Freeman Papaya and Mango Moisture Shampoo

I am 2 months in using this product and I feel like I have enough to provide a comprehensive review. Today’s post is on Freeman Papaya and Mango Moisture Shampoo.

Freeman Papaya and Mango Moisture Shampoo

What I love about this product? It’s supposed to be color safe and rich in moisture, which is a welcoming thing for dry and damaged hair. I was actually pretty happy with how it performed even though I don’t have colored hair and my hair is neither dry nor damaged. The most interesting thing I found about it is that it acts like a clarifying shampoo almost for me. It gives me that squeaky clean feeling in my hair that I normally get with clarifying shampoos. It’s just not to the same degree — which isn’t a bad thing at all! I really appreciate it as summer weather is here and my hair tends to fall limp faster due to any products and natural oils from my scalp weighing it down. This provides some relief to that until the next wash. The scent of this product is definitely on the fruity side although it doesn’t strike me as having the freshness tone that fresh fruit has.

What I don’t like about this product? It looks to be discontinued. -.-

Walmart Summer 2017 Beauty Box

I got this box in almost a month ago but never got around to posting it until now. This is one of the more “meh” boxes I’ve gotten from Walmart. It’s still not bad for $5 but they’ve done much better boxes than this one. The content just didn’t really wow me. Here’s what I got in my Walmart Summer 2017 Beauty Box.

Walmart Summer 2017 Beauty Box

Overall, it’s okay. I wish they’d change up the shampoo and conditioner combo unless it’s from some brand we’ve never heard of or rarely get samples of. Maybe more makeup items too even if it’s sample size?!

Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box

So I actually almost forgot I have this beauty box subscription until an email asked if I wanted to switch it up for something special or stay with whatever setting I have already made in my account. I didn’t want to mess with it so I opted to just stay with my current setting. This popped in my mailbox about a week ago. Here’s what I got in my Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box.

Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box

Overall, pretty good stuff. In fact, as soon as I saw the lip product I knew that I had to give it to my sister from another mister Renuky. 🙂 It became part of her flip book goodies, which by the way is so much fun to make and hers is the first one I’ve given out so far. I made one for her birthday. 🙂 The shade seems light enough to suit her especially with it being a lip gloss. The first thing I’m trying out is the whitening toothpaste as we’ve been using regular whitening toothpaste and I’m not really seeing any difference so it’s time to change it up!

Curtain Call: Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Diamond Color & Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner

Hey, hey! Quick late night post here with an edition of Curtain Call! I recently finished up something I got from the Walmart Summer 2016 Beauty Box. Here’s my take on the Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Diamond Color & Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner.

Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Diamond Color & Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner

What I love about this product? I didn’t have super high hopes for this product really as it’s just shampoo and conditioner. I did try to look out for things that will make it stand out as the market for this type of products is oversaturated already. The scent surprised me a little — it’s not very feminine at all. It’s not floral, fruity, earthy or clean. It’s slightly more masculine, at least according to my nose. It makes me think of a manly fragrance in a good way but not overpowering at all, especially when my hair is dry. If this is a concern, know that the scent fades away a lot as the day goes on after it’s dry. The formula is what I have come to expect of from a regular shampoo and conditioner really and it does the job — it cleans my hair very well.

What I don’t like about this product? No complaints over here at all. While it doesn’t have any earth-shattering properties that makes it stand out from other shampoos and conditioners, it does the job and it does it well.

Walmart Summer 2016 Beauty Box

I got my Walmart Summer 2016 Beauty Box in about 2 weeks ago. I was fairly pleased with what I got for $5.

Walmart Summer 2016 Beauty Box

I’ve seen a few boxes where the polish strips are of a different print but everything else is the same. I’m eager to try out the toothpaste in this set. I must say I’m a little bit tired of seeing the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs again. It keeps popping up in various beauty boxes.

