey y’all! Today’s post is on a product I got from my ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s my thoughts on the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

What I love about this product? I like it a lot. I find the texture extremely pleasant to apply onto my skin. A lot of face creams and moisturizers feel greasy but this one doesn’t at all. The product is white in color and it absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It comes in a squeeze tube with a twist cap. The scent is on the more unique side for a face cream to me. Without reading anything on the tube, it struck me as a kind of floral scent leaning on the perfume-y side. Reading the description of it as a “pro-collagen marine cream”, the scent does have a “marine” quality to me although perfume-y. It definitely doesn’t smell of fish or seaweed if that’s what you’re thinking. I don’t find it too strong once applied onto my face but sniffing it from the tube it came across as pretty strong. My face feels like it is well-hydrated throughout the day with just this on.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really except for the price. It’s up there even if it feels like it’s a really nice product.

More information on this product and others they carry can be found on their website here.

Curtain Call: Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream

Hey y’all! I haven’t done a Curtain Call post in a while so here goes. This post is on a product I got from my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream.

The closest thing to this I found on their website is the 24Seven Honey Day & Night Cream. At 50 ml / 1.7 oz, this retails for $38 at their website. Did they rename this? I got the name from the ips. The back of the tube reads the following:

“24/7 is a rich cream that is neither greasy nor sticky and is ideal for use on face, neck and even the eye contour areas. Use on delicate areas that are commonly the first to demonstrate signs of aging to prevent dryness that causes wrinkles.”

Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream

Verdict? I actually love it. The texture is very pleasant to apply onto my skin. It is what it promised — neither greasy nor sticky. The texture is of a light cream and is white in color. Being able to use this on delicate areas such as around the eyes is a huge bonus. I’ve always use specific eye creams for the eye area. The scent is quite pleasant, something floral almost but not quite. It’s a little strong initially but it dissipates quickly and there’s no trace of it minutes after application. One thing I will say about the scent is that while I find the scent pleasant, others may not. It also kind of changes if I keep smelling it. It eventually smells of something that reminds me of a nurses office when I was young in school or something.

More information on this product and others they carry can be found on their website here.

ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag

Okay, so it has been a quiet month for me here. I took time to just focus on my life outside of the blog and I’m finally back — refreshed and all. A few sales I took advantage of helped with that too. What did you guys get on Black Friday? I only did minimal online shopping for Christmas. In fact, I have a good amount already wrapped up! Haha! Anyway, before I let November slip away…here’s my post on the ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag.

ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag

The bag has a cute pattern and the material makes me think it’s neoprene or something like that. Not my favorite kind of material, but cute still. First item that caught my eye is the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. I’m trying this out next week as I am running out of my current moisturizer. Next up is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I love mascaras. In fact, I have about 7 open ones currently. I just have to get myself to use them more these days. Next we have Absolute New York Matte Stick. The shade I got it in is Dark Red. I thought about keeping this but I already have a few red matte lip colors that I think my nieces would enjoy it more than I would. Then we have the Starlooks Cream Eye Shadow. The shade I got it in is Rose Gold. I honestly don’t care much for cream eye shadows so this will go in my bonus gifting pile. I’m sure one of my nieces would enjoy playing with it. Last up is Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Small Duo Fiber Brush. I don’t use makeup brushes that much and I already have a ton. Off this goes to the gifting pile! In all fairness though, the brush is super soft to the touch.

Absolute New York Matte Stick

Starlooks Cream Eye Shadow

Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Small Duo Fiber Brush

I took the test again to eliminate from getting makeup brushes but I’m still getting them about once every 2 months?! But I’ve read complaints on their quiz and how inaccurate it can be. Even so, I can’t wait to see what next month’s bag is like!

ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.

ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag

This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.

I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

Hey guys! 2016 is almost here! Are you setting any goals for yourselves next year? I used to do that but I find it not enjoyable at all, so instead I just strive to do better overall and take life one day at a time. Today’s post is on an item I got from the Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box. Here’s Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

What I love about this product? The gel formula barely has any scent at all, which is great for people who are more sensitive to that such like my husband. I took this with me on our trip to Vegas in September. When a few areas on his face was starting to dry out, I handed him this. It certainly does the trick in moisturizing well. I heard no complaints from him at all about it during the entire trip. I gave him this one to use over the Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion as that one had more of a scent than the Neutrogena one. It absorbs really fast into the skin with no oily residue at all. It’s like a drink of water for your skin — literally!

