Finger Paints Summer In The City Swatches
Middle of the week and very busy here, so I’ll try to keep this short. Here are the swatches for Finger Paints’ summer offering in the order of the press release.
First up is Beach Bound.

Finger Paints Beach Bound
Beach Bound is a creamy purple creme. It is pretty pigmented. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Beach Bound (in shade)

Next is Flip Flop.

Finger Paints Flip Flop
Flip Flop is a bright raspberry pink creme. It’s almost fuchsia to some, but I still consider this a raspberry pink. I love how bright and juicy this one is. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Flip Flop (in shade)

Next is my favorite, Late Night Rendezvous.

Finger Paints Late Night Rendezvous
Late Night Rendezvous is a vibrant blue shimmer. I love this type of finish. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Next is one that they’ve released recently for 2012, Movie In The Park.

Finger Paints Movie In The Park
Movie In The Park is a purple glitter shade. It is best used layered over other shades since this is basically blue and purple glitter in a clear base. I opted to keep it light to show how it looks as is. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Finger Paints Movie In The Park (in shade)

Next is Sexy Sundress.

Finger Paints Sexy Sundress
This one is the shade that made me go WTF?! Allow me to explain. See how it looks in the press release? Yeah, I was expecting a beautiful yellow creme. But no, I end up with yellow-green creme that makes nme think of Shrek. Oh well, I’ll still be thinking about that wonderful yellow creme shade that could’ve been. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Sexy Sundress (in shade)

Last up is To-teally Hot.

Finger Paints To-teally Hot
To-teally Hot is such a perfect color for the summer. It’s a mix between turquoise and teal. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints To-teally Hot (in shade)

Finger Paints To-teally Hot (direct sunlight)

Finger Paints To-teally Hot (close-up)
Overall? I like them all, but Sexy Sundress was such a letdown. I wish it was what it originally was supposed to be. A bright yellow would’ve made this entire collection better. But not bad at all. These shades should be available in Sally Beauty Supply stores and online for $4.99 each.

Milani Just Grayt
Short and sweet here. Today’s post is on a shade released in 2012 by Milani. Here’s Milani Just Grayt.

Milani Just Grayt
Just Grayt is a creamy grey creme shade. It immediately made me think of Deborah Lippmann Waking Up In Vegas, but they’re not dupes at all. Formula for this is decent. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

This shade should now be available in retail stores where Milani is sold. Otherwise, try nabbing it online on their website.

Milani Hipster Plum
Hey guys! It’s Thursday, almost the weekend! I’m looking forward to it since I got in the shades I ordered from Butter London with their 30% F&F code. They extended the sale until the end of this month! The torture! I almost placed another order last night and ended up clearing out my entire cart – crazy! Just when I thought the madness and temptation is over, I get an email saying that they’re extending the F&F! Haha! Moving on, today’s post is on one of the new shades Milani released this year. Here’s Milani Hipster Plum.

Milani Hipster Plum
I’m not happy how these pictures turned out, but I have too many others to go through that I just let this one go. At the very least, it’s color accurate. Hipster Plum is an eggplant purple creme shade. Formula is decent and is quite pigmented. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Morning Coffee
Middle of the week and just chugging along. Short and sweet – here’s Milani Morning Coffee.

Milani Morning Coffee
Not a huge coffee drinker here…..just the cold ones once in a while. Morning Coffee is a pretty reddish-brown creme with a shiny finish. Formula is very rich, creamy and smooth. It glided onto my nails beautifully. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Zoya Beach Swatches
I was a bit on the fence about this collection based on the press release because I felt that last year’s Summertime Collection was pretty darn good even when I thought there were a bit too many reds and purples. I thought maybe a yellow in there could’ve made the variety more even, but this year’s collection isn’t too far off from having the same issue as last year’s. Still, I have to give it to Zoya for doing alright with these 6 shades.
First up is Reagan.

Zoya Reagan
Reagan is described on their site as the following: “A deep, cool fuchsia pink with subtle blue undertone and an opaque cream finish. Reagan packs a lot of color without being excessively bright and is soft but not overly muted.” This shade went on very smoothly on my nails. It’s pretty opaque and dried really fast. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Zoya Reagan (in shade)

Zoya Reagan (direct sunlight)

Zoya Reagan (close-up)
Next up is Lara.

Zoya Lara
Lara is described on their site as the following: “Medium magenta-rose pink with subtle yellow undertone and a soft cream finish. A soft shade, but with a candy-like pop of color to ensure that it doesn’t look flat.” This shade went on very smoothly on my nails as well. It’s quite opaque, but not a one coater for sure. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Zoya Lara (in shade)

Zoya Lara (direct sunlight)

Zoya Lara (close-up)
Another pink one is up next called Shelby.