St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs

Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair Lotion

Incoco Coconut Nail Art Polish Strips

ARM & HAMMER Truly Radiant Clean & Fresh Toothpaste

Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Diamond Color & Radiance Shampoo & Conditioner

Lady Gaga Fame Perfume Sample

Not bad overall. Still a great deal for the price in my opinion.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo

I’ve been running around trying to redeem my birthday rewards before April was up and this got me to revisiting what I have in my stash to try and use up. One of them has been what I got from the recent Walmart Spring 2016 Beauty Box. Here’s my take on the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo

What I love about this product? It comes in a tube container that easily dispenses the product. I’m used to the traditional plastic bottle containers more but I’ve used a decent amount shampoos that come in the tube packaging. When I get to the end of the product I just add a little bit of water and shake the last bit of it to apply onto my hair. The scent is pretty good — typical of what I expect from a cologne-y or masculine type scent for a shampoo really. The formula is a of the same consistency as other John Frieda shampoos I’ve tried in the past. My husband didn’t care for the color of the product at all. I think he was weirded out with the brown or bronze-y color. Still, it does the job of a shampoo really so can’t complain on that.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really but there are other lines from this brand that I prefer over this one. I don’t see myself buying this once it’s all used up.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here. This product can easily be purchased in various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens. It is also available online at various websites that carry beauty and personal care products.

Walmart Spring 2016 Beauty Box

I finally, FINALLY got my Walmart Spring 2016 Beauty Box a few days ago. I was wondering if I was even gonna get one since I’ve seen people get theirs a few weeks ago. I thought maybe there was something wrong with my billing or there was some glitch. But nope, here it is in all its full glory:

Walmart Spring 2016 Beauty Box

Everything came packed securely in the sturdy cardboard box.As usual, this box costs only $5. Can’t beat that really in my opinion. I’m pretty sure the contents of my box differed from those that I’ve seen who got them a week or 2 earlier. Maybe they ran out of some stuff but I like pretty much everything I got so I’m not complaining!

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser

Colgate Optic White Toothpaste

Curel Itch Defense Body Wash

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo

CeraVe Healing Ointment

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick

Various Samples and Coupons

The item I’m most excited about to try is the Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser. I actually almost purchased it when I was at ULTA recently. Now I have a sample to try it out first to see if I like it. Hope y’all are having a great weekend so far and stay tuned for my take on some of the items from this box!

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

Hey guys! Today’s another busy week but it’s crawling along nicely. I work one day next week and won’t be back at work until next year. I’m looking forward to it greatly. Today’s post is on an item I got from the Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box. Here’s SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo.

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

What I love about this product? It does the job really. It smells pleasant — almost as expected for a shampoo really. I don’t detect much fruit really but everyone’s nose is different. It cleans pretty well without stripping all the oils off completely. The shampoos I’ve been using lately have been on the clarifying side so this is a nice change. I can get away without using a conditioner just about. I might get a few tangles but that’s about it. This contains marula oil and biotin, which I assume helps with keeping hair moisturized.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really. I don’t think this is as widely available as other brands but I’d stock up on this when it goes on sale.

More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.

Nexxus Diametress Regimen

Hey guys! Today’s blog post is on some items I got from Influenster recently. I was given the opportunity to try it and I used it for a little over a month now. Here’s my take on the Nexxus Diametress Regimen.

Nexxus Diametress Regimen

I got the rebalancing shampoo, restoring conditioner and headress leave in conditioning creme. This set is supposed to help with giving hair more volume and I can see how they did it. This regimen is described as the following online:

Gently Clarified, Fully Redensified

Reveal thicker, fuller hair with this highly sophisticated volumizing system. Specifically formulated with concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and Green Tea Extract, our Diametress regimen increases the diameter of each hair strand for beautiful fluidity and buoyant volume.

Nexxus Diametress Shampoo & Conditioner

Shampoo description on the website: Enriched with concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and Green Tea Extract, our Diametress Rebalancing Shampoo gently clarifies while increasing hair diameter, unlocking thicker, fuller-looking hair.

Conditioner description on the website: Enriched with concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and Green Tea Extract, our Diametress Restoring Conditioner seals in moisture and leaves hair looking thicker and full of volume.

