N.Y.C. High Line Green

Hey guys! It’s almost the end of the week again. I can’t wait for tomorrow! I get to celebrate Thanksgiving at work with the company pot luck. I’ll attempt to make an apple pie and some potato side dish. Wish me luck! Today’s post is on a vibrant shade. Here’s N.Y.C. High Line Green.

N.Y.C. High Line Green

High Line Green is a light green creme shade. Formula for this one is pleasant. It’s not as creamy as OPI creme shades, but it didn’t give me any problems during application. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. New York Color Individual Eyes Custom Compact Union Square (Brown Eyes) 938

Hey guys! Here’s another item from my Influenster Beauty Bloggers VoxBox 2012. I’m very familiar with N.Y.C.’s nail polish lines, but not so much with the rest of their make-up line. Here’s N.Y.C. New York Color Individual Eyes Custom Compact Union Square (Brown Eyes) 938.

N.Y.C. New York Color Individual Eyes Custom Compact Union Square (Brown Eyes) 938

The Influenster insert boasts about this product: “This all-in-one compact comes with everything you need for a complete eye look: primer, illuminator, applicator and complementing shadows. With four colors, specially coordinated to intensify and enhance your eye color; you can create a look as individual as you are. Make your eyes pop!”

Verdict? This product comes in a standard eye shadow palette packaging with a double ended sponge tip applicator. The shadows are quite pigmented and rich. It’s quite easy to blend, but the primer isn’t as good compared to the ones I’ve tried from other brands. This makes the shadow dust off from the eyes due to normal wear during the course of a normal day. But for the price you pay, it’s a great deal in my opinion. Just use another brand’s primer and you’re good to go.

This retails for about $4.99 and is available at Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Family Dollar, Duane Reade, Kmart, HEB, and others. For a full list of online and in-store retailers, visit www.newyorkcolor.com, where you can check out what the other shades and products they have!

N.Y.C. Tribeca Silver

Hey guys! Today’s post is on a shade that is suitable any time of the year. I think it suits Fall and Winter the best though cause it’s silver. Here’s N.Y.C. Tribeca Silver.

N.Y.C. Tribeca Silver

Tribeca Silver is a beautiful silver shimmer that goes on easily. The finish is more metallic than shimmer really. Formula is a wee bit on the watery side, but it gave me no problems at all during application. One coat is too sheer. It’s sheer enough to use it over another shade when applied thinly. In the direct sunlight shot, you can see how sheer it is still when it’s more than just one coat. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Water Street Blue

Today’s post is on one of the newer N.Y.C. creme shades that I’m really digging these days. Here is N.Y.C. Water Street Blue.

N.Y.C. Water Street Blue

Water Street Blue is a very pretty bright blue creme. It’s pretty much an all year round shade in my opinion. It could be a little too bright for some in the Winter, but certainly not for me! I celebrate almost any color whenever. Formula is creamy and the creme finish is pretty glossy. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Lexington Yellow

Summer is all but a memory by now, but bright colors are still wearable for a little bit longer. Today’s post is on N.Y.C. Lexington Yellow.

N.Y.C. Lexington Yellow

Lexington Yellow is a pretty yellow creme shade. Formula for this is creamy and nice. It glided smoothly onto my nails. I actually think this shade is really fun and perky. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lipshine Nude York City 582

Okay guys, here’s another item from the Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2011 that I got. I have been trying out some lip glosses lately and I put this one to the test as well. I figured why not if I’m on a roll with these so far. Here’s N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lipshine Nude York City 582.

N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lipshine Nude York City 582

The Influenster insert boasts about this product: “Straight from the city that never sleeps, New York Color’s Liquid Lipshine is uptown style at a down-to-earth price. With pure pigments that create a 3-D gloss effect and vitamin E that provides shine and moisture, this product is perfect to keep lips looking and feeling fabulous this season. Comes in 10 shades from neutral nude, to berries & fuchsias.”

N.Y.C. New York Color Liquid Lipshine Nude York City 582 Swatch

Verdict? This product comes in a standard lip gloss packaging with a doe foot applicator that’s slightly skinnier than the ones I’ve commonly seen from other brands. Formula was good. It applied onto my lips smoothly and I only needed a little bit of product. It left my lips soft with a glossy, shimmery shine with a slight tint of color. There is no stickiness at all compared to other lip gloss brands I’ve used when I put my lips together. It’s slightly stickier to the touch though, just like all other lip glosses I’ve used and tested. There is a light vanilla like scent for this shade I received, Nude York City 582. Not the fake or sickly sweet vanilla scent at all. It lasted for a good 4 hours through talking, some light snacking and sips of water. I would’ve lasted longer if I did none of those. I’d say this is a good buy for the quality and price.

