Snails Nail Polish
Hey guys! Happy Monday! Today I have a few shades from a unique and new-to-me brand called Snails. The name is actually very cute being that it is derived from the words “safe nails”. I was asked if I would be interested to check out their products and here’s my take on their shades.
Cherry Queen is a pretty fuchsia type of pink crème shade. Formula is good and it dried fast. Shown is one coat with no top coat.
Twinkle Dust is an orange shimmer shade that has this almost jelly and glass fleck like property. The look is very mesmerizing….like the shimmer is suspended in jelly almost. The direct sunlight shot would’ve looked better with at least one more coat. Formula is good and it dried fast. Shown is one coat with no top coat.
Love Is … is a very pretty and shiny red crème shade. This shade is just so juicy on its own! Formula is great and dried pretty fast. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.
What I love about this product? I was very apprehensive about the claim that their nail polishes wash away with just soap and water. I know that their target market are basically adults with kids or who purchases items for kids. This certainly seems appealing for those that fall into that category. I know some parents are wary about the chemicals present in various products (nail polish included) and this can provide some peace of mind in that aspect. So I put this to the test and guess what? IT WORKS! I applied it onto my nails and let it dry fully. I proceeded to go about my business and the color stayed on. It only started coming off when my nails came into contact with water. It comes off even faster with some soap. This would’ve been something I would’ve loved to have access to growing up since having nail color isn’t allowed in my school. What better way than to go home and apply a shade from this line and it just washes away by the next day? I get to have the satisfaction of a few hours of sporting vibrant shades on my nails. You can do that too with regular polish, but it’s certainly easier when you can just wash it all off. Another thing I do love about this line is that their formula is really good for what it does. This is coming from the washable nail polish angle. I initially thought it would be a watery formula, but no sir! Application for all shades I tried are a breeze and the colors are vibrant and fun. Perfects for kids and people like me (who are young at heart, lol!). Being the formula is water based and non-toxic I had to step into detail on what it smells like. I have Love Is … on hand right now and it kinda smells like cherries. The scent it light and almost unnoticeable when dry on the nail. This is a huge plus for me since my man’s nose is very sensitive and he can tell from a mile away when I applies nail color onto my nails. Not this time though!
What I don’t like about this product? This is just coming from a personal angle but this product isn’t targeted for consumers like me. Mostly because I am not a mom or mom-to-be. If I am, this is the perfect product I’d be looking for. I’m all for less chemicals and safety, but nail color that comes off after coming into contact with water is just not a concern for me at this point in my life. I did explore the option of applying a top coat over it and it did make the color last just as long as a regular nail polish. I did get some bubbling at the end of day 2 or so, but that could be because the nail color and top coat formulas are different (I used a Sally Hansen top coat). They do offer their own top coat on their website and if that prolongs the nail color (preventing it from being washed away with soap and water) then it’s pretty much the same as regular nail color (but safer). If I had paid more attention to this earlier, I would’ve requested to try this too for another area to tackle on with my review.