Nexxus Diametress Regimen

Leave in Conditioning Crème description on the website: Enriched with concentrated, 100% pure Elastin Protein and Green Tea Extract, our Diametress Headress Leave In Conditioning Crème seals in moisture, volumizing hair and increasing the diameter of each strand for thicker, fuller, deeply nourished hair.

What I love about this product? First, just by looking at the front of the bottles I see that it’s to help give hair volume. With that said, I found the shampoo to be on the clarifying side and looking it up more online it does indicate that it’s a clarifying shampoo. This is partly how it gives hair more volume. There’s no oils or residue left to weight it down at all. As for the conditioner — I love it. It does a great job in giving back what was lost in terms of moisture after using the shampoo. The shampoo strips oils off very well that I wouldn’t go without conditioner whether it’s from the same brand or from another brand. It will just be too drying. The conditioner is in the “just right” category in my opinion. This means that it isn’t heavy leaving residue to weigh hair down in an attempt to moisturize the hair. It’s also not super thin that doesn’t give enough conditioning properties to the hair. The scent is a pleasant clean scent. It’s not strong or overpowering and lingers only very lightly.

As for the last item, I feel that you can do without it if you’re using the shampoo and conditioner from this line. The shampoo and conditioner combination works really good as is. I barely get any tangles in my long hair by using both everyday. That’s another thing to note, because that this is a clarifying type of shampoo I wouldn’t aim to use it everyday. I did initially because I didn’t realize it was a clarifying shampoo at first (I got too excited and went ahead to use it immediately without reading past the front of the bottle). It can irritate and dry out your scalp like it did with mine. With that said, my suggestion is to use the shampoo and conditioner and not follow up with the leave in conditioner. Only use the leave in conditioner when needed or when not using this shampoo and conditioner combination (or maybe just shampoo followed by the leave in conditioner?). I also like the fact that Nexxus is easily accessible to most nationwide.

What I don’t like about this product? While I do like everything in this collection, it is priced higher than most drugstore and mass retailer shampoo and conditioner brands. Don’t get me wrong, there are others that are pricier than Nexxus but there are a lot that are cheaper too and they boast the same things as this line does.

These items are available on various drugstore and mass retailers nationwide as well as online (listed on their websitehere.

KERANIQUE® Clean & Condition Set

Hey guys! Today’s blog post is on something else I got from iFabbo recently. I was given the opportunity to try it and I used it for a little over 3 weeks. Here’s my take on the KERANIQUE® Clean & Condition Set.

KERANIQUE® Clean Condition Set

The product comes in typical packaging for shampoo and conditioner bottles. This set is described as the following on their website:

The foundation for thicker, fuller looking hair. The Clean & Condition Set is specially formulated to gently clean and stimulate the scalp to nourish and rejuvenate the hair follicles.

Shampoo description on the website: Designed to gently deep clean and stimulate the scalp to nourish and rejuvenate the hair follicles.

Conditioner description on the website: This volume-boosting cream-gel conditioner is designed specifically to help thicken and volumize thin, fine hair – without weighing the hair down like traditional heavy conditioners.

What I love about this product? First, the products have a mint scent to them but it’s so light that it’s pleasant. In fact, if it wasn’t for a very mild cooling sensation that typically comes with mint scented and/or formulated products I wouldn’t have noticed it at all. This is a nice feature for me as most mint scented products I’ve tried are so strong with that herb that I find it too overpowering along with the amplified cooling sensation it comes with. Don’t get me wrong, it can be nice but there’s a reason why I like taking hot showers. I typically don’t use mint scented bath products when the weather is cooler. When it’s summer though, I welcome it with open arms. With that said, I won’t hesitate using this set year round due to the fact that the “mintiness” in these are toned down. There’s still enough to give you a slightly cooling or minty feel along with leaving hair squeaky clean. Speaking of squeaky clean, the shampoo leaves my hair feeling just that (more than I thought it would). It makes sense though as oils weigh hair down and the insert that came with this set boasts of giving added volume to hair. I didn’t notice any added volume with the first use and thought it was a bust honestly. But after using it the second day, I definitely noticed my hair has more volume after coming home from work. I was stashing clean laundry away and happen to pass by the bathroom mirror where I noticed that my hair has more lift and volume. It would be practically flat at that time of the day. The only difference is that I started using this set. I was impressed from that point onward. I used both the shampoo and conditioner when trying this set out and that means the conditioner doesn’t weigh my hair down like how most conditioners do. The insert mentions about thicker hair along with hair being healthier and younger-looking…..and while I can see healthier and younger-looking, I can’t really say I have thicker hair from using this. I will say that it can give the illusion of having thicker hair due to the added volume. If that’s what their claim is with regards to that then I will say that it’s true.

