ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

Ho, ho, ho! How are y’all doing with your holiday shopping? I hope you all find what you’re looking for with ease. I got this in a few days ago but didn’t get around to posting until now. Here’s what I got in my ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy December 2018 Glam Bag

I actually like the bag for this month eve though I feel overall it’s a little flimsy. It’s perfect for the holiday season and I do love shiny things. First item that caught my eye is the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I am familiar with this brand and I’ve been running low on eye creams so this is a good one for me to try soon. Next we have the Lottie London AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. Some other ipsters got Mocha. Then we have the F.A.R.A.H Brushes Tapered Blending Brush 35E. I have to retake the quiz again as I keep getting these makeup brushes when I have no use for them since I already have enough. The good news is my niece will benefit from this predicament as she’s really into makeup now, so I tossed this into a makeup bag filled with makeup extra goodies for her. Next up is the Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Primer. I don’t use makeup primers much but have been stashing some over the years to test with to compare quality and effectiveness. Then we have The Beauty Crop Lip Brulee. The shade everyone got is called Rhubarb Custard. I thought this has a matte velvet finish but I looked it up and saw that it actually has a shine to it. Still, it looks like more of a lip stain than a lip gloss to me. Last up is the Hey Honey Relax! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream. It says it’s good for sensitive skin so I anticipate no problems when trying this out as soon as I run out of my current facial moisturizer.

I liked most of what I got so here’s to hoping the bags in 2019 will keep up this trend!

ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I’ve skipped posting on the last few ipsy Glam Bags because primarily I had a lot of things going on in my life but also there wasn’t too much that wowed me the past few months. In fact, if I had remembered in time I would’ve canceled my automatic yearly renewal. Oh well, I have another year of it and I hope that it will be fairly good since I canceled after so many years. Here’s what I got in my ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag

I like the material of the bag this month. It’s a material that will repel drops of water when it comes in contact. I tend to like bags like that the most. First item that caught my eye is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush. I love this brand and own a decent amount of products from them. The shade I got this in is called Quirky. Next item that caught my eye is the Skyn Iceland Brightening Eye Serum. I’m running low on what I use for the delicate eye area so I’m glad to have gotten this in my bag this month. Then we have the Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint. This is a K-beauty brand that is new-to-me but surprisingly relatively accessible since apparently CVS carries it?! The shade I got is called #9 Love Sniper Red. I was about to pass on this but I looked at some ipsy reviews and (at the time I read it) it’s overwhelmingly positive so I thought I’ll give it a go. Next is another item I’m eagerly looking forward to trying it out. Another K-beauty brand? Their roots are with K-beauty though it seems. The Botanic Farm Avocado Honey Rich Water Balm Cream looks like it would be great for the winter months and we’re definitely getting winter weather here right now. Last up is the Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara. I *might* actually keep this as I haven’t tried a new mascara lately and I am itching to.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush

Skyn Iceland Brightening Eye Serum

Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint

Botanic Farm Avocado Honey Rich Water Balm Cream

Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara

This might be the first time I actually liked every single item I got including the makeup bag. Wow! I know this trend will probably not stay but a girl can hope, right? I’m very eager to try these out and post my reviews on them at a later point.

Maybelline Super Stay 24® Lip Color

Hey guys! I’ve been itching to write this post ever since the first day I put it to the test but I needed to use it for at least a few days for a full, comprehensive review. Today’s post is on something I got from my latest Influenster Vox Box. Here’s Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lip Color.

Influenster Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lip Color VoxBox

The Influenster insert states the following about the product:

Meet the wonder that stretches the limits of longwear lip color, SuperStay 24® Lip Color. This longwear lip color won’t cake, dry, flake or fade thanks to our unique Microflex technology that leaves lips feeling fresh through 24 hours of wear.