Zoya Shelby
Shelby is described on their site as the following: “Soft but colorful cherry blossom pink with an opaque cream finish. A light girly pink with enough tint to keep it from looking pastel or washed out.” Formula for this is similar to Lara. It’s quite opaque as well, but just like Lara….not a one coater. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Zoya Shelby (in shade)

Zoya Shelby (direct sunlight)

Zoya Shelby (close-up)
The brightest one in this group, here’s Arizona.

Zoya Arizona
Arizona is described on their site as the following: “Softened bright citrus orange with a muted cream finish. This orange is bright but also very soft, giving it a fun, orange sherbet-like look on the nails.” I love this orange! It’s bright and fun. This shade is the least opaque in this set. It still applied nicely on my nails though. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Zoya Arizona (in shade)

Zoya Arizona (direct sunlight)

Zoya Arizona (close-up)
Moving on, the lone shimmer called Tracie.

Zoya Tracie
Tracie is described on their site as the following: “Faded, yellow-toned pistachio green with delicate silvery shimmer for a frosted pearl finish. Great for a fresh-looking twist on vintage avocado green.” I was actually hoping that this would be a creme as well. I didn’t like it as much as a shimmery shade. Formula is good and it dried really fast. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Zoya Tracie (in shade)

Zoya Tracie (direct sunlight)

Zoya Tracie (close-up)
Lastly, we have Wednesday.

Zoya Zuza
Wednesday is described on their site as the following: “Faded dirty medium turquoise with green undertone and an opaque cream finish. A very stylish shade with a funky yet easy to wear vintage look.” I surprisingly like this shade more than I thought I would. Definitely one of my favorites in this collection. It is pretty opaque and dried really fast. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Zoya Wednesday (in shade)

Zoya Wednesday (direct sunlight)

Zoya Wednesday (close-up)
I like their formula and while I think they could’ve swapped out a red for a yellow, it’s still a great collection. Compared to last year’s collection though, it’s different and doesn’t even come close to the beauty and pigmentation.

Milani Fuchsia Fierce
Hey guys! Today’s post is on one of the few cremes I’ve ever liked from Milani. It’s part of the new shades they have released for 2012. Here’s Milani Fuchsia Fierce.

Milani Fuchsia Fierce
Fuchsia Fierce is one bright pop of color. It’s a reddish fuchsia creme shade that suits summer perfectly. I love it. Formula is good and it dries pretty fast for a creme. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Elevation Polish Tirich Mir
Awesome flakie? Look no further with Elevation Polish Tirich Mir.

Elevation Polish Tirich Mir
Elevation Polish is a brand that’s new to me. I like the cool naming concept behind the shades offered. They’re all named behind mountains the creator has climbed in her lifetime I believe. I find that pretty cool!
A list to the shades she has made available for public can be found here. Her store details can be found here. I absolutely adore flakies, so y’all know how I feel about this one. This is shown over Milani Black Swift. It dried pretty fast and I like the shape and colors the flakies exhibit.

Elevation Polish Tirich Mir (in shade)

Elevation Polish Tirich Mir (close-up)
I have my eyes on a few other of her shades already, but I’ll have to wait until my minor car accident and minor surgery is taken care of first. My picks? The Arches At Sunset (hot color shift going on there!), Froze To Death (wild glitter that I canNOT resist), Ubsunur (what a blue and blue holds a special place in my heart right now), and Owen (a shiny blue). I like Maroon Bells as well (surprisingly!), Alphubel (someone take my temperature….this is a baby blue shade – very unusual for me to like a lot), Everest (holographic glitter – ’nuff said), and Denali (blurple!).
Love it? I know I do!
Milani Black Swift
If you’re looking for a black creme polish that’s easily accessible – look no further! I found the perfect shade that embodies that in Milani Black Swift.

Milani Black Swift
I can attest to the one coat claim of this shade. I was running out of the black creme shade I usually use and was afraid I wouldn’t find a suitable substitute for it, but I was wrong! This applied beautifully and dried pretty fast for a creme. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Milani Fast Fuchsia
Hey guys! Sorry I have missed a few days in posting. There was crazy tornado weather going at this part of the country and I didn’t feel like posting much during these times. But today I have a new shade from Milani from their High Speed Fast Dry One Coat Formula line. Here’s Milani Fast Fuchsia.

Milani Fast Fuchsia
While it is almost opaque in one coat, I needed more than that for complete coverage. Fast Fuchsia is a pretty bright fuchsia pink creme. Formula is really nice and self-leveling. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani White On The Spot
Hey guys! Today’s post is on a shade that I don’t own many of. Here’s Milani White On The Spot.

