OPI DS Sapphire

Today’s post kicks off the “Blue Nails for Autism Awareness” project started by fellow online nail blogger Jasmine. I will be featuring various blue shades every few days throughout the month of April, as April is Autism Awareness month. I chose to kick it off today being that April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Everyone is encouraged to take this month to raise awareness, encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. Sporting blue on my nails is just a small act that I can surely do. Here is OPI’s DS Sapphire.

OPI DS Sapphire

This shade is no longer easily available. The OPI DS line is quite popular, mostly because of its holographic property. This shade is no exception. Even though it shines through so much better in direct sunlight, it’s still quite stunning in shade. A very good friend, whom I fondly refer to as my designer bags and nail polish sister, gave this to me. A beautiful blue holographic shade, this is a sure stunner. Formula is a bit watery, as expected with holographic shades, but it gave me no problems during application. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

OPI DS Sapphire (look at the holo goodness!)

This is one of the handful of shades I have from OPI’s DS line. This is one of those that are holographic too. I’ve read that some of the later released shades aren’t close to or even holographic at all, just shimmery holographic at most.

Stay tuned for more blue shades featured throughout this month for Austism Awareness month.

  3. I found that my Sapphire isn’t super holo 😦

    • It’s definitely more holo under direct light, whether it’s sunlight or artificial light. Just by itself, not really. 😦

  5. I love this shade especially in the shade. Love the holo-effect of this blue color OPI DS collections. Is there a Face Book page for Blue Holo for Autism?

I love the shape of your nails and the way they are the perfect skin tone for this Sapphire Blue. Your web blog is awesome.

    • I know, the holo effect is very evident in any form of direct light. In shade, not really but that’s how most of the holos I’ve encountered are. I have yet to try out GOSH Holographic. That might actually be super holo even in shade.
