Ho, ho, ho! How are y’all doing with your holiday shopping? I hope you all find what you’re looking for with ease. I got this in a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting until now. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag.
I actually like the bag for this month eve though I feel overall it’s a little flimsy. It’s perfect for the holiday season and I do love shiny things. First item that caught my eye is the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I am familiar with this brand and I’ve been running low on eye creams so this is a good one for me to try soon. Next we have the Lottie London AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. Some other ipsters got Mocha. Then we have the F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E. I have to retake the quiz again as I keep getting these makeup brushes when I have no use for them since I already have enough. The good news is my niece will benefit from this predicament as she’s really into makeup now, so I tossed this into a makeup bag filled with makeup extra goodies for her. Next up is the Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I don’t use makeup primers much but have been stashing some over the years to test with to compare quality and effectiveness. Then we have The Beauty Crop Lip Brulee. The shade everyone got is called Rhubarb Custard. I thought this has a matte velvet finish but I looked it up and saw that it actually has a shine to it. Still, it looks like more of a lip stain than a lip gloss to me. Last up is the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream. It says it’s good for sensitive skin so I anticipate no problems when trying this out as soon as I run out of my current facial moisturizer.
I liked most of what I got so here’s to hoping the bags in 2019 will keep up this trend!
The last day of March! Spring is here to stay and tomorrow is both Easter Sunday and April Fool’s Day. The temperature here will take a slight dip and everyone’s over it already. They are ready for warm weather to stay. But most will eat their words in a few months, as they do every year, as summer can get very hot here in Tornado Alley. Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy March 2018 Glam Bag.
I didn’t care much for the bag really. I can see that they want to foster creativity with this month’s bag, but I didn’t care for it really. The first item that caught my eye is the Benefit Cosmetics BADGal Bang Mascara. Everything about the packaging is eye-catching to me. The shade it comes in is called Pitch Black. Next is the BRTC Jasmine Waterful Foaming Cleanser. I’ve never heard of this brand before but I looked it up really quick and I think it’s a Korean beauty brand. I’m going to give this a whirl soon! Then we have the Tarte Sex Kitten Eyeliner. I love the brand Tarte and I am in need of a small eye liner like this that I can easily stash in a wristlet, clutch or even a wallet. Next we have the AHAVA Purifying Mud Mask. I use face masks a few times a month or more and am excited to try this out. Last up is a Finding Ferdinand Lipstick. The shade I got this in is Rose Gold. I’ve never heard of this brand before but the shade is right up my alley to try.
The contents of this bag is much better than many of the ones I got recently. I hope next month’s bag continues this trend!
I know it’s been a while…but hey! I’m back even if it’s just for a few posts here and there. When I started this blog, it has always been something that I put my energy towards to on my free time as I like nail polish and beauty products. Free time has been harder to come by since the year started. Don’t get me wrong, I do have free time but I choose to spend it doing other things than blogging. If I had more free time then I would’ve eventually put in more posts than I currently do, but this will have to do for now. Thanks for sticking with me still! Anyway, in playing catch up with some posts here, here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2018 Glam Bag.
I like the bag more than I thought I would. In fact, it’s my favorite one for this year so far (since I’ve gotten my February and March one as well). First item that caught my eye is the Befine Exfoliating Cleanser. I’ve actually used this item before I believe. I’m currently using it in my facial cleanser rotation. Next item that caught my eye is the Vasanti Kajal Waterline Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is called Intense Black. I’ve heard that this product is awesome so I’m definitely keeping it to try it out. Then we have theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer. I’ve been collecting these theBalm minis cause I thought they were so cute! Next we have the Bellápierre Cosmetics StayPut Brow Gel in Licorice. I thought this was a liquid eyeliner or something like that. Not sure if I will keep it as I don’t really do anything with my brows. Last up is the NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner. I’m actually excited to try this out. The packaging makes me think of unicorns!
Not bad at all and a colorful start to the New Year I say!
5 more days ’til Christmas! I’ve been off since last week and have finished all holiday related shopping so I’m just spending my time catching up on my recorded shows on the Investigation Discovery channel and have just started watching some Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. I was out-of-town for 2 nights at a cabin in Clayton Lake State Park (OK) and it was a beautiful stay. The cabin is right by the lake so it was convenient to go fishing there at night. The cabin we stayed at was far from the other cabins so we didn’t really see anyone else there really. Our dog loved every minute of it. He even took a few dips in the cold lake! Now I’m already starting to research which state park we should go to next! I returned to a few things piling up in the mailbox and this is one of them. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2017 Glam Bag.