What I don’t like about this product? While I do like this set, there are 2 things that were downers for me: 1) It’s partly my fault but I thought that the products from this brand would give me results that I have come to expect from hair care products with keratin — super smooth and silky hair and 2) The price — this set retails for $79.95 or $34.95 each. I can look past #1 as that assumption I have was based on my use in the past of hair products with keratin but #2 is harder as there is a huge market out there for products like this. It’s just a matter of finding out what works for you to give you what you want (like with this its volume). Even though the bottles are on the large size of 8 fl oz / 240 ml, a lot of other shampoo and conditioner brands with decent formula available in mass retailers and specialty stores are a fraction of that. It’s also a little weird cause if you purchase the 2 items separately on their website then the total would be $69.90……cheaper than getting it as a set for $79.95 although the set has a sale going on or something right now that it’s reduced by $30 for a total of $49.95.

Individually, they retail for $34.95 each. As a set, it retails for $79.95. These items are available on their website.

Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

After using the ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner for a while, I decided to try out the Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner from my Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box.

Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

What I love about this product? The scent is a nice departure from floral and fruity scents. It’s also not a clean scent that some shampoos have but a more cologne type kind of scent I would say. It does the job of both shampoo and conditioner I would say but the formula wouldn’t have me coming back for more honestly. The shampoo is kind of silvery translucent in color while the conditioner is the typical white.

What I don’t like about this product? The first time I used it, I thought it was strange that it felt like the shampoo stripped my hair of moisture but I reasoned that I’m using the conditioner with it so it’s okay. Well, my hair is noticeably more limp and has less volume with the use of both products. Hoping to resolve this, I decided to try just using the shampoo and it didn’t help much. My hair is still more limp than with what I was using before trying this pair. At least it’s not brittle or very dry. I was actually nervous that I might be the only one with a negative experience but looks like reading up reviews online on this it’s all across the board. Some gave it very high praises as it saved their hair while others have extremely bad experience with this (mostly feeling that it’s stripping their hair of moisture a lot). As I’ve mentioned in a lot of my reviews before, different strokes for different folks. Almost nothing works for everyone so don’t take my negative review as exactly what you will experience with the same product.

This item should be available in various drugstores and mass retailers nationwide.

ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner

Hey guys! Hope the start of the week went well for y’all! It was quite productive for me at work but let me tell ya….I didn’t really want to get out of bed this morning. LOL! I am so happy writing this post at the moment because I managed to stop by Bath & Body Works again today after realizing that today is their last day for the 2 for 24 candle sale. Not knowing when they’ll have one again, I went to the store after confirming the store I was going to got more 3-wicks in the scent Leaves. It was the one scent I really wanted to get yesterday since I’ve never smelled it before that I’ve heard lots of good things about it. They were sold out! They got a new shipment in today and I called to make sure they had it out on the floor before I went. It was even better than what I could’ve expected it to be. It’s THE FALL SCENT for me from them to date. Anyway, today’s post is on something I’ve reviewed recently. I mentioned that one of the things I didn’t like was the quality of the product labels especially for what they retail for. Well, they offered to send another set to me with their updated labels and I’m glad to report that it’s much better. Here’s my take on the ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner.

ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner

ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner

My previous review based on the trial size set can be found here. With that said, I took the chance to possibly improve the formula based on the customization with what I learned with the trial set. I’ve been using it for at least 2 weeks now. I also changed up the scent to see what something other than Jasmine would fare so I chose Vanilla. In terms of scent, I didn’t feel like it smelled like what I thought a vanilla scent would be. My co-worker sis Renu didn’t think so either. My husband did thought it smelled somewhat like vanilla. It’s just definitely not the bakery vanilla scent I expected it might be. It does smell familiar somewhat but I couldn’t quite pin down on what it is. With the newer formula, there is only a minimal difference that I noticed compared to the trial set. I only changed one thing if I remember right. The shampoo is still more viscous than most shampoos I’ve tried. To be honest, I think it’s not just most but ANY shampoo I’ve ever tried. If you’re not aware of the viscosity of this, you might end up wasting a lot of the product (which would be a tragedy since you’re paying a pretty penny for this). Just tilt the bottle slowly to see how fluid it is as to not waste any product. The conditioner is more or less of the same viscosity and texture as I would expect a conditioner to be….just like what I experienced in my review of the trial set. And just like I mentioned before with my earlier review, the shampoo can feel like it’s a little bit on the clarifying side. Not as much of my oils stripped as with the trial set for sure due to the slightly different customized formula I think. The conditioner does well in replenishing what is lost after shampooing.

Verdict? Definitely answer the questions for customization as honestly as you can. I do think it makes a difference even if it’s minimal. I can tell the difference in the formula, while subtle, between the trial set and the full-sized set. All I did was change the fragrance and one selection. Their labels are waterproof now so they stay pretty and shiny just like what you’d expect.

This product can easily be purchased on their website here.

Curtain Call: ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner

Here’s another segment of Curtain Call. The product up for evaluation and review this time is ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner. I was sent this for review after answering some basic questions about my hair.

A set of 50 ml / 1.7 fl oz retails for $15 online. The full size set of 300 ml / 10.1 fl oz retails for $38 on auto delivery or $49 one time or if you just want the full size shampoo or conditioner it’s $24 on auto delivery or $29 one time. The trial size set lasted me for 8 days. With my long hair, that’s to be expected really. The front text reads “Kitty’s Shampoo” and “Kitty’s Conditioner” with a custom formula ID printed out along with the custom scent. The label looks very nice. The back of the bottle reads the following:

“Customized for the Hair Type, Hair Texture, Hair Behavior, Scalp Conditioner and Scent specified by

Kitty C

DIRECTIONS (shampoo)
Apply generous amount to wet hair and massage into hair and scalp. Lather and rinse.

DIRECTIONS (conditioner)
Apply to freshly washed hair concentrating mostly on the ends. Leave for 1-2 minutes, then rinse well.”

ProfilePRO Customized Shampoo & Conditioner

Verdict? The biggest difference that I noticed is definitely on the first use. My hair felt squeaky clean without being drying after shampooing. I applied the conditioner and left it in for a few minutes before rinsing it off. My hair felt soft and well conditioned after air drying. It was a mild enough formula that I was able to use it daily (I rarely skip a day due to how greasy my scalp can be especially during the summer months) even when the formula is a little bit on the cleansing side for me. The scent isn’t overpowering and isn’t quite a true jasmine scent to me but very close. It doesn’t smell too artificial in my opinion. The scent does linger a bit but it’s very light. Talking about texture, the shampoo is a little bit more viscous than most shampoos I’ve tried. Not watery at all really…just not as thick in texture. The conditioner is of the typical texture that most conditioners have. I found that the conditioner lasted longer for me than the shampoo by a day (so 9 days for conditioner). The one thing I am disappointed with is at the price point it is selling for — you would think that the labels are waterproof. This is not the case. While the sticker labels remained on the bottles in my shower stall (it lifted on the sides but remained stuck on the bottles), the ink started to run as the days pass by. With all that laid out, I don’t see myself placing an order for this. While the customization is nice, I don’t find it too different from the shampoos I’m using currently to justify what it costs. I would say that there’s no hurt in trying it at least once to see if it works for you. Everyone’s hair is different and someone else’s customized shampoo and conditioner may turn out to be their Holy Grail shampoo and conditioner. You just never know. If you do try it, I hope your results are exponentially better than mine.

