February was such a busy month for me. I co-hosted a baby shower a few weeks ago and February was the month where we did everything that is needed for it. Venue search was a little frantic in the beginning but it all worked out. Invitations were sent out with 3 weeks to RSVP and I was busy DIY-ing stuff for it in all of my free time last month. All in all, everything went smoothly on the day of and I now have more time for the blog. 🙂 Since I missed blogging last month, here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2018 Glam Bag.
The bag is okay. I can see the romantic aspect of it but I thought it would scream more Valentine’s to me than this. But moving on, first item that caught my eye is the BLAQ Meteor Shower. I’m currently saving it for a day or night out or something — it’s sitting in my shower. I read a few reviews on it and like what I’m hearing so far. Next item that caught my eye is the Sand&Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask. The bright-colored tube caught my eye and I noticed a trend here….BLAQ is an Australian brand and so is Sand&Sky! Then we have the MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is called Foiled Again. I don’t use this kind of beauty product much so it will be a good stocking stuffer for someone. Next we have the Luxie Beauty Blending and Shading Eye Brush. I think I retook the quiz after I got this in my bag again. One of the things I don’t need more of is makeup brushes. Last up is Seraphine Botanicals Lychee + Gold – Healthy Glow Rose-Gold Blush. The packaging of this product is simply elegant and stunning! I’m in love with the packaging for sure.
With the weather warming up, I can see myself using up half of these items I got in this month’s bag.
Better late than never! Here’s my take on the ipsy August 2017 Glam Bag.
While the bag is cute, I am more interested in the makeup items I got. First item that caught my eye is the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask. They can attribute that to the bright eye-catching packaging color. I use face masks at least twice a week now so there will be a post on this in 2 months or so. Next is SUGAR Cosmetics Stroke Of Genius Heavy Duty Kohl. The shade I got is 01 Back to Black. I think this is the only shade this particular product item comes in for now though. Then we have the Hey Honey Come Clean: Propolis & Minerals Facial Scrub. I’ve been using this about thrice a week and will be posting about it in the next few days. Next we have the MAKE UP FOR EVER EXCESSIVE LASH Arresting Volume Mascara. I have used products from this brand with fairly good results so I’m keeping this one to try out later. Last up is theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is Kuwakaribisha. It’s a nice, light shimmery shade that is quite versatile as it can also be used as a highlighter.
Overall, very nice. My next bag should be coming soon and I can’t wait to see what I get!
What a month it’s been! Time sure flies by fast. It felt like the holidays were just here. I got this in earlier but I wasn’t too excited about it so I took my time in posting about it. Here’s my take on the ipsy February 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag is made of denim — not really my cup of tea but seems to be built pretty good even though it’s thin. First item that caught my eye is the NYX Butter Lipstick. The shade I got this in is called Ripe Berry. I LOVE this shade and have high hopes that it translates the same onto my lips. Next up is the True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask. I will be trying this out shortly so stay tuned for a blog post on my thoughts on it. The directions on how to use this seems pretty straightforward: “Massage on dry skin (yep, dry), leave on for two to five minutes, then just wipe off with a damp washcloth (no need to rinse). We like using it twice a week before bedtime.” Then we have Lord & Berry Eye Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. This is a nice small-sized eye pencil that I can take with me even when I’m only carrying the bare minimum. I can’t wait to try this out! Next we have MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is called You’re Toast. It looks to be a pretty gold shade. Last up is The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream. This item made me think about it a lot. The skin around the eye and the lips are quite different so I’m having a hard time seeing how a product can effectively affect both areas BUT I’ll try it out and share my thoughts on it here later on.
Overall, eh….I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I was expecting more out of the makeup bag itself as February is Valentine’s Day but I think they just didn’t go with the Valentine’s theme this time around. That’s cool….I can’t wait to see next month’s bag now! I actually see it on the website right now and it looks so cute and chic!
Okay, so it has been a quiet month for me here. I took time to just focus on my life outside of the blog and I’m finally back — refreshed and all. A few sales I took advantage of helped with that too. What did you guys get on Black Friday? I only did minimal online shopping for Christmas. In fact, I have a good amount already wrapped up! Haha! Anyway, before I let November slip away…here’s my post on the ipsy November 2016 Glam Bag.
