Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner

Today’s post is on a Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner.

Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner

These are described as:

  • Sparkling intense color
  • Long-lasting
  • Waterproof formula
  • Easy to use
  • Felt-tip applicator

Y’all know that I am not a huge fan of liquid eye liners. I’ve tried many, many brands with different formulas and applicators and it always ends up in disappointment. My main problem is I like to apply eye liner on my waterline. With liquid eye liner, the moment that the eye liner touches any part of the eye really….it just spreads the eye liner all over the eye area. There was a liquid eye liner that I had high hopes for and it was in an awesome silver shade. But no, my eye is covered with a thin layer of silver liquid eye liner. I scrambled to the bathroom to rinse my eye out. I was bracing myself for such an experience again with these. I am happy to report though that this will be the first liquid eye liners that I am keeping to use! The tip is really fine and made application a breeze. I felt that I had more control with the application this time around. The formula is very pigmented with a super opaque payoff. It dries pretty fast and the finish for all shades are sparkly or glittery with the exception of Black Vinyl. All 5 shades are perfect for day or night, but I’d stick to the basic shades for work. A co-worker friend commented that Sparkling Turquoise and Emerald Glisten are more suitable for outside of work, but this is after I decided to apply a thicker line instead of staying with the thin line I usually go for. It actually took her a while to notice that I had it one when I applied a thin line of it. Prismatic Purple is an in-between shade….I think that you can get away with wearing it to the office for sure.

Staying power is good, but it falls a teeny bit short on the waterproof claim. After 6 hours, there is a little bit of flaking. One thing that would definitely help is not applying several layers or thicker layers of the liquid eye liner. I modified this and didn’t have a problem ever since aside from some wear after 6 hours or so. That is expected in my opinion though. The lid area will always have the grease issue over time and the waterline area will always have general wear being where it is at. Overall, a winner in my book. Swatches shown below are in ascending numeric order of the shades available. For each shade, I applied the liquid eye liner onto my arm twice to show what it looks like when I apply it on my upper lashline or waterline.

Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner

I have swatches and review of these coming up soon. Let’s see how I fare with this since liquid eye liners usually end up as duds for me personally.

EDIT: Swatches here.

ULTRAFINE LIQUID EYE LINER

Sparkling intense color, long-lasting, waterproof formula. The ultrafine felt-tip applicator makes it easy to apply a thick or thin line and dries down to a sparkling finish. Black also available in a vinyl finish!

Hard Candy Shiny When Wet Duo

Hey guys! I’ve had lots of time to test this product extensively. It got my seal of approval, but read on to see if it’s for you or not. Here’s Hard Candy Shiny When Wet Duo.

Hard Candy Shiny When Wet Duo

Hard Candy’s Shiny When Wet Duo is both waterproof mascara and waterproof liquid eye liner in one nifty tube container. Easy peasy, eh? It’s so convenient! The liquid eye liner is contained in the mascara applicator. Genius! Just twist the mascara handle and it’s an eye liner applicator! The back of the metallic blue tube packaging states the following: “SHINY WHEN WET! Waterproof mascara plus liquid eye liner. Patent Gloss Black finish with unshakeable staying power. Swim, workout, cry, dance ’til you drop. It won’t budge. Lashes and liner stays glossy all day!”

What I love about this product? It works as it claimed to as a whole. Mascara and eye liner formula is indeed waterproof. The only time it smudged a little and I started getting the raccoon eye syndrome was at the end of the day when my eye lids start to get oily. We all know what oil does to waterproof formulas, so that’s not the product’s fault at all. The pigmentation is very dark and glossy. I love it. One thing I eventually got used to is the application method with this product. I’ve come to realize a while back that different mascara formulas have different application methods. I’m speaking strictly of the time it takes before you do a second coating. Some other brands dry really fast with a thin formula and you can immediately apply a second coating while others you can’t. This is one of the ones that I have to wait because the formula is thicker than most other mascaras I’ve tried. The eye liner part is where it really shines for me. I’ve always had a hard time applying liquid eye liner. This is the first time I’ve had no problems at all. Zero. It glided on smoothly and the applicator is fine and thin for that. I caked on too much the first time and got some flaking after a few hours, so take a note of that during application.

What I don’t like about this product? None really. Once I know how much to apply and the wait time in between coats, it worked flawlessly.

This item retails for about $7 is available exclusively at Walmart.

Even More Temporary Tattoo Fun with Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens

Hey y’all! Happy Friday! Today is the day I’m getting psyched up for Guild Wars 2. I can’t wait to start in the wee hours of the night! I had the chance to play with the Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens again yesterday and this is the result of that…..

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens Doodle (Cupcake)

This is modeled after a photo holder that me and my co-worker sisters got from a colleague that left a month or so ago. Here is another shot, but this time it’s with Didi’s current mani (which I did!).