This retails for $2.49 and is available at Walmart, Target, Rite Aid, CVS, Family Dollar, Duane Reade, Kmart, HEB, and others. N.Y.C. New York Color In The Spotlight Swatches

Summer is long gone, so I have some Fall shades for you guys. These are from N.Y.C.’s In The Spotlight Collection I posted about not too long ago. This collection features 3 nail lacquer shades among other makeup items. Even if these have a finish that’s slightly that of a frost, I experienced no problems with brush strokes at all.

First up is Scenestealer Grey.

N.Y.C. Scenestealer Grey

Scenestealer Grey is a beautiful gunmetal shimmer. I loved how it applies onto my nails. Very smooth and gave me no problems at all. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Lastly is Underground Purple.

N.Y.C. Underground Purple

Underground Purple is a bright magenta pink shimmer. It’s a nice pop of color for Fall that I can see myself wearing. It applied on smoothly onto my nails. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. New York Color In The Spotlight Collection

Here are shots of N.Y.C.’s fall shades. I’m excited about the pinkish purple one the most. The grey looks very interesting. The last one is a hit or miss for me. I’ll have to see that one in person for sure. They all look to be shimmers.

EDIT: Swatches here.

N.Y.C. New York Color Black Magic Collection

Another collection I have my eyes peeled for Halloween? N.Y.C. definitely!

N.Y.C. New York Color Black Magic Collection

The shades shown are named Blackula and Pumpkin. I LOLed at Blackula. :) Blackula looks like a black creme and Pumpkin might be a gold metallic shimmer? I’m guessing these will be in a special Halloween display. You can find N.Y.C. products in chain drugstores and mass merchandisers nationwide.

N.Y.C. Long Time Lavender

The last shade I have to feature from N.Y.C. is this lovely number called Long Time Lavender.

N.Y.C. Long Time Lavender

Long Time Lavender is a very light pink-ish shade. It has a twinge of purple, but I expected a bit more of that from a shade named as such. I thought the finish was purely a shimmer, but I detected some silvery-ish glass flecked particles. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

It includes strengthening minerals such a an ultra-nourishing blend of Iron and Calcium that gives nails a smooth, chip resistant surface and strengthens nails by up to 50% in just 5 days. It also has Pro-Vitamin B5 that makes nail up to 40% longer and UV Inhibitor as a sun-protective barrier that makes dull, faded color a thing of the past.

N.Y.C. Persistent Putty

Today’s shade is one that has been released by many brands, one slightly different from the other. Some are lighter, some are darker. Some have a hidden shimmer to it even. It’s a trend that I was made aware of when Deborah Lippmann released Waking Up In Vegas. This shade from N.Y.C. is darker and not straight up putty-ish even when the name indicates as such, but that’s just my opinion. Here is Persistent Putty.

N.Y.C. Persistent Putty

I want to say this shade has some kind of purple in it that makes it darker than what I expect of a shade that’s called putty. Then again, I am used to seeing putty as a greyish white or an off-white with a hint of grey. It went onto my nails smoothly and dries in the time frame expected from a creme shade. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Perpetual Peony

Today, I have a bold pink that is sure to bring a pop to any outfit this summer season. Here is N.Y.C.’s Perpetual Peony.

N.Y.C. Perpetual Peony

What a bright pink! It’s the perfect bubblegum pink creme shade in my collection! I don’t have anything else like it. Everything else in my collection is either lighter or darker. This one’s just right (like how Goldilocks would say). Formula was pretty good. It went smoothly onto my nails. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Gramercy Glitz

Today’s post will be short and sweet since I have to see a few friends in a bit. Another offering from N.Y.C., this is my favorite among the ones I got. Here’s Gramercy Glitz.

N.Y.C. Gramercy Glitz

It’s no surprise that a glitter shade ends up being my favorite. It’s gonna be either that or holo. :) This shade has lots of multicolored glitter in a clear base. I really like Gramercy Glitz by itself, but most will probably prefer it being used as a top coat. I think it’d look great over darker shades. Formula was very easy to deal with and it dries in a short amount of time. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Gramercy Glitz (in shade)

The close-up picture isn’t as clear as I would’ve liked, but this was the best shot among more than 20 that I have taken. I think it’s the glitter that freaks the camera out and doesn’t focus well. Also, notice the slight redness around my cuticle and the stain at the tip half of the nail? Yeah, red shade. It was the previous shade from N.Y.C. that I featured, I ♥ NY . I gotta use base coat even when swatching now. I didn’t think I would need to if I’m just swatching, but that’s the result from just swatching a shade. Only 15 minutes on my nails. Yikes!

N.Y.C. I ♥ NY

Ah, New York……what can we say about such an iconic place? It’s filled with the hustle and bustle of people from different cultures and from all walks of life. It is a city that a lot of people love. I have been to New York a few times and would love to go back someday. This time, do more touristy stuff and such. It’s a huge place and the possibilities are endless! Here is a shade that just screams out love for the beautiful city of New York, N.Y.C.’s I ♥ NY.