Milani White On The Spot
White On The Spot is a white creme shade. To get full opacity, one coat was simply not enough. However, a good white shade is hard to find and this definitely takes the cake on all the white shades I’ve tried from various brands. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Rapid Cherry
I haven’t been around much these days cause I’m still going through some stuff, but I’m still here once in a while! I hope you guys stick around for stuff I have to post here. Today’s post is a beautiful red. Here is Milani Rapid Cherry, one of their new shades for 2012.

Milani Rapid Cherry
Rapid Cherry is a bright, bold red creme shade that is both fun and classy. Formula for this is decent and it actually is a one coater. Other shades in this line didn’t quite make the one coat formula claim, so I was quite pleased with this one. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Milani Yellow Whiz
Hey guys! Continuing with my chipper mood, here’s another cheery shade for y’all. Here’s Milani Yellow Whiz.

Milani Yellow Whiz
The name makes me cringe a little, but the shade is actually pretty nice. Yellow Whiz is a bright yellow creme shade. It’s not quite a one coater for me like the line boasts, but I wouldn’t consider it sheer at all. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Violet Dash
It’s Friday and boy….I’ve never been happier that it is. I just got back from seeing baby chicks at Atwoods that are simply so adorable!
I figured I’ll make a post today anyway even though it’s late into the day. Here’s Milani Violet Dash.

Milani Violet Dash
Isn’t it pretty? Violet Dash is a purple creme shade that’s very femenine and would suit Easter pretty well. It’s not too pastel at all for my taste and is a little bit dusty. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Jiffy Orange
Today I have a bright number from Milani. While this color isn’t one of my favorites, it’s slowly growing on me. Here’s Milani Jiffy Orange.

Milani Jiffy Orange
Jiffy Orange is a bright orange creme. This one applied beautifully onto my nails. I think it’s quite suitable for summer! While I didn’t get the opacity I wanted with one coat, another one did the trick. The finish is so shiny too. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Sheswai Stoked
Hey guys! Happy Friday! Another week just flew by, eh? Here’s something new for y’all: Sheswai Stoked.

Sheswai Stoked
Stoked is a beautiful turquoise shade described as “as rich & deep as the sea” and it’s spot on! Formula was really nice. It made application smooth and flawless. It dried in a decent amount of time. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Teddy Brown
Hey guys! Hope y’all had a great weekend. I’m almost done with all the new Milani polish shades in their regular line for 2012. The shade I liked the least so far is this light brown creme. Here’s Milani Teddy Brown.

Milani Teddy Brown
Teddy Brown reminded a friend of mine of another shade from Milani called Teddy Bare. I don’t have that one, so I can’t tell how close they really are. Teddy Brown is a light chocolate milk brown creme. It applied onto my nails easily. While I don’t like the darker brown streaks shown by looking at the bottle, it doesn’t affect the end result when applied on the nails. I did shake the bottle to make sure the pigments are fully mixed, but I guess it wasn’t enough. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Dark Coffee
Really short n’ sweet for this one. Just finished a 5K today and though I didn’t even break a sweat cause I walked pretty much most of it, I feel sleepy now.
Here’s Milani Dark Coffee.

Milani Dark Coffee
Dark Coffee is a beautiful dark brown creme. It applied beautifully on my nails and has a pretty shiny finish. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

nails inc. Piccadilly Circus
Hey guys! Today’s shade is a recent addition to my nails inc. collection. Here’s nails inc. Piccadilly Circus.

nails inc. Piccadilly Circus
This shade is described as “a deep cerise pink shade” and “is very flattering and can be worn from day to night.” I don’t find this to be pink at all. I see it more as a burgundy red creme shade. Formula is excellent and I am pleased to inform y’all that this is a one coater. Yes! What’s not to love with this shade? Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Mental note to self: don’t touch the beautiful silver caps when you have ANY trace of remover on your fingers.

Finger Paints Gumdrops & Lollipops Swatches
I’m making this short and sweet. Here’s Finger Paints’ Gumdrops & Lollipops Collection swatches displayed in the order seen in the press release. First up is Lemon Sour.

Finger Paints Lemon Sour
Lemon sour is a yummy yellow creme shade. This is the lightest one in the entire collection. Formula was so-so for a creme shade. Excuse the state of my poor cuticles with this one. I swatched this shade last and it was very beat up by then. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Lemon Sour (in shade)

Finger Paints Lemon Sour (direct sunlight)

Next up is Circus Peanuts.

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts
Circus Peanuts is the shade I got most comments on via the press release post and on Twitter. This orange creme makes me think of an orange creamsicle or orange sorbet. Mmmm….yum! Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts (in shade)

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts (direct sunlight)

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts (close-up)
Moving on, we have Choco Mint.