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens Doodle (Cupcake with mani)

Like I mentioned in my earlier post here, I am definitely having more fun with using this product to make semi-permanent temporary tattoos instead of using them as plain eye liners. They last a while too!

More Temporary Tattoo Fun with Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens

As seen in my previous post about Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens, these can be used on the body as well. Here’s the latest I came up with when playing around with them on my co-worker friends.

On Renu….

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens Doodle (Mermaid)

On our Didi….

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens Doodle (Heart)

And finally, on me….

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens Doodle (J Initial)

I think I like using these more as temporary tattoo pens than eye liner! ;) I love how easy they are to use. It just glides on seamlessly! I am able to make intricate designs with it due to the fine tip. I think this is one of Milani’s best products out there to date!

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens

I blogged about these a few days ago here and now I’m ready to give a full review on them. They come in 6 shades, are limited edition and available only at Walgreens and Fred Meyer stores as well as online. They are highly pigmented, easy to apply and lasts long on the eyes and other parts of the body. Here’s Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens.

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens

Milani Color Play Felt-Tip Pens (shot to show shade names)

These are described as the following: “Fine felt-tip point for easy application. Water-resistant & long-lasting. Store horizontally for extended product usage.” They applied smoothly onto my eyes and skin. I have no problems with getting product onto the desired parts of my body. They do last a while. I doodled a bit on my wrist and the doodle is still there after a full shower. The only thing I have to watch for is when I apply it on my lower waterline. I have always had a problem with liquid eye liners where the product would hit a watery spot and the pigment spreads onto my eye. I’d have to wash it out and swear never to use such products again. But I didn’t have that much trouble with this one. I feel like I have more control compared to those that I have used in the past, which is great news! You also have some control on how thick or thin you want the product to be applied because of the fine tip.

These retail for $6.99 each. Not bad at all for what you’re getting. When I apply them to my wrist, they come out looking like tattoos! :) Get them while they last! I’ll leave y’all with a cell pic of a doodle I made on my co-worker friend’s arm.

Jordana Easyliner For Eyes Retractable Pencil

Jordana’s hit another home run with these! I’ve been a huge fan of some of their other eye liner lines such as Glitter Rocks and Metal Rocks. Of course, I was hoping I’d love these too so I’ll have all bases covered when it comes to Jordana eye liners. Here’s Jordana Easyliner For Eyes Retractable Pencil.

Jordana Easyliner For Eyes Retractable Pencil

Jordana Easyliner For Eyes Retractable Pencil (shot to show the shade names clearly)

These are described as:

  • Retractable – No Sharpening Required
  • Silky Smooth Soft Glide Formula
  • Excellent Color Coverage, All-Day Wear
  • Convenient & Easy to Use
  • Made in USA

Just like most other Jordana products, these are nicely pigmented and very easy to use. I find these to be a cross between the Glitter Rocks and Metal Rocks eye liners. It doesn’t take much to get the color on, but it didn’t apply as easy to get a good pigmentation like Metal Rocks eye liners. No sharpening required, just twist for more product. These lasted for a good 12 hours on me. It does vary with other environmental conditions such as humidity and stuff because it did last me only about 8 hours on some days. It is slim and easy enough to slip into small clutches as well, making touch-ups a breeze. Swatches below are shown for shades above from bottom to top. For each shade, I swatched the eye liners with 3 even strokes.

Jordana Easyliner For Eyes Retractable Pencil Swatches

These retail for $1.99 each. I’d gladly pay that price and swoop up every single shade I could possibly use. I couldn’t find Seagreen, so that’s the only one missing from this entire line in the pictures. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned that Jordana is also available at KMart.

Mattese Elite Semipermanent Liquid Liner

If you’re looking for the perfect liquid liner, this post is for you. I recently got the opportunity to try this and it exceeded all my expectations out of a liquid liner! Enter Mattese Elite Liquid Liner.

Mattese Elite Liquid Liner

First look, they seem very pigmented. I’m happy to report that they indeed are when put to the test. They have a skinny brush applicator to get the product on nicely and with pretty good precision. Formula is on the thin side, which helps with great and easy application. I simply can’t rave enough about this product. It goes on really easy, just nice and smooth, and it lasts forever. What do I mean by forever? The product never claimed to be waterproof, just semipermanent. I don’t know what semipermanent really means but let me tell y’all, this product will NOT budge at all once it’s on! It would not come off even one bit! I tried water then soap and water and nada. Not even a little bit came off. I was shocked! Pleasantly shocked really and for the price tag it comes with? $12 isn’t that bad at all. Great color payoff and lasting power definitely justifies that. It stayed on for a whole 12 hours with no wear at all. Swatch below shown is for the shades Teal and Pink. I did a thinner then a wider application.