What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be picky, the price. But I won’t hesitate picking this up when it goes on sale or if it’s a good deal with coupons.

More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.

ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I was very surprised how fast I got this month’s bag. It was in the mailbox yesterday when my husband checked. Here’s what I got in my ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag.

ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag

First off, while I’m not in love with the bag….I still like it. I love the fact that it’s gold. The other side is in black patent. First item that caught my eye is the Emité Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer. I’ve been due for a new one so this might be a good contender. Next up is Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum. I’ve used a product from this brand before so I’m open to trying this one out. I hope the scent isn’t the same as even though the product I did try said it’s unscented….the scent made me gag slightly. Then we have the AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish. The shade everyone who got this is their bag is Inky Dinky. I’m not sure if I’m keeping this yet but I may just to compare how it fares to other brands. Next is the Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion. Last thing I need right now is more hand and body lotion since I have a ton from Bath & Body Works. I’ll probably have this as an additional gift to someone eventually. Last item is theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick. The shade that everyone who got this item in their bag is Committed.

Emité Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer

Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum

AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish

Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion

theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick

Overall, I’m most excited about the item from theBalm and I actually laughed at the name of the product (they’re pretty good and cute at naming their stuff!).

ipsy September 2015 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I got this in the mailbox when I was away on a short trip so I was wary about it since it was mildy hot here but everything seems to be okay. Here’s what I got in my ipsy September 2015 Glam Bag.

ipsy September 2015 Glam Bag

First off, the bag. I actually love it! I’m very excited since I really liked last month’s bag as well. Before that it was a series of pretty much mehs for me. First item that caught my eye is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream. I *think* I have this somewhere stashed from some Thanksgiving sale last year but I never got around to using it. Now I will have a travel sized one to use! This will ensure I actually get to try the product sooner. Next up is Formula X Nail Color. The shade I got is called Ignite. I have too many polishes to go through at the moment so I might just pass this on as a stocking stuffer to one of my nieces later on. Then we have the NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio. It looks to be a pretty nice trio and the colors seem like it will work for most eye colors. Next is tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon. I have too many lip items so off to the stocking stuffer stash it goes. Last item is the ACURE Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. Being that this is unscented, I’m keeping this baby for use when my husband and I go on one of our hikes.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream

Formula X Nail Color

NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio

tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon

ACURE Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes

Overall, the products are not bad but I do love the bag more. I was going to cancel but the auto-renewal kicked in and at the moment I’m okay with that. Haha, let’s see if I still feel that way next month (I hope so!).

Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer

Hey guys! It’s almost the end of the week once again. I look forward to getting more chores done and then catching up on some movies before the new week begins. I got the chance to use this most of the time for the past 2 – 3 months. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer.

Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer

This moisturizer comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. This is described on their website with the following: “Beautifully sheer, greaseless facial cream moisturizer that’s also a beautifully effective SPF #25 protection against sun’s damaging rays, wind, heat or cold. When you are outdoors, although you are not sun bathing, your skin still needs protection. But the usual suntan cream is either too heavy or it’s not a beautifying moisturizer. So, here’s a superb moisturizer that softens, makes skin look dewy fresh, leaves no oily residue and has a special sunscreen. Ideal daily use for the outdoor type, male or female. Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer provides many hours of protection.”

The back of the tub states the following directions: “Use daily — even when not sunbathing, apply 15 minutes prior to sun exposure.”

What I love about this product? It’s a very light formula with barely any scent. The product is white in color and not greasy at all. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last a long time for me as I only use it during the day. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my face right after I shower every morning. It absorbs quickly into the skin to keep it moisturized all day long. I don’t feel it on my face at all, which is one of the most important thing to me in a face cream or moisturizer.

What I don’t like about this product? My usual complaint on reviews is the pricing being on the high side but this time it’s the SPF. SPF 25 is the bare minimum for a face moisturizer in my regular skincare regimen for sun protection. I hope they’re looking into making the same product but upping the SPF protection. I’d definitely buy it again when they do that.

This item retails for about $13 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Curtain Call: Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream

Happy 4th of July to my readers in the US! I hope you’re all having a good time this weekend. Today’s post is a scheduled one as I am spending time with my cousins in Philly for this short holiday. Here’s another segment of Curtain Call and this time it’s on take on the Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream.

Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester &; DMAE Cream

This face cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. I threw away the box already so we’ll just go with the description on the website:

“Reviva Labs now offers a new answer to helping firm, tighten and “lift” skin with DMAE…as Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C Ester fight free radicals and future skin aging. As a special Reviva boost, this dramatic trio is encased in a soy liposome for deeper, time release action during the night. Allantoin and Aloe Vera are added to soothe and calm stressed skin, contributing to a healthy, vibrant glow. For supple, more youthful looking skin, it’s another major advance in the battle against skin aging. Benefits: helps improve skin tone and glow as its powerful antioxidant action fights free-radical damage. As your body rests during the night, you have hours of uninterrupted replenishing nutrients that help tighten and “lift” skin to treat the effects of time as it helps fight future skin aging.”

It is described on the side of the jar with the following:

“Contains the powerful antioxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C Ester, also features DMAE for firming action, this multifaceted formula helps tighten, firm and tone facial skin, as it fights future signs of aging. All 3 key ingredients are blended into a special soy liposome for deeper absorption.

A dramatic nutrient complex, this formula helps skin look younger and helps protect against future skin damage.”

The other side of the jar states the following directions: “Use at night. Apply lightly over entire face & throat. (Massage with upward movements)”

What I love about this product? The formula is extremely light. It goes on smoothly and my skin immediately absorbs it. I didn’t get to fully test this product because of a funny story really. I was about 3 weeks in using this face cream when I spent last Christmas over at my in-laws place. Amidst all the presents and such, I thought I must’ve misplaced the face cream I was using cause I couldn’t find it the day I was leaving. It also crossed my mind that maybe my dog took it. Feeling reassured that I must’ve packed it somewhere with all the stuff we were taking back with us, I left and figured I’d find it at home. Fast forward to 2 months ago. My MIL was telling me that the face cream she got for Christmas was awesome. I gave her a few and asked her which one it was and she sent me a picture of it. I laughed when I saw it cause that’s the missing face cream. And boy, she sang high praises for it that I made sure ULTA carries it and told her that so she could get it once it runs out. She loves how it doesn’t feel greasy on her face and she told me she really felt a difference in it and that it’s just a good face cream overall. She ran out of it last time I saw her which is 2 weeks ago. Using it once a day and lasting for a little over 6 months is impressive. I am sold on this because not only I liked it during the short time I got to use it but my MIL loved it as well. I remember the face cream being unscented and that’s another huge plus in my book. The jar it comes in clearly states “PARABEN FREE”.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing at all! This is one of my favorite face creams from this brand when taking my short experience and my MIL’s full experience into consideration.

This item retails for about $23 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

I recently got this in the mail and was going to take product shots on Sunday but was very busy with household chores. It was sunny and my husband actually got us a new game from Steam so he chipped in and took the product shots for me as I finished up the household chores. Bless his heart! He didn’t use the zoom function that I always do and actually even took product shots of the lotion foil packet sample as well as the fragrance vial sample. I would’ve skipped both of those but I can’t really complain with free help right? Here’s what I got with my Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box.

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box. There is one more item in this box than I’m used to, making this a pretty good deal for $5.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo

Neutrogena CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 70

NIVEA Soft Moisturizing Creme

NYC Liquid Lipshine Lip Gloss

Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash

Jergens Natural Glow

One Direction You & I Perfume

This is much better than the last box, Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box. The extra item contributed greatly to that and the samples are more applicable to me than the previous boxes. The coupons are nice too in this box.

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

My Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box came in right after I got back from my honeymooniversary. I missed out on their Winter 2014 one but I saw this when I was looking through my Instagram feed one day when I was at St. John and quickly grabbed my wallet and ordered it with the rental’s Wi-fi. I was so happy that my order went through and the email confirmation showed up in my inbox. I was really happy with last year’s box shown here. I hoped this box is just as good if not better and it did not disappoint! Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

L’Oréal Infallible® Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray

Maybelline COLOR ELIXIR™ BY COLOR SENSATIONAL®

TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hair Spray

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

I was excited to see the hair products the most. The first item I’ll end up using is probably the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream. I got 5 things for $5 shipped, which is really good. There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I hope none are damaged as the dry shampoo I got with last year’s box was a dud. It wouldn’t spray anything at all so it must’ve been damaged during shipping or something.

Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items.

Reviva Labs Ultra Rich Ultra Light Daytime Moisturizer

Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I’ve been trying for 2 months or so now. That’s the minimum amount of time I put a product like this to the test to see pretty reliable results. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Ultra Rich Ultra Light Daytime Moisturizer.

