ipsy February 2016 Glam Bag

Hey guys! It’s a beautiful day today here in sunny Oklahoma! Guess what arrived in my mailbox? It’s a little later than usual this month but it could be worse. Here’s what I got in my ipsy February 2016 Glam Bag.

ipsy February 2016 Glam Bag

I like the bag a lot but it already has some damage right by the zipper (the makeup brush is covering it in the above pic). Not sure if it’s the nature of the material or what but that’s a bummer. I emailed ipsyCare about it with a clear pic of the damage so we’ll see what they say. First item that caught my eye is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye® Anti-Aging Concealer. I love this brand and I LOVE this product. I have used a slightly different version of concealer from them before (IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye® Waterproof Anti-Aging Concealer) but this should perform on the same level as that. Next up is Luxie Beauty Flat Definer Brush 221. I don’t use makeup brushes much and have a ton already so this will go in a gifting pile. Then we have Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion. I love microdermabrasions so I’ll be trying this out very soon. Next is the Promise Organic Ultra Moisturizing Argan Creme Facial Lotion. I just began a new facial skincare regimen so I’ll just save this up for when I travel. It’s the perfect size for it. Last item is the tre’StiQue Baby Blush Stick. The shade I got is called Bora Bora Coral. I already have too many blushes that I don’t use so I think I’ll just save this for part of a goody bag for someone later on.

Overall, the IT Cosmetics item made it worth it for me. I can’t stop raving about their concealers.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser

The first item out of my ipsy July 2015 Glam Bag that I tried is the Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Exfoliating Cleanser

What I love about this product? First, it has a good scent that’s not overpowering. I would describe it as a clean scent. But holy cow! The scrubbiness of this is just like some microdermabrasion products I’ve tried. I guess I didn’t expect that because it’s called a cleanser instead of a microdermabrasion product or a facial scrub. This is almost if not just as abrasive as the derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub that I tried from an earlier ipsy bag. It works really well as a microdermabrasion product. It left my skin very soft and smooth. I’d definitely suggest sticking to their usage suggestion of 3-5 times a week or even less depending on how sensitive your skin is.

What I don’t like about this product? The price. $10 gets you 20 g. It comes out to be slightly cheaper than the other one I’ve tried that it’s quite comparable to but it’s still pricey for me.

This item is available on their online store here as well as at various retailers found on their page here.

Curtain Call: derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub

Here’s another edition of Curtain Call. Today’s post is on the derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub. I got this item out of my ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag last year but have used it all up recently.

derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub

What I love about this product? First, it has a clean scent. The formula consists of very fine particles for scrubbiness that are white in color. It’s very, very scrubby. It’s fine for me but I think those with sensitive skin will not be able to use it (or if they do, very sparingly and rarely). It works really, really well for an at-home microdermabrasion. My skin is unbelievably soft and smooth. I have used it as much as every 2-3 days but it works even if you use it every week or few weeks or so.

What I don’t like about this product? The price. $32.50 gets you 2 oz / 56 g. That’s kinda steep for that I think but it does work so if you have the money and are willing to spend on it then go ahead.

This item is available on their online store here as well as at various online and local retailers found on their store locator here.

dr. brandt® Microdermabrasion

I’ve been trying to cycle through more of the trial and deluxe size beauty items I have in my stash to avoid having to accumulate a lot of things that are new and untried (and also to find out if some of them will be introduced into my beauty regimen). I started using this item from my ipsy April 2014 Glam Bag a few weeks ago in the shower. I’ve been using it up to twice a week and can now provide my feedback on this. Here’s dr. brandt® Microdermabrasion.

dr. brandt® Microdermabrasion

What I love about this product? First, it has a good scent that’s not overpowering. The lemon scent isn’t very faint, but since this is not a leave-on product then it doesn’t matter as much to me. It cleans my face up well like a face scrub would. The scrubbiness of this is not as aggressive as other microdermabrasion products I’ve tried. I could go with more scrubbiness with a product that’s meant for microdermabrasion. It leaves a tingly sensation like you would expect from a minty or menthol product. It doesn’t stay for long though, which is good since that would annoy me. With just the right amount of time, a tingly sensation equates to being refreshing for me. If the tingly sensation lasts for more than a few minutes — we have a problem.

What I don’t like about this product? The price. For what you get, I don’t think the price is worth it. I can get similar or better products that suits what I’m looking for in a mircrodermabrasion product for a fraction of what they’re selling this for. $78 for 2 oz / 60 g or $125 for 3.5 oz / 100 g is what this product retails for. I don’t doubt that it works for a lot of other people cause it’s a well-known and trusted brand. It’s just not for me for the combination of reasons I mentioned. I am glad I did get the chance to try it out or else I’ll be left wondering. If it goes for a really good sale price, I think I’ll consider grabbing it.

This item is available on their online store here as well as at various retailers such as Sephora, Macy’s and Beauty Brands.

ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag

Happy Friday! I’m so glad it’s the weekend already! I got my ipsy May Glam Bag 2 or 3 days ago, but recent things such as work, dishes with long prep time and a new car purchase with my husband took up a lot of my time. I finally got the chance to take pictures yesterday while I was reheating my turkey lasagna (which my husband ended up liking a lot — YAY!). Here’s everything from my ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag.

I liked every single thing I got with this month’s Glam Bag. The only thing I think I’m passing on is the Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo. I just have too many eye shadows right now, but I’m sure I’ll either include this in a future giveaway or add it to my ever-growing pile of small gifts I like to hand out to my husband’s nieces. Mine came intact but I have seen some mention that theirs came broken up during shipping. The one I got is Duo #1 (Celestial & Opal). These shades look perfect for maybe even using it as a highlighter in some instances. I have the Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50 on my bathroom counter right now, but opted not to use it just yet. I’ll put it to the test this weekend since I’ll be out in the sun for a decent amount of time. I’m glad to get this item as it’s perfect for summer. The item I loved getting the most in this month’s offering is the Revlon ColorBurst™ Matte Balm in Elusive. I own 2 shades before this one, Striking and Standout. I wanted to get Elusive, Shameless, Sultry, Unapologetic and Audacious at the very least. I was so glad that I got this in a shade I don’t own yet. Saves me a trip and purchase! The first thing I ended up trying is the derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub. Holy cow! My main tip for those that haven’t used it yet is to go gentle and slow at first to gauge how much pressure to use on your face with this. I personally loved this but can easily see that it might be too abrasive for those with sensitive skin. I started off not thinking much about it and realized that I need to go slow cause I was being too rough with it on my face. After I got the hang of the right pressure I’m comfortable with when massaging it on my face, it was heaven. I can almost say 100% that I will repurchase this item. Lastly, the Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask is an item that immediately ended up in my shower. I used it this morning and so far — pretty good! It will take more testing for me to give a thorough review later on in another blog post. I thought this month’s makeup bag is cool, but it definitely looked better on the ipsy site. I didn’t think it actually have that recycled look and feel to it, but I’m glad that I didn’t log on to ipsy to see it first as I wouldn’t have liked it as much I think.

Overall, one of the best to date! I’m kinda scared now that next month’s bag will be a disappointment since I’m not quite sure how this month’s bag can be topped. But we’ll see I guess!