HOW TO USE/APPLY
Step 1. Apply liquid lip color to clean, bare lips.
Step 2. Allow two minutes to dry, then apply the ultra-conditioning balm to seal in moisture.
Step 3. Reapply balm as needed.
Step 4. Remove with an oil-based makeup remover.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lip Color

What I love about this product? I followed the instructions carefully the first time using the shade Constant Toast 136. First off, this shade does not work on me. I don’t actually know how it would work on anyone else. I’ve tried it a few times, applying it thin and applying it thicker, but the shade always ends up looking streaky or patchy. I gave up on it after a few tries. But what testing that shade did tell me is that it is long-lasting. I moved on to the bold red shade called Keep Up The Flame 025. I LOVE this shade and it actually looks decent on me. This shade is opaque and it applied beautifully compared to Constant Toast 136. I got lots of compliments on it when I wore it to work. My most recent work day of testing it basically lasted me for 11 hours before it started to flake off obviously. I didn’t really care if it did at that point as the work day is way over and it survived through 2 full meals (where I did have food with a decent amount of oil content) on top of constantly drinking water the entire time and some afternoon snacks. I didn’t reapply the color at all, just used the balm whenever I felt that it needed some moisture. The lip color is basically like a stain and it looks matte to me before initial application of the balm to seal in moisture. At the end of the work day, around hour 9, I can see some wear on the inner part of my lips mostly. That is where I would expect it to be with my constant water intake and having 2 full meals on top of some light snacking. I even tested this through a full shower by chance on another day. I put in on about an hour before I needed to hop into the shower and while I didn’t scrub my lips, I did wash my face with a facial scrub. I came out of the shower with it looking just as good and vibrant as I did when I stepped in. For removal, easy peasy with an oil-based makeup remover.

What I don’t like about this product? Aside from the shade Constant Toast 136, maybe the claim that it lasts for 24 hours. I put this claim to the test over the course of 2 weekends and the lip color did not last anything close to 24 hours. I got through 12 hours where some really obvious wear was starting to show but I don’t see this lasting for 24 hours at all. It was all but gone by 17 hours. Also, they should consider portioning the lip balm part more and the lip color less or sell a full stick of the lip balm by itself as you will run out of the balm before the lip color.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried at other retailers too both online and in-store.

*Products featured here are received complimentary to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program.* #SuperStay24

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick

Hey guys! Today’s post is on something I got from my ipsy March 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s my take on the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick.

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick

What I love about this product? I’ve been testing this for a few days now. This is the first lip product that’s not a lip balm from ipsy that I opened immediately after taking product shots for the blog. It comes in a tube packaging with the soft foam-tip applicator. The first thing I noticed is the texture. The best way I can describe it is it’s “cushion-y”. It applied so smoothly and nicely like a dream. It makes me think of a soft, cushion feeling. It feels like a soft, buttery cream being spread lovingly on my lips. It is very pigmented and the shade I got is a red called Kitten Heels. It’s bold and I love it. It dries matte but not as matte as most matte lipsticks. It is a little bit drying but not quite compared to other matte lipsticks I’ve tried so far. So far, it sounds like the best matte lipstick I’ve ever tried, eh? I will say yes. But (and a big BUT) I don’t own a huge collection of matte lip colors because most of them are drying and I avoid that. So…this means that my opinion is definitely something that you should treat as a tiny voice among many other louder ones — especially popular beauty bloggers. They have gone through probably 100 times more matte lip products than I have. I’m impressed with the lasting power too. It stayed through eating and drinking. The color does fade off over time but it’s more like a lip stain really. It’s still very pigmented on my lips and stays on pretty well. Make no mistake though — color does come off when my lips are rubbed up against other things such as a tissue paper. The color on my lips though remains but it’s just a tad lighter maybe.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really. It’s the least drying matte lipstick I’ve ever tried so I can’t wait to get more!

More information on this item and other products from this brand is available on their website. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, ULTA, and Walmart.

ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag

Hey guys! This month’s been crazy so far and that’s why my posts have been sporadic. But today’s post is on the latest I have from ipsy. I think I got this in on Friday — the day we got caught in a bad hailstorm. The car is sad with tons of hail damage but my husband and I came out okay. We were bracing for the windows to break but it didn’t (that’s how bad it was). Anyway, here’s what I got in my ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag.

ipsy May 2015 Glam Bag

I liked the print on this month’s bag. I thought it was cute! I’ve been using a few of my ipsy bags lately and I can see this in my regular rotation. The first thing that caught my eye is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil. The shade I got is Ozone, which looks like it will apply on clear to me. I can’t wait to test this out and see how it stacks against others I have. Next item I see is the CoTZ FACE. Formulation I got is in Natural SPF 40. It’s summer time and I usually up the SPF on what I use on my face. This will be tested thoroughly in the next few weeks so watch out for a post on it! Then we have BelláPierre Cosmetics Waterproof Mineral Gel Eyeliner Pencil. I think I’ll be passing on this one to someone else although I am intrigued as it’s a gel liner. I love the look and effect gel liners give but there’s usually a problem with them in my experience (either they dry out or just aren’t that great overall after a few uses, with the drying out part contributing to that of course). I will be passing on the Luxie Beauty Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 as well as I have too many makeup brushes already and I usually use 0 on a weekly basis. Last item is the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Body Lotion. I am very interested in trying this out as I want to see just how effective it really is.