Mattese Elite Liquid Liner Swatches

You can score this beauty in several other shades as well on their webpage or if you live in the wonderful state of New York, you can stop by at any Ricky’s NYC store locations (see here) and see this and other shades for yourself before you buy. Mattese Elite Lip Gloss Wands retails for $12 each before tax.

Jordana INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner

I’ve never used a liquid liner I liked. I draw right on the water line and the liquid liner usually spreads on my eyes due to its viscosity. I recently got the opportunity to try one from Jordana. It’s their INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner.

Jordana INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner

Jordana INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner (shot to show the shade names clearly)

These are described as:

  • Felt-Tip Precision Liner
  • No Skipping or Dragging
  • Convenient & Easy to Use
  • Dramatic Eye Definition
  • Made in Italy

These are nicely pigmented and extremely easy to use. No tugging at all or need to apply pressure. It glided on nicely. It’s just as viscous as other liquid eye liners so I had to adjust my eye liner application technique with liquid eye liners. I applied it right at “outer” waterline (away from the eye, but still part of the waterline). This avoid the liquid liner from spreading to my eye. The felt-tip reminds me of a permanent marker, but it’s actually quite effective on getting product nicely to where you want it. Lasting power is pretty impressive. It survived a whole work day for me without having to reapply it. Swatches below are shown for shades above from left to right. For each shade, swatch on the left is one swipe of the eye liner and 2 swipes beside that on the right.

EDIT: I forgot to address the “stitch” look in the swatch….it’s just how it looks swatched on my arm when I run it. Plus, the picture is definitely more close-up than what people would normally see when they look at you. It doesn’t look like that on the waterline! :)

These retail for $2.99 each. Not a bad price at all for what you’re getting. I still prefer pencil eye liners, but this is a good one to have for those that use liquid liners. You can see in the swatches that they’re very pigmented for just one swipe of the product. This product is available in 2 shades only (black and brown), as shown above. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned that Jordana is also available at KMart.

Jordana 7″ Eyeliner Pencil

Hey all! Today I have another set of eye cosmetic products from Jordana. It’s their 7″ Eyeliner Pencil, available in 10 shades of which 7 are shown here.

Jordana 7" Eyeliner Pencil

Jordana 7" Eyeliner Pencil (shot to show shade names clearly)

These are described as:

  • Rich, Dense Color Resists Fading
  • Line, Defines, Accentuates
  • Stays Put in All Weather
  • Made in USA

Truth be told, I find these subpar compared to Jordana’s other eye liner pencils such as their Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil and Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil lines. It takes a little bit of elbow grease to get it working right. I thought maybe there is a layer of wax preventing it from being pigmented when I tried it out. It didn’t show up much. It applied much easier onto my arm when swatching than my water line though. It does last for a while, but not close to the other 2 lines I mentioned earlier from them. Swatches below are shown for shades above from bottom to top. For each shade, swatch on the left is one swipe of the eye liner and 2 swipes beside that on the right.

Jordana 7" Eyeliner Pencil Swatches

Jordana 7" Eyeliner Pencil Swatches (with flash)

These retail for $1.29 each, so you’re not breaking the bank by getting a couple to just try them out. Your experience may differ greatly from mine, but I’d personally skip over these and get their other eye liners instead. They’re more pigmented, applies smoother and lasts much longer. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned that Jordana is also available at KMart.

Jordana Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil

Today’s post features another one of Jordana’s eye cosmetic product. If you read my previous review on their Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil, I was quite impressed by their eye products so far. This one is even better. Here is their Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil.

Jordana Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil

Jordana Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil (shot to show shade names clearly)

These are described as:

  • Retractable – No Sharpening Required
  • Silky Smooth Soft Glide Formula
  • Creamy, Intense Metallic Shine
  • Long-Lasting, East to Use Shimmery Colors
  • Made in Germany

I find these to be very easy to use and carry. Formula is much smoother than their Glitter Rocks eye liners. Very nice and it went on very smooth over my waterline. It’s very pigmented and wear for this is excellent. I didn’t have to retouch at all during the whole work days (9AM – 6PM) I’ve tried this product, just like with the Glitter Rocks eye liners. This reminds me more of Jordana’s sister company’s eye liners (Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil), but it’s not even close to it in terms of a buttery smooth formula (that one glided on sooooo easily). Swatches below are shown for shades above from left to right. For each shade, swatch on the left is one swipe of the eye liner and 2 swipes beside that on the right.

Jordana Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil Swatches

These retail for $2.99 each, a great price for eye liners! I’d definitely buy these again when I run out. You can get these on their website or at your local Walgreens. A reader mentioned that Jordana is also available at KMart.