The bag has a cute pattern and the material makes me think it’s neoprene or something like that. Not my favorite kind of material, but cute still. First item that caught my eye is the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. I’m trying this out next week as I am running out of my current moisturizer. Next up is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I love mascaras. In fact, I have about 7 open ones currently. I just have to get myself to use them more these days. Next we have Absolute New York Matte Stick. The shade I got it in is Dark Red. I thought about keeping this but I already have a few red matte lip colors that I think my nieces would enjoy it more than I would. Then we have the Starlooks Cream Eye Shadow. The shade I got it in is Rose Gold. I honestly don’t care much for cream eye shadows so this will go in my bonus gifting pile. I’m sure one of my nieces would enjoy playing with it. Last up is Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Small Duo Fiber Brush. I don’t use makeup brushes that much and I already have a ton. Off this goes to the gifting pile! In all fairness though, the brush is super soft to the touch.
I took the test again to eliminate from getting makeup brushes but I’m still getting them about once every 2 months?! But I’ve read complaints on their quiz and how inaccurate it can be. Even so, I can’t wait to see what next month’s bag is like!
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a weeks ago or so but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work (still) that what time I have left I just go do other things that I enjoy to relax. Here’s what I got in my ipsy July 2016 Glam Bag.
First, the bag — HOLO?! Hell yeah! I LOVE it! I didn’t care for the print much but the holo goodness just stands out so I don’t mind at all. And it’s made out of the thicker material so this is now in rotation as my phone case (yes, I carry my phone in ipsy bags made of thicker material as it doesn’t have an actual real phone case). The first item that caught my eye is the theBalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is called Matt Kumar and it’s described as a “matte cranberry”. I would’ve probably liked the other shade available sent to other ipsy subscribers called Matt Moskowitz. That one’s described as a “matte plum”. In general, I think plums would look better on me as an Asian than cranberry. But the packaging is so cute, as usual, and the name is catchy that I’m keeping this. I actually realized that I own more of theBalm products than I thought I did. Good brand for a decent price in my opinion. Next items that caught my eye are the SHRAY face masks. The ones I got are Ms. Amazing & Queen Bee. I have been slacking off in using face masks that I was just reminded of that with these. I’m going to make an effort again to use them including these 2. Then we have the Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. I’m excited to receive this as I’ve been testing different makeup primers for the past few years now and didn’t have one from Too Faced on hand to test. Next up is the Vasanti Contour Eyeshadow Brush. Well, I definitely did NOT need more makeup brushes in general and I’ve retaken the ipsy quiz to indicate that but whatever. The rest of what I got was good so I’ll just put this in the extra gifts makeup pile for others. Last up is the Not Soap, Radio joy inducing hand/body lotion. I looked up this brand as I couldn’t really tell if it had more than one line of products with different scents or not and discovered that the hand and body lotion I got fell under their Be Happy category on the website. I like the scent of lemons and sugar so I think this might be the one to keep an eye on. It brings me back to when I was a huge fan of the C.O. Bigelow Lemon Sugar Body Scrub (discontinued now if I’m not mistaken).
With the exception of the makeup brush, I’m loving everything I got! Can’t wait for next month now!
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.
This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.
I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.
Hey guys! I’ll try to keep this short as I’m looking at a super busy weekend. Here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag.
I think the bag is very cute! The print makes me think of all things retro and Austin Powers. First item that caught my eye is the Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body Cream. I have received a hand cream of the same brand in a previous glam bag and remembered liking it. I’ll keep this to try out as soon as my current body lotion runs out. Next up is Beau Gâchis Paris Smudge Brush. I don’t wear makeup a lot and already have a lot of makeup brushes so I’ll keep this in my stocking stuffer stash. Then we have theBalm Mr. Write (Now). This eye liner has a catchy name and a built-in sharpener. The shade I got is in Jack B. Bronze, which is a rich bronze. I can’t wait to try this out as I’m curious to how their eye liners are. Next is the pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum. I’m about to switch my eye cream and this seems to be a good one to try out. Last item is the Hikari Cream Metallic Pigment Shadow. The shade I got is called Mink. Eye shadow is one kind of product I have too much of already so I’ll save this for someone else.
Overall, pretty good! I’m looking forward to next month’s bag already.
Hey guys! This week was super hectic. I even worked some today and it’s a Saturday! Hopefully it’ll be over soon. It just makes me look forward to my upcoming staycation even more. I was sent this recently. It was a total surprise really! I just got the package one day — so thank you Borghese! There will be detailed reviews on each product as time goes on but for now, here’s what you get with the Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set.
This set is currently available still on their website and is on sale! The sale price is actually a very good deal that I would’ve taken advantage of if the set I have wasn’t sent to me. The item I am most excited about in this set is surprisingly the palette. The only makeup item I’ve used from Borghese is their nail polish and I love their formula and colors. But other than that, I know the brand more for their skin care products. The lipcolor is in the shade Grappa while the lip glosses are in shades Spark and Simmer. The eye liner is in the shade Pitch Black. Enough yappin’ here and let’s get to the goods.