I would’ve liked the bag more if it was more symmetrical. I don’t know if you can tell but the “height” of the bag on one side is different from the other side. I don’t know if it’s intentional but oh well…it’s still usable. First item that caught my eye is the Smashbox Cosmetics Be Legendary Lipstick. The shade everyone got is called Legendary. It’s a bold red shade that I simply love. Next item that caught my eye is the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. I’ve actually tried out this product before and have reviewed it here. Then we have the Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL. The only Rodial product I’ve had the pleasure of trying out left me impressed so I’m looking forward to trying this out. I did not know they have a makeup line! Next we have the NIP+FAB Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Serum. I love facial serums so I’m eager to try this one out ASAP! It’s starting to get cold and dry again this weekend where I’m at so this is simply perfect timing to have received this in my glam bag. Last up is NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner. The shade I got this in is Onyx.
So I was expecting a little bit more wow with the bag itself for Christmas but it’s better than last year’s bag in my opinion — so it’s all good! I think I’ll get to keep most of the items in my glam bag to try for myself, which is pretty rare really so I’m looking forward to it!
Better late than never! Here’s my take on the ipsy August 2017 Glam Bag.
While the bag is cute, I am more interested in the makeup items I got. First item that caught my eye is the Formula 10.0.6 Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask. They can attribute that to the bright eye-catching packaging color. I use face masks at least twice a week now so there will be a post on this in 2 months or so. Next is SUGAR Cosmetics Stroke Of Genius Heavy Duty Kohl. The shade I got is 01 Back to Black. I think this is the only shade this particular product item comes in for now though. Then we have the Hey Honey Come Clean: Propolis & Minerals Facial Scrub. I’ve been using this about thrice a week and will be posting about it in the next few days. Next we have the MAKE UP FOR EVER EXCESSIVE LASH Arresting Volume Mascara. I have used products from this brand with fairly good results so I’m keeping this one to try out later. Last up is theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is Kuwakaribisha. It’s a nice, light shimmery shade that is quite versatile as it can also be used as a highlighter.
Overall, very nice. My next bag should be coming soon and I can’t wait to see what I get!
Hey guys! I’m so excited about this month’s bag! I get this excited when the bag itself is something I’m in love with. Here’s my take on the ipsy July 2017 Glam Bag.
Eeeeeeeeeeeee! It’s so freaking cute!!! I’ve always liked Sanrio stuff and some characters more than others. I would be lying if I said I didn’t know who this little guy is. I’ve seen him become quite popular in the last year or so. Now onto the products! First up is 111SKIN Space Defence Bright Eye Gel. Quite a unique product name and I’m curious to see how it performs. Stay tuned in a few months to see what my thoughts are on this. Next up is Trifle Cosmetics Raspberry Ripple Ombré Radiance Blush Palette. The shades look promising and I’m actually tempted to use this but I think I will pass this on to one of my nieces. The theme and packaging are really cute and nice. Then we have the Ciaté Wonderwand Gel-Kohl Hybrid Liner. The shade I got this in is black. This seems to be in the formula that I like most for eyeliners where it’s a pencil but with some moisture to it that you can make sharp lines. Next we have the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. This is good to use for waterproof makeup so I’m quite eager to put it to the test. Last up is Beau Gâchis Illuminator Brush. I made sure I did the review on ipsy for this month as I mentioned before when I retook the quiz that I don’t want any more makeup brushes. The only ones I use (if at all) are big fluffly ones like my IT Cosmetic ones.
Bag aside, I do like most of what I got this month. I already gave myself the expectation that next month’s bag will be nothing compared to this one due to my excitement over Gudetama! Haha!
Hey y’all! How as this month for you guys? It just flew right on by for me. I know I didn’t get to post much but better late than never! Here’s my take on the ipsy May 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag is very cute and useful for summer! It’s the perfect size to toss in summer essentials like sunscreen, hair ties and lip balm. First item that caught my eye is the Briogeo Rosarco Milk™ Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. I’m really into leave-in conditioners during the summer season especially if I’m swimming a lot. Next up is the IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara. I have a lot of mascaras open right now but I’ll save it for later. The shade I got this in is Black. Then we have Urban Decay Afterglow. The shade I got this in is Sin. While I like this brand, I don’t really have a need for highlighter but I know one of my nieces uses it so I’ll pass this on to her. Next we have the Starlooks Artist Edition – Luxe Longwear Star Stamp + Liner Pen. I wish that they just gave more product instead of putting the cost towards the star stamp end. I don’t really see a use for it except for Halloween or a night out maybe. It’s not something I’d sport everyday (unless I’m Rainbow Brite!). Last up is Caked Makeup Lip Fondant. The shade I got this in is Low Key.
Overall, I think taking the quiz again helped. I liked this month’s offerings better than last month (which I didn’t even bother to blog about). I hope they keep it up for next month!
