Curtain Call: Philosophy Double Rich Hot Cocoa Ultra Rich 3-in-1 Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath

Happy Friday y’all! I know I’ve been MIA for about a week now, but that’s cause I’ve been busy playing Guild Wars 2. I’m actually worse than some of my fellow hardcore gamers…..staying up ’til the sun is actually up and such. Today’s post is a Curtain Call edition. The product up for review at the end of its life is a discontinued product from the popular brand Philosophy. Here’s Philosophy Double Rich Hot Cocoa Ultra Rich 3-in-1 Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath.

At 118.3 ml / 4 fl oz, this size comes in a set I believe. The full bottle is 180 ml / 6 fl oz. The front of the bottle reads “philosophy: 1.2 c. granulated sugar, 1/3 c. hot water, 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder, 4 c. milk, 1/8 tsp. salt, 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract. mix cocoa, sugar, water and salt in a saucepan. over medium heat, stir constantly until mixture boils. cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute. stir in the milk and heat, but do not boil. remove from heat and add vanilla. blend well. serve immediately.” and “award winning ultra rich shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath”.

The back of the bottle reads “directions: apply to wet body or scalp. lather, rinse, repeat. if using as a bubble bath, drizzle a generous amount under running water and enjoy.”

The website described it as the following:

“has the winter weather left you chilled to the bone? before you turn up the heat, pour yourself a double rich hot cocoa bubble bath. philosophy’s double rich hot cocoa shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath will allow you to close your eyes, lay your head back, and cozy up into a warm chocolately dream. this is a self-indulgent, relaxing way to satisfy your chocolate craving. oh, and don’t forget the marshmallows!”

Verdict? Yummy! I absolutely love this product. I really wish that it wasn’t discontinued. It smells really good…..almost good enough to eat! Those that don’t like bath and body products that smell like food should avoid this. The scent is quite strong. I used it mostly as a shower gel and the least as a bubble bath. I think I only used it as a bubble bath once. The formula is very rich and creamy. It created a lot of suds for all 3 purposes. Even though Philosophy products are on the more expensive side, it’s a nice luxurious treat to have once in a while.

Since this is sadly discontinued, your best bet to find it is in some discount stores like ROSS or TJMaxx. That’s the only place I’ve seen that carries discontinued Philosophy products at a discounted price.