Direct link to this set is located here. Honestly, I would’ve asked for this for Christmas or treated myself to it if I wasn’t sent this set.

Hey guys! I got this in the mailbox when I was away on a short trip so I was wary about it since it was mildy hot here but everything seems to be okay. Here’s what I got in my ipsy September 2015 Glam Bag.
First off, the bag. I actually love it! I’m very excited since I really liked last month’s bag as well. Before that it was a series of pretty much mehs for me. First item that caught my eye is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream. I *think* I have this somewhere stashed from some Thanksgiving sale last year but I never got around to using it. Now I will have a travel sized one to use! This will ensure I actually get to try the product sooner. Next up is Formula X Nail Color. The shade I got is called Ignite. I have too many polishes to go through at the moment so I might just pass this on as a stocking stuffer to one of my nieces later on. Then we have the NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio. It looks to be a pretty nice trio and the colors seem like it will work for most eye colors. Next is tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon. I have too many lip items so off to the stocking stuffer stash it goes. Last item is the ACURE Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. Being that this is unscented, I’m keeping this baby for use when my husband and I go on one of our hikes.
Overall, the products are not bad but I do love the bag more. I was going to cancel but the auto-renewal kicked in and at the moment I’m okay with that. Haha, let’s see if I still feel that way next month (I hope so!).
Hey guys! The month is almost over and this month’s ipsy was so-so that I almost didn’t want to blog about it. It’s not the worst bag I’ve ever got from them but none of the items excite me as much as it used to. At least I think this month’s bag is better than last month’s. The print is colorful and very unlike last month’s black bag with a weird texture. Here’s what I got in my ipsy July 2015 Glam Bag.
First item that caught my eye is the Octavio Molina Hair La Playa Salt Spray. I can’t wait to play around with this more as there are times that I need more oomph. Next item is the Be A Bombshell Lip Balm. The shade I got is French Kiss, which is a light pink. I’m trying to trim down my lip products so I’ll probably pass this on to my nieces. Next up is Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser. I’m eager to try this out but I’m finishing something up at the moment so it will have to wait. Then we have OFRA Bliss Eyeshadow. I wasn’t eager to try this product out for 2 main reasons: the packaging and it’s another eye shadow. I am trying to use up what I currently own in terms of lots of kinds of products and eye shadow is one of them. Now the packaging doesn’t make it easy to pass this on in terms of presentation so I may just try it out. Last item is the Tarte Deluxe Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I already own this from a mini set last year. This shade is called park ave princess. I may gift this to someone else since I don’t think I’ll hit the pan on the one I already have anytime soon.
Overall, some items are better than last month. I hope next month’s is much better though because I’m honestly thinking about canceling this. I think I already have too much stuff around to use up.
Hey guys! The weather got dreary again with the rain. It’s nice after the short but very hot few days we have here in Oklahoma. I’ve got a chance to sneak in some pictures though before this rainy weather started. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2015 Glam Bag.
I didn’t really care for the bag this month but I do find the material interesting. First item that caught my eye is the bulkiest one of the 5: SheaMoisture Shea Butter Lip Crayon. The shade I got is Sarah, which looks bright fuchsia to me right off the bat. I was thinking of giving this away just because I have so many lip products open at the moment but we’ll see. Next item I fished out is the tre’StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon. I got this shade in Aspen Pine. I’m definitely passing this one on as I am trying to trim down my current makeup stash. Then we have dr. brandt® pores no more® vacuum cleaner. I’m eager to try this product out as it deals with pores and I have pretty large pores. Next I got Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I’m debating on keeping this one because I’m always searching for a good makeup primer just for my own reference really. I’m curious which brand of makeup primer will perform the best at a good price point. Last item is the Pure Brazilian Miracle Leave-In Conditioner. Hair conditioning item? Sign me up. I’ll be putting this to the test the next few weeks.
Overall, last month’s was better unfortunately. I hope it picks up again because I’m debating on signing up for another subscription service instead of this one actually. Any recommendations?
“Long time no see Influenster!” is what I literally said to myself (again!) when I got this in the mail. I was very surprised when I got an email that I qualified for it because it’s been so long! The Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015 contains various items that is not targeted in any specific department such as beauty or wellness. It’s a mix of things and I’m very excited to cover them all in future posts. Here are the contents of the box:
The Nasoya item is happily sitting in the fridge right now and I passed one of the Bear Naked goodies to my husband to snack on. The Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo has been in use for the past few days now. I can tell you as early as now that I’m quite impressed with that one. More details to come in the next few days!
