Sheswai F*ckyeah

Hey y’all! Here’s a stunning shade that has a bold name that could make some blush. It’s almost Friday after all, so this shade may just be fitting for ending the work week. I see it as a fun and quite possibly the perfect summer shade. Here’s Sheswai F*ckyeah.

Sheswai F*ckyeah

F*ckyeah is described on their website as the following: “We found ourselves so excited by the bright violet neon fuchsia of this color that we just had to share our joy with a good ol’ fashioned ‘f*ckyeah’”. This fuchsia shade is sure to turn heads and neon shades are, by default, hot summer colors. This shade is quite pigmented and dries matte-ish like most neons do. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Carnaval Swatches

This entire collection is described as the following: “Escape the mundane and drab this Winter with the latest nail polish collection from Ricky’s NYC’s Mattese Elite, inspired by the Carnaval celebrations held in Brazil. These glossy solid shades are a collage of neon — bright, intense and immediate party-starters.” Neons – YAY! Not gonna delay more…..onto the swatches!

First up is Rei Momo.

Mattese Elite Rei Momo

Rei Momo, or King Momo, is considered the King of Carnaval during the festivities. This is a hot pink neon. No other way to describe this one. I absolutely love, LOVE, L-O-V-E this shade. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Rei Momo (in shade)

Mattese Elite Rei Momo (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Rei Momo (close-up)

Next up is Passistas.

Mattese Elite Passistas

Passistas is a term referred to the talented Carnaval samba dancers. This purple neon shade suits it perfectly. It’s vibrant and beautiful. It reminds me of the purple I see in some orchid flowers. This shade is not as opaque as the others though. It’s still worth it though. Shown is 4 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Passistas (in shade)

Mattese Elite Passistas (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Passistas (close-up)

Then we have Desfiles De Samba.

Mattese Elite Desfiles De Samba

Desfiles De Samba refers to the samba parade. “A parade-worthy light green” it is! Shown is 3 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Desfiles De Samba (in shade)

Mattese Elite Desfiles De Samba (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Desfiles De Samba (close-up)

Next is the one I liked least, Rainha.

Mattese Elite Rainha

Rainha means queen and it refers to the queen in the Carnaval festivities. I didn’t think the name suited the shade really. I was expecting a bolder, brighter shade for the queen of the event! Oh well. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Rainha (in shade)

Mattese Elite Rainha (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Rainha (close-up)

Next up is one of my favorites in this collection, Fantasias.

Mattese Elite Fantasias

Fantasias, I believe, refers to the actual costumes in a Carnaval samba group. While I do like this shade more in the bottle than on the nail, it is rich and stunning. This one dried the most dull or matte out of all 6. I think that’s partly why I like the purple neon color more in the bottle. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Fantasias (in shade)

Mattese Elite Fantasias (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Fantasias (close-up)

Saving the best for last, here’s my favorite one called Samba Enredo.

Mattese Elite Samba Enredo

Samba Enredo refers to songs that are performed by a samba school for events in Carnaval. This neon pink is so bold, so bright and so pretty. I love this kind of neon pink as opposed to the softer ones. This one could pass for a Rainha in my opinion. :) Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Samba Enredo (in shade)

Mattese Elite Samba Enredo (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Samba Enredo (close-up)

Overall, I love this collection. I have always been blown away by Mattese Elite neons and this is no exception. I loved last year’s bright offerings and I love this one even more! If I had to pick a few as my must-haves it would be Samba Enredo, Fantasias, Passistas and Rei Momo. If you don’t like the dull or matte finish, just add top coat and you’re good to go. Most of them dry to a slightly dull or matte finish.

You can score any of these beauties directly on their webpage or if you live in the wonderful state of New York, you can stop by at any Ricky’s NYC store locations (see here) and see this and other shades for yourself before you buy. Mattese Elite shades retails for $5.99 each before tax.

Ruby Kisses Hot Pink Pants 06

Hey guys! Brrr! Today is the official start of cold weather for the rest of the year. HUGE bummer for me since I prefer warmer weather. On the upside, it’s a clear reminder of the Holiday season for me. I love this time of the year for that. I will be going to Philly to see my cousins too. It’s always a fun time visiting them and I’ll still be posting when I’m there. I might get to meet another fellow nail blogger or 2 actually. :) Today’s shade is the last of the “hot” or bright colors I have for the year. This one’s from Ruby Kisses’ High Definition line called Hot Pink Pants, also known as 06.