Finger Paints Choco Mint
Choco Mint couldn’t have received a more fitting name for the shade. I surprisingly liked this mint green creme more than I thought I would. I had trouble with this shade being that it’s more watery for a creme, so I settled for one thicker coat with no top coat.

Finger Paints Choco Mint (in shade)

Finger Paints Choco Mint (direct sunlight)

Finger Paints Choco Mint (close-up)
Next we have Blue Raspberry Taffy.

Finger Paints Blue Raspberry Taffy
I didn’t like this shade when I initially saw it, but once I got the bottle in my hand…it was almost like love. I eagerly tried this one first and it did not disappoint! Formula is more watery than most creme shades I’ve used, but it’s self-leveling. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Blue Raspberry Taffy (in shade)

Here’s a jelly-ish shade, Pop Rock Pink.

Finger Paints Pop Rock Pink
I really wanted a red shade, so I kind of ignored this one initially. I thought a perfect red candy would be something like Red Hots or something, so why no red? When I put this on, I immediately knew that it’s not just a shimmer. It’s actually a jelly with shimmer! And it has a flash of purple shown in the direct sunlight shot. Since it’s a jelly, I just did an extra coat of my usual 2. Shown is 3 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Pop Rock Pink (in shade)

Finger Paints Pop Rock Pink (direct sunlight)

Finger Paints Pop Rock Pink (close-up)
Last up is Grape Gumball.

Finger Paints Grape Gumball
Grape candy, in general, gets no love from me. As a kid, I’ve always associated it with this fever medicine called Tempra. And yep, you guessed it, the flavor is grape. I only liked grape in the form of jams and jellies until probably I went to college. I appreciate the fruit itself. I don’t like wine, so the love affair ends there. Grape Gumball is a purple shimmer that actually does remind me of what the shade of the purple gumball is. The finish reminds me of a glass fleck shade really. Formula for this is a little bit watery than most shimmers I’ve used. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Finger Paints Grape Gumball (in shade)

Finger Paints Grape Gumball (direct sunlight)

Finger Paints Grape Gumball (close-up)
Overall? Love the colors and some actually were better than expected. Formula though is more watery in general. All are more watery than what I expect out of a creme or shimmer shade. They’re self-leveling though, so that helps (while it doesn’t really redeem itself or anything). The cremes are all pastel-ish with the exception of Blue Raspberry Taffy. The shimmers are, well, not really shimmers at all to me. One’s a jelly and the other’s more of a glass fleck to me. That one’s actually pretty bright. These shades will be available soon in Sally Beauty Supply stores and online for $4.99 each.

Pure Ice with Lisa Logan
I didn’t want to post much of the info I got from Fashion Week, but I couldn’t pass this one up. I actually have some of the shades mentioned!
Pure Ice’s Hot Nail Looks Ignite the Runway at Falguni & Shane Peacock’s Fall 2012 Show
Pure Ice by Bari Cosmetics is a line of cutting-edge nail enamels that are always on-trend and in style. As the nail sponsor of Falguni & Shane Peacock’s Fall 2012 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Pure Ice became the go-to for fall and winter’s hottest nail trends. Celebrity manicurist Lisa Logan used a combination of Pure Ice nails colors to achieve a nail look that was rocker-chic and completely unique, keeping in line with the ideals of the Falguni & Shane Peacock brand.

Pure Ice with Lisa Logan Manicure
Inspired by dark, edgy glamour, Falguni & Shane Peacock’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection was based on pops of color worked into tribal prints. Since the Falguni & Shane Peacock brand was created with the philosophy that “life is too short to blend in” in mind, it’s no surprise that the nail look was dark yet beautiful with nails that were long, almond-shaped and painted to resemble flames.

Pure Ice Golden Ticket, Black Rage, Siren, and Bite Me!
Lisa created two nail options for the collection, all utilizing Pure Ice nail enamels, for a combination she described as “really grungy, but couture.” The first option was “Black Rage” (a black shade) as the base of the nail with “Siren” (a fiery red) at the tip, mixed with “Bite Me!” (a shimmery gold) and “Golden Ticket” (a gold glitter) on top. The second option was similar but Lisa used “Siren” as the base with “Black Rage” at the tip with “Bite Me!” and “Golden Ticket” on top. Lisa finished both looks by horizontally using a striping brush to create a look that resembled flames for nails that were bold, unconventional and provocative.
All Pure Ice nail enamels are free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP and contain Bari Cosmetics’ patented salon long-wear formula for a look that will last all season long. Retailing at only $1.99, these polishes are the perfect way to bring looks from the runway your way!
Visit the new blog www.pureicecosmetics.com.
Pure Ice is available at Walmart stores and online at www.baricosmetics.com.
What do you guys think about the mani? When I saw it, I immediately thought of Katniss from the Hunger Games. LOVE!