*Products featured here are received complimentary to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program.*
Hey guys! This month’s ipsy came when I was away on my honeymooniversary trip. I saw some people I follow post their ipsy for this month and they look good! I was hoping mine was just as good too. Here’s what I got in my ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag.
This month’s ipsy bag showed some promise but in the end, I’ll be passing most of the items on to someone else that can give it more love than I am willing to give. I just have too much makeup at this point for someone that doesn’t use makeup at all. Let’s start first with the bag. It’s a cute summery basket weave type of material. It’s pretty and I’m debating on keeping it. First item that caught my eye is the Hey Honey Good Morning – Honey Silk Facial Serum. The word honey in a beauty product just has a positive spin to me. I’m eager to try this out and am hoping the scent will be good. Next is the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint. I typically don’t like combo type of beauty products like this as I like different formulas for my cheeks and my lips. Products with the same type of formula for those will typically be okay for my cheeks but too dry for my lips or very heavy (even greasy) for my cheeks and perfect for my lips. This is a pass for me. The packaging is pretty though. Then we have JulieG Nail Color in the shade Damsel. I own too many nail polishes at this point for me to start with this brand. I’ve used this brand before and thought it was only okay. The color isn’t one I gravitate to immediately so I’ll be passing this on to someone else. The theBalm NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single I got is in the shade Flirty. I recently reviewed the theBalm NUDE ‘tude® Nude Eyeshadow Palette and the formula is pretty good overall. I expect this to be almost the same. The packaging is quite creative and fun as well. Last item is the Gállány Cosmetics Lipstick. The shade I got is Petal. It’s a very “safe” kind of color in my opinion. The sleek packaging looks nice and sophisticated. Not sure if I’m keeping it as I have too many lip products already.
Overall, I was excited at first but then when I went through what each product is and if I can use it….meh. It’s only okay in the end. Better luck next month?
Hey guys! I’ve been gone for the past few days due to some life stuff. It didn’t help that the first tornado of the season for me came along last Wednesday. It was surreal because the sirens did not go off until after my FIL called us to ask if we were in a safe spot already. But while it did land in our town, it wasn’t in my immediate area. I’m just glad it wasn’t a strong one like the May 20th one from 2 years ago. Moving on, today’s post is on an eye shadow palette that I’ve been testing for the past few days. Here’s theBalm NUDE ‘tude® Nude Eyeshadow Palette.
The packaging for this is the nice version. There is a naughty version too with girls on the palette with the eye shadow shades strategically placed over their bodies. Both versions contain the same shades, only the packaging appearance is different. At $36 for 0.382 oz of product in 12 different shades, this palette is actually more versatile and affordable than I originally thought. It’s much bigger too. I balked at the price of this for the longest time because I thought the sizing of this palette is about half of what it really is. I thought it’s a more compact palette and didn’t think that it warranted the price tag. When I got it, it was larger than the regular size Hershey’s chocolate bar. This slim palette comes with a dual-ended eye shadow and liner brush. I actually liked that it’s not a foam applicator but an actual brush. The palette itself is made of sturdy cardboard. I just make a note to avoid getting it in contact with any liquids as it’s something I don’t think about with non-cardboard palettes. The first shot above shows the palette in a cardboard sleeve bearing the same design as the actual palette. I kept it to provide more protection to the palette. The palette has a magnet enclosure. While most of the shades are quite pigmented, they are inconsistent in terms of texture. Some are slightly sheerer than others and little bit on the chalky side. I have this issue with Sultry for sure. Silly applied a little patchy for me when swatched on the arm but fared better when I applied it on my eyelids. I was originally worried about Sexy and Serious but it proved to be unwarranted (at least as a liner). Both performed nicely as a liner on my water line. I was actually very impressed that at the end of the day they stayed put with minimal wear. The way it wears actually gave me more of a smoky look than the dreaded raccoon eyes. I’m sold at this point. The lighter shades like Sassy, Stubborn and Stand-offish can definitely be used to highlight. Swatches below are shown from left to right and top row then bottom row. I used 2 swipes of each shade to show texture differences and consistencies.
Overall, a good palette for the price you’re paying and the quality you’re getting. This palette is available at wherever theBalm products are sold including Beauty Bridge.

Hey guys! I got this month’s offerings from ipsy a few days ago and I’m happy to say things are looking up! I had a great run with ipsy for a long time and then the stuff I got from the last few bags just didn’t really do it for me. The bags itself were more misses than hits lately too although I tried to stay positive about them all. This month’s a whole different story! Here’s what I got in my ipsy March 2015 Glam Bag.