What a month it’s been! Time sure flies by fast. It felt like the holidays were just here. I got this in earlier but I wasn’t too excited about it so I took my time in posting about it. Here’s my take on the ipsy February 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag is made of denim — not really my cup of tea but seems to be built pretty good even though it’s thin. First item that caught my eye is the NYX Butter Lipstick. The shade I got this in is called Ripe Berry. I LOVE this shade and have high hopes that it translates the same onto my lips. Next up is the True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask. I will be trying this out shortly so stay tuned for a blog post on my thoughts on it. The directions on how to use this seems pretty straightforward: “Massage on dry skin (yep, dry), leave on for two to five minutes, then just wipe off with a damp washcloth (no need to rinse). We like using it twice a week before bedtime.” Then we have Lord & Berry Eye Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. This is a nice small-sized eye pencil that I can take with me even when I’m only carrying the bare minimum. I can’t wait to try this out! Next we have MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is called You’re Toast. It looks to be a pretty gold shade. Last up is The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream. This item made me think about it a lot. The skin around the eye and the lips are quite different so I’m having a hard time seeing how a product can effectively affect both areas BUT I’ll try it out and share my thoughts on it here later on.
Overall, eh….I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I was expecting more out of the makeup bag itself as February is Valentine’s Day but I think they just didn’t go with the Valentine’s theme this time around. That’s cool….I can’t wait to see next month’s bag now! I actually see it on the website right now and it looks so cute and chic!
I got this in a few days ago. I’m keeping almost everything I got in this bag. A lot of times I would keep only one or 2 items and have the others as stocking stuffers or extras in a gift, but this time I’m keeping and using 4 of them! Here’s what I got with my ipsy October 2016 Glam Bag.
The bag is quite cute and the material strikes me as being waterproof or water-repellent at least. First up is the Elizabeth Grant Green Power C Hydrating Cleanser. The green colored tube stuck out like a sore thumb to me in the group. I’m dying to try out a new cleanser as I’ve been using the same one for about 2 months now and I don’t think I really like it. Next item that caught my eye is the MeMeMe Blush Brush. It has a nice handle and is fluffy but this is the one item I definitely won’t be using so off to the gifting pile it goes. Then we have the noyah Lipstick. The shade I got is in Smoke. I would’ve preferred the other shade available, Currant News, as that one is more “red” than Smoke (which is more “nude”). But I’m still keeping it as my hubby generally likes these kind of shades on me. Next we have Ciate Fierce Flicks Eyeliner. I’m keeping this as I don’t have that many eye liners with the felt tip. Last up is theBalm Cabana BoyBlush. I love, LOVE, L-O-V-E this shade! Definitely my favorite item from this month’s bag!
I can’t wait now for next month’s bag!
I got this in a few days ago. While I knew I’d like the bag, I didn’t know that I’d like it this much! It’s quite beautiful really and I appreciate it even though it’s not my typical style. Here’s what I got with my ipsy August 2016 Glam Bag.
The bag is much, much prettier in person. The first item that caught my eye is the Global Beauty Care Dead Sea Wash Off Mask. I love face masks especially mud type ones. I haven’t been using any lately though as I introduced the use of the PMD in my skin care regimen so I pretty much kept my facial routine very simple while my skin gets adjusted to it. Next item that caught my eye is the Pacifica Sundreams Lotus Infused Bronzer. The shade I got this in is called Sunkissed. The packaging is so cute but I have too many bronzers open already and I don’t even use them so I’ll be tucking this into my extra gifting pile. Then we have Ciaté Paint Pot. The shade I got is in Dangerous Affair. It’s not really my type of shade so I’ll be throwing this in as an extra gift as well. Next we have OFRA x @DupeThat “You Glow Girl” Highlighter. Another item that I don’t really use as is so to the same pile it goes. Last up is the Beauty For Real I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner. The shade I got is called Black Magic.
The bag wowed me more than the contents but that’s alright. I hope next month’s bag is better!
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.
This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.
I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.
Hey guys! It’s another beautiful day today here in Oklahoma! This arrived in my mailbox a few days ago but I was so caught up with my latest Etsy order (which I’ll blog about soon!) that I didn’t get around to taking pictures until today. Here’s what I got in my ipsy March 2016 Glam Bag.
I knew that the bags this month was going to come in 3 different color schemes. I was hoping for the blue one but I ended up loving the mint green one that I got. It is so, so cute! I am in love with it more than I thought I would be! And for those that remember what happened to my bag from last month — ipsy saved the day and sent me a new one that did NOT have the damage. YAY to ipsy! Anyway, first item that caught my eye is the NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Pencil. The shade I got this in is called Mystic. I have heard a lot about this brand fairly recently and am glad to have the chance to try it out! Next up is the Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco 3 Day Smooth Perfect Blow Dry Cream. I loved what I got from this brand a few months ago, which I reviewed here, that I can’t wait to try this out! Then we have the OFRA Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got is called Green Go. I might gift this one as I have too many of this type of item out already that I barely even use. The unassuming packaging of NoTS 28 Remedy Balancing Toner made it almost go unnoticed for me. I’ve actually been a fan of Korean brand skincare for a while now that this is probably the most exciting item out of everything I got in my bag this month. It just didn’t catch my eye due to the very simple, plain packaging. Last up is the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick. The shade I got this in is called Kitten Heels. It’s a very pretty matte red that applies on oh so softly! I am VERY impressed with this one so far.
