Edgy Elegance
OPI Launches the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012
OPI embraces runway trends with the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Drawing inspiration from Berlin, an exciting new fashion hub that blends classic looks with the avant-garde, the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of vibrant color, urban-chic neutrals, and reds in variations from light to dark.
“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”
“The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge,” adds Suzi. “The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize a range of looks for the season.”
Germany by OPI includes the following shades:

OPI Don’t Pretzel My Buttons
A haute honey-beige that can always make you smile.

OPI My Very First Knockwurst
…and what a magical rosy-nude rendezvous it was!

OPI Berlin There Done That

OPI Holland Collection
OPI sure knows how to kick things off next year! Read on.
Color with a Touch of Dutch
OPI Launches Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012
OPI celebrates color with the Holland Collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Inspired by the country’s range of stunning shades – as seen in vivid tulips, windmill-dotted hillsides and bustling canals – the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of sophisticated neutrals and highly-pigmented brights.
“Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral and orange hues that capture this energy. The bright lacquers are married with neutrals in new variations like red clay and sea green.”
A sequence of electric brights, including a sun-lit orange (A Roll in The Hague), a hot coral-red (Red Lights Ahead…Where?) and two perfectly pretty pinks (Kiss Me on My Tulips and a light-catching Pedal Faster Suzi!) complement their cooler counterparts in hues of glistening purple (Dutch ’Ya Just Love OPI? and Vampsterdam), while elegant neutrals (Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Did You ’ear About Van Gogh? and Wooden Shoe Like to Know?) meet two shimmer-laced blues (I Have a Herring Problem and I Don’t Give a Rotterdam!) and a creamy sea green (Thanks a WindMillion).
“Wearing these colors on fingers and toes will accessorize the season’s hottest trends,” remarks Suzi. “The varied palette of colors accentuates the looks that walked the runway, from colored pants and ladylike frocks to long, blousy-sleeved tops and dramatic patterns.”
Holland by OPI includes the following shades:

- OPI A Roll In The Hague
Take advantage of this frisky little orange.

- OPI Red Lights Ahead…Where?
This coral-packed red is the hottest in the district.

- OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips
A smooch-worthy shade of hot pink.

- OPI Pedal Faster Suzi!
This pink lavender shimmer will have you “wheeling.”

- OPI Dutch ’Ya Just Love OPI?
All of Holland hollers for this crowd-pleasing plum.

- OPI Vampsterdam
A deep purple for a divine diva.

- OPI Did You ’ear About Van Gogh?
Rumor has it…this sandy bisque is a work of art.

- OPI Thanks A WindMillion
You totally deserve this breezy sea green.

- OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know?
It’s no secret…everybody loves this shimmery chocolate-brown.

- OPI I Have Herring Problem
What’s that you say? I need to “sea” this shimmery green-blue?

- OPI I Don’t Give A Rotterdam!
This sassy steal-blue shimmer means business!

- OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes

OPI Touring America Swatches
I know most of you guys have seen swatches of these right now, but I finally got around to sifting through all the shots to pick the best ones out to post. I’ll probably end up swatching them again at a later date. I remember swatching these when my cuticles were very raw and tender. There’s a ton of perfect shades in this collection for Fall into Winter and the formula is pretty good for the most part. They’re shown in the order of the press release.
Here’s Are We There Yet?

OPI Are We There Yet?
Are We There Yet? is a coral-y orange shimmer shade. The shimmer is like a light dusting of gold. Very nice.

Next is I Eat Mainely Lobster.

OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster
I love this one. This is a bright coral with very subtle shimmer. I almost want to say it’s fairly visible only under sunlight. If you have a lot of corals though, you probably want to pass on this one.

Here we have one for the West Coast, My Address Is “Hollywood”.

OPI My Address Is "Hollywood"
This is my favorite shade in this entire collection. I’m a sucker for shimmers and red is my favorite color.

Next is Color To Diner For.

OPI Color To Diner For
This is my favorite shade in this entire collection. I’m a sucker for shimmers and red is my favorite color. I have many similar red shades, but it’s hard for me to say no to reds. ‘Nuff said.

Next up is Honk If You Love OPI.

OPI Honk If You Love OPI
This one’s a purple creme shade. It’s quite vampy really. I don’t have anything quite like it yet, so this one’s definitely a keeper.