This product can easily be purchased on their website here.

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

I recently got this in the mail and was going to take product shots on Sunday but was very busy with household chores. It was sunny and my husband actually got us a new game from Steam so he chipped in and took the product shots for me as I finished up the household chores. Bless his heart! He didn’t use the zoom function that I always do and actually even took product shots of the lotion foil packet sample as well as the fragrance vial sample. I would’ve skipped both of those but I can’t really complain with free help right? Here’s what I got with my Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box.

Walmart Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box. There is one more item in this box than I’m used to, making this a pretty good deal for $5.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo

Neutrogena CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 70

NIVEA Soft Moisturizing Creme

NYC Liquid Lipshine Lip Gloss

Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash

Jergens Natural Glow

One Direction You & I Perfume

This is much better than the last box, Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box. The extra item contributed greatly to that and the samples are more applicable to me than the previous boxes. The coupons are nice too in this box.

Sally Beauty Box

I don’t quite remember if I entered a contest or something but this showed up at my door last week and I was pleasantly surprised! I’ll ask my contact at Sally Beauty if they’re coming up with a subscription beauty box or what. Anyways, here’s what’s inside my Sally Beauty Box.

Sally Beauty Box

Sally Beauty Box Details

The box contains 5 items, only 2 of which I am more familiar with. One ‘n Only Argan Oil Treatment 12-in-1 Daily Treatment is something new to me. I’ve seen products in this packaging before at Sally Beauty stores and have always been intrigued but never had the time to just browse through to figure out what I should try. I’ve always only gone there for a purpose — mainly sales. The next item is the Cutex Nail Polish Remover Pads. I’ve known this brand even from when I was a little girl in the Philippines. Then we have China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. Well, nail polish is a thing here on this blog and this is something I already have so I’ll pass this on to my niece. China Glaze is one of my favorite brands when it comes to nail polish. Then we have Hair One Jojoba Hair Cleanser Conditioner For Color Treated Hair. My hair isn’t color treated so I’ll have to read up more on this to make sure it’s suitable for use on my hair. The last item is the Biotera Ultra Moisturizing Reconstructing Conditioner. I’ll have to read up on this too as I originally didn’t read the label and thought it was a face mask. Haha! 😀

Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo

Okay guys, here’s the item I was most excited about to review from the Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015 I got a few weeks ago. It immediately was put to the test and I was very happy with my findings. Here’s Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo.

Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo

The Influenster insert boasts about this product: “Inspired by the benefits of nutrient-packed, vitalizing ingredients like strawberry and ginger, Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo deeply cleanses hair to remove buildup for lustrous, natural shine. Similar to how a juice cleanse can detoxify your body, the Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo cleanses the hair of dulling residues and can be used as a regular shampoo or a deep clean supplement to your routine.”

Verdict? This product comes in a pump top plastic bottle that’s tinted amber in color. It has a nice scent to it that’s really fresh. That’s where the ginger aspect comes I guess. It’s not full-on ginger though, which is where the strawberry makes its presence felt. It’s responsible for the sweetness in the scent. My husband described it as “nice smelling grass” without me telling him about strawberry and ginger in the description. Consistency is what is expected from a shampoo — maybe a tinge on the thicker side. I have been using a few drops of hair oil on the ends of my hair ever since I went to St. John for my honeymooniversary to help with whatever perceived possible damage salt water may bring to my hair. I also have an oilier scalp to begin with. Both of that requires daily washing for my liking. If I skip one day, my hair is limp and my roots are greasy. Since it’s warmer now, it starts to get that greasy at the end of the day sometimes. When I started using this, I noticed that my hair and scalp feels squeaky clean instead of just clean. I was even happier when my scalp isn’t as oily as before at the end of the day. I haven’t been using a clarifying shampoo for months and am in need of it. I’ve used it twice a week now and I think that’s a good schedule for me to use it. I certainly don’t want to use it on a daily basis as it does strip off residue and more as promised. This came right on time to the rescue. Bonus points goes to it being silicon free, paraben free and mineral oil free.