Ruby Kisses Hot Pink Pants 06

YOWZA! Bright, eh?! I love, love, love this shade of bright pink! It’s very vibrant….definitely would cheer you up on a cold, dreary day like this. This is very pigmented and gave me no problems during application. It’s slower than other brands to dry, but it’s certainly not a problem for me. If it was a shade I liked less, it wouldn’t make it in my stash. It acts like a neon in terms of the slightly dull finish when it’s fully dry and looks like a neon to me.

Ruby Kisses Pink Flamingo 135

Hey y’all! How are you guys feeling today? I’m not feeling that great today, but this shade sure cheered me up a bit! It’s from Ruby Kisses and is called Pink Flamingo, also known as 135. Might need to put your sunglasses on!

Ruby Kisses Pink Flamingo 135

Pink Flamingo is a pretty, bright pink creme shade. It’s almost a neon really, but with a super glossy finish. This one was so easy to apply and a one coater! Shown is one thick coat with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Happy Hour Swatches

It’s Friday! Today’s post will go well with celebrating the start of the weekend. Is everybody else ready for this weekend to be over? I know I sure am! I will be going with a few co-worker friends down to the city after work for dinner and a shopping trip in the Asian grocery store. Fun times! And to kick things off, here are swatches for Mattese Elite’s Happy Hour Collection. Note: these 6 cocktail themed shades are scented!

First up is the one that caught my eye among the 6 shades, Hypnotic.

Mattese Elite Hypnotic

This bright, blue shimmery shade is soooooo pretty! I actually recruited a few guy co-workers to rate the accuracy of the scent and this one is dead on according to 2 of them (the rest didn’t know what it’s supposed to smell like, ha!). The scent is cloyingly sweet, but very tolerable to my nose and I’m pretty sensitive to scents. It didn’t give me a headache at all! This shade has a very slight duochrome shimmer that can be seen in certain angles only under direct sunlight. I can definitely say this shade did not disappoint in my book! Formula is easy to work with. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Hypnotic (in shade)

Next up is named after a very popular drink, Cosmopolitan.

Mattese Elite Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan is a bright deep pink (I want to say fuchsia) shade that reminds me a lot of China Glaze’s Purple Panic. This shiny creme shade is very pretty and the color is sure to catch people’s attention. The scent is pretty accurate according to the boys. It applied onto my nails smoothly. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next is based on another drink that I’ve heard a lot of before, Tequila Sunrise.

Mattese Elite Tequila Sunrise

The color of this shade suits the name of the drink, but the scent aspect for this one comes up a bit short. It smells faintly of orange and that’s about it. It doesn’t completely miss the mark at least. This duochrome property in this orange shimmer is more apparent than in Hypnotic. It’s quite mesmerizing seeing it. Unfortunately, it didn’t show up well in any of these swatch shots. I can barely see it in some shots and that’s about it. Formula was a teeny bit more watery than the other shades, but not on a deal breaker proportion. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Tequila Sunrise (in shade)

Mattese Elite Tequila Sunrise (direct sunlight)

Shirley Temple is another classic that a lot of people are familiar with.

Mattese Elite Shirley Temple

This one’s a fun bright, light pink creme shade that’s very delicate and feminine. It’s not as bold and wild as the other 5 shades in this collection. The scent for this one is lighter than the other shades and Seargent Grumbles (code name for my co-worker developer/chef) says it smells right to him. Formula is good to work with and it dried pretty fast. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Shirley Temple (in shade)

Next shade is a staple in any Happy Hour gathering my co-worker friends have, Apple Martini.

Mattese Elite Apple Martini

Mmmmmmm…….just hearing the name of that drink is making my mouth water. However, the scent isn’t that accurate. All the boys detected a relatively strong presence of coconut and they all guessed it was Pina Colada. It’s a bit too sweet too to be Apple Martini, but these are just what the boys think of it. Your experience may vary with any of these opinions stated. :) I will admit though that the scent doesn’t screm Apple Martini to me. This bright green neon shade is a pretty addition to my stash. I must admit I was expecting a more sublte apple green shade based on the name. It applied onto my nails smoothly. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Apple Martini (in shade)

Last shade in this collection is Purple Passion.