Jordana Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil

Today’s post features more goodies from Jordana Cosmetics. Today, we are moving on to some eye products. One of the 2 main eye products I use is eye liner (the other is mascara). I don’t use this on my face everyday because both my upper and lower waterline, also known as lashline, is tattoed on. It has worn down over the years (the lower waterline in particular), so I do use eye liner once in a while. Just not everyday. :) Here is Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil.

Jordana Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil

Jordana Glitter Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil (shot to show shade names clearly)

These are described as:

  • Retractable – No Sharpening Required
  • Breakthrough Glitter Formula
  • Long-Lasting, East to Use Shimmery Colors
  • Made in Germany

I find these to be very easy to use and carry. Formula is not as smooth as other eye liners I’ve tried (such as their Metal Rocks Retractable Eye Liner Pencil), but that’s mainly because of the glitter formula I think. I will admit I was wary with these having glitter in them. I was concerned about glitter getting into my eye and such. But my worries were put to rest when I tried them out. They glided on okay. As I mentioned earlier, it’s not as smooth as other eye liners I’ve used before. I had to glide it a few times gently over my waterline. Once it’s on, it’s quite pigmented and you can definitely see the glitter. Wear for this is excellent. I didn’t have to retouch at all during the whole work days (9AM – 6PM) I’ve tried this product. Swatches below are shown for shades above from left to right. For each shade, swatch on the left is one swipe of the eye liner and 2 swipes beside that on the right.

Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil

Today’s post is about one of my favorite makeup items that is not nail polish. :) Aside from nail polish, I have a deep love for eye liner, mascara and certain lip products. With that said, I have been passively looking for my “holy grail” beauty products and thought I had found it for eye liner when I stumbled on Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil eye liner. They come in a wide variety of colors and are waterproof. Really? Sign me up! I was gifted a full set of minis (9 shades) and another set of a medium length size of 5 shades. I started using them but found that they didn’t apply in a creamy fashion on my lash line. I found the eye liner seem to require a firmer hand in application than I would like, so I didn’t use them much after that.

A few months later, I stumbled upon a pencil eye liner from Rimmel. It came free with the waterproof mascara I was purchasing. As soon as I used it, I was in love! It was a bittersweet moment as I thought about my Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner and how they were more expensive than this awesome drugstore brand product. Even though it wasn’t waterproof, I compared it side by side with the Urban Decay one (in black) and Rimmel gave me a darker result. It required less pressure in application for the look I want.

I was recently given the chance to try Milani’s Liquif’Eye eye liner and all I can say is WOW!

Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner

Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner (closer shot to show shade names)

These are described as “an extremely smooth pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner that delivers true color payoff in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear” on the back of their packaging. They applied on smoothly and gives the slick, sophisticated look of liquid eye liner. I am not kidding! The wear is very impressive for my expectations of the product. It lasted a good 8 hours, my whole work day! Now of course, it isn’t as vibrant as it was when I started the day with it. I checked once in the middle of the day, during lunch. The wear was minimal. As the day goes on, we all know how the oil production on our faces go. I suspect most of the wear is attributed to that. But yeah, I swatched all the shades that I know of that Milani has available for sale currently along with my Urban Decay 24/7s. The only one I don’t have a close match from Urban Decay is the silver. The first one includes a swatch of the Rimmel eye liner I have (Rimmel leftmost, UD in the middle and Milani on the right). Milani is the rightmost one in all swatches.

Rimmel, Urban Decay 24/7 & Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Lliner Swatches

Rimmel, Urban Decay 24/7 & Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner Swatches (changed lighting)

You notice that Milani swatches are darker or more pigmented. It is finer too in the case of the last 3 shades. You can probably tell in the product pictures that the last 3 shades differ from the first 5. It gives a finer application and it is supposed to propel automatically. Cool! However, I prefer how the first 5 applies. I feel like I don’t need to use as much pressure with those. They glided on so easily. I pranced around with these colorful lines on my arm for the world to see. Thankfully, no one thought it was weird enough to say something or give me funny looks (that I know of at least!).

Here it is after a few hours and me intentionally smudging it by running my pointing finger over it vigorously.

Rimmel, Urban Decay 24/7 & Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Lliner Swatches (rub and wear test)

You can see the evidence. Milani swatches are darker than Urban Decay still, so it’s telling me that the lasting power is the same (since the Milani swatches were darker when we started this), if not better, when compared to Urban Decay. And here is the day after shot.

Rimmel, Urban Decay 24/7 & Milani Liquif'Eye Eye Liner Swatches (day after AFTER the rub and wear test)

Yes, I fell asleep that day and woke up to that. Hands down, I found my “holy grail” for eye liner. Milani, this is a winner.

Shades from this collection should be available in drugstores nationwide. Also check other known Milani retailers.