Overall, a great bag! I can’t wait to get next month’s bag now!
Hey guys! I’ll try to keep this short as I’m looking at a super busy weekend. Here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag.
I think the bag is very cute! The print makes me think of all things retro and Austin Powers. First item that caught my eye is the Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body Cream. I have received a hand cream of the same brand in a previous glam bag and remembered liking it. I’ll keep this to try out as soon as my current body lotion runs out. Next up is Beau Gâchis Paris Smudge Brush. I don’t wear makeup a lot and already have a lot of makeup brushes so I’ll keep this in my stocking stuffer stash. Then we have theBalm Mr. Write (Now). This eye liner has a catchy name and a built-in sharpener. The shade I got is in Jack B. Bronze, which is a rich bronze. I can’t wait to try this out as I’m curious to how their eye liners are. Next is the pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum. I’m about to switch my eye cream and this seems to be a good one to try out. Last item is the Hikari Cream Metallic Pigment Shadow. The shade I got is called Mink. Eye shadow is one kind of product I have too much of already so I’ll save this for someone else.
Overall, pretty good! I’m looking forward to next month’s bag already.
Hey guys! This week was super hectic. I even worked some today and it’s a Saturday! Hopefully it’ll be over soon. It just makes me look forward to my upcoming staycation even more. I was sent this recently. It was a total surprise really! I just got the package one day — so thank you Borghese! There will be detailed reviews on each product as time goes on but for now, here’s what you get with the Borghese 9-piece Skincare + Color Collection Set.
This set is currently available still on their website and is on sale! The sale price is actually a very good deal that I would’ve taken advantage of if the set I have wasn’t sent to me. The item I am most excited about in this set is surprisingly the palette. The only makeup item I’ve used from Borghese is their nail polish and I love their formula and colors. But other than that, I know the brand more for their skin care products. The lipcolor is in the shade Grappa while the lip glosses are in shades Spark and Simmer. The eye liner is in the shade Pitch Black. Enough yappin’ here and let’s get to the goods.
Direct link to this set is located here. Honestly, I would’ve asked for this for Christmas or treated myself to it if I wasn’t sent this set.

Feeling the need to revisit my current makeup stash and put something I’ve had for a while to use, I picked out the Jordana Fabuliner Bold Felt-Tip Liquid Eyeliner.
This described as:
- Bold Felt-Tip Point
- Creates a Variety of Dramatic Winged Looks in One Stroke Application
- Long-Lasting, All Day Wear
- Made In Germany
This has a very fine point at the end, which makes applying a product to my water line a breeze. It’s accurate and the stiff point almost guarantees me in getting the application I want. The formula isn’t as opaque as I thought but that’s easily fixed by just applying another layer over the first one. The color is dark though and it surprisingly fared really well with my eyelids as mine gets oily as the day goes on. If I make a mistake, it’s easily corrected as long as I do it fast. That’s also part of what surprised me in how long-lasting it is as I was worried that it will be easily smudged off as the day goes on. I actually thought it was a waterproof product but it isn’t. I don’t know if this is the same experience everyone else that tried it has though. Mine hasn’t dried out yet as this is one of the other things to watch out for since it’s like a marker. While pictures below show feathering when swatched on my arm, it doesn’t feather on my eye (skin is different there) so it doesn’t look like that at all. This is just to show how pigmented it looks with one quick swipe and when applied slower (so it’s slightly thicker in width).
This retails for $2.99 each. It’s a really decent price for what you get with this type of product. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens or KMart.

Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I have started using again after a good while from Milani. Here’s Milani Liquid Eye Liquid-Like Eye Liner Pencil.
These are described on their website with the following:
“We call this gel-based pencil “liquid-like” for good reason: It has all the impact of liquid, but it’s so much easier to use. Available in matte and shimmer finishes, it glides on and doesn’t smudge. And because this one is “propel” and never needs sharpening, it’s quick, quick, quick. You and your beautifully defined eyes are out the door in a flash.”
These are very easy to use and is available in 5 shades. I have blogged about these a few years ago when it came in a different name, Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil. These feel a little bit drier compared to those and surprisingly I love the Jordana 12 HR Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil version even more. It does last a long time with minimal wear and it’s very easy to apply. The formula from Milani and Jordana for these make them my holy grail eyeliners to date. They’re so pigment, so smooth to apply just like gel and they don’t budge. The ones shown here are the retractable version. I personally prefer the sharpenable version and part of the reason is I think they’re more moist/less dry but that’s a matter of opinion really and the difference I see in what I have (I have both versions) is minimal. Shown in shots below are one stroke of black followed by one stroke of brown.