Mattese Elite Purple Passion

I don’t think I’ve ever had this drink before. The grape scent of this shade is pretty strong. Pobe says he smells grape, but isn’t quite sure if it makes the mark. Sergeant Grumbles says it’s pretty good compared to the real thing. This grape purple creme shade has a very shiny finish compared to the other cremes in this collection. Application was smooth and easy. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Mattese Elite Purple Passion (in shade)

Mattese Elite Purple Passion (direct sunlight)

Mattese Elite Purple Passion (close-up)

Overall? Well-rounded collection that has a very fun theme. My co-worker friend S (yes, I have several of them) thought it would be fun to go out one night and order these 6 drinks and verify the scent accuracy. Fun activity indeed…..but could be pricey! :D I don’t think these are all straight up neons, but some definitely are such as Apple Martini.

Dare To Wear DJ Mix

Today, I have bright one for y’all from Dare To Wear’s Creative Rhythm Collection. The Creative Rhythm Collection has 6 bright neon shades that definitely suits summer. Here is DJ Mix.

Date To Wear DJ Mix

This shade is the one I think would be the majority’s favorite from that collection. It’s a deep green neon that makes me think of the ocean. The direct sunlight shot shows the shade accurately. As with most neons, this dries matte-ish. It’s nothing that a top coat can’t fix! Formula was good to work with and it dries pretty fast. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Orly Pinup Swatches

I finally was able to swatch these beauties. I didn’t have uber high hopes for these, as I didn’t want to be disappointed when I do end up swatching them. They turned out better than I expected. A thumbs up from me for Orly! Here are swatches for the 4 shades in their summer offering, the Pinup Collection.

First up, we have Coquette Cutie.

Orly Coquette Cutie

Orly Coquette Cutie

I find the name so dainty. This coral creme didn’t do much for me compared to the other shades in this collection. I found the other shades more interesting, but this is a pretty one nonetheless. Formula is good. It went on smoothly onto my nails. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next up is Here Comes Trouble.

Orly Here Comes Trouble

Orly Here Comes Trouble

A beautiful green glitter shade, I don’t have much to complain about this one. This shade is made up of regular small square and larger sized hex green glitter in a light green base, almost yellow-green actually. You can use this as a glitter top coat but the glitter is pretty packed, so I prefer to use it as it is. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next up is a bright one that is aptly named Va Va Voom.

Orly Va Va Voom

Can you just say BRIGHT?! Wow! I am blown away by how bright this pink neon creme shade is! Certainly exceeded my expectations. Formula is a dream to work with and it dries on the matte side like most neon shades do. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Last one is another glitter shade called Bubbly Bombshell.

Orly Bubbly Bombshell

Orly Bubbly Bombshell

Bubbly Bombshell is made up of regular purple square glitter and larger hex glitter in a clear base. I adore this shade! You can use it as a glitter top coat too, but the glitter is pretty packed just like Here Comes trouble. I prefer it alone really. Formula was great for a glitter shade. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Dare To Wear Go Girl

Hey all! Today, I have a very bright number for you guys. I’ve heard of this brand from a friend of mine who I fondly refer to as my polish and bag sister. I met her through a forum because of the love we have for designer bags and she’s the one who kinda led me to this polish madness. I had her once for a beauty products Random Act Of Kindness thing (kinda like a Secret Santa) and she had lots of polishes on her wishlist. After seeing all those beautiful colors, it was only a matter of time I got sucked into it. Looking up swatch pictures, I never knew there were blogs like that and Scrangie’s swatches of OPI’s 2010 Holiday Collection sealed the deal.

So……neons are relatively new to me since I’ve always shied away from it. Something about the brightness and the fact that most neons don’t have any shimmer (I love holos, glitters, and shimmers!). Well, I actually didn’t even think that neons have any shimmer until I saw some of China Glaze’s neon shades. That was the moment I went neon crazy. You’ll be seeing more neons on my blog (just in time for summer too!), but today we have Dare To Wear’s Go Girl from their Nightlife Collection.

Dare To Wear Go Girl

What a bright pink! This shade provides that pop of color, sure to brighten your day (and annoy some others, hehe). It’s the perfect pink neon that I would want to sport when I’m thinking of a bright color. Formula is smooth and buttery. It gave me no problems at all. I’ve been slightly paranoid reading that neons can be streaky and such, but not with this one! Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

So, what do you think? Yay or nay?

LeChat Perfect Match Spring Neon Gel Polish Collection

The shades are bright and pretty much awesome. I’ve never tried gel polish before though.

LeChat Perfect Match Spring Neon Gel Polish Collection

If anyone has any experience with gel polish, I’d sure love to hear your thoughts on it in general. :)

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection

Color Club comes up with “deliciously scented shades to satisfy your color cravings” with 7 new shades in a collection aptly named Wicked Sweet.

