Hey guys! 2016 is almost here! Are you setting any goals for yourselves next year? I used to do that but I find it not enjoyable at all, so instead I just strive to do better overall and take life one day at a time. Today’s post is on an item I got from the Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box. Here’s Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream.
What I love about this product? The gel formula barely has any scent at all, which is great for people who are more sensitive to that such like my husband. I took this with me on our trip to Vegas in September. When a few areas on his face was starting to dry out, I handed him this. It certainly does the trick in moisturizing well. I heard no complaints from him at all about it during the entire trip. I gave him this one to use over the Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion as that one had more of a scent than the Neutrogena one. It absorbs really fast into the skin with no oily residue at all. It’s like a drink of water for your skin — literally!
What I don’t like about this product? If I have to be picky, the price. But I won’t hesitate picking this up when it goes on sale or if it’s a good deal with coupons.
More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by drugstores and mass retailers such as CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.
Hey guys! I was very surprised how fast I got this month’s bag. It was in the mailbox yesterday when my husband checked. Here’s what I got in my ipsy October 2015 Glam Bag.
First off, while I’m not in love with the bag….I still like it. I love the fact that it’s gold. The other side is in black patent. First item that caught my eye is the Emité Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer. I’ve been due for a new one so this might be a good contender. Next up is Nourish Organic Pure Hydrating Argan Face Serum. I’ve used a product from this brand before so I’m open to trying this one out. I hope the scent isn’t the same as even though the product I did try said it’s unscented….the scent made me gag slightly. Then we have the AURORA Gel Effect Nail Polish. The shade everyone who got this is their bag is Inky Dinky. I’m not sure if I’m keeping this yet but I may just to compare how it fares to other brands. Next is the Beauty Without Cruelty Fragrance Free Hand and Body Lotion. Last thing I need right now is more hand and body lotion since I have a ton from Bath & Body Works. I’ll probably have this as an additional gift to someone eventually. Last item is theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick. The shade that everyone who got this item in their bag is Committed.
Overall, I’m most excited about the item from theBalm and I actually laughed at the name of the product (they’re pretty good and cute at naming their stuff!).
Hey guys! I got this in the mailbox when I was away on a short trip so I was wary about it since it was mildy hot here but everything seems to be okay. Here’s what I got in my ipsy September 2015 Glam Bag.
First off, the bag. I actually love it! I’m very excited since I really liked last month’s bag as well. Before that it was a series of pretty much mehs for me. First item that caught my eye is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream. I *think* I have this somewhere stashed from some Thanksgiving sale last year but I never got around to using it. Now I will have a travel sized one to use! This will ensure I actually get to try the product sooner. Next up is Formula X Nail Color. The shade I got is called Ignite. I have too many polishes to go through at the moment so I might just pass this on as a stocking stuffer to one of my nieces later on. Then we have the NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio. It looks to be a pretty nice trio and the colors seem like it will work for most eye colors. Next is tre’StiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon. I have too many lip items so off to the stocking stuffer stash it goes. Last item is the ACURE Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. Being that this is unscented, I’m keeping this baby for use when my husband and I go on one of our hikes.
Overall, the products are not bad but I do love the bag more. I was going to cancel but the auto-renewal kicked in and at the moment I’m okay with that. Haha, let’s see if I still feel that way next month (I hope so!).
Hey guys! It’s almost the end of the week once again. I look forward to getting more chores done and then catching up on some movies before the new week begins. I got the chance to use this most of the time for the past 2 – 3 months. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer.
This moisturizer comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. This is described on their website with the following: “Beautifully sheer, greaseless facial cream moisturizer that’s also a beautifully effective SPF #25 protection against sun’s damaging rays, wind, heat or cold. When you are outdoors, although you are not sun bathing, your skin still needs protection. But the usual suntan cream is either too heavy or it’s not a beautifying moisturizer. So, here’s a superb moisturizer that softens, makes skin look dewy fresh, leaves no oily residue and has a special sunscreen. Ideal daily use for the outdoor type, male or female. Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer provides many hours of protection.”
The back of the tub states the following directions: “Use daily — even when not sunbathing, apply 15 minutes prior to sun exposure.”
What I love about this product? It’s a very light formula with barely any scent. The product is white in color and not greasy at all. The 1.5 oz / 42 g container will last a long time for me as I only use it during the day. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my face right after I shower every morning. It absorbs quickly into the skin to keep it moisturized all day long. I don’t feel it on my face at all, which is one of the most important thing to me in a face cream or moisturizer.
What I don’t like about this product? My usual complaint on reviews is the pricing being on the high side but this time it’s the SPF. SPF 25 is the bare minimum for a face moisturizer in my regular skincare regimen for sun protection. I hope they’re looking into making the same product but upping the SPF protection. I’d definitely buy it again when they do that.
This item retails for about $13 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Happy 4th of July to my readers in the US! I hope you’re all having a good time this weekend. Today’s post is a scheduled one as I am spending time with my cousins in Philly for this short holiday. Here’s another segment of Curtain Call and this time it’s on take on the Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream.
This face cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. I threw away the box already so we’ll just go with the description on the website:
“Reviva Labs now offers a new answer to helping firm, tighten and “lift” skin with DMAE…as Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C Ester fight free radicals and future skin aging. As a special Reviva boost, this dramatic trio is encased in a soy liposome for deeper, time release action during the night. Allantoin and Aloe Vera are added to soothe and calm stressed skin, contributing to a healthy, vibrant glow. For supple, more youthful looking skin, it’s another major advance in the battle against skin aging. Benefits: helps improve skin tone and glow as its powerful antioxidant action fights free-radical damage. As your body rests during the night, you have hours of uninterrupted replenishing nutrients that help tighten and “lift” skin to treat the effects of time as it helps fight future skin aging.”
It is described on the side of the jar with the following:
“Contains the powerful antioxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C Ester, also features DMAE for firming action, this multifaceted formula helps tighten, firm and tone facial skin, as it fights future signs of aging. All 3 key ingredients are blended into a special soy liposome for deeper absorption.
A dramatic nutrient complex, this formula helps skin look younger and helps protect against future skin damage.”
The other side of the jar states the following directions: “Use at night. Apply lightly over entire face & throat. (Massage with upward movements)”
What I love about this product? The formula is extremely light. It goes on smoothly and my skin immediately absorbs it. I didn’t get to fully test this product because of a funny story really. I was about 3 weeks in using this face cream when I spent last Christmas over at my in-laws place. Amidst all the presents and such, I thought I must’ve misplaced the face cream I was using cause I couldn’t find it the day I was leaving. It also crossed my mind that maybe my dog took it. Feeling reassured that I must’ve packed it somewhere with all the stuff we were taking back with us, I left and figured I’d find it at home. Fast forward to 2 months ago. My MIL was telling me that the face cream she got for Christmas was awesome. I gave her a few and asked her which one it was and she sent me a picture of it. I laughed when I saw it cause that’s the missing face cream. And boy, she sang high praises for it that I made sure ULTA carries it and told her that so she could get it once it runs out. She loves how it doesn’t feel greasy on her face and she told me she really felt a difference in it and that it’s just a good face cream overall. She ran out of it last time I saw her which is 2 weeks ago. Using it once a day and lasting for a little over 6 months is impressive. I am sold on this because not only I liked it during the short time I got to use it but my MIL loved it as well. I remember the face cream being unscented and that’s another huge plus in my book. The jar it comes in clearly states “PARABEN FREE”.
What I don’t like about this product? Nothing at all! This is one of my favorite face creams from this brand when taking my short experience and my MIL’s full experience into consideration.
This item retails for about $23 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.