The lone blue in this collection is called Road House Blues.

OPI Road House Blues
Definitely another keeper for me. Very, very pretty creme shade that’s a cross between blue and purple. I don’t have anything like this one at all. I can’t wait to use this under glitter top coats to see how it looks. I think it’d be stunning.

Suzi makes another appearance here with Suzi Takes The Wheel.

OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel
Love the name, but this shade seems like it’d have tons of dupes or close dupes. Blame it on the grey craze stirred up a while back with shades like Deborah Lippmann’s Waking Up In Vegas.

OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel (in shade)

OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel (direct sunlight)

We move on to another grey called French Quarter For Your Thoughts.

OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts
Really? Another grey creme in this collection? And not only just another grey, but kinda close to Suzi Takes The Wheel. I mean, even in the press release you can see that.
You guys know what I’m thinking right now. Probably could’ve done another shade or a much darker grey or something. While I appreciate them trying to stay within the theme, they could’ve done a lot of other things instead. How about a Mardi Gras shade? I’m sure they could’ve found something that would fit in a Fall Collection with that.

One of the most talked about shades in this collection is Uh-oh Roll Down The Window.

OPI Uh-oh Roll Down The Window
Uh-oh Roll Down The Window is the lone green in this collection. I can see the appeal even though I kind of hated this shade at first. I like the name definitely and in the end, this olive-green creme won my heart.

The shade with the name I dislike most in this collection is A-taupe The Space Needle.

OPI A-taupe The Space Needle
I get the name, but I thought they could’ve come up with a better one. A-taupe The Space Needle is a warm brown creme shade. This also happens to be the shade I like the least of all 12 in the collection.

Another brown we have is called Get In The Expresso Lane.

OPI Get In The Expresso Lane
Mmmmm, this brown is more up my alley. This is a dusty brown creme shade. I love it.

Lastly, we have I Brake For Manicures.

OPI I Brake For Manicures
I Brake For Manicures is a dusty eggplant purple creme. I like Honk If You Love OPI better because it’s not dusty I think.

These shoule be available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

OPI Nicki Minaj Collection
This collaboration doesn’t really surprise me. I mean, Katy Perry’s line was a huge hit in my opinion. In fact, the shades are sold out in a lot of places. I’m still having trouble locating Teenage Dream and while I do have some close dupes of it, I still want the real deal. I’m sure a lot of nail polish fanatics understand what I mean by that. With that said, I am looking forward to this upcoming collection a lot. The colors are very vivid, not holding back at all.
Pink Everyday!
OPI Partners with Platinum Recording Artist Nicki Minaj to Launch Limited Edition Lacquers
OPI announces the launch of six new limited edition shades inspired by hip hop sensation Nicki Minaj, including a purple Shatter! Inspired by Minaj’s unique style, love of bright colors, and her debut album Pink Friday, the Nicki Minaj by OPI promotion will feature an array of bold hues, from neon lime green to pink.
“OPI is so excited to work with Nicki in releasing these six new nail lacquers,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Nicki has taken the hip hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair color both on and off the stage.”
Nicki’s eclectic look made including a new hue in OPI’s bestselling Shatter coat a must for this collaboration. The purple Super Bass Shatter (a record-setting purple that “shatters” before your eyes) is inspired by graffiti art and works when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Super Bass Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.

OPI Super Bass Shatter
The line features five nail lacquers in addition to Super Bass Shatter, ranging from fantastic pink, rainbow confetti glitter and charcoal sparkle hues to two green shades in lime and teal:

OPI Pink Friday
Kick off the weekend with this pop! of bubblegum pink.

OPI Metallic 4 Life
This charcoal sparkle flies with the starts in the skies.

OPI Save Me
I drove for miles just to find this silver-rainbow glitter.

OPI Fly
I came to win, to fight…and to wear this aqua.