This retails for $9.99 for 10.1 fl oz / 300 ml. It is available at mass retailers and drug stores nationwide as well as various online stores. For a full list of online and in-store retailers, click here.

Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015

“Long time no see Influenster!” is what I literally said to myself (again!) when I got this in the mail. I was very surprised when I got an email that I qualified for it because it’s been so long! The Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015 contains various items that is not targeted in any specific department such as beauty or wellness. It’s a mix of things and I’m very excited to cover them all in future posts. Here are the contents of the box:

Influenster Blossom VoxBox 2015

The Nasoya item is happily sitting in the fridge right now and I passed one of the Bear Naked goodies to my husband to snack on. The Clairol Hair Food Root Cleansing Shampoo has been in use for the past few days now. I can tell you as early as now that I’m quite impressed with that one. More details to come in the next few days!

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

My Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box came in right after I got back from my honeymooniversary. I missed out on their Winter 2014 one but I saw this when I was looking through my Instagram feed one day when I was at St. John and quickly grabbed my wallet and ordered it with the rental’s Wi-fi. I was so happy that my order went through and the email confirmation showed up in my inbox. I was really happy with last year’s box shown here. I hoped this box is just as good if not better and it did not disappoint! Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a black reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

L’Oréal Infallible® Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray

Maybelline COLOR ELIXIR™ BY COLOR SENSATIONAL®

TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hair Spray

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

I was excited to see the hair products the most. The first item I’ll end up using is probably the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream. I got 5 things for $5 shipped, which is really good. There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I hope none are damaged as the dry shampoo I got with last year’s box was a dud. It wouldn’t spray anything at all so it must’ve been damaged during shipping or something.

Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items.

Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box

This box came recently and it didn’t wow me or anything. I actually forgot about it until I got charged the $5 in my credit card statement. I actually thought about canceling it though, but I figured I’ll do that if the next box isn’t that great. Here’s what I got with my Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box.

Walmart Spring 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box as with the Fall and Winter one. None of the items really speak out to me, but it’s still not bad for $5 really.

Schwarzkopf essence ULTÎME Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

Dove go fresh Revitalize Body Wash

Rimmel Lash Accelerator

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser

I feel that the Walmart Fall 2014 Beauty Box was definitely better in terms of value for the $5 I paid and this is the same sentiment I expressed in my review of the Walmart Winter 204 Beauty Box.

Overall, I’ll wait for one more box (yet again) to decide if I’ll continue on with this subscription or not.

L’Oréal OleoTherapy Shampoo & Conditioner

This is a recent goodie from my Walmart Winter 2014 Beauty Box. Out of everything I got from that box, this left the biggest impression on me. Here’s my take on the L’Oréal OleoTherapy Shampoo & Conditioner.

L’Oréal OleoTherapy Shampoo & Conditioner

What I love about this product? At first, I put off using it because I thought it was just another shampoo and conditioner set. I thought that the oil infused aspect of this new line could be just a gimmick. I only got to try this recently and I noticed a huge difference in my hair. My hair suddenly has pretty decent volume. I honestly didn’t expect that at all especially with the oil infused part of it. I thought it might actually weigh my hair down a bit. The scent is pleasant for both shampoo and conditioner in my opinion. I know not everyone liked the smell on this as it’s less perfume-y I would say. It’s a cleaner type of smell. The texture is actually kinda thick. It squeezed out of the tube and all I can think of is it looked like hair gel. It performs like a champ for me both shampoo and conditioner. My hair is soft and I don’t have problems with the amount of moisture I get from it (hair’s not dry or oily).

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing. I’d actually purchase this again unless my experience with this pair changes.