These retail for $7.99 each. I’d gladly pay that price for these. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens or KMart.

Hey guys! Happy Friday! Today’s post is on a beauty bag subscription that I’ve recently been offered to try out for a month. The company is Beauteque and they run a monthly subscription service over at Beautequemonthly.com with several options to select from. Each month’s beauty bag contents will include 7 to 8 full-sized products. These vary from makeup to skincare to fashion and lifestyle products. You have a hand in what options to select for some products such as scent of something with fragrance or color of some of the items. There is a survey format email sent on the 15th of each month with regards to what options are offered for those items. If no selection is made, Beauteque will make the selection for you. The bags are shipped out starting the 15th of each month and there are 4 options in their price packages:
Month to Month = $24/month
3 months = $24/month
6 months = $23/month
12 months = $22/month
The first 2 are basically the same except the first one has no commitment to a future subscription. You get billed on the 15th of each month when doing the month to month option while all others are prepaid. If you subscribe after the 5th then your first shipment is for the next month. Now let’s move on to what May’s bag for me contains, shall we?
The insert that came with the bag contains a price breakdown and description of each item. Let’s start with the May Island Donkey Milk Skin Masks.
I got 2 in this bag: a mela-tox and a wrinkle filler one. I thought this was a very interesting product and I look forward to trying it out. The insert states: “Double your skin benefits with this three-step mask pack. To Use: Take the cleanser and rub into face, then wash off. Then apply ampoule onto entire face. On the last step, take the sheet mask and spread onto the face for 15-20 minutes. Then remove it from your face.” Instructions are pretty clear and it’s like other Korean sheet masks I’ve tried before.
Next item is one that stumped me a bit just by looking at the product packaging. It’s the Nature Republic By Flower Vivid Tint Bar.
I wasn’t sure what it was and actually thought it’s something like a cheek tint or something because of the name. I read the insert and realized it’s a lip balm! The insert states: “This multitasker offers SPF15, jojoba oil, and beautiful color. This protects delicate lips from the harmful sun and moisturize them all at once. To Use: When lips are chapped or dry, use lip balm to moisturize lips.” This is the other item I had to make a selection for in terms of scent and flavor since the one I got is in Melon.
Then we have It’s Skin Mini Bebe Mist.
The scent I got is in Sweet Peach. I remember having to select a scent and made a peach selection so this has to be one of the 2 products I had to select from a few given options. The insert states: “You can use this spritz on your body, as well as when you close your eyes to refresh your face. To Use: When your skin feels dry, spray onto face, and tap for absorption.” Interesting, eh?
The one that caught my eye the most is Mikatvonk Auto Eyeliner Pencil.
I was hoping the packaging color is the shade of the actual product because it’s such a pretty jewel toned shade. But no luck — it’s plain black. I’m actually wearing it right now on my lower lash line….just putting it to the test. The insert describes it as the following: “Define eyes with this liner from Mikatvonk, a hot line from a leading Australian makeup artist! To Use: Apply from inner to outer corner of eyes and of either of both top and bottom lashline.”
Then we have The Face Shop Eyelash Curler.
This has the following description in the insert: “A lash curler is the secret to multiplying lashes and adding explosive volume. To Use: Open the curler and clamp at the root of lashes, release after 20-30 seconds.” I’ve actually tried this one this morning. I didn’t like it as much as the current one from Revlon I’m using, which I found surprising because I actually thought an eyelash curler from an Asian brand would work better for me (I’m Asian). The shape is different from my Revlon one definitely….flatter.
Next is the Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Steam Starter.
This product actually made my husband laugh. He asked me what in the world it is. The packaging is very cutesy and the insert states the following: “This gel helps to open your pores while eliminating buildup within them. Its pink clay ingredients helps absorb excess sebum and soften stubborn blackheads. To Use: After cleansing, apply to the area with blackheads and massage for 3 minutes. Then use lukewarm water to rinse off.”
Last item is the Nature Republic Bulgarian Rose Essence.
This item is one of those I’m glad for the insert. It gives me an idea on what to use it for since I’ve never used a product like it. The insert states: “Vitamins A and C enliven skin, and rose moisturizes. To Use: Apply after cleansing and toning by rubbing into skin for a result you will start to see and feel immediately.”