OPI Did It On 'Em
A lusty little lacquer that loves the “lime”-light.
Nicki Minaj by OPI nail lacquers contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application. This limited edition promotion will be available beginning January 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

One thing that REALLY stood out for me with this is the shade Fly reminds me of Cult Nails’ Let Me Fly based on the name and shade color. They don’t look like close dupes, but similar in the shade at least being teal (and the name, of course). Coincidence?
OPI Pink Shatter: Pink Of Hearts 2011
In time for October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, OPI created a new shade called Pink Shatter, in line with their annual Pink Of Hearts edition lacquer released every year. For more details, read the press release here. Pardon the state of my cuticle area. It was really sore from swatching and I had a small cut that was healing. Can you say ouch when I have to use remover?

OPI Pink Shatter: Pink Of Hearts 2011
I didn’t use white to show how it would look over other shades. I used it over Milani Breezy and it shows how the Pink Shatter would show up over a shade where it didn’t turn out as pink as you think it would. Pink Shatter has a slight shimmer to it, but it’s more sheer than what you might think and it shows in the swatches. Formula is typical for a shatter shade and it dries really fast. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

OPI DS Bold
Hey guys! Today I have one of the 2 latest OPI DS shades to show y’all. It is very unfortunate that the other shade met its fate as it slipped through my fingers when I slightly tripped.
R.I.P. OPI DS Temptation, which I also liked much better between the 2. But still, not all is lost. Here is OPI DS Bold.

OPI DS Bold
All I have to say is that I really liked the earlier DS shades more. The later ones are mostly just glitter and this is no exception. DS Bold is made up of silver glitter in a dark reddish pink jelly base. I don’t have anything like it in my stash, but at the same time it’s not impressing me that much in terms of creativity. Like I said, the other DS shade is much prettier. It went on smoothly onto my nails and dries fast. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

OPI DS Bold (in shade)

OPI DS Bold (close-up)
Sorry for the slight yellow-ish hue around my cuticle area. I was swatching other shades earlier and one of them stained pretty good. Back to the shade, don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty nice. But it’s no stunner like some other OPI DS shades such as DS Sapphire. Ah, those are the good ‘ol days.
These shades should be available beginning September 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $12.50 ($15.95 CAN) suggested retail for each color.

OPI Halloween 2011 Collection
Have you spotted these yet?
Look Frighteningly Fashionable with OPI!
No Tricks, Just Treats with New OPI
Halloween Nail Lacquers
Celebrate the scariest day of the year with OPI’s Halloween-inspired nail lacquers, available in two promotional gifts sets. For a limited time only, OPI will offer the new Spook-ettes mini pack, which includes four mini lacquers: He’s My Boo (a scary orange), Mummy Knows Best (a spook-tacular white), I Only Date Werewolves (a bewitching black) and Zom-Body to Love (a glow-in-the-dark green).

OPI Spook-ettes 2011
The Spook-ettes mini pack also includes free nail decals, along with instructions on how to create different nail art designs using the lacquers and stickers. For example, create a two-toned look with “Jack-in-the-Moon,” featuring a grinning face in a white full moon on a black nail, or go bold with “Welcome to Spider’s Corner,” showcasing a creepy-crawler layered over a bright orange hue.
Additionally, the Pair’em Scare’em duo pack will bring Zom-Body to Love and OPI’s bestselling Black Shatter together in a hair-raising pair. Inspired by graffiti art, Shatter leaves behind a crackled, two-texture finish when painted over completely dry OPI nail lacquer. Paint Shatter over two coats of Zom-Body to Love and add a top coat for a one-of-a-kind, glow-in-the-dark manicure.

OPI Pair'em Scare'em 2011
“Halloween motivates us to express wild, imaginative concepts through hair, makeup, nails and costumes,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Spook-ettes and Pair’em Scare’em lacquers allow consumers to get fun and creative with our Halloween colors by pairing them with themed nail decals or adding the captivating shatter effect.”
OPI products contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
Spook-ettes ($12.50 US, $16.95 CAN) and the Pair’em Scare’em duo pack ($14.95 U.S, $20.95 CAN) will be retailed at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA.

OPI Miss Universe Swatches
I didn’t think much about this collection when I saw the press release, but I am pleased to say that for the most part some shades blew me out of the water. I thought to myself that this is just another collection with pretty much the same ‘ol stuff. One shade that stood out? Swimsuit…Nailed It! It’s possibly the most gorgeous blue I have ever seen. Without further ado, here are the 4 shades from the Miss Universe Collection from OPI.
First up is Congeniality Is My Middle Name.

