ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I’ve skipped posting on the last few ipsy Glam Bags because primarily I had a lot of things going on in my life but also there wasn’t too much that wowed me the past few months. In fact, if I had remembered in time I would’ve canceled my automatic yearly renewal. Oh well, I have another year of it and I hope that it will be fairly good since I canceled after so many years. Here’s what I got in my ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag.

ipsy November 2018 Glam Bag

I like the material of the bag this month. It’s a material that will repel drops of water when it comes in contact. I tend to like bags like that the most. First item that caught my eye is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush. I love this brand and own a decent amount of products from them. The shade I got this in is called Quirky. Next item that caught my eye is the Skyn Iceland Brightening Eye Serum. I’m running low on what I use for the delicate eye area so I’m glad to have gotten this in my bag this month. Then we have the Peripera Ink Velvet Lip Tint. This is a K-beauty brand that is new-to-me but surprisingly relatively accessible since apparently CVS carries it?! The shade I got is called #9 Love Sniper Red. I was about to pass on this but I looked at some ipsy reviews and (at the time I read it) it’s overwhelmingly positive so I thought I’ll give it a go. Next is another item I’m eagerly looking forward to trying it out. Another K-beauty brand? Their roots are with K-beauty though it seems. The Botanic Farm Avocado Honey Rich Water Balm Cream looks like it would be great for the winter months and we’re definitely getting winter weather here right now. Last up is the Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara. I *might* actually keep this as I haven’t tried a new mascara lately and I am itching to.

This might be the first time I actually liked every single item I got including the makeup bag. Wow! I know this trend will probably not stay but a girl can hope, right? I’m very eager to try these out and post my reviews on them at a later point.

Curtain Call: 111SKIN Space Defence Bright Eye Gel

Halloween is right around the corner! I have the decorations up already for over a week and I’m getting a few more just in time for the day of. I hope we get more kids this year as last year it was on a Monday. Most have done their trick or treating over the weekend at some neighborhoods that designate the Friday or Saturday for it or even go to places like the mall for it. We got about 10 – 20 kids. That’s nothing compared to 2 years ago when Halloween fell on a Saturday. We had at least 300 kids come by in our cul-de-sac! Anyway, today’s post is another edition of Curtain Call. I got this product from my ipsy July 2017 Glam Bag. Here’s my take on the 111SKIN Space Defence Bright Eye Gel.

111SKIN Space Defence Bright Eye Gel

Stated from their website:

The skin around the eyes is the most sensitive area of the face. This soothing Eye Gel reduces the appearance of dark circles, minimises puffiness and softens the appearance of fine lines while keeping the eye area hydrated.

What I love about this product? Directions to use are pretty straightforward — apply to eye area day and night with a light hand. The packaging is pretty attractive I must say. I am loving the cool and sleek color (is it magenta-sh?) against the silver. The eye gel is translucent in appearance and the consistency is what you would expect from an eye gel. There is a scent to this product…it’s like a baby powder kind of scent is how I can best describe it. It’s not really strong and definitely not noticeable after application. I experienced a warming sensation with every use but it’s not bothersome to me. I kinda take it as “THIS PRODUCT IS WORKING!” Haha! I started using it at the same time I started using the Dr. Lili Fan Probiotic Recovery Cream. This tiny thing lasted about a week and a half longer than that. This is an eye gel and you use less of it obviously but I got a decent amount of use from this tiny bottle.

What I don’t like about this product? Probably the accessibility. This is not readily available in retail stores like Sephora or ULTA.

More information on this item and other products the brand carries is available on their website here.

ipsy July 2017 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I’m so excited about this month’s bag! I get this excited when the bag itself is something I’m in love with. Here’s my take on the ipsy July 2017 Glam Bag.

ipsy July 2017 Glam Bag

Eeeeeeeeeeeee! It’s so freaking cute!!! I’ve always liked Sanrio stuff and some characters more than others. I would be lying if I said I didn’t know who this little guy is. I’ve seen him become quite popular in the last year or so. Now onto the products! First up is 111SKIN Space Defence Bright Eye Gel. Quite a unique product name and I’m curious to see how it performs. Stay tuned in a few months to see what my thoughts are on this. Next up is Trifle Cosmetics Raspberry Ripple Ombré Radiance Blush Palette. The shades look promising and I’m actually tempted to use this but I think I will pass this on to one of my nieces. The theme and packaging are really cute and nice. Then we have the Ciaté Wonderwand Gel-Kohl Hybrid Liner. The shade I got this in is black. This seems to be in the formula that I like most for eyeliners where it’s a pencil but with some moisture to it that you can make sharp lines. Next we have the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. This is good to use for waterproof makeup so I’m quite eager to put it to the test. Last up is Beau Gâchis Illuminator Brush. I made sure I did the review on ipsy for this month as I mentioned before when I retook the quiz that I don’t want any more makeup brushes. The only ones I use (if at all) are big fluffly ones like my IT Cosmetic ones.