Breakdown of the products according to the insert:
May Island Donkey Milk Skin Masks ($3.20 each) .. $ 6.40
Nature Republic By Flower Vivid Tint Bar …………. … 8
It’s Skin Mini Bebe Mist …………………………………. 11
Mikatvonk Auto Eyeliner Pencil ……………………….. 15
The Face Shop Eyelash Curler ………………………….. 7.60
Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Starter …… 10
Nature Republic Bulgarian Rose Essence ……………. 17
Total ……………………………………………………….. $75
Based on the breakdown, you’re getting a great value with this subscription service. The only thing is, as will most beauty subscriptions, not all items will be what you want or you’d actually get for yourself. For instance, while the eye liner pencil seems fairly nice….it doesn’t seem to be waterproof and $15 is more than I’m willing to pay for a brand I don’t know much about. Or the lip balm — while it’s nice and I appreciate it’s not a local brand, $8 is hefty (more than twice for a good brand) compared to what we can get here. Now, that may be the actual going price for this — I’m not saying it’s not. It’s just not a price I’d pay for a tinted lip balm on a regular basis. Also, I don’t use certain things so the prices may feel a little higher than I thought it should be. But if all prices are close to or just about what it really is then yes…it’s a great deal for $24. I actually look at everything I got and think that $24 isn’t that bad being that most, if not all, of these aren’t readily available to me here. I’m willing to pay a little bit more right off the bat for brands that aren’t available here like most of these featured in this month’s bag.

Hey guys! This month’s been crazy so far and that’s why my posts have been sporadic. But today’s post is on the latest I have from ipsy. I think I got this in on Friday — the day we got caught in a bad hailstorm. The car is sad with tons of hail damage but my husband and I came out okay. We were bracing for the windows to break but it didn’t (that’s how bad it was). Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag.
I liked the print on this month’s bag. I thought it was cute! I’ve been using a few of my ipsy bags lately and I can see this in my regular rotation. The first thing that caught my eye is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Ozone, which looks like it will apply on clear to me. I can’t wait to test this out and see how it stacks against others I have. Next item I see is the CoTZ FACE. Formulation I got is in Natural SPF 40. It’s summer time and I usually up the SPF on what I use on my face. This will be tested thoroughly in the next few weeks so watch out for a post on it! Then we have BelláPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil. I think I’ll be passing on this one to someone else although I am intrigued as it’s a gel liner. I love the look and effect gel liners give but there’s usually a problem with them in my experience (either they dry out or just aren’t that great overall after a few uses, with the drying out part contributing to that of course). I will be passing on the Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 as well as I have too many makeup brushes already and I usually use 0 on a weekly basis. Last item is the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion. I am very interested in trying this out as I want to see just how effective it really is.
Overall, this turned out better than last month and I’m excited now about the next one!
Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I have started using again after a few months from Jordana. I remembered how awesome they were and got all excited about these all over again. Here’s Jordana 12 HR Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil.
These are described as:
- Long-Lasting (up to 12 hour wear)
- Easy to use
- Water & Transfer Resistant
- Made in USA
These are very easy to use and is available in 6 shades. Today, I have 3 as shown in the pictures. The colors are very pigmented and they’re so easy to use. I love, love, love the formula of these liners. The formula is very similar to the Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil, but even better in my opinion. Milani did rename the product and I haven’t tried their latest version of this recently to tell if it has improved since I wrote that older post. I was very concerned how these would fare with my oily eyelids because of how pigmented and vibrant they are. I rest my worries as they stayed put with only minor fading after 8 hours. I’m seriously impressed with this that these are now undoubtedly my go-to eye liners. Shown in shots are the following shades from left to right: Black Point, Aqua Stone, and Jade Jewel. For each shade, I applied 1 firm stroke to show how pigmented they are. The shot with flash shows this the best I think.
These retail for $2.99 each. I’d gladly pay that price for these. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens or KMart.
I got this as part of a set from one of my ULTA orders last year I believe. I have so, so many eye liners already that I thought about gifting this. But since it’s in black and I’m open to trying out one that’s not in true pencil form, I gave this a shot. Here’s my take on the Laura Geller I-Care Waterproof Eyeliner.
This item is described as the following on their website:
“Soft, smooth, and super long-wearing, this water-resistant formula virtually floats into place. Whether you opt for a fine line, or a lush, smoky eye look, you’ll have expertly lined lids that last! This unique liner is called I-Care because its treatment-like formula contains beneficial and nourishing ingredients perfect for the delicate eye area. Mineral oil-and preservative-free, I-Care is ophthalmologist-tested and specifically formulated for use around the eyes, even for those who wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes. The highly smudge-proof formula helps to perfectly line the inner eyelid. A soft, flexible smudger is attached to the opposite end. Pull the smudger off, and you’ll find a handy little sharpener tucked inside. Unlike most eye pencils, I-Care Eyeliner has a retractable point.”