Overall, this turned out better than last month and I’m excited now about the next one!

ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag

Hey guys! This month’s ipsy came when I was away on my honeymooniversary trip. I saw some people I follow post their ipsy for this month and they look good! I was hoping mine was just as good too. Here’s what I got in my ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag.

ipsy April 2015 Glam Bag

This month’s ipsy bag showed some promise but in the end, I’ll be passing most of the items on to someone else that can give it more love than I am willing to give. I just have too much makeup at this point for someone that doesn’t use makeup at all. Let’s start first with the bag. It’s a cute summery basket weave type of material. It’s pretty and I’m debating on keeping it. First item that caught my eye is the Hey Honey Good Morning – Honey Silk Facial Serum. The word honey in a beauty product just has a positive spin to me. I’m eager to try this out and am hoping the scent will be good. Next is the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint. I typically don’t like combo type of beauty products like this as I like different formulas for my cheeks and my lips. Products with the same type of formula for those will typically be okay for my cheeks but too dry for my lips or very heavy (even greasy) for my cheeks and perfect for my lips. This is a pass for me. The packaging is pretty though. Then we have JulieG Nail Color in the shade Damsel. I own too many nail polishes at this point for me to start with this brand. I’ve used this brand before and thought it was only okay. The color isn’t one I gravitate to immediately so I’ll be passing this on to someone else. The theBalm NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single I got is in the shade Flirty. I recently reviewed the theBalm NUDE ‘tude® Nude Eyeshadow Palette and the formula is pretty good overall. I expect this to be almost the same. The packaging is quite creative and fun as well. Last item is the Gállány Cosmetics Lipstick. The shade I got is Petal. It’s a very “safe” kind of color in my opinion. The sleek packaging looks nice and sophisticated. Not sure if I’m keeping it as I have too many lip products already.

Overall, I was excited at first but then when I went through what each product is and if I can use it….meh. It’s only okay in the end. Better luck next month?

ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag

Happy Friday! I’m so glad it’s the weekend already! I got my ipsy May Glam Bag 2 or 3 days ago, but recent things such as work, dishes with long prep time and a new car purchase with my husband took up a lot of my time. I finally got the chance to take pictures yesterday while I was reheating my turkey lasagna (which my husband ended up liking a lot — YAY!). Here’s everything from my ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy May 2014 Glam Bag

I liked every single thing I got with this month’s Glam Bag. The only thing I think I’m passing on is the Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo. I just have too many eye shadows right now, but I’m sure I’ll either include this in a future giveaway or add it to my ever-growing pile of small gifts I like to hand out to my husband’s nieces. Mine came intact but I have seen some mention that theirs came broken up during shipping. The one I got is Duo #1 (Celestial & Opal). These shades look perfect for maybe even using it as a highlighter in some instances. I have the Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50 on my bathroom counter right now, but opted not to use it just yet. I’ll put it to the test this weekend since I’ll be out in the sun for a decent amount of time. I’m glad to get this item as it’s perfect for summer. The item I loved getting the most in this month’s offering is the Revlon ColorBurst™ Matte Balm in Elusive. I own 2 shades before this one, Striking and Standout. I wanted to get Elusive, Shameless, Sultry, Unapologetic and Audacious at the very least. I was so glad that I got this in a shade I don’t own yet. Saves me a trip and purchase! The first thing I ended up trying is the derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub. Holy cow! My main tip for those that haven’t used it yet is to go gentle and slow at first to gauge how much pressure to use on your face with this. I personally loved this but can easily see that it might be too abrasive for those with sensitive skin. I started off not thinking much about it and realized that I need to go slow cause I was being too rough with it on my face. After I got the hang of the right pressure I’m comfortable with when massaging it on my face, it was heaven. I can almost say 100% that I will repurchase this item. Lastly, the Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask is an item that immediately ended up in my shower. I used it this morning and so far — pretty good! It will take more testing for me to give a thorough review later on in another blog post. I thought this month’s makeup bag is cool, but it definitely looked better on the ipsy site. I didn’t think it actually have that recycled look and feel to it, but I’m glad that I didn’t log on to ipsy to see it first as I wouldn’t have liked it as much I think.

Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo

Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50

Revlon ColorBurst™ Matte Balm

derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub

Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask

Overall, one of the best to date! I’m kinda scared now that next month’s bag will be a disappointment since I’m not quite sure how this month’s bag can be topped. But we’ll see I guess!

Wedding Treats Suggestions

So….I figured I’d put together a Wedding Treats Suggestions post being that the day is drawing near. I wondered about what pretty and pampering stuff a bride-to-be would enjoy. I shopped my stash on what I already own and what was sent to me for ideas. This is only a small part of what I can think of now for a bride-to-be, so get creative and think of what you would enjoy if you were in my place!

Wedding Treats Suggestions

Wedding Treats Suggestions (lighting changed)

I bet you can spot some items from LUSH, Zoya, Revlon and Ciate in the shots above. LUSH has always been a luxury homemade brand to me. I’ve used several of their items before (reviewed a few here) and while I find them to lean towards the pricey side for bath and body products, there are a few things I am more than willing to plunk down my hard earned cash on from that store. With that said, you can’t go wrong with LUSH items for a bride-to-be most of the time. Spotted in the picture from LUSH are Sex Bomb bath bomb, Tender Is The Night massage bar and Flying Fox shower gel. Oh yes….LUSH can get down with sexy. The first bath bomb I ever purchased from them is actually Sex Bomb. I love how it looks and smells. As with most of their bath bombs, you can choose to drop the entire thing for a relaxing bath or use half of it now and save the other half for later. Their Tender Is The Night massage bar smells so good and contains a lot of great ingredients such as murumuru butter and shea butter. Everything about this item exudes sexiness. The Flying Fox shower gel looks innocent enough, but it is a sensual explosion of fragrance in your shower. Jasmine? Check. Ylang ylang? Check. Honey? HONEY?! Check all the way. LUSH definitely has a way of making your bath and body experience feel luxurious from start to finish of product use.

One might also know that a lot of brides have given much thought to what their wedding nails would look like. And not just the hands, the feet as well! I threw in 3 of the latest nail polish shades from Zoya that I thought would be a good option for wedding nails. Their Magical Pixie Collection is light enough to use for a wedding mani (you can go bold and dark, but the look I’m going for is light and easy). I threw in the Ciate ones as they are embellishments that I’ve seen in some magazines and online for wedding nail art. I’m personally not going to do any nail art for my wedding mani, but these look like something some brides may want to work with for theirs. They look fun, but not quite for me on my wedding day. I still think I’m going to use a holo shade. Maybe light pink or beige.

I threw in a couple of lip products that are easy to use and can make a girl feel sexy with barely an effort at all. Most makeup addicts know all about the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms. They are very pigmented and last a decent amount of time. I chose the bold and sultry colors of Striking and Standout. I intend to pick up at least 3 more of these later on. They go on very nicely on the lips and I always feel good wearing them. Also in the picture is a similar type of product for a cheaper price point — Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain. The shades shown are Tropical Frenzy and Candied Coral. These ones aren’t matte, but I find them to be quite pigmented and they last pretty long as well. If I had to choose between these lip products, I’d go with the Revlon one. There’s something about a bold matte color that’s very sexy. When thinking more about the bridal look, the matte shades might be too bold. The Jordana ones are probably a better option for just a light sheen of moisturizing color on the lips.

Last item in the picture is one of my favorite scents. I stumbled upon Versace Bright Crystal by accident. I was on a beauty swap on the purse forum I belong to and was gifted one of those fragrance sampler kits from Sephora. It comes with 12 sample vials of different perfumes and a voucher to redeem for a full-sized bottle of what you like most among the 12. Versace Bright Crystal was the one for me. The scent is so beautiful, light, sexy, and sophisticated.

Wedding Treats Suggestions (close-up)

I can think of other things to include but these are the ones that caught my eye immediately and I know that these would get me feeling just a little bit sexier in no time. What are other things you can think of that will fit into this category? I know that I’d enjoy getting these things as a bride-to-be. I’d love to use these to pamper myself just a little bit whether it’s before or after the big day!

Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color

Hey guys! Milani’s been on a roll with their lip products for the past few years. This year is no exception. I took my time giving each line of theirs a fair review and here’s my take on the Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color.

Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color

Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color (shot to show shade names)

These are described as:

  • Infused with pure pigments for a shockingly intense full tip color
  • Application of a gloss with the longevity of a lipstick
  • Lightweight, full coverage formula
  • Made in Italy

The product packaging wasn’t my favorite, but how it performs amazed me. This type of packaging makes me think of leaves, so I’ll call it leaf tubes from now on. It has a sponge tip applicator to spread the super pigmented formula onto the lips. Initially, I thought this was going to be a wet mess because of the formula. It’s more viscous than most lip glosses without any tackiness. But no! When applied evenly, it’s perfect. It sits nicely on the lips giving me no fear of dripping or anything like that. I found that I didn’t need to dip into the tube again for more product during application. Once is enough. It’s almost like a stain really. The staying power is very impressive for what the product is. It lasted through light snacking and sips of water with minimal wear. Gloss effect is high and the colors are bold and bright. Scent is a little similar to a lot of the other Milani lip products, but not the same. There seems to be a hint of vanilla, but that’s where the similarity ends. One thing I strongly encourage is to use this with a lip liner. In my experience, you will have some feathering after a while. This is available in 4 different shades and I have 3 on hand to show you swatches. For each shade, I applied it with the sponge tip applicator it comes with evenly on my arm. I applied it just like I would on my lips.

These retail for $6.49 each and should now be available in retail stores where Milani is sold. Otherwise, try nabbing it online on their website.

Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain

Hey guys! I’ve been chugging through all of the other Milani’s new offerings for 2014 and here’s the one that surprised me the most. Here’s Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain.

Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain

Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain (shot to show shade names)

These are described as:

  • New non-drying formula
  • Long lasting shine, stain & color coverage
  • Easy to use twist pen with brush applicator
  • Non-feathering
  • Made in USA

I wasn’t excited about this product at first glance, but this blew all my expectations away. The unassuming simple packaging disguised such a powerful product that packs a lot of punch to bring color to your lips. To use, you have to twist on the base until product is visible in the brush tip applicator. The lip brush is initially stiff, but it will soften up with the initial use.

Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain Brush Tip

Pigmentation is superb for these bold lip glosses and formula is very pleasant to apply with almost no stickiness at all. This is much pigmented than their other new offering Milani Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss, as it should be based on the “stain” in the name. It lasts all day — even through light snacking and sips of water! Color me impressed! This definitely lives up to being called a gloss stain (lip stain with the gloss). Gloss effect is high, but not overly done. Scent is similar to a lot of the other Milani lip products, like buttery vanilla. The finish for all shades vary from cream to shimmer mostly. No surprise here, my favorite would be the shimmery ones. BUT! I am very impressed with the cream shades mostly because of how opaque and pretty the shades are. This is available in 8 different shades and I have 4 on hand to show you swatches. For each shade, I globbed it on in the first picture since I was twisting each tube to get the product out and wanted to show what the product looks like in its pure form. The second picture shows more or less what to expect with a normal application of the product with 2 gentle strokes. This is how much product I usually apply with lip glosses.

ipsy February 2014 Glam Bag

Hey guys! If you’ve been following my ipsy Glam Bag posts, you would’ve noticed that things have been going relatively well for me in terms of what I’m getting with mine for the past fwe months. Well, I knew this would happen eventually so here’s my take on my ipsy February 2014 Glam Bag.

ipsy February 2014 Glam Bag

This is the worst ipsy Glam Bag I have received to date. But all is not lost. I did like and will be keeping one thing out of the 5 I got. First up is POP Beauty Plump Pout. It’s basically a glossy stain with lip-plumping goodness packed in the tube. I got this shade in Peony Petal and if this were a bolder shade (like the other shade that I didn’t end up getting, some fuchsia one) I may have entertained the thought of keeping it. But I have too many opened lip products already anyway that this will just go into my gifting or giveaway pile. Next item I got is the only one I’m keeping. First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay. While my makeup arsenal is overflowing, the same can’t be said for my skincare pile. I have a few of each type of item I rotate through on a regular basis, but I typically don’t like to start something new until something else is used up. This is why I was so excited to have gotten this item. It’s something new and shiny that I can have fun with trying it out. It is supposedly safe for sensitive skin so it would suit most if not all. The next item I pulled out is the City Color Be Matte Blush. I received this in the shade Fresh Melon. While I was intrigued by it, I have at least 3 new blushes to try out and incorporate in my makeup pile from the very awesome CVS beauty clearance event that ended not too long ago. I liked those more than this, so this goes to my gifting or giveaway pile as well. I was excited when I saw the shade in the clear tube. It make me think of rose gold for some reason. But alas, it is not. The shade I got this in is called Ambrosia. This is an eye shadow base — something I don’t use at all so off to the same pile it goes. Last item from my ipsy Glam Bag is Zoya Odette. I already own this shade, so you probably know where this is going. So yeah, not a great bag for me this month but I figured it would happen sooner or later. I don’t regret signing up for an entire year still cause most of the bags I’ve received from the past ranged from very good to superb. I didn’t care for this months makeup bag either though. Some of the ones I got in the past really wowed me, but this is just a plain coral pink one.