Reviva Labs Ultra Rich Ultra Light Daytime Moisturizer

This moisturizer comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. Description on the box is as follows:

  • Silky, Light Texture
  • Rich in Skin Softeners
  • Ideal Under Makeup
  • For Young and Old Alike

It is described on the side of the box and jar with the following:

Rich in Emollients and Vitamin C
Refines skin texture as it helps protect against pollutants, free radicals and moisture loss.
Helps dry skin feel smoother and look more radiant. And vitamin C provides extra protection from environmental damage.”

The back of the jar states the following directions: “Apply several dots of cream over face and massage on. Use under makeup or alone.”

What I love about this product? It’s rich while the formula is relatively light. A little goes a long way with this. Don’t let the texture of the product fool you. The product is white in color. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last me for at good while as it’s been almost 2 months of me using this and I have more than 3/4 of the product left in the jar. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my face right after I shower every morning. It absorbs relatively quick into the skin. There is a light scent to it that I dislike but can definitely tolerate. The best way I can describe the scent is it’s what unscented face cream would smell like to me (not perfume type of scent). It doesn’t linger on the skin for long, so it’s not a big deal to me. The box it comes in clearly states “PARABEN FREE”, “No Animal Ingredients” and “No Animal Testing”. Also visible on the box is “for normal to dry skin”.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really other than the scent maybe, but as mentioned earlier it doesn’t linger for long so it’s not even close to being a dealbreaker.

This item retails for about $11 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Reviva Labs InterCell Hyaluronic Acid Day Cream

Hey guys! Long time no post. I’m busy catching up now since I have tons of things lined up. Today’s blog post is on my view on another Reviva Labs product for the face. I have been using this according to the instructions provided for more than a month now. Here’s Reviva Labs InterCell Hyaluronic Acid Day Cream.

Reviva Labs InterCell Hyaluronic Acid Day Cream

This face cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. It is described on the box with the following:

  • Aids Skin’s Past, Present & Future
  • for normal to dry skin

A unique dimension in daytime moisturizing!.

“Free radicals” and ultraviolet rays break down skin’s hyaluronic acid, reducing skin’s ability to hold moisture and resist aging.

InterCell Day Cream supplements InterCell Night Gel…providing vital hyaluronic acid to help skin gain and retain more moisture…for softer, more supple skin.

What you don’t see is just as important: InterCell’s protective benefits. Its glycogen ingredient and special blending add a new dimension of protection to skin’s surface — combating pollution and environmental damage.

DIRECTIONS: Apply under makeup or use alone. Massage a small amount into well-cleansed skin.”

What I love about this product? The consistency is almost perfect, much lighter than one of my favorite creams from them — Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante. It is very moisturizing and easy to use. My skin absorbs it immediately and stays hydrated throughout the day. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last me for at least 4 months or so. The scent is one I can’t identify still, but it’s very familiar. My co-worker friend Renu noted that it reminds her of a soap scent she has encountered when she was younger and that may as well be it for me as well. The cream itself is white in color, so apply a little bit at a time to avoid white streaks from using too much. The box it comes in states clearly “PARABEN FREE”, “No Animal Ingredients” and “No Animal Testing”. As always, a good thing.

What I don’t like about this product? While I still prefer one of their other face creams, there is nothing that I don’t like about the product. It does the job and is affordable for what you get.

This item retails for about $14 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

My Physicians Formula #PFGoBronze Contest Prize

Christmas came early for me! I started to be a fan of Physicians Formula thanks to their Happy Booster line mostly. All those cute hearts in their blushes, bronzers and face powders sucked me into being a die-hard addict of their products. I entered their Instagram contest during the summer on a whim and won! I’m one of the 10 winners of their #PFGoBronze contest! I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get my prize. I actually forgot about it recently due to work being so hectic and then a box showed up at the door yesterday when I got home. It was like Christmas to me! 🙂 Here’s my loot….

Physicians Formula #PFGoBronze Contest Prize

And here’s the winning shot for the contest…

Physicians Formula #PFGoBronze Contest Entry

You can see my other entries too to this contest on my Instagram. I already started using the lip gloss and am about to play with the face powder. I couldn’t believe my luck….I only already own one thing from the entire set. Which one? The bronzer of course! 🙂

Reviva Labs Collagen Regeneration Cream

Hey guys! Today’s blog post is on my view on another Reviva Labs product that I’ve had the opportunity to try. I have been using this according to the instructions provided for about 4 months now. Here’s Reviva Labs Collagen Regeneration Cream with Tissue Growth Factors.