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection

Mmmmm. The only scented nail polishes I have ever tried were from Revlon. I think it’s a nice type of polish to have really. People who aren’t nail polish fanatics often find it cool and ask where I got them. So, I welcome this offering from Color Club with open arms!

Color Club Wicked Sweet Collection

Shades included in this set are Get Your Lem-On, The Lime Starts Here, I Always Get My Man-Darin, Yum Gum, Raspberry Rush, Gimme A Grape Big Kiss, and Wicked Sweet. I’m excited for all of these shades actually, not just for the color but to see how accurate the scent is. I hope the scents aren’t sickly sweet and that the lemon one doesn’t smell like Pledge. I have made soap in the past and a lot of fragrance companies’ lemon scent smelled like Pledge. Ick. The shades are neons. I wonder how it will compare to my Electro Candy Collection? I think I will like Electro Candy more still, but we’ll see.

Milani Neon Swatches

Let me start off by saying that neon shades aren’t ones that I rush out to try when I see them in retail or drugstores. With that said, I had the opportunity to try some neon shades from Milani. As far as I know, Milani’s Neon line is part of their core collection. I have spotted it often at CVS, but I always went to ooh and ahh at the 3D Holographic shades and paid no attention to the neons. But after trying these out, I’m beginning to develop a soft spot for neons.

First up is Totally 80′s. The name says it all. Very vibrant and bright, this shade reminds me of a yellow highlighter that have been slightly used over time. Fresh yellow highlighter is very bright and blinding, but after some use the brightness is cut slightly and continues on over time. That is what this shade reminds me of, which is not a bad thing. What I think of neon yellow is just so blinding and annoying that I don’t think I’d want that as a nail polish shade. This neon yellow shows a good balance in terms of brightness. :) Shown in 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Next, we have Awesome Orange. This is a bright orange jelly shade. It actually made me think of my little brother, as orange is one of his favorite colors. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Awesome Orange

Now we have my all time favorite color, red! I love reds of all kind and this is no exception. This one’s called Techno Red. This is an orangey red that is bold and bright. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Techno Red

Next up is a very pretty pink. How can you not think of pink when you mention neons? This one’s called Pink Rocks! and it’s very true! Pink has always been associated with being a female color. Light, subtle pinks echoes gentleness and femininity while bright, bold pinks scream girl power. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Pink Rocks!

The next shade we have doesn’t really make me think of neon colors. I guess I’m not used to thinking that there could be a neon purple, but here it is! This one’s called Rad Purple. The shade when applied on the nail is quite different from what the bottle color looks like. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Rad Purple

Milani Neon Rad Purple (in shade)

Milani Neon Rad Purple (direct sunlight)

Milani Neon Rad Purple (close-up)

The next shade I have is called Dude Blue. The name made me smile as people do say “Dude” a lot back then. I thought the name of this shade was quite quirky and clever. This shade is a bit brighter than what it makes you think when looking at the bottle. Formula for this one is creamy and thicker compared with the ones featured above. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Dude Blue

Milani Neon Dude Blue (in shade)

Milani Neon Dude Blue (direct sunlight)

Milani Neon Dude Blue (close-up)

Last but not the least is the green one in this collection, Fresh Teal. This does not reflect what I think of when someone mentions neon green. Neon green, to me, is a blinding green. Kind of like what I think of what neon yellow is. This one is a much muted and dusty version of that. This shade is pretty opaque and the formula for this one is smooth and creamy, just like Dude Blue. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Neon Fresh Teal

Milani Neon Fresh Teal (in shade)

Milani Neon Fresh Teal (direct sunlight)

Milani Neon Fresh Teal (close-up)

All in all, a great collection offered by Milani. I am missing 1 shade from the whole Neon line, a bright pink one, so I’ll have to look which one that is and hopefully feature it later on. The formula for these run on the thin side, which can make application slightly streaky, except for the last 2 shades. Those 2 were just a dream to apply on. The formula for those is buttery smooth. The bottles are fun and bright. Take note though that some shades are not what they seem by the bottle color. With the exception of the last 2 shades, all needed another thin coat or so (or apply thicker coats) for it to be opaque on the nail. I prefer applying thin coats, since it dries faster.

You can find Milani’s Neon shades in various retail and drugstores such as ULTA, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. There are several places to get them online as well. So what do you think? Which neon shade can you see yourself sporting on your nails?