N.Y.C. I ♥ NY

Bright and bold, I personally think this color suits the name of the shade very well. :) The big apple….red and luscious! I ♥ NY is a bright, red creme that went onto my nails smoothly. It’s pretty opaque and dries as expected for a creme shade. I find this shade sexy as well! :D Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

N.Y.C. Lingering Lingerie

So what’s up with N.Y.C. lately? I’ve been seeing the same old shades for a while now, but I’ve got some goodies in the mail to show you guys starting with this limited edition shade called Lingering Lingerie.

N.Y.C. Lingering Lingerie

As expected from the name, this is a very light color. Lingering Lingerie is a frosty, delicate pink. It’s not as sheer as I thought. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat. For a more opaque look, 3 coats should give you just barely any VNL. One of the things I love most about this line of nail polish from N.Y.C. is the flat and wide brush that we are so familiar with other brands such as OPI. Application is smooth as heck with it.

N.Y.C. Skin Tight Denim Creme

These pics are from last summer, when I was still trying to figure out how to take pictures and such. Not the best, but it’ll have to do. I’m not sure why the name of this shade has “creme” in it. It’s definitely not a creme shade in my opinion. This is N.Y.C.’s Skin Tight Denim Creme.

N.Y.C. Skin Tight Denim Creme (in shade)

N.Y.C. Skin Tight Denim Creme (in sunlight)

N.Y.C. Skin Tight Denim Creme (close-up)

See? It’s a dark blue shimmer. I used 2 thin coats with no top coat. For $0.99 or so, this is a great red shade alternative for the more expensive brands out there. Formula is nice and smooth. Drying time is speedy for a shimmer shade. You can grab this at various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens.

N.Y.C. Broadway Burgundy Frost

Another cheap red shade perfect for the Holidays is N.Y.C.’s Broadway Burgundy Frost.

N.Y.C. Broadway Burgundy Frost (in shade)

N.Y.C. Broadway Burgundy Frost (direct sunlight)

N.Y.C. Broadway Burgundy Frost (close-up)

This red shimmer is the perfect cheap, red shade for the Holidays. The red isn’t too dark and the shimmer isn’t too silver at all. For $0.99 or so, this is a great red shade alternative for the more expensive brands out there. Formula is nice and smooth. Drying time is speedy for a shimmer shade. You can grab this at various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens.

N.Y.C. SoHo

From N.Y.C.’s In a New York Color Minute Line, I have SoHo. Nail polishes from this line all bear fun names of streets or popular locations in New York City. SoHo naturally made the list. Did you know that SoHo is derived from “South of Houston” with “Houston” being Houston Street in New York City? Today, it is best known to be a hot shopping spot among many other things.

N.Y.C. SoHo

The label on the bottle states “Quich Dry Nail Polish with Minerals” and it does deliver! Drying time for this is pretty fast for a shimmer. This pretty pink shade went on with no problems at all. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat. It would be completely opaque had I done 3 coats instead but I like the light feminine air 2 coats give.

N.Y.C. SoHo (in shade)

N.Y.C. SoHo (direct sunlight)

N.Y.C. SoHo (close-up)

N.Y.C. SoHo (different lighting)

Best of all, this is nicely priced at $1.89 or $1.99 at various retail stores and drugstores. I scored mine at CVS during the summer when it was marked on clerance. It went for $0.49! I grabbed 4 of these. I kept one for myself, of course. I gifted 2 and the last one is one of the 7 naill polishes in the prize for my BCA giveaway. If you haven’t entered yet, you have until the end of this month to. The winner gets a lovely set of 7 pink polishes and a pink buffing block.

N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme

First of the many pink shades I will be featuring throughout the whole month for Breast Cancer Awareness is N.Y.C.’s Classic Coral Creme. I don’t really see it as a coral shade though. Coral makes me think of red. It’s definitely more of a pink and a pretty pink it is!

N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme

It’s such a pretty shade. I can go with a coral pink. It is a pink that’s slightly coral, bursting with silver glass fleck glitter. Just look at the shimmer and glitter! Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat. Top coat might affect the glass fleck effect like it does to glitter and holo polishes (especially holos, no top coat!) but I didn’t test it. I know from experience that top coat does affect the shine of glitter and holo polishes. Drying time is pretty fast. As mentioned above, I applied two thin coats. As long as you leave ample time to dry in between coats, you shouldn’t have much problems with the polish drying completely on your nails in the long run.

N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme (in shade)

N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme (direct sunlight)

N.Y.C. Classic Coral Creme (close-up)

See all that glass fleck micro glitter? It’s so gorgeous, especially when the light hits it. This is my absolute favorite N.Y.C. polish to date! N.Y.C. nail polishes are available in lots of retail, beauty supply, and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens. This particular nail polish cost me less than $1! Lots of drugstores would do BOGO promotions and CVS did earlier this year. They’re pretty cheap to begin with, $0.99, but you can score a sweeter deal for it if you get it on a promotion like what I mentioned.