While I ‘m not a huge fan of floral prints, I absolutely adore this month’s bag! The colors are so pretty and soothing. It’s refreshing and I think I’m going to pass this cute number along to one of my nieces. The colors in this just reminds me of her. I’ve never heard of the brand Chella so I was curious as to what the product could be. I thought it was an eye shadow pencil initially, but it’s actually a highlighter. I don’t highlight at all, so I’ll save this to pass it on to someone who does. Next item is from a brand I am very familiar with. I’ve never tried anything from Sexy Hair before until I got one of my favorite hair care items to date (Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner) in my ipsy January 2014 Glam Bag. With that said, I’ve been looking for another leave-in hair treatment and the Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Creme Oil fits the bill. The NYX Butter Lipstick shade I got is called Little Susie. It’s a very pretty shade that I actually like — I’m keeping this one. I heard the formula is quite lovely, so I’m looking forward to providing a full review here soon. I also got the MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow this month and like most eye shadows I get from my past ipsy glam bags….I’ll be passing this one to someone else who can use it. The last item I got is the dr. brandt® pores no more anti-aging mattifying lotion. This item intrigues me and I’ll be trying it out starting tomorrow. I don’t wear any makeup at all usually (just moisturize and go!) and I’d like to see if this actually works. I have pretty big pores that I detest, but I like the ease of not wearing much makeup at all (aka moisturizer only).
Now that this bag got me all excited about ipsy again, I can’t wait for the next month’s bag! 🙂
The Holiday season is long over but I’m only getting to some of the stuff I got during that time right now. There is just so many new things that beauty companies bring out for that time of the year. They are big sellers of course being that most of them are seasonal so they’re limited edition. Today’s post is on one of those kind of items. I mentioned it in my Holiday 2014 Shopping Ideas post earlier, here’s Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector’s Set.
I wasn’t actually going to get this until the after Holiday sales kicked in, but that would mean I chance it selling out. I didn’t get the ULTA exclusive set from Tarte for 2013 and kinda regret that. I didn’t want that to happen again so I picked this up when ULTA had one of their 20% off sale on everything. This retailed for $48 before tax, which is a pretty good value since the bulk of this set consists of their Amazonian clay eye shadows and blushes. As I mentioned before, I really like the feel of their Amazonian clay products on my skin. In my opinion, it’s very lightweight with decent lasting power. The portable case to hold the quadrant of eye shadows and blush selected is very cute! The pearls accent and the Tiffany blue kind of color for the case gives me the feel of luxury. I know that the shot with the eye shadow and blush names isn’t clear where the text is because of the shadow, but hopefully you can still make out what it says for the most part.
I don’t know if I’ll be picking any more Tarte stuff up after this just cause I don’t use makeup that much. I haven’t even used any of this at all. I definitely don’t regret picking this up though! 🙂
Hey guys! It’s been a while! I do apologize but life gets in the way and it always comes before the blog. Aside from general life stuff, I have been going candle crazy lately at Bath & Body Works’ semi-annual sale that ended recently. I LOVE candles, but have refrained from really getting into them until I saw stuff about their Sweet Shop line released last year. I was bummed that I missed out on them but I found out that some stores still had some of those scents! It’s basically me playing catch up with a year’s worth of released candle scents that I like. I even got my co-worker sis Renu to pick some up for me when she was in Dallas. Some are White Barn (candle brand and sister company of BBW) exclusives and that’s the closest one to us. Her brother is in the Dallas area so she picked some up for me when she happened to stop by. I didn’t realize she was a huge fan of candles too until recently. I remember her stating she likes candles but I thought it was more like just liking something in general. I’m so happy to have someone around me that appreciates the joy a scented candle brings! I got this in the mail a few days ago and I’ll be honest….I just left it on my kitchen counter for a few days. I did open it but nothing wowed me (versus shipments of scented candles, that is). I got the chance to go through it 2 days ago and wow….I am unexpectedly surprised by the most unexpected item I got. Here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag.
