Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara
Hey guys, the last item I’m reviewing from the Influenster Glamour VoxBox by Mary Kay 2013 that I got is the Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara.
The Influenster insert described this product as “LASHlicious! Long. Strong. Seriously separated lashes.” and the catalog that came with my box states “.28 oz. Creates bold, instantly intensified length of lashes. Lifts, curls and perfectly separates lashes. Conditions and strengthens lashes. Nonclumping, flake-free formula wears all day for over 10 hours.” Description on the box are as follows: “Create bold length and exaggerate the look of lashes with this long-wearing, nonflaking formula. New curved, sculpted brush fans lashes from corner to corner, emphasizing even the tiniest lashes with precise definition. Ophthalmologist-tested. Suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes.” This is again great news for me since I do wear contacts during the weekdays and I have found some eye liner and mascara formulas irritate my eye when a little bit comes into contact with my eyes. A little more on the brush from the catalog: “Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara features an innovative brush specifically engineered to precisely apply the formula to each and every little lash with clean definition. The brush works to adhere the formula’s fibers to lashes and then gently extend the fibers beyond the ends of the lashes.”
Verdict? This product comes in the typical twist open tube that’s expected of a tube of mascara. The brush does perform what it claims to do by distributing product evenly from root to tip of my lashes with more precision and ease than I have experienced from all the other mascaras I’ve tried. This product comes in 2 shades, i ♡ brown and i ♡ black. The one that came with my box is i ♡ black. The pigmentation is very good and initially I was wary that it won’t come close to performing as a good mascara. It definitely does lengthen the lashes, but only a little bit. I followed the mascara tip that was cited in the catalog for this product: “Gently wiggle your mascara wand in a back-and-forth motion from root to tip to separate lashes while helping them look longer and thicker. If applying more than one coat of mascara, do one eye at a time to ensure the mascara doesn’t dry between coats.” I have only applied more than one coat of mascara less than a handful of times because there is a tendency to clump. I figured it out with this tip that my error was I move to the other eye after one coat instead of staying with it for the second coat. What happens is that the mascara doesn’t dry completely (but even if it does) and when you try to apply a fresh coat on top of that, clumping occurs. It’s kind of like dragging when it comes to nail polish application. If the first layer isn’t completely dry and you apply a second coat, the fresh coat “drags” the first coat. Letting it dry completely before applying the second coat of lacquer prevents this from happening as it’s basically like applying a first coat all over again. Same thing with mascara except that you can’t let the first coat dry or come close to it since mascara is different from lacquer in terms of the lacquer being a clear, complete seal that can’t flake as easily like mascara. The brush is very easy to use and application is a breeze for me with it. Formula is light even with more than one layer on and the look is evident while bordering subtle. I personally prefer it this way. It gives a more natural look longer lashes. Lasting power is great and there is barely any flaking at all at 10 hours. Overall, this is product is a winner in my book. If you can find another mascara that is cheaper and will deliver the same, go for it! I definitely will revisit some of the mascaras I’ve tried to compare to this keeper.