Bag aside, I do like most of what I got this month. I already gave myself the expectation that next month’s bag will be nothing compared to this one due to my excitement over Gudetama! Haha!

pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum

Hey guys! I’ve been trying this item for about a month now. I got this from my ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s my take on the pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum.

pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum

What I love about this product? This is the very first eye serum I think I’ve received from ipsy. Being that I have been using the Reviva Labs Eye Gelee Concentrate for a while now, I thought I’d switch it up with this. The product is gel like in texture and translucent in color. It kinds reminds me of how Neosporin looks like. There is no detectable smell to me at all and it comes in a small squeeze tube with a pointed funneled tip. I find that I like this type of product packaging for products I apply to the under eye area as it gives me more control on how much product comes out of the tube. A little goes a long way with this. It goes on smoothly and skin in that area absorbed it pretty well (and quickly too at that).

What I don’t like about this product? There is a shimmer that I noticed in using this. I guess it helps brighten up the under eye area a bit but while I may not mind it really (it’s not that much) I could see it bothering others that prefer not to have any shimmer at all on any part of their face (which is understandable). The other thing is I don’t really see any difference in using this product so if there are any positive effects with this it’s just too small for me to notice. I have been using this for a month or so now and I typically see results from skincare items earlier than this. But like I said, there’s either no added value to this than what I’ve already been using or just minimal difference that it simply working as an under eye serum is enough to expect from this product.

More information on this item is available on their website here. Products from this brand is carried by selected retailers listed here and online retailers like Skinstore.com.

ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag

Hey guys! I’ll try to keep this short as I’m looking at a super busy weekend. Here’s what I got in my ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag.

ipsy January 2016 Glam Bag

I think the bag is very cute! The print makes me think of all things retro and Austin Powers. First item that caught my eye is the Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body Cream. I have received a hand cream of the same brand in a previous glam bag and remembered liking it. I’ll keep this to try out as soon as my current body lotion runs out. Next up is Beau Gâchis Paris Smudge Brush. I don’t wear makeup a lot and already have a lot of makeup brushes so I’ll keep this in my stocking stuffer stash. Then we have theBalm Mr. Write (Now). This eye liner has a catchy name and a built-in sharpener. The shade I got is in Jack B. Bronze, which is a rich bronze. I can’t wait to try this out as I’m curious to how their eye liners are. Next is the pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum. I’m about to switch my eye cream and this seems to be a good one to try out. Last item is the Hikari Cream Metallic Pigment Shadow. The shade I got is called Mink. Eye shadow is one kind of product I have too much of already so I’ll save this for someone else.

Overall, pretty good! I’m looking forward to next month’s bag already.

Reviva Labs Eye Gelee Concentrate

Hey y’all! Today’s blog post is on what I’ve been using for the past few weeks now. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Eye Gelee Concentrate.

Reviva Labs Eye Gelee Concentrate

This eye concentrate (or sometimes I call it a serum) comes in a small glass container with a pump to dispense the product. This is described on their website with the following: “Exceptionally light gelee nourishes the eye area with collagen, herbal extracts, elastin and mucopolysaccharides to combat puffiness. Special herbal extracts help reduce puffiness under eyes – while elastin, collagen & mucopolysaccharides fight dryness light lines. Daytime use is suggested.”

The back of the bottle states the following directions: “Pat in lightly under eyes, from outer eye area to nose.”