My first thoughts are on the bag….not bad. I like this one much better than a few of their recent ones. I do love the material it is made out of. It will provide some protection from stuff like water droplets on a rainy day. The first item that caught my eye was the Hikari Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner. I do have a decent amount of this kind of product on hand from other brands, but there’s something about this that makes me want to try it out. I’m hoping it’s a winner since eye liners can be hit or miss really. I tend to like the ones that have a creamier formula in stick form like from Milani. The shade I got is in Storm, which is described as slate grey. The next item I looked at made me scratch my head for a moment because of the product packaging. I’m cycling though my facial moisturizer soon, so I’ll give this a try I think. My only concern is with the scent of this product. I read some reviews from fellow ipsy subscribers and they mentioned a cucumber type of smell. I don’t tolerate cucumber type scents well in beauty products especially on my face. I don’t know….I may just pass this on for someone else to try. The Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo made me think of the Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer I have. It’s a product that I’d use in a similar manner. I’m not sure if I’ll get to try this as I have several of this type of product open at the moment from various brands. Next item is the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow. The shade I got is in Treasure. It looks to be a nice shade but I’ll be passing it on to one of my nieces since I have too many of this type of product (yet again) open already. This is the first time I actually thought about canceling my subscription. I keep getting stuff that I already have a ton of! The last item is my favorite from this month’s bag. That actually surprised me because I overlooked it due to its super simple packaging. It’s the gem in my bag this month. I already tried it and I love it! It’s slightly minty and fresh. It goes on clear and reminds me of Neosporin Lip Health Daily Hydration Therapy but a little more viscous.
Lesson learned for this month is to not judge a product solely by its packaging! I’m ready for next month’s bag now. 🙂
I know that I’m late in posting about this, but I do think that this is what generated the most buzz for me in 2014 from an affordable drugstore brand. For higher end makeup, it’s the Benefit they’re real! push-up liner. I can’t stop hearing about it all over blogs, Twitter and on Instagram. I don’t have that so I can’t really say much about it, but I do have the drugstore counterpart of it in terms of visibility. Here’s Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow.
I find these eyeshadows very strange to apply at first. It doesn’t feel like other eyeshadows I’ve used in terms of texture. It’s extremely smooth and lasts a good amount of time. The best color payoffs are with the bolder shades (and among the bolder shades, the metallics are the best in my opinion). I wouldn’t count on their claim of the color payoff with a single stroke to be 100% true for every single one of them, but I can say that some darker shades definitely lived up to that. Using them wet intensifies the color. I’m a fan of the jewel toned shades. These are priced decently to where you can grab a couple at a time and even more when they go on sale. You just have to watch for drugstore deals on the brand. Swatches shown below are without any base or primer and are in ascending numeric order of the shades available. They are numbered from 01 to 30 and the names can be found on the press release post I made here.
My top 3 are Bella Emerald (18), Bella Rouge (19) and Bella Copper (23).
These retail for $4.49 each and are available in retail stores where Milani is sold. Otherwise, try nabbing it online on their website.

Hey guys! It’s almost the weekend again and I’m very much looking forward to it! I’ve done some major damage in terms of shopping the past few days, but how can I resist with all these F&F and 20% off everything sales? I placed an order already with Sephora and ULTA (and that’s on top of my recent ULTA run to take advantage of the BOGO Freeman masks in-store). I also got the second Freeman Mystery Bag I ordered and this one came with the “mystery treat for feet” items. It definitely made me wish I ordered some last year cause it was so much better in terms of being a deal, but at least I got in on the deal this year. I’d regret it even more next year if the price goes up again! But anyway, here’s everything that I got from my ipsy October 2014 Glam Bag.
The first item that caught my eye is the ECRU New York Acacia Protein BB Cream Beauty Balm for Hair. BB Cream for hair? The packaging looks so elegant that thoughts about it being a gimmick stopped screaming in my head (it’s still in the back of my head, but I’m trying very hard to be unbiased without trying it out first). I’ll be using this shortly and provide a review on this for sure. The next item is the Starlooks Lip Gloss. The shade everyone got is Guilty Pleasure. It looks to be a pretty shade, but I’ll save this up for my niece that loves lip products. Up next is Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths. To be honest, this is the item I wasn’t too thrilled that I got initially. I never really use products like this, but I’ve heard a few girls rave about it so far after getting this in their ipsy bags that I’m actually looking forward to using this now! And this leads to the item that looks the most unassuming: MicaBeauty Mineral Eye Shadow. The shade I got is in Harlequin, which is a deep teal-ish green shimmer it seems. I have too much eye makeup that I’m saving this one for my niece that loves turquoise and similar shades. The first item I ended up trying is the Figs & Rouge Hand Cream. The scent I got is Mango Mandarin but it doesn’t smell anything like it in my opinion. I can smell a hint of shea butter in it. I ended up using it first as my dog seems to like this item the most out of this month’s bag. He tried to eat it!
If you read my review on last month’s bag here, you know that I am so in love with the bag itself that I wasn’t sure how they can top it with the next one. They kinda almost did actually! I LOVE everything about this month’s bag. I love the color and the material of it. It’s simply perfect. Keep up the great job ipsy!
