Hey y’all! How as this month for you guys? It just flew right on by for me. I know I didn’t get to post much but better late than never! Here’s my take on the ipsy May 2017 Glam Bag.
The bag is very cute and useful for summer! It’s the perfect size to toss in summer essentials like sunscreen, hair ties and lip balm. First item that caught my eye is the Briogeo Rosarco Milk™ Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray. I’m really into leave-in conditioners during the summer season especially if I’m swimming a lot. Next up is the IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara. I have a lot of mascaras open right now but I’ll save it for later. The shade I got this in is Black. Then we have Urban Decay Afterglow. The shade I got this in is Sin. While I like this brand, I don’t really have a need for highlighter but I know one of my nieces uses it so I’ll pass this on to her. Next we have the Starlooks Artist Edition – Luxe Longwear Star Stamp + Liner Pen. I wish that they just gave more product instead of putting the cost towards the star stamp end. I don’t really see a use for it except for Halloween or a night out maybe. It’s not something I’d sport everyday (unless I’m Rainbow Brite!). Last up is Caked Makeup Lip Fondant. The shade I got this in is Low Key.
Overall, I think taking the quiz again helped. I liked this month’s offerings better than last month (which I didn’t even bother to blog about). I hope they keep it up for next month!
Hey guys! I got my ipsy bag a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting about it until today. I’ve been very busy with work and with snail mailing these days that I had to put some things off. Here’s what I got in my ipsy June 2016 Glam Bag.
This month’s makeup bag is actually in a print that I don’t really care for but I’m drawn to it a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Like….I actually LOVE this print. Go figure. It’s bright, bold and cute that I surprisingly fell in love with it. The first item that caught my eye is the ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Liner. The shade I got this in is called Swerve. It looks to be a black shade. I’m toying with the idea of keeping it but we’ll see. I don’t use makeup that much to begin with and I use it even less now than compared to a year ago. Next item that caught my eye is the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush. While I like these sample size makeup items, I already own too many blushes for my own good so I’m looking to passing this onto someone else that will put it to good use. The nice tube packaging item turned out to be Hey Honey 24Seven: Day & Night Moisturizing Cream. I’m excited about this one as I’m constantly trying to find something better than what I’m currently using for a facial cream/moisturizer. Next up is the Urban Decay Eyeshadow. The shade I got is called Lounge. Lounge is one of the prettiest duochrome eye shadow shades I’ve ever owned. I think this one’s a keeper even when I don’t wear eyeshadow at all. I’ll use it randomly when I feel like it. Last up is the frank body Original Coffee Scrub. I find this product interesting and can’t wait to try it out. I just have concerns with clogging up the shower plumbing. I’ll definitely blog about this one later on.
I love this month’s bag that I can’t wait to see the design for next month! They’ve been churning out good ones lately.
Hey guys! This month’s been crazy so far and that’s why my posts have been sporadic. But today’s post is on the latest I have from ipsy. I think I got this in on Friday — the day we got caught in a bad hailstorm. The car is sad with tons of hail damage but my husband and I came out okay. We were bracing for the windows to break but it didn’t (that’s how bad it was). Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag.
I liked the print on this month’s bag. I thought it was cute! I’ve been using a few of my ipsy bags lately and I can see this in my regular rotation. The first thing that caught my eye is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Ozone, which looks like it will apply on clear to me. I can’t wait to test this out and see how it stacks against others I have. Next item I see is the CoTZ FACE. Formulation I got is in Natural SPF 40. It’s summer time and I usually up the SPF on what I use on my face. This will be tested thoroughly in the next few weeks so watch out for a post on it! Then we have BelláPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil. I think I’ll be passing on this one to someone else although I am intrigued as it’s a gel liner. I love the look and effect gel liners give but there’s usually a problem with them in my experience (either they dry out or just aren’t that great overall after a few uses, with the drying out part contributing to that of course). I will be passing on the Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 as well as I have too many makeup brushes already and I usually use 0 on a weekly basis. Last item is the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion. I am very interested in trying this out as I want to see just how effective it really is.
Overall, this turned out better than last month and I’m excited now about the next one!