What I love about this product? It has no noticeable scent to it and a little goes a long way. The formula of this eye concentrate is light as it is a transparent gel. The 1 oz / 28 g container will last me for at good while as it’s been a few days shy of a month of me using this and I have more than 3/4 of the product left in the bottle. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my under eye and around the outer corner of my eye area nightly as suggested. It gives a slight cooling feeling and absorbs very quickly into the skin. I do think it helps reduce puffiness partially because of the cooling feeling I get from the gel formula. I’ve used it during the day as well but just randomly since the suggested use is for nighttime. I’ve learned to apply gently pressure to the pump bottle to avoid getting excess product. I accidentally got too much product the first 2 times and didn’t want to waste it so I just dabbed all of it on. After a few hours my husband was trying to get something off my face and I looked at the mirror to see a wisp of white strip like a thread of some sort is the best I can describe it. Basically when there’s too much product applied in one area, it will peel off so to speak and it actually looks like peeling skin from when one gets a sunburn. That only happened to me on those 2 days when I applied too much of the product on and I figured out then what it was. One side of the bottle states clearly “No Animal Testing”.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing really. As with all eye products, definitely avoid getting this in your eye. I accidentally did one time and my left eye started watering because of a slight stinging sensation. It goes away after I washed it out though. I still think I prefer the previous 2 eye products I’ve tried from them: Reviva Labs Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum and Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream.

This item retails for about $11 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Reviva Labs Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum

Hey guys! Today’s post is on a detailed review of a product I’ve been using since mid to late March. I was apprehensive about trying it at first because I didn’t think it would work that well. It’s from a brand I’ve never tried before as well, but I’ve heard good things about them and decided to give it a shot. Here’s Reviva Labs Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum.

Reviva Labs Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum

This under eye dark circle serum comes in a small glass container with a pump to dispense the product. This is described with the following: “Here is a breakthrough for severe dark circles. Capillary leakage of hemoglobin, creating red-blue pigment under eyes, is now found to be the cause of dark circles that have stayed with you. New biopeptide/bioflavanoid complex within Reviva’s innovative formula helps eliminate the hemoglobin deposits and discoloration. Reviva’s Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum also relieves puffiness.”

The back of the bottle states the following directions: “Use a.m. under makeup or alone and at bedtime alone or under other eye cream. With a drop or two on fingertips, apply under each eye with gentle tapping motions.”

What I love about this product? It works! Take note that a little goes a long way. The 1 fl oz / 29.5 ml bottle will last me for about a year. My bottle is almost half empty and I’ve had it since March, using the eye serum everyday during morning and night. I went through a rough patch back then when I first started using this and it helped a lot. My under eye dark circles would’ve been worse with the lack of sleep I’ve been having. The clear gel-like serum applies smoothly to my under eye area and feels cool on my skin. Another note to make here is to apply gentle pressure on the pump to dispense product onto fingertips. I made the mistake of pumping vigorously the first time to get product out and ended up with a lot of it on my fingertips.

What I don’t like about this product? None really. For the price, this is a good buy for the results you’re getting. It’s not a miracle product that will get rid of the dark circles completely overnight, but it certainly improves it over time with regular use. It works just as well as other more expensive options out there. I’m definitely buying this product when I run out.

This item retails for about $29 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.

Hard Candy Eye’m Tired

Hey guys! I’ve been through a rough patch for a little over a month now, but trust me….things get better always and they have for me. Sometimes we get a little help along the way though, just like with this new product from Hard Candy. I’ve gotten the chance to try this out for review and it fared pretty well. Here’s Hard Candy Eye’m Tired.

Hard Candy Eye’m Tired

This depuffing eye serum comes with a massaging trio rollerball to spread the formula over the undereye area. It claims to de-puff, brighten and firms the sensitive eye area. The back of the box states the following: “Lightweight depuffing eye serum cools and calms tired eyes. Gently roll under eyes for instant rejuvenation & de puff those bags! Trio rollerball massages away bags as it refreshes the eye area.”

What I love about this product? It actually works. Just like I have mentioned before and earlier in this post, I’ve been going through some stuff in my life recently and let’s just say that I’ve had some days where you can tell I’ve cried the night before. I had this on hand and figured it’s worth a shot. Worst that could happen is that it makes no difference at all. But to my surprise, it actually does help a little bit. It actually makes my eye area look less puffy after applying it for a bit. It’s not a miracle worker, some people can still tell that I’ve had a rough night but it doesn’t look like I’ve cried a river. It’s easy to use and carry too.

What I don’t like about this product? None really. For the price, this is a good buy for the results you’re getting. It’s not a miracle product that will get rid of all puffiness, but it’s good for a quick slight fix.

This item retails for about $5 is available exclusively at Walmart.