OPI Congeniality Is My Middle Name
Congeniality Is My Middle Name is a shade with a name just a tad too long for my preference. It doesn’t take away from the beauty of this shade though. This berry-wine number packs in a lot of shimmer that it quite hard to capture with the camera, which is why I also included a shot taken with flash on. Formula was almost on the watery side. It applied smoothly onto my nails, but requires more coats as 2 thin ones were not enough for this beauty to show well enough in pictures. I retook photos that show 3 thin coats with no top coat.

Next is a shade called It’s MY Year.

OPI It’s MY Year
This shade reminds me a lot of Zoya Faye. It looks kinda close to me, but not dupes at all. It’s MY Year is a very pretty rose-pink purple with gold foil shade. It’s pretty even though it’s not something new to me per se. Formula was good and it dries pretty fast. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next up is my favorite, a blue called Swimsuit…Nailed It!

OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It!
Oh. My. God. I die. This shade is absolutely stunning. This has to be the prettiest blue I have seen yet. And to think that this was the shade I dismissed most based on the press release! Wow…..that’s all I have to say. You can see the pictures for yourself. It speaks volumes. It tells all. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! (in shade)

OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! (direct sunlight)

OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It! (close-up)
Last is another one I didn’t give much thought about, Crown Me Already!

OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It!
I’ll admit, I thought to myself that this is so much alike with OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle and wasn’t too thrilled to have this one in the set. It’s similar enough for most to justify owning only one of them, but I can see the difference enough for me to own both. Crown Me Already! is a very pretty glitter shade that I can easily use on its own and not just as a glitter top coat. That is one of the main difference I noticed between that and Servin’ Up Sparkle. To me, Crown Me Already! is more opaque and the other main difference is the glitter. The glitter in this shade is purely silver like the surface of a mirror. Shown is just one coat with no top coat.

These should be available in various retail stores nationwide such as ULTA and Trade Secret. Have you gotten any of these shades yet?

EDIT: Swatch here.

Unlike previous shade incarnations, this year’s Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer marks the debut of fan-favorite Shatter coat in OPI’s first pink shade.

Kitty Meets….
This is the first of (I hope) many series on fellow bloggers that I have met in person. Popping my “meeting a fellow nail blogger” cherry is Polish Police.
As many of you know, I have just recently returned from my 3 week visit to my family in the Philippines. While it felt short, it was just enough time for me to actually enjoy being back at work (which is good thing). My blog’s first year mark hit when I was in the air, traveling back to the US. I wanted to do a giveaway for it and all, but I was strapped for time to plan for it. But it’s okay. After all, I had this delight when I was there during my stay….

Philippines Flavored Ice Cream
….and of course I had so many more other yummy things. That’s ice cream in 3 different flavors. My parents got a tub when we went to the grocery store some time during the first few days that I was there. The purple one is Ube, the pink one is Strawberry and the yellow one is Cheese. Haha, yes! You read that right! Cheese! There was a 4th flavor in the tub, Rocky Road, but it was gone by the time I took this shot. My favorite is Ube. It’s Purple Yam and it’s so damn good. I consume it alone or with coconut meat. *drool*
Aside from missing treats such as these there, I miss a fellow nail blogger and someone I’m proud to say I’ve become good friends with: Pam of Polish Police (or known as @turbochicken on Twitter). You can read her blog entry on our meeting here. Let me tell you, she is the ultimate shopping partner for nail polish in the Philippines. I will not recount what happened blow-by-blow since you can read it on her blog entry, but let’s just say we hit all the nail polish brand stores I wanted to see in a span of 2 hours.
And of course, we swapped some.
The pictures aren’t the best when using flash, but here are the goodies she got me.