Hey guys! I got my goodies from ipsy for this month over the weekend and I’m loving the cute theme. The bag does seem to fit it somewhat too and it’s not flat this time around (a completely flat makeup bag doesn’t sit well with me…like last month’s — don’t get me wrong, they have made others that are flat but they’re not completely flat at all…more like envelope style). Here’s everything that I got from my ipsy August 2014 Glam Bag.
First, about the bag…..as I mentioned above it kind of fits the back-to-school theme. I love that it actually has enough space to hold a decent amount of makeup and maybe even use it as a pencil case instead. The bag did get a little squished up in the metallic pink envelope during shipping but fill it out and it’s good to go. The material makes it good to prevent from spills compared to a cloth makeup bag. Beads of water will just run off on it. The first item that caught my eye is the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara. It caught my eye for 2 main reasons: 1) it didn’t fit in the makeup bag so it was the only product not enclosed in it and 2) it’s something I want to try but not willing to shell out the money since I have a million mascaras already laying around and about half are open. I hemmed and hawed on whether to open it or not to try it out and decided to wait as I go through a few more of the currently open tubes I have. First item I grabbed when I opened the makeup bag is the Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I’ve found the hair products I’ve been receiving from my monthly ipsy Glam Bags more appealing lately. I really don’t do much to my hair but I keep thinking I should one of these days, so I guess hair products pique my interest a lot. Next item I plucked out of the bag is the J.Cat Beauty Flying Solo Eye Shadow. The shade I got is called Half Naked and I’ll be passing this along as I’ve been an impulsive shopper lately and have gotten eye shadows in my last beauty purchase (HauteLook takes a while to ship so I’m still waiting). Next item is something I should be more excited about than I was since I have huge pores. I don’t wear makeup to cover pores at all. I usually just have moisturizer on and go. If I wear makeup at all, it’s makeup on top of my moisturized face. Foundation isn’t my thing at all and if I choose to wear any at all, it’s in powder form. But I do have large pores so I will definitely be trying this Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner. Stay tuned for a post on that soon. Last item I got is the Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner. The scent and flavor is citrusy from what I gather. Reading reviews on this, it’s seems to be just as good as any other lip balm and I have about 10 of those currently laying around so I’ll be passing this on. Maybe to my father-in-law since he seems to love lip balms and loses them occasionally.
Overall, not bad still. I’m very glad that the makeup bag isn’t flat this time around (I still have that one, just trying to figure out what to use it for since it’s very flat). I can’t wait to see what next month’s bag brings!
Hey guys! I got my ipsy April Glam Bag the day before my parents came to town, so I haven’t gotten to it until now. I did like a lot of the things on first glance and end up keeping them. Here’s what I got with my ipsy April 2014 Glam Bag.
I actually liked every single thing I got with this month’s Glam Bag. The only thing I might pass on is the lip balm and maybe the eye shadow. The Elizabeth Mott pop! goes the shadow looks so beautiful. The shade I got is Champagne and it looks like it would work well both as an eye shadow and highlighter. I’m not going to swatch this one until I’m sure that I want to keep this. I might gift it to one of my husband’s nieces (wait, that makes them my nieces as well right?!). I’m definitely keeping the Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet. I own lots of UD 24/7 eye pencils and most of them are actually travel sized ones that I’d get during ULTA’s after Holiday sale. Eye liner is one of the few makeup items I’d first reach for, so I’ll get good use out of this one. The Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm I got is in the shade of Apple Pink. I think it might look okay on me. I know that my husband tends to like more natural looking shades on me as opposed to a bright red or pink. But I do have a ton of lip products already, so I’m not sure if I want to commit to this or not. The dr. brandt® Microdermabrasion is definitely a keeper as I’m into this type of facial care products these days. Another definite keeper is the Demeter Jasmine Perfume Oil Roll On. I LOVE Jasmine. It’s my favorite floral scent. This one has a teeny bit of artificial smell to it, but it’s still jasmine to the core. I thought this month’s makeup bag looks really cool, but I’ll be passing it on to someone else that can give it more love.
Overall, great bag as it did not disappoint! I hope this keeps on with the next bags I’m getting.
