The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream

Hey y’all! Today’s post is on a product I got from my ipsy February 2016 Glam Bag. Here’s my thoughts on the The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream.

The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream

Verdict? No beuno both as a lip and eye cream for me. As a lip cream, I didn’t like the scent or feel of it on my lips. It feels like a slightly thick, waxy layer coating my lips. I think that’s the perfect word to describe what I feel on my lips with this — “coated on”. The feeling does subside eventually but it’s so undesirable to me that I didn’t want to use it on my lips after a few tries. The scent isn’t appealing to me as a lip cream either. As an eye cream, it fared slightly better but not by a lot. The formula is white in color and is quite tacky in consistency compared to other eye creams I’ve used in the past. I was apprehensive to apply this on my eye area, especially the under eye area. It does seem to help the area I applied to plump up more slightly after a week’s use so far, but here’s what works best for me — either applying it to the eye area with a lot of tapping motions to thin it out over that area or thinning the cream out with something else suitable for under eye application. The skin around the eyes is quite delicate and this would prevent the tugging I experienced the first time when using this in that area. Scent does not bother me as an eye cream. Taking all this into consideration and the price it goes for, I won’t be purchasing this after I run out unless there’s a good sale or deal going on.

ipsy February 2017 Glam Bag

What a month it’s been! Time sure flies by fast. It felt like the holidays were just here. I got this in earlier but I wasn’t too excited about it so I took my time in posting about it. Here’s my take on the ipsy February 2017 Glam Bag.

The bag is made of denim — not really my cup of tea but seems to be built pretty good even though it’s thin. First item that caught my eye is the NYX Butter Lipstick. The shade I got this in is called Ripe Berry. I LOVE this shade and have high hopes that it translates the same onto my lips. Next up is the True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask. I will be trying this out shortly so stay tuned for a blog post on my thoughts on it. The directions on how to use this seems pretty straightforward: “Massage on dry skin (yep, dry), leave on for two to five minutes, then just wipe off with a damp washcloth (no need to rinse). We like using it twice a week before bedtime.” Then we have Lord & Berry Eye Pencil. The shade I got this in is Black. This is a nice small-sized eye pencil that I can take with me even when I’m only carrying the bare minimum. I can’t wait to try this out! Next we have MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow. The shade I got this in is called You’re Toast. It looks to be a pretty gold shade. Last up is The Organic Pharmacy Lip & Eye Cream. This item made me think about it a lot. The skin around the eye and the lips are quite different so I’m having a hard time seeing how a product can effectively affect both areas BUT I’ll try it out and share my thoughts on it here later on.

Overall, eh….I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. I was expecting more out of the makeup bag itself as February is Valentine’s Day but I think they just didn’t go with the Valentine’s theme this time around. That’s cool….I can’t wait to see next month’s bag now! I actually see it on the website right now and it looks so cute and chic!

Target Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Hey guys! I just got this in today and managed to snap pictures of these real quick. I had great luck with my first box with them in 2014 (Target Spring 2014 Beauty Box) and I skipped one I think because the price went up and the contents didn’t really appeal to me (update: Yup, I skipped the Winter one but got the Spring one this year — Target Spring 2015 Beauty Box). As soon as I saw what some of the items were this time around, I just pulled the trigger and got it. This deal is available online only and is sold out. Here’s what I got with mine:

Target Summer 2015 Beauty Box

Everything came in a white reusable sturdy cardboard box. Everyone else I know that got this received the same exact things in it with the exception of the Sinful Colors in terms of color and also the Fekkai item. Some got a dry shampoo or something like that while others got some oil spray or something.

Olay Regenerist Luminous HydraSwirl Eye Cream

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Cream

SinfulColors Professional Nail Color

Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads

Revlon HD Lipstick

The Fekkai is a staple that I come back to every so often so I’ll definitely be keeping that. I’ll give the Olay a go since I’m in an in-between period in trying out stuff in search for a good eye cream. I actually love the Revlon lipstick on first glance. We’ll see if I still love it when I wear it. The Cutex nail remover pads will make a nice addition to my travel toiletries and I might give the nail polish to someone else since I have over a thousand of those. For $7, not bad still and it does come with a $3 off $15 coupon on beauty items to use at Target.