Etude House

The Face Shop

Tony Moly

Deborah Lippmann, Majolica Majorca & OPI
And I shopped more of course. Who knew that there were lots of Asian brand cosmetics in the Philippines?! I didn’t take pictures of those, but the lovely ladies I chat with on Twitter were impressed when I told them I lugged back about 200 bottles of nail polish. I was so nervous they’d be confiscated cause of some technicality or what not. They all made it safe though (no casualties!) and these beauties shown above were part of the close to 200 that I lugged back. In case you were wondering how I packed them, here’s what I did:
1) Grab a gallon sized clear resealable plastic bag. The thicker the plastic bag, the better.
2) Cut out a cardboard to the size close to the gallon sized plastic bag. I determined the size by stuffing a layer of polish in it first and seeing what width it should be. Length should not reach the resealable end, since you will need room for it to close properly and comfortably without the cardboard getting in the way.
3) Cut out smaller pieces of cardboard to act as a divider between glass surfaces that touch next to each other. Note that I am packing my polishes in one flat layer, kind of like how the pictures above this post of my swap are shown. This way, TSA and any other parties that need to inspect my luggage can see clearly the contents of the plastic bag.
4) Cut out long and thin pieces of cardboard about the size of the polish base to prevent glass bottoms from touching those in the next row.
5) Keep filling the plastic bag with polishes row by row until it is almost full. If there is enough room left for a polish to be placed horizontally, do it. This will make sure that the contents of the resealable plastic bag won’t move around.
6) Seal tightly. I also put a piece of clear tape over the bag and wrote “nail polish” on it. Just for my own peace of mind. ![]()
7) I packed them in between layers of towels and clothing. Make sure that there is enough in that piece of luggage prevent anything from moving around.
I will be featuring different brands and shades of polishes in the next few weeks. Some are from the swap I did and some are those that I have purchased when I met my fellow nail blogger and friend. She is one of the sweetest person I have ever met and I can’t wait to go back again and see her. We talked for hours over Filipino food during lunch and there were no awkward moments in our conversations at all! I am so glad that I have met her in my lifetime. I truly mean that.
I hope you guys stick around to see what these and the other polishes look like and fare!
OPI Blue Shatters Swatches
Here are swatches from the blue shatters released by OPI. There are 3 of them, 2 shimmers and one creme. They came with a little instructional tag with 3 easy steps outlined. The steps are basically the same as any crackle or shatter polish out there right now. I’m not sure if this trend is dying just yet. I see more brands coming out with it as each day goes by.
First up is Blue Shatter.

OPI Blue Shatter
Blue Shatter is a bright royal blue shatter that I layered over Deborah Lippmann’s My Old Flame, which is a red creme shade. I didn’t expect a lot from this shade from the press release other than it gives me more variety in terms of color. I thought it was nice and that’s about it. It blew me away when it went on my nails. It’s a very nice royal blue shimmer. Formula was of the right consistency and the layer of shatter polish spread evenly onto my nails. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Next is Navy Shatter.

OPI Navy Shatter
Navy Shatter is the creme shade among the 3 shatters. It’s a really dark shade. So dark that when I layered it over the same red shade I used with the other 2, it looked black (photo of this at the end of this entry). I thought at first my bottle was labeled wrong and it was Black Shatter, but I see that it’s a dark jelly shade in the bottle. That’s when I decided to layer it over a much lighter shade instead, white. Formula was just about the same as the 2 other shades and it went onto my nails with no problem. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Last shade up is my personal favorite among all shatters released by OPI so far, Turquoise Shatter.

OPI Turquoise Shatter
Turquoise Shatter is simply stunning. It’s so vibrant that I instantly fell in love. It went onto my nails smoothly over the same red shade I used with Blue Shatter, Deborah Lippmann’s My Old Flame. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

And here’s the comparison picture that I took before swatching them all individually. Left is Turquoise Shatter, middle is Blue Shatter and right is Navy Shatter. All are over 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann’s My Old Flame with no top coat.

OPI Nice Stems! Swatches
Just got this in the mail recently. Overall, I like this set of 4 better than Femme de Cirque with the exception of the glitter top coat shade (mostly because nudes doesn’t do much for me). That, I prefer to be in a clear base like I Juggle…Men. Without further ado, here are the OPI Nice Stems! Collection swatches.
First up is Play With Peonies.

OPI Play The Peonies
Play With Peonies is a delicate pink shade that has a frosty finish. You know what it means when I saw frost, yes….brush strokes! So out of all 4 shades in this collection, I liked this one the least. The color itself is fine, but the finish is not something I have ever liked and that’s just a personal preference. It looked better with the top coat on; it covers the evidence of the brush strokes!
Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next up is a shade that totally caught me by surprise, Come To Poppy.