I’ll be honest that I didn’t really have high expectations with this before trying it. It brings me back to my thoughts on Urban Decay eye liners. They’re good, but I actually prefer Milani’s formula better (you can read about it in my original post here). It just works well for me with my water line. I need an eye liner that is pigmented that goes on softly but bold. Meaning I don’t have to apply a lot of pressure to get great color payoff. Urban Decay is just okay in my book for that. Milani is excellent. And Laura Geller? Well, I was pleasantly surprised with it! I didn’t have to apply a lot of pressure at all to get really dark black pigment right on my water line. The formula is like a smooth and creamy. I checked after 5 hours and did notice some wear, but not much at all. There is no flaking or smudging — it stayed put. It’s currently my go-to eye liner in my purse. It’s comparable to the formula of Milani’s eye liner in my opinion but maybe a tad creamier. Milani did repackage and might’ve reformulated it, so my opinion is in comparison to their older eye liners from the Liquif’Eye line. Swatches shown below are a thinner line followed by a thicker one with more pressure used to apply it.
This item retails for $20 and is available on their website here as well as wherever they’re retailed at such as ULTA.
Hey guys! It’s that time of the month again thanks to ipsy! I got this month’s bag a few days ago and it didn’t wow me intially, but I did like it better than last month’s bag shown here. Here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2015 Glam Bag.
I like the color and print of the bag this month. The material isn’t close to giving any protection from water and the likes though like some of their past bags. But that’s okay. It suited the theme of Valentine’s for this month. The first item that caught my eye was the Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray. I’ve been trying to refocus on taking better care of my hair for almost 2 months now. I had my husband chop a good amount off to get rid of the dead ends and unhealthy bits. In my current rotation to use after I wash my hair are Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner and Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive. I can’t wait to try this out since I’ve had a good experience with this brand so far in the past (see Curtain Call: Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask). Next item that caught my eye is the CARGO Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss. The shade I got is called Anguilla. I’ve seen a lot of beauty bloggers talk about Cargo Cosmetics, but it’s not a brand that I’ve went out of my way to search for and stuff. I did get a deluxe sample of their blush from an ULTA bag freebie last year but I haven’t gotten around to try it. It looks to be a pretty pink color. I think I’ll keep it sealed to add to someone’s goody bag as an extra in a gift or for a giveaway. I have too many lip glosses open as it is right now. The most intriguing item to me is the “Pencil Me In” Cosmetics Natural Eye Liner Pencil. It’s because this product comes with a built in sharpener on the cap. It looked differently than usual eye pencils, so it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I have too many eye liner items out already, so this will go into the same pile as the lip gloss. Next item up is ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder. The shade I got is in Peach Bellini. It looks to be a very wearable pretty coral shade. I’ll hold off on opening it for a while though. I have to check my stash to make sure I don’t already have something very similar to it. The lighting of the picture below is just horrible, so you can’t see the real color of the blush. The group shot above is more color accurate for that. Last item is the one that didn’t quite fit into the bag. It’s the Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504. I’ve never heard of this brand and if I didn’t have the makeup brushes I do right now — I’d actually use it. The handle is light pink in color and the brush bristles is very light and fluffy.
This month is not bad really. I’m excited now about next month’s bag! 🙂
Hey guys! It’s been a while! I do apologize but life gets in the way and it always comes before the blog. Aside from general life stuff, I have been going candle crazy lately at Bath & Body Works’ semi-annual sale that ended recently. I LOVE candles, but have refrained from really getting into them until I saw stuff about their Sweet Shop line released last year. I was bummed that I missed out on them but I found out that some stores still had some of those scents! It’s basically me playing catch up with a year’s worth of released candle scents that I like. I even got my co-worker sis Renu to pick some up for me when she was in Dallas. Some are White Barn (candle brand and sister company of BBW) exclusives and that’s the closest one to us. Her brother is in the Dallas area so she picked some up for me when she happened to stop by. I didn’t realize she was a huge fan of candles too until recently. I remember her stating she likes candles but I thought it was more like just liking something in general. I’m so happy to have someone around me that appreciates the joy a scented candle brings! I got this in the mail a few days ago and I’ll be honest….I just left it on my kitchen counter for a few days. I did open it but nothing wowed me (versus shipments of scented candles, that is). I got the chance to go through it 2 days ago and wow….I am unexpectedly surprised by the most unexpected item I got. Here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag.
My first thoughts are on the bag….not bad. I like this one much better than a few of their recent ones. I do love the material it is made out of. It will provide some protection from stuff like water droplets on a rainy day. The first item that caught my eye was the Hikari Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Liner. I do have a decent amount of this kind of product on hand from other brands, but there’s something about this that makes me want to try it out. I’m hoping it’s a winner since eye liners can be hit or miss really. I tend to like the ones that have a creamier formula in stick form like from Milani. The shade I got is in Storm, which is described as slate grey. The next item I looked at made me scratch my head for a moment because of the product packaging. I’m cycling though my facial moisturizer soon, so I’ll give this a try I think. My only concern is with the scent of this product. I read some reviews from fellow ipsy subscribers and they mentioned a cucumber type of smell. I don’t tolerate cucumber type scents well in beauty products especially on my face. I don’t know….I may just pass this on for someone else to try. The Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo made me think of the Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer I have. It’s a product that I’d use in a similar manner. I’m not sure if I’ll get to try this as I have several of this type of product open at the moment from various brands. Next item is the Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow. The shade I got is in Treasure. It looks to be a nice shade but I’ll be passing it on to one of my nieces since I have too many of this type of product (yet again) open already. This is the first time I actually thought about canceling my subscription. I keep getting stuff that I already have a ton of! The last item is my favorite from this month’s bag. That actually surprised me because I overlooked it due to its super simple packaging. It’s the gem in my bag this month. I already tried it and I love it! It’s slightly minty and fresh. It goes on clear and reminds me of Neosporin Lip Health Daily Hydration Therapy but a little more viscous.
