Curtain Call: John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Shampoo
Hey guys! Today’s Curtain Call post is on a product I came upon by pure chance. There were a bunch of these marked down on sale at Walmart once and I figured why not give it a shot? I wish I picked up a couple more of these for my co-worker friends to try being that this is supposed to help with frizz and I have pretty much pin straight long hair.
At 10 fl oz / 295 ml, this retails for $6.49 at CVS and is similarly priced at various retail and drugstores. It goes on sale from time to time (it’s $4.87 right now at CVS!) and combined with coupons from your weekly Sunday paper or through tearpads in the store, this can essentially comes close to being free. The whole tube lasted me for a little over 2 months. Remember, I have long hair that goes down my back. The front text reads “REPAIRING FOR DAMAGED HAIR” and “MENDS & BLOCKS FRIZZ FOR EASY STYLING”. The back of the tube reads the following:

Verdict? Not bad. While it functions well as a regular shampoo, it’s not the best I’ve tried ever. It cleanses my hair well, but I can’t verify the claim that it helps with frizz. The scent is pleasant like that of a regular shampoo really. If it goes on sale or clearance for a good price, I’ll pick up a couple more just cause it’s a good buy.

Here’s another segment of Curtain Call, where I provide an honest review at the end of the life of a product I’ve been using. Today we have shampoo and conditioner from John Frieda. This is their Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo & Conditioner. I managed to get these with my Extra Care Bucks (ECB) from CVS to get more ECB with this purchase.
At 8.45 fl oz / 250 ml (bonus size of 30% more is 11 fl oz / 325 ml), this retails for $6.99 at CVS and is similarly priced at various retail and drugstores. It goes on sale from time to time and combined with coupons from your weekly Sunday paper or through tearpads in the store, this can essentially comes close to being free. The whole tube lasted me for almost 3 months. With my long hair, that’s pretty good. Verdict? I like it. While I’m not going to rush out and claim that this is my holy grail shampoo and conditioner, it does what it claims to do. It cleanses my hair well and I do feel like I get more volume after using this. The scent is pleasant and refreshing; a typical shampoo scent really. Conditioner works really well. I apply it to my ends first then even it out throughout my hair. I avoid getting conditioner on my scalp just as a preference. My scalp doesn’t need much conditioning really. If I am out and it’s on for a good price, I’ll grab it. Other than that, I’ll still keep my eyes peeled for something new to try that would wow me.

So here we are again with another segment of Curtain Call, where I provide an honest review at the end of the life of a product I’ve been using. Today we have shampoo and conditioner from John Frieda’s Root Awakening line. I got the formula for normal hair. I managed to get these with my Extra Care Bucks (ECB) from CVS to get more ECB with this purchase.

The Eucalyptus scent isn’t too strong, but readers may want to open it just to sniff it and make sure. The scent stays on my hair for a good while and it’s quite refreshing. Conditioner does the job well. I apply it to my ends first then even it out throughout my hair. I avoid getting conditioner on my scalp just as a preference. My scalp doesn’t need much conditioning really. However, there is nothing really about the shampoo or conditioner that sets it apart from all other brands. If I am out and it’s on for a good price, I’ll grab it. Other than that, I’d rather try some other brands in hopes of finding one that I really like.