Stick around for some reviews on some of these items at a later date. Were you able to get the box and if so, which is your favorite item?

Curtain Call: Physicians Formula Intensive Wrinkle Corrector Eye Cream

Here’s the second part of a skincare set from Physicians Formula that I’ve used. I got it as part of my Physicians Formula #PFGoBronze Contest Prize a year and a half ago. Here’s my take on the Physicians Formula Intensive Wrinkle Corrector Eye Cream.

At 0.5 fl oz / 14 g, this retails for $19.95 when sold separately. It’s a little bit high but eye creams from trusted brands do fall in this price range. It’s also not something widely offered by drugstore brands. You can get this in a set of 3 though for a cheaper overall price. This product is described as the following:

“Potent cream targets the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the eye area. Moisturizing formula boosts elasticity and firmness to improve the appearance of crow’s feet and puffiness. Illuminating properties improve the appearance of dark circles.”

Physicians Formula Intensive Wrinkle Corrector Eye Cream

Verdict? I started using this around February last year. It ran out last December, just a few days after I ran out of the Wrinkle Corrector & Firming Moisturizer, so that means it lasted me for about 10 months with daily use. That’s not bad really. The packaging is simple and sleek. I use it once in the morning as I’m getting ready for the day and right before I go to bed. I just gently push the pump to get the desired amount onto my fingertip and gently dab it on my under eye area. The product itself is a very pale purple — just like the color of the bottle packaging. It goes on very light and the scent is pleasant as with the day and night moisturizers from the set. It absorbs pretty quick into the skin on that area. As for the wrinkle claims….I don’t really see any difference but I don’t really have any wrinkles there yet. Maybe it will help as a preventative measure? It does the job of an eye cream though.

This product can easily be purchased on their website here or at various retailers such as ULTA, Kmart, Walgreens, and Walmart.

Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream

Hey guys! Happy new Year! Today’s blog post is on an eye cream I’ve been using for the past few weeks now. Here’s my take on the Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream.

Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream

This eye cream comes in a small white screw top plastic tub container. It is described online with the following:

  • Easy to spread
  • Helps diminish under-eye bags
  • Calms puffiness
  • Helps fade wrinkles by gently lifting and firming
  • Helps stimulate circulation and expel wastes which may cause under-eye shadows

It is described on the side of the box and jar with the following:

For Under-Eye Shadows, Bags & Crows Feet.
This delicate eye area cream contains an herbal complex for firming, plant extracts to improve circulation & vegetable oils to aid dryness. It’s light, easily applied and quickly absorbed.”

The back of the jar states the following directions: “Apply with finger in a light tapping movement from outer corner of eye to nose.”

What I love about this product? It has almost no noticeable scent to it and a little goes a long way. The formula of this cream is very light and slightly gel like in appearance, almost clear in color. The 0.75 oz / 21 g container will last me for at good while as it’s been almost 2 months of me using this and I have more than 3/4 of the product left in the jar. It is very easy to apply and I use it on my under eye and around the outer corner of my eye area both day and night daily. It absorbs very quickly into the skin. I’ve suffered a good number of nights where I simply lack sleep. When my fiance’s on his day off, I tend to have a harder time falling and staying asleep. Mix that in with the thoughts of holiday stuff and more recently, wedding stuff. I will say that this definitely helped keep the under eye puffiness at bay. I know they look much worse if I haven’t been using anything to help aid it. I can’t say much about the wrinkle fading part, but this definitely got a thumbs up from me. One side of the box it comes in states clearly “PARABEN FREE”, “No Animal Ingredients” and “No Animal Testing”.

What I don’t like about this product? Nothing other than I still do think their Under-Eye Dark Circle Serum works better for the purpose of eliminating under eye dark circles. But as an eye cream, it does the job perfectly.

This item retails for about $12 and is available on their website as well as on other retailers.