Hi y’all! Happy Thursday! If you guys follow me on Instagram here, you’d have seen my Throwback Thursday contribution earlier today. Looks familiar?
It’s Urban Decay’s Face Case! I distinctly remember how I ended up owning several of these more than 10 years ago. I was staying at my aunt’s house in Broomall, PA over the summer and hung out a little bit with my younger cousin Chrissy. She’s pretty good with makeup and those things while I never touched those even when I was going to college at that time. I saw this palette and it wasn’t just a plain eye shadow palette. It’s a palette with a little bit of everything to help you achieve several different looks. Each face case contains 4 eye shadows, 2 lipsticks, 2 lip glosses (called lip gunks), and a blush or body haze. This was the selling factor for me and I immediately got myself one the next time I set foot in a Sephora store. The box on the upper right is actually my first Urban Decay Face Case. That set is called Nymph Glam. I remember skipping the next one that came out I think and then getting one called Rock Star followed by the one showed above on the left called Gypsy Den. I remember them making at least 5 different ones. I think I even remember the price! $34.50 each? LOL!
Let me know if this new type of blog post interests you or not. I’m thinking that I’ll do some Throwback Thursday posts on at least one Thursday of each month.
Today’s post is about one of my favorite makeup items that is not nail polish. 🙂 Aside from nail polish, I have a deep love for eye liner, mascara and certain lip products. With that said, I have been passively looking for my “holy grail” beauty products and thought I had found it for eye liner when I stumbled on Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil eye liner. They come in a wide variety of colors and are waterproof. Really? Sign me up! I was gifted a full set of minis (9 shades) and another set of a medium length size of 5 shades. I started using them but found that they didn’t apply in a creamy fashion on my lash line. I found the eye liner seem to require a firmer hand in application than I would like, so I didn’t use them much after that.
A few months later, I stumbled upon a pencil eye liner from Rimmel. It came free with the waterproof mascara I was purchasing. As soon as I used it, I was in love! It was a bittersweet moment as I thought about my Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner and how they were more expensive than this awesome drugstore brand product. Even though it wasn’t waterproof, I compared it side by side with the Urban Decay one (in black) and Rimmel gave me a darker result. It required less pressure in application for the look I want.
I was recently given the chance to try Milani’s Liquif’Eye eye liner and all I can say is WOW!
These are described as “an extremely smooth pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner that delivers true color payoff in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear” on the back of their packaging. They applied on smoothly and gives the slick, sophisticated look of liquid eye liner. I am not kidding! The wear is very impressive for my expectations of the product. It lasted a good 8 hours, my whole work day! Now of course, it isn’t as vibrant as it was when I started the day with it. I checked once in the middle of the day, during lunch. The wear was minimal. As the day goes on, we all know how the oil production on our faces go. I suspect most of the wear is attributed to that. But yeah, I swatched all the shades that I know of that Milani has available for sale currently along with my Urban Decay 24/7s. The only one I don’t have a close match from Urban Decay is the silver. The first one includes a swatch of the Rimmel eye liner I have (Rimmel leftmost, UD in the middle and Milani on the right). Milani is the rightmost one in all swatches.
You notice that Milani swatches are darker or more pigmented. It is finer too in the case of the last 3 shades. You can probably tell in the product pictures that the last 3 shades differ from the first 5. It gives a finer application and it is supposed to propel automatically. Cool! However, I prefer how the first 5 applies. I feel like I don’t need to use as much pressure with those. They glided on so easily. I pranced around with these colorful lines on my arm for the world to see. Thankfully, no one thought it was weird enough to say something or give me funny looks (that I know of at least!).
Here it is after a few hours and me intentionally smudging it by running my pointing finger over it vigorously.
You can see the evidence. Milani swatches are darker than Urban Decay still, so it’s telling me that the lasting power is the same (since the Milani swatches were darker when we started this), if not better, when compared to Urban Decay. And here is the day after shot.
Yes, I fell asleep that day and woke up to that. Hands down, I found my “holy grail” for eye liner. Milani, this is a winner.
Shades from this collection should be available in drugstores nationwide. Also check other known Milani retailers.