Better luck next month?

N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492

Lip stains are like a mystery to me. I’ve only ever used a handful in my lifetime so far. The appeal stumps me due to my past experiences with them. So you can understand when I tell you that I wasn’t too excited to try out and review N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492. But it isn’t all that bad after all! Read on to see what I have to say about it.

N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492

This is described as the following on their website:

“NYC New York Color Smooch Proof 16HR Lip Stain stays put, providing a sheer to intense flush of color that sticks around longer than most guys in the City. This is no on-again, off-again relationship. Color stays faithful for up to 16 hours. Looking for happily ever after for a very happy price? Let your lips do the charming!”

Swatches shown below is one swipe on the left and 2 swipes on the right.

N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492 Swatches (in shade)

N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492 Swatches (direct sunlight)

N.Y.C. Smooch Proof 16H Lip Stain Never Ending Nude 492 Swatches (with flash)

Verdict? The shade I got is Never Ending Nude. This is no different than other lip stains I’ve used in the past. The color is definitely buildable, as seen in my swatches. One layer of application on my lips leave a light tint of brown. The second layer shows up even more pigmented than I though it would. To be honest, this shade isn’t the best against my skin tone and I ended up looking like I’m going goth. But it does work. It leaves a nice stain that holds up through an entire meal even if a lot of the color does get rubbed off. There is some product fading, but that’s to be expected even for a stain. In the very end, it does pulls through representing what lip stains are supposed to be like. Lipsticks would’ve worn off by now unless it’s a super good one. So this definitely works as a lip stain. As for the 16 hour claim…..well, it does say “up to” 16 hours and not “will last for” 16 hours. With minimal disturbance in the lip area, I would say their claim of that does hold with some wear. Formula is definitely light and it dries matte. It leaves my lips slightly dry, but I get used to it after a while. I’m just a fan of moisturizing lip products really. I’m not a huge fan of the smell, but it’s tolerable. The felt tip allows fine precision during application. In conclusion, I’d snag this in a berry shade probably since I like it enough for the affordable price tag of about $4.99. I’m just not impressed enough to grab one of each shade they have available.

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain

Hey guys! Time sure is flying by this week. I’ll be away for work next week and I’ll try to schedule a post or 2 at least so it won’t be dead here. Today’s post is on a new item from Jordana. Here’s my take on Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain.

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain (pretty shades)

These are described as:

  • Moisturizing Balm Infused with a Light-Weight Stain
  • Applies with a Glossy Finish then Transforms into the Perfect Flush of Color
  • Long-Lasting
  • Retractable, No Sharpening Required
  • Paraben-Free
  • Made in USA

These are very easy to use and is available in 8 shades. Today, I have 3 as shown in the pictures. It’s a little but chunky in terms of packaging, but not much more than a regular lipstick really. If you need more product, just twist the bottom end to the right. The formula is very smooth and rich. It is very pigmented and it glided easily onto my lips. It might require a bit of warming up though during the winter months, but that’s expected really with cosmetics like this. It has a very light fruity smell and it lasts for hours on my lips; fading only with normal wear due to time and taking sips of water. Shown in shots are the following shades from left to right: Tropical Frenzy, Candied Coral, and Honey Love. For each shade, I applied 2 light strokes of the lip balm stain on to show what it looks like clearly. You have control of how opaque you want the shade to be on your lips.

These retail for $2.99 each. I’d gladly pay that price for the shades I like. I’m looking to get Sweet Pink and maybe Rock N Rouge to add to my stash. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned before that Jordana is also available at KMart.
