Hey guys! It’s been a busy few weeks so I didn’t get to write more blog entries. I’ve picked up writing to some new pen pals from all over the world as well as a new interest in vintage stamps. I just find them cool and they’re still valid to use so I hope my pen pals think they’re cool. Today’s post is on something I’ve tried a few times in the past few weeks sent to me in my Influenster Bloom VoxBox 2016. Here’s Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter.
The Influenster insert boasts about this product: “Don’t let sad, thin, lifeless hair get in the way of another day. Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter will have you from drab-to-fab in just moments! This salon formula spray will thicken and strengthen your mane. It’ll add body, shine and some ooh la la.”
What I love about this product? I tried this for a few days and I had a friend try it on the spot at work one day. I like that it doesn’t dry out my hair to give it volume like most volumizing shampoo and conditioners do. The effect is immediate and quite noticeable. However, I don’t think it lasts that long. My hair went back to being deflated — though not all the way limp — by the end of the day. My hair still had some volume but definitely not close to what I started with right after using the product. It’s easy to apply and a little goes a long way. Applying too much would start making my hair tangle easier at the ends. Still, this is a better option than volumizing shampoos and conditioners I’ve tried in the past. I find the scent pleasant and it dissipates over time. Do follow the directions provided on how to use this. I ended up with greasy hair once just because I decided to spray it on.
What I don’t like about this product? The effect isn’t long-lasting like what I get from John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. Still, this is the best non in-shower treatment I have tried so far giving the best results.

Hey guys! Today’s post is on another item I got from my Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box. Here’s my take on the John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment.
What I love about this product? This product works! I am happy to report this even if it didn’t quite last the 7 days it claims to for me. I’m really not sure what kind of magic ju ju they put in this but a little goes a long way. My first time using this, I applied it from close to the scalp and running my fingers to the ends. I realized that this probably isn’t the best way to do it. While it gave my hair tons of volume, I got a lot more tangles at the ends by using it. The product kinda gives the hair more grip. I initially thought it was just drying it out more, but I realized that this is not the case at all. I just have to use this product to my own advantage after knowing how it acts and feels. The next time I used this, I concentrated applying the product more on the roots at the crown of my head. That’s where I want more volume anyway. I definitely conditioned my hair a lot from the ends towards the roots. This gave me the best results. Volume is out of this world with my hair after the first wash. It tapers off with the next wash but I was pleasantly surprised that my hair still has a ton of volume. For me, I wouldn’t use this more than once a week — which is kinda coincidental since the name of this product has “7 day” in it. I’m glad that I got this sample in my Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box because I don’t think I would’ve tried this out otherwise. I tend to think things with too good to be true claims are more likely to be flops really.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing! John Frieda is a trusted brand that is carried in many retailers nationwide. I love how accessible it is.
More information on this item and other products from this brand is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.
While I I loved most of the items from the Target Head Of The Class 2015 Beauty Box, I couldn’t resist getting this one as well. Here’s the Target Honor Roll 2015 Beauty Box.
Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. For $5, again, you really can’t go wrong. I almost didn’t get it (just like the Head Of The Class beauty box released at the same time) and I’m glad that I did.
I gave the elastics from the other box away so I’m keeping this one of myself. The item I am most excited to try is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. The first item I opened and used is the NYX Butter Gloss. The shade I got is Strawberry Parfait. I’ve been using a bath mitt for a while now so a bath pouf (they call it sponge but I call those things poufs) would be nice for a change. I actually think I’ll be using every single thing in this box. All in all, I like this beauty box better and as usual it does come with a $3 off $15 coupon on beauty items to use at Target.
Hey guys! The month is almost over and this month’s ipsy was so-so that I almost didn’t want to blog about it. It’s not the worst bag I’ve ever got from them but none of the items excite me as much as it used to. At least I think this month’s bag is better than last month’s. The print is colorful and very unlike last month’s black bag with a weird texture. Here’s what I got in my ipsy July 2015 Glam Bag.
First item that caught my eye is the Octavio Molina Hair La Playa Salt Spray. I can’t wait to play around with this more as there are times that I need more oomph. Next item is the Be A Bombshell Lip Balm. The shade I got is French Kiss, which is a light pink. I’m trying to trim down my lip products so I’ll probably pass this on to my nieces. Next up is Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser. I’m eager to try this out but I’m finishing something up at the moment so it will have to wait. Then we have OFRA Bliss Eyeshadow. I wasn’t eager to try this product out for 2 main reasons: the packaging and it’s another eye shadow. I am trying to use up what I currently own in terms of lots of kinds of products and eye shadow is one of them. Now the packaging doesn’t make it easy to pass this on in terms of presentation so I may just try it out. Last item is the Tarte Deluxe Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I already own this from a mini set last year. This shade is called park ave princess. I may gift this to someone else since I don’t think I’ll hit the pan on the one I already have anytime soon.
Overall, some items are better than last month. I hope next month’s is much better though because I’m honestly thinking about canceling this. I think I already have too much stuff around to use up.
Hey guys! It’s that time of the month again thanks to ipsy! I got this month’s bag a few days ago and it didn’t wow me intially, but I did like it better than last month’s bag shown here. Here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2015 Glam Bag.
I like the color and print of the bag this month. The material isn’t close to giving any protection from water and the likes though like some of their past bags. But that’s okay. It suited the theme of Valentine’s for this month. The first item that caught my eye was the Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray. I’ve been trying to refocus on taking better care of my hair for almost 2 months now. I had my husband chop a good amount off to get rid of the dead ends and unhealthy bits. In my current rotation to use after I wash my hair are Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner and Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive. I can’t wait to try this out since I’ve had a good experience with this brand so far in the past (see Curtain Call: Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask). Next item that caught my eye is the CARGO Cosmetics Mini Lip Gloss. The shade I got is called Anguilla. I’ve seen a lot of beauty bloggers talk about Cargo Cosmetics, but it’s not a brand that I’ve went out of my way to search for and stuff. I did get a deluxe sample of their blush from an ULTA bag freebie last year but I haven’t gotten around to try it. It looks to be a pretty pink color. I think I’ll keep it sealed to add to someone’s goody bag as an extra in a gift or for a giveaway. I have too many lip glosses open as it is right now. The most intriguing item to me is the “Pencil Me In” Cosmetics Natural Eye Liner Pencil. It’s because this product comes with a built in sharpener on the cap. It looked differently than usual eye pencils, so it stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I have too many eye liner items out already, so this will go into the same pile as the lip gloss. Next item up is ModelCo BLUSH Cheek Powder. The shade I got is in Peach Bellini. It looks to be a very wearable pretty coral shade. I’ll hold off on opening it for a while though. I have to check my stash to make sure I don’t already have something very similar to it. The lighting of the picture below is just horrible, so you can’t see the real color of the blush. The group shot above is more color accurate for that. Last item is the one that didn’t quite fit into the bag. It’s the Luxie Beauty Large Angled Face Brush 504. I’ve never heard of this brand and if I didn’t have the makeup brushes I do right now — I’d actually use it. The handle is light pink in color and the brush bristles is very light and fluffy.
This month is not bad really. I’m excited now about next month’s bag! 🙂