Reviva Labs Collagen Regeneration Cream

This regeneration cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. It is formerly known as TGF Beta-1 Cream and is described on the box with the following:

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Improves skin tone, texture and firmness
  • Enhances the skin’s natural ability to rejuvenate

“When Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3, a natural growth factor, is blended with other growth factor and wrinkle smoother ingredients, a unique formula is the result. One that can repair environmentally damaged collagen as it helps produce new collagen.

Other peptides, retinol and collagen serums may help stimulate new collagen production, but the new cells copy the DNA of damaged cells so the new collagen is imperfect. Thus, other peptides, etc. do not repair damaged collagen.

Reviva’s Collagen Regeneration Cream is distinct because it both repairs damaged cells and stimulates new collagen. So current collagen is “corrected” and new collagen flourishes. This renewed collagen combination improves tissue structure, helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and enhances overall skin tone and texture.

Can be use alone or OVER serums, gels or Glycolic cream.”

The back of the jar states the following directions: “Apply morning and night. Use OVER serums, gels, or glycolic cream. Alternate in 2-week cycles with your current day/night regimen.”

What I love about this product? It has almost no noticeable scent to it and it does moisturize my skin. The formula of this cream is light compared to the Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante. It is gel like in appearance, almost clear in color. The 2 oz / 55 g container will last me for at least 8 months or so; longer than other creams I’ve tried just because of following the directions given where you use this in 2-week cycles. It is very easy to apply and determine how much product to use compared to that other cream. It absorbs very quickly into my skin. One side of the box it comes in states clearly “PARABEN FREE” and “No Animal Testing”. That’s always a plus for me!

What I don’t like about this product? I don’t notice much improvement in my skin in terms of rejuvenation. I can’t speak for fine lines and wrinkles, but this would be a good cream to start in prevention of those I would think. It did improve my skin tone, texture and firmness ever so slightly. Maybe with continued use I would see more of this. But as to rejuvenation…I think this is pretty subjective, but I was hoping that it would help lessen the appearance or improve the look of a few pimple scars. Granted that the scars I’m talking about are the deep kind (one of the regrets in my teen years!) – I was still hoping that the collagen regeneration factor in this cream would affect it positively somehow, but it didn’t really. Of course, the product never stated that it would heal pimple scars and marks – that is just an assumption on my part. But who knows? Maybe with prolonged continuous use this will eventually happen. For the price, it’s not bad for what I’ve experience and what I “might” get eventually. It is not a sure thing for me to repurchase though unlike their other night cream (I LOVE THAT ONE), but it’s worth a try. I will continue with this unless I’m testing another cream for about 2 months straight or something and if I have any new breaking news about this product, I’ll be sure to make another post on it.

This item retails for about $35 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante

Hey guys! Today’s blog post is on my take with another Reviva Labs product that I’ve had the opportunity to try. I have been using this faithfully for the past month or so with decent results. Here’s Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante.

Reviva Labs Cream Hydratante

This hydrating night cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. This is described with the following: “Cream Hydratante is a very unique night cream for skin that has lost moisture, but not severely dehydrated.

Generally, it’s ideal for young, dry sensitive skin, or combination skin…or even oily skin. For rough or irritated skin, Cream Hydratante also helps soothe and calm. Active ingredients include Allantoin and Camomile; oils are specially refined. Wax helps confine action to the skin surface so oils are not absorbed further.”

The back of the bottle states the following directions: “At night, apply to clean face and throat with wet fingertips. Mix with a little water in palm of hand (to thin it) before application. Also ideal for very oily skin that gets a dry surface from harsh soaps or drying products.”

What I love about this product? It lives up to what it’s supposed to do. As with lots of their other products, a little goes a long way. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last me for at least 4 months or so. The texture is very thick and not of spreadable quality. I tried the suggested method of application of mixing it with a little bit of water and just directly applying a little bit on several spots on my face. Both ways will work, but the suggested direction of use will probably be what I recommend for anyone trying out this product. The cream is really thick that one may feel like they’re stretching out their facial skin if they’re using it directly as is. It will feel more on the heavier side on the face, as expected with such a thick cream formula. It is very moisturizing and perfect for my skin type, combination. It’s not that greasy at all, maybe only slightly during the first time I’ve used it. After that, it didn’t feel greasy at all to me. The scent is one that stumped me for a while. It smells very familiar but I couldn’t pinpoint what it was until recently. It smells just like Ivory soap, which isn’t a bad thing. It brings back good memories and is quite comforting. The back of the box it comes in states clearly “No Animal Ingredients” and “No Animal Testing”. Another thumbs up from me for that!