OPI Come To Poppy
Come To Poppy is the stunner in this collection. I didn’t think much about it based on the press release pictures here. This is a pinkish coral shade that is packed with shimmer. It seems slightly frosty, but it’s still a shimmer to me. Formula is good and went on my nails smoothly. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

The one that came short for me is Be A Dahlia Won’t You?

OPI Be A Dahlia Won't You?
Don’t get me wrong, I still love this shade. I was let down slightly only because I thought that this was going to be more opaque than it is based on the press release pictures. This is a fuchsia shimmery shade that reminds me of glass fleck shades. Formula is good and went on my nails smoothly as well. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Lastly is the glittery one of the 4, I Lily Love You.

OPI I Lily Love You (in shade)

OPI I Lily Love You (direct sunlight)

OPI I Lily Love You (close-up)
As indicated throughout the post, this shade is very sheer and seems to be meant more as a glitter top coat than anything else. This shade has multicolored round, square and flake glitter in a very light pink jelly base. Don’t let the view of the bottle fool you….it’s pretty sheer. Shown above is 2 thin coats with no top coat.
Any shade that interests you?

OPI Touring America Collection
Here is a press release for Fall/Winter 2011 from OPI.
EDIT: Swatches here.
Coast to Coast Classics
OPI Launches Touring America
Collection for Fall/Winter 2011
OPI hits the open road with a new take on classic style in the Touring America Collection for Fall/Winter 2011. Inspired by Americana and cities with rich cultural heritage, the collection’s twelve shades offer comfortable glamour and wearable elegance for nails and toes.
“My recent road trip across the country sparked the creation of the Touring America Collection,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Autumn is a time for reinvention, and these shades revive classic, iconic colors for fall, from cool heather, khaki and chocolate to warm rose, peach and red.”
The season’s go-to shades of taupe and pearl grey appear in variations from dark to light – A-taupe the Space Needle, Get in the Expresso Lane, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, and Suzi Takes the Wheel. Lush urban neutrals in deep sapphire (Road House Blues), rich raisin (Honk If You Love OPI), chic olive (Uh-oh Roll Down the Window), and coffee brown (I Brake for Manicures) merge with iconic red (Color to Diner For), vivid rose (My Address is “Hollywood”), and luminous coral and orange (I Eat Mainely Lobster, Are We There Yet?) for an expansive color landscape.
“This collection will take women around the world on the ultimate tour across the USA, with stops in Baltimore, Clarksdale, Hollywood, Jackson Hole, Memphis, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis, and Tucson,” explains Suzi. “Together, the locales that inspired Touring America make up a rich palette of color complementing trends from the runway, where we saw a mix of feminine details and dramatic menswear touches.”
Touring America includes the following shades:

OPI Are We There Yet?
Don’t make me reach back there and take that perfect melon shade!

OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster
We “clawed” through crowds to catch this coral for you.

May 3, 2011 – Christina Ricci walked the red carpet in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art last evening for the annual Costume Institute Gala in a custom creation by Zac Posen. Shatter Line Extended with Bold Blues!
OPI Launches Bestselling Shatter Coat in Three Blue-Hued Shades
OPI expands its Shatter line with the addition of three new trendsetting shades: Blue, Navy and Turquoise. With nautical hues of cobalt, indigo and sapphire, these blues provide the perfect look for summer nails in one simple step. Inspired by graffiti art, Shatter leaves behind a crackled, two-texture finish when painted over any dry OPI hue. Adding top coat takes Shatter from matte to glossy in seconds.

OPI Blue Shatter

OPI Navy Shatter

OPI Turquoise Shatter
“Black Shatter was received with great fanfare, showing that women are looking for new ways to express themselves and are excited to try different textures on their nails,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “By adding a variety of colors to the line, there are more options for every woman, whether she is looking for a funky aquamarine or elegant deep blue. Unlike traditional nail art which can be complicated and difficult to replicate, Shatter is easy to use and allows everyone to experiment with this new trend.”
In addition to the original Black Shatter, the line also features the Shatter coat in White, Red and Silver. All Shatter retail displays now feature Quick Response (QR) code, a two-dimensional barcode readable by smart phones and mobile phones with cameras and Internet capability. A quick scan of the display’s QR code will directly link to a demonstrational video – making application foolproof.
All Shatter products contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