I always end up not getting anything from ULTA’s 21 Days of Beauty Steals, which started yesterday. Not this time though! I got into Laura Geller makeup recently (because they’re soooo pretty and no….I haven’t used any of it except one item out of 20+ or so) and couldn’t pass up on this deal for $15:
I’m very excited on that lip shade and the eye shadow/liner. If you go to their link for these beauty steals, you can see what’s coming up and which deals are available both in-stores and online and which ones are online only (like the one I just caved to). I hate paying for shipping (wish they have a free shipping with $25 purchase right now) so I got 2 of these and added another item to my cart to bump my total purchase price up (I’ve been eyeing it anyway). You also get a free full-size Laura Geller I-Care Eyeliner with a $30 purchase from the brand (which I did get since I bought 2 of these). The only other beauty steals that caught my eye are the Stila and Cargo palettes, but the Holiday palettes are all coming out so I’ll most likely pass on them. If I do remember on the day the deal goes live, I’ll probably grab an Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel (finally!). I don’t really do anything for my brows and this may change everything I’ve thought about brow care (which is basically non-existent in my life).
Anything catching you eye from ULTA’s 21 Days of Beauty Steals?
Hey guys! I got my goodies from ipsy for this month over the weekend and I’m loving the cute theme. The bag does seem to fit it somewhat too and it’s not flat this time around (a completely flat makeup bag doesn’t sit well with me…like last month’s — don’t get me wrong, they have made others that are flat but they’re not completely flat at all…more like envelope style). Here’s everything that I got from my ipsy August 2014 Glam Bag.
First, about the bag…..as I mentioned above it kind of fits the back-to-school theme. I love that it actually has enough space to hold a decent amount of makeup and maybe even use it as a pencil case instead. The bag did get a little squished up in the metallic pink envelope during shipping but fill it out and it’s good to go. The material makes it good to prevent from spills compared to a cloth makeup bag. Beads of water will just run off on it. The first item that caught my eye is the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. It caught my eye for 2 main reasons: 1) it didn’t fit in the makeup bag so it was the only product not enclosed in it and 2) it’s something I want to try but not willing to shell out the money since I have a million mascaras already laying around and about half are open. I hemmed and hawed on whether to open it or not to try it out and decided to wait as I go through a few more of the currently open tubes I have. First item I grabbed when I opened the makeup bag is the Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I’ve found the hair products I’ve been receiving from my monthly ipsy Glam Bags more appealing lately. I really don’t do much to my hair but I keep thinking I should one of these days, so I guess hair products pique my interest a lot. Next item I plucked out of the bag is the J.Cat Beauty Flying Solo Eye Shadow. The shade I got is called Half Naked and I’ll be passing this along as I’ve been an impulsive shopper lately and have gotten eye shadows in my last beauty purchase (HauteLook takes a while to ship so I’m still waiting). Next item is something I should be more excited about than I was since I have huge pores. I don’t wear makeup to cover pores at all. I usually just have moisturizer on and go. If I wear makeup at all, it’s makeup on top of my moisturized face. Foundation isn’t my thing at all and if I choose to wear any at all, it’s in powder form. But I do have large pores so I will definitely be trying this Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner. Stay tuned for a post on that soon. Last item I got is the Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner. The scent and flavor is citrusy from what I gather. Reading reviews on this, it’s seems to be just as good as any other lip balm and I have about 10 of those currently laying around so I’ll be passing this on. Maybe to my father-in-law since he seems to love lip balms and loses them occasionally.
Overall, not bad still. I’m very glad that the makeup bag isn’t flat this time around (I still have that one, just trying to figure out what to use it for since it’s very flat). I can’t wait to see what next month’s bag brings!
If you’ve ever wanted to try some items from Laura Geller, now is a good time if you have a HauteLook account and even better if you have enough things you want from this brand or another (hello, Stila!) to reach $100 for free shipping. I caved and placed an order 2 days ago. While I do wish there were more sets (more value and a nice mix), there was enough for me to hit the checkout. Here’s a few items that ended up in my cart:
I mentioned I love Laura Geller sets and that was one of the few that appealed to me. I love her baked stuff a lot, especially the marble ones so this ended up in my cart as well:
I’ve been wanting this eyeshadow duo for about a month now. I love Rome/Milan that I got with my Beauty Brands order and looked up online to see what other shades they have and this one was calling my name:
The one that almost made it into my cart but didn’t (because I could only justify adding one eyeshadow duo to my order and chose the one above instead):
And here’s something I would’ve gotten if I didn’t end up getting some stuff already from this set:
My experience with her products has so far been really good. It actually surpassed another brand in terms of what I’m looking for (something that doesn’t make me feel like I have makeup on at all, but not that I’m not looking for full coverage or anything like that really). I didn’t want to chance what I like selling out by waiting for the Stila event (went live a few hours ago) but looks like I’m not missing much at all. This ends tomorrow at 8 AM Pacific so grab whatever you want before that!
Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I have started using again after a few months from Jordana. I didn’t realize that I never posted about these, so here’s my take on Jordana 12 HR Made To Last Eyeshadow Pencil.
These are described as:
- Long-Lasting (up to 12 hour wear)
- Easy to use
- Water-Resistant, Crease-Proof
- Made in Germany
These are very easy to use and is available in 8 shades. Some of them are shimmers and some are just matte. Today, I have 3 as shown in the pictures. It’s a little but chunky in terms of packaging, but not much more when compared to the same product from other brands. If you need more product, just sharpen and go. The formula is very creamy and pigmented. It glides easily onto my eyelids. It doesn’t take much pressure at all to get the color on. The lasting power is very impressive. These 3 shades do live up to their claim of 12 hours. The most recent one I have used is Prolong Purple. I was bold enough to wear this to work last week even though it is one of the shimmer shades. Being that I’m Asian, it doesn’t show up as much since I only used it on my eyelids. I was very concerned how these would fare with my oily eyelids but they stayed put with only minor fading after 8 hours. Shown in shots are the following shades from left to right: Eternal White, Continuous Almond, and Prolong Purple. For each shade, I applied 1 firm stroke followed by 2 firm strokes to show how pigmented and buildable these are.
These retail for $3.99 each. I’d gladly pay that price for the shades I like. I’m looking to get Aqua Last and maybe Endless Emerald to add to my stash. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned before that Jordana is also available at KMart.

Hey guys! I got my goodies from ipsy for this month over the weekend and finally got around to poring over what I got. After last month’s wow factor for me ( that the bag is designed by Rebecca Minkoff), I made sure to have reasonable expectations when it comes to the following month’s bag overall. Here’s everything that I got from my ipsy July 2014 Glam Bag.
First, about the bag…..I like it and don’t at the same time, so I’m on the fence about it still. I love the design and the color definitely. I love how the bag feels, but what I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t feel like it will be a durable bag. Because of the scallop design and how the stitches are put on, it’s not as durable as my other makeup bags. I feel like I would have to baby it for sure and I don’t really want to have to do that. I’ll hold onto it for now though. The first item that caught my eye is the Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08. I don’t go out and tan intentionally, so this item is on the miss side for me in terms of usage. But I suppose I can slather it on while I’m out in the sun like when I’m swimming and stuff. I do tan easily in general and you bet I’ll be wearing sunscreen under this. It kind of negates what this is supposed to do though, so I’m on the fence with this product at the moment. The SPF is so low on this that I’m afraid the skin will just burn as if there is no SPF (I mean, I know there is some….it’s just so minimal). Moving on, we have Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil. While I have a lot of eye liners right now, “kajal” or “kohl” always catches my attention. My most pigmented eye pencils bear that in the name or description. Definitely a keeper for me and this is a small pencil so it fits right into any purse or makeup bag easily. Next item is the Pür Minerals Big Look Waterproof Mascara. First impression is the packaging is so freaking cute! It has this water beads design on the silver cap that reminds me of what you see in MAC Alluring Aquatics Collection. I really liked that packaging look with MAC that I even thought about picking stuff up from that collection partly because of that (but then I moved on to other brands instead and have been very happy with that decision). I’m definitely going to keep this mascara but it will take me a while to get to using it since I have about 10 open right now. OOPS! 🙂 Marrakesh Endz is one that I have never heard of the brand before this month’s bag. According to the product description on their website this product seals and repairs split ends, while preventing future damage. With it being summer right now, I’ve been in the pool a handful of times already and my hair is starting to put up a fight with me. I have long hair and I try to moisturize and condition every few days. This will be good to try out after a good swim session. Last product is the bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I have a love-hate relationship with cream eye shadows, so I’m not sure if I’m keeping this or not — especially since the shade I got is very neutral. It’s called Divine Wine but don’t let that name fool you! I would think a shade with that name is more on the purple or burgundy side. Nope, this line of theirs consists of 10 shades that are all very neutral (think nude palettes). I tend to like my eye shadows to have shimmer or color (or both!) and this one’s neither.
Overall, eh….not too bad. Here’s hoping next month’s is better!