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing. For the price, this is a sure thing for me. I will not hesitate purchasing it once I run out and have nothing around to use for a night cream.

This item retails for about $14 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Curtain Call: Artistry Time Defiance Nighttime Renewal Creme

Hey guys! Here’s another segment of Curtain Call and I’ll have to keep this one short and sweet. The product up for review at the end of its life is Artistry Time Defiance Nighttime Renewal Creme.

At 50 ml / 50 g / 1.76 oz, I remember the price tag was pretty steep to other facial moisturizers and cremes I’ve purchased. Looking at their website, it seems like they have renamed this to Artistry Time Defiance Night Recovery Creme. It comes in a sturdy white tub container with a gold screw top lid. This is described on their website with the following:

  • Skin “remembers” how to be young again
  • Derma Cell Exchange helps restore skin’s vital communication network
  • Helps repair the visible signs of aging caused by environmental stresses
  • Restores a youthful appearance while you sleep
  • Restores and promotes skin’s firmness and elasticity
  • Advanced antioxidant protection shields skin from free radical damage for up to 10 hours

Artistry Time Defiance Nighttime Renewal Creme

Verdict? Not bad, but I’ll pass. As a facial creme, it does hydrate my skin very well for the night. A little goes a long way. I am not a huge fan though on the grease level, which is why I will reiterate this point again: a little goes a long way. Another things I am not too thrilled about is the scent. Formula is good, but the scent is a little on the medicine-y side to me. It’s not too strong though and I was able to stand it. I don’t really notice any huge changes to my skin in comparing before and after use of this product really. With that said, I’d rather keep my options open and look around for other more worthy facial moisturizers or cremes for a cheaper price probably.

This product can easily be purchased by going through their website or by contacting your local Amway representative.

AVON Anew Solar Advance Sunscreen Face Lotion

What’s important in a facial moisturizer? Emphasis has been given on sunscreen protection for many years now. I hate to admit that I haven’t really cared about the importance of having SPF in my facial moisturizer until probably a year ago. I’ve never been to a dermatologist before. I might eventually get an appointment for one in the next few months just to see what they have to say about the condition of my skin in general. I have tried a new facial moisturizer lately, one that has more SPF than anything I’ve used before for my face. Enter AVON’s Anew Solar Advance Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 45.

AVON Anew Solar Advance Sunscreen Face Lotion

The facial moisturizer comes in a sleek golden-yellow squeeze bottle container and is packed in a golden box. The back of the box states the following:

“Anti-aging sun care breakthrough with RepairShield™ Technology is formulated to help protect skin from UVA/UVB and help visibly reduce the signs of sun damage.

Facial cream dramatically reduces the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots.

70% of women agree skin looks beautiful and years younger.*

Lightweight, non-greasy. No white residue. Non-comedogenic. Oil free. Very water-resistant.

*Based on those who expressed an opinion in consumer perception testing.”

The back of the bottle (and the box) reads the following directions:

To Use: Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply as needed or after towel drying, swimming or perspiring. Children under 6 months of age: ask a doctor.

Warning: For external use only. When using this product keep out of eyes. Rinse with water to remove. Stop use and ask a doctor if rash or irritation develops or lasts. Keep out of reach of children.

Uses: Helps prevent sunburn. Higher SPF gives more sunscreen protection. High sun protection product. Retains SPF after 80 minutes of activity in the water.

AVON Anew Solar Advance Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 45

What I love about this product? It has a higher SPF than my previous facial moisturizer. The tube packaging it comes in is easy to use and carry. I can slip it easily into my purse and it doesn’t shatter when I drop it (which happened several times). It stays true to the description on the box stating that it’s lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t leave a white residue. The product is a bit thicker than a lot of facial moisturizers I have used and will feel slightly greasy at first, but it dissolves right onto my face and it doesn’t feel greasy at all after that. I have used this product for 4 weeks now and noticed that my face doesn’t get as dark as it usually does in the same amount of time. The added SPF does make a difference in my experience. Removal is also easy. I just wash my face with my usual facial wash and it comes right off.

What I don’t like about this product? Not much to complain here really. For 2.6 oz of product and a $34 price tag, this is in the median range for a good facial moisturizer. Where to get it might be the problem for some since this is not sold in retail or drugstores. But I’m sure you can always track down a local AVON store or AVON lady by you.

For the price, it’s worth it compared to similar items from other brands. This is a product I will definitely buy again.