For more details on this and other L’Oréal products, visit their website here. These are available at various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens. It is also available online at various websites that carry beauty and personal care products.

Walmart Winter 2014 Beauty Box

This box came wayyy later than I expected. But I didn’t mind really since I have all the holiday stuff and sales going about. I actually almost forgot about it until I saw a charge in my credit card statement. Here’s what I got with my Walmart Winter 2014 Beauty Box.

Walmart Fall Winter Beauty Box

Everything came in the same sturdy cardboard box as with the Fall one. None of the items really speak out to me, but it’s not bad for $5 really.

L’Oréal OleoTherapy Shampoo & Conditioner

Olay Fresh Effects Make-up Removal Cloths

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream

Maybelline Color Sensational® Lip Color

I feel that the Walmart Fall 2014 Beauty Box was definitely better in terms of value for the $5 I paid. I’ve already reviewed the Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream here since I got this one from the Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box earlier.

Overall, I’m not feeling this box really. I’ll wait for one more box to determine if I’ll continue on with this or canceling my subscription.

Walmart Fall 2014 Beauty Box

I was very excited when I first heard about Walmart having a beauty box just like Target, but I did not sign up to get one due to their internet security issue. The URL of the site to get the beauty box was “http” and not “https” when it first went live and that raised a huge red flag to me. After talking to several people who knows a lot about internet security, I decided that it wasn’t worth the risk to sign up for it. A month or so went by and I happen to just randomly check it again and the URL now shows “https”. I signed up that day and here’s what I got with mine:

Walmart Fall 2014 Beauty Box

Everything came in a sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got the beauty box either has the exact same one as mine or another version. Mine is I think for the older age group or something like that. I like my version to begin with anyway because there’s more stuff I can use from this.

L’Oréal Glossy Balm

Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid Deodorant

CoverGirl Outlast Glossy Days Glosstinis Nail Polish

Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

Dove Pure Care Dry Oil

Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Fragrance, Neutrogena & L’Oréal Samples

It’s definitely worth the $5 price tag to me. Items I am most excited about are the ones from Dove. They are currently in use right now as I figure out which ones are worth repurchasing the full size version. The L’Oréal Glossy Balm is reserved for my niece that loves lip products and the nail polish is a bright yellow that’s right up my alley. The deodorant itself pays for the beauty box prize. The other small samples are nice to have, but they’re not that applicable to me currently.

Overall, not bad and I can’t wait to see what they have to offer in their next beauty box.

Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box

Some of you guys saw that I got my Target Beauty Box about a week ago on my Instagram account here. I thought about skipping it this time around, but I’m glad I didn’t! There is a good number of things in here for me to try out. I had to call to get my shipping waived because it was supposed to come with free shipping in the first place (but this was not the case when I checked out online). This deal is available online only and is gone by now (you really gotta be quick with this as it goes fast), but definitely keep your eyes peeled cause it’s worth it! Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box

Everything came in a white reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it with the exception of the CoverGirl lip gloss. Some got it in a pink color.

L’Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Sizzle Gloss

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream

TONI&GUY Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray

When I was inspecting the contents of the box, my man exclaimed that it’s worth it for the L’Oréal Voluminous Butterfly mascara alone. Why he said that? I don’t know. Did he know that it’s true? It’s a 50-50 chance with that guess, but I think he did guess that the mascara alone costs more than $5 plus tax (and he’s right at that). There’s also a $3 off $15 on beauty purchases at Target coupon included in the box, which makes this deal even sweeter. I’ve never used a texturizing spray before, so I’m curious if I’ll like it or not. I’ve never used a dry shampoo before either. I just never got around to picking one up after doing some research, but this saves me the time and effort for it. The Jergens item….I know and have seen what a BB cream can do for the face in terms of makeup; I’m just not quite convinced it’s just as effective for the body. But sure, I’ll give it a shot anyway. I grew up with this brand and haven’t gotten anything from them since I came to the US (2000).

Stick around for some reviews (eventually) on some of these items. Were you able to get the box and if so, which is your favorite item?