Lesson learned for this month is to not judge a product solely by its packaging! I’m ready for next month’s bag now. 🙂
Hey guys! It’s getting colder every single day. For my sanity, the tree is up and half of the presents are all wrapped and stuck under the tree. Yes, a reindeer died cause of that but guess what? I won’t have time to put up the tree after Thanksgiving. I just wanted it out of the way. I’m waiting for more stuff to come in to wrap them up when I stumbled upon another problem — I ran out of wrapping paper. Oh! How did this ever happen?! I have hundreds of ribbons and bows but no wrapping paper. I’m guessing I didn’t see it as a high priority item when I shopped from the after Christmas sales last year and I should’ve. Lesson learned. So with that happening, I had time in my hands to take a few pictures of what I got in my ipsy November 2014 Glam Bag.
The first item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott you’re so FINE Eyeliner. The shade I got is Glitterati. The packaging caught my eye and while I’m eager to try this out, I have many products already in this category so I’ll toss this as an add-on to a Christmas gift for one of my nieces. Next item up is the TEMPTU S/B Highlighter. The packaging makes me think of baby milk bottles — it’s so cute! The shade I got is Pink Pearl. I have used highlighters before just to see how it works and I’ll be sure to try this one out. Then we have L.A. Colors Chunky Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Wine. I saw this and immediately thought of my niece that loves lip products, so I’ll be saving this one up for her. The consistency is said to be between a lipstick and a lip gloss, which reminds me of the Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain. I wasn’t too happy when I saw that I got the Demeter Pixie Dust Roll On Perfume Oil. While I loved some of their scents, they usually give me a headache shortly after application. I’ll save this one up for an extra in a gift or something. The last item in my bag is my favorite out of everything I got this month. I got the Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Guys & Galaxies, which is an ipsy exclusive shade. I love this shade! It’s glitter and very pretty. The bag this month is a cute silver glitter zip top made by clothing and accessories brand Forever21 for ipsy. Material is like a plastic coated type where liquids roll of easily — a bonus feature to me.
While this bag has been the most disappointing one in months I’m still a huge fan of ipsy. I mean, I did like some of the products I got and it’s just a matter of what I can use more sometimes. This month’s offering just doesn’t apply to me as much, but with such great bags for months now….I can’t really get mad at ipsy for missing the mark in terms of personalization with this one. I can’t wait now for next month’s bag!
First thoughts on this product? Very cute packaging! Second thought? Hmmm, isn’t this a combination of the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio and the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Trio? Short, quick answer? Just about. With that said, I think the ones that would appreciate this set more are those that own neither of the eye liner trio sets I’ve mentioned. I picked this up at CVS during an ECB event with the Physicians Formula brand if I remember right. Here’s my take on the Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Ooh La La Sexy Eyes Trio.
The front of the box packaging it came in states the following:
“Up to 24 Hour Wear
Kohl Kajal Eyeliner”
The product packaging is simple and does bring the sexy factor to the table. The black and red lace or fishnet look of the case definitely gives it that sexy edge. The reason why I think it’s a cross of the other 2 eye liner trio sets I’ve reviewed in the past is that it features products that are covered by both sets. You get an eye liner pencil here as well as the kohl kajal eye liner. That’s basically what both sets are: an eye liner pencil set and a kohl kajal eye liner set. The only missing link is the felt-tip eyeliner. In my opinion, this set would be best appreciated by someone that is deciding on which type of eye liner to get from Physicians Formula. This will offer 3 different kinds basically — all in the shade black. In terms of performance, the eye liner pencil performed as reviewed here and the kohl kajal eye liner performed as reviewed here. There is no difference in my experience with the product even though they’re housed in different sets. So what’s left to review is the felt tip eye liner. In my experience with this, it gives me more precise lines than the other 2 but that’s about it. I prefer either of the other 2 over the felt tip eye liner. It’s more of a personal preference really. The wear is not as good compared to the other 2 types of eye liner. It is easier to remove as well, which would make sense with my previous statement. Swatches shown below are in the order of kohl kajal eye liner, felt tip eye liner, and eye liner pencil. Shown is one swipe of each product followed immediately by a thicker application of the same product.
This retails for about $12.95 and is available at various mass retail and drugstores as well as online on their website.
