More Milani Crystal Gloss

Hey guys! I broke all my nails recently, so there won’t be much swatches for at least another week. But this gives me time to focus on other non-nail polish items I have to share with y’all! I actually featured these in an older post, but there are 3 more shades just released. I’ll copy and paste the text of my previous review since it remains unchanged. Here’s Milani Crystal Gloss.

More Milani Crystal Gloss

These are described as:

  • A range of fantastic mega-shine colors
  • Leaves lips feeling soft and supple
  • Sponge-tip wand applicator
  • Made in USA

These are very easy to carry and use. It is small enough to slip into even a small clutch or wristlet. The applicator is the spongy tip one that most lip glosses come with, but it is not doe foot shaped. It spreads the lip gloss nicely over my lips. The formula is slightly sticky – perfect consistency to stay on the lips. There are a lot more choices than shown above, so be sure to check them all out and pick the shade you want. It sells at an okay price point. It has a light vanilla scent. These don’t last very long, only a few hours, but that’s expected for me with a lip gloss. Swatches shown below are for the following shades from left to right: Cotton Candy, Fascination and Precious. For each shade, I dabbed the lip gloss on a bit to show what it looks like clearly.

More Milani Crystal Gloss (direct sunlight)

These retail for $5.49 each and should now be available at select CVS stores.

Curtain Call: got2b Spa Body Butta Up

Today’s post is another segment of Curtain Call. The product up for evaluation and review is the got2b Spa Body Butta Up. I got this a long time back when I saw it at Walmart I believe.

At 400 ml / 13.5 fl oz, this is a good buy really since it lasted me a long time. This should be available at various retail and drugstores if the got2b Spa line is still in production. It comes in a screw top round plastic tub. The front text reads “honey almond shea butter” and “nourishing body butter”. The back of the container reads the following:

“Bring dry, thirsty skin to a whole new level of softness with this rich & nourishing treat for your entire body. Skin essential emollients, sweet almond & golden honey are combined with nourishing shea butter to help hydrate, condition & leave skin feeling touchable & delectably soft. Your skin will just drink it up. Smile… this butter treat is no dream!

DIRECTIONS: Massage butta up lavishly over your entire body, paying special attention to extra dry, rough areas like elbows & knees.”

got2b Spa Body Butta Up

Verdict? I love it. While the formula is thick, it spreads out nicely onto my skin when I massage it in. I find it a little too thick for my liking for summer really, but this is perfect for winter months. My skin is definitely not remotely dry at all in the winter with this body butter. A little goes a long way and the scent is just so yummy! If you like the scent of almond, you’ll absolutely love this product. A whole tub lasts me for months (remember, a little goes a looooong way!). A definite thumbs up from me.

I haven’t seen this line of got2b anywhere recently, but I know for sure that I have purchased items from this line at Walmart in their beauty and personal care product aisle.

Helm’s Deep Franken

Hey guys! Today’s been a little bit of an emotional day for me with my co-worker friends. But that’s okay! We just take things as they come and move on from it. I decided to show you guys another franken of mine that I made recently. I named it after a location in The Lord Of The Rings. The shade just made me think of it really. Here’s Helm’s Deep.

Helm's Deep

Helm’s Deep is one of the frankens I have zero problems with when creating it. I had a vision and it came to life on the first try. I was pleasantly surprised. The regular and hexagon silver glitter in the concrete grey base reminds me of the castle that the characters in the second book and movie, The Two Towers, valiantly strives to defend. The dash of silver glitter particles reminds me of the glimmer of hope that Gandalf brings when he arrives with Shadowfax and a thousand infantry. In a moment of ultimate despair when the enemy has penetrated the fortress, good still prevails. I remember shedding tears at this part of the book and the movie. It was a little chunky during application, but I love it to bits that I am never parting with this. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Helm's Deep (direct sunlight)

This is not a holo or glitter franken of mine, but I think this is my favorite one to date for sentimental reasons. Now, y’all know how much I love holos and glitters….they’re 2 of my favorite types of nail polish aside from duo or multichromes and flakies. I just love that series so much. :)

Curtain Call: Aussie 3 Minute Miracle

Today we have another segment of Curtain Call. The product up for evaluation and review is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. I managed to get these with my Extra Care Bucks (ECB) from CVS to get more ECB with this purchase.

At 236 ml / 8 fl oz, this retails for $4.29 at CVS and is similarly priced at various retail and drugstores. It goes on sale from time to time and combined with coupons from your weekly Sunday paper or through tearpads in the store, this can essentially comes close to being free. The whole squeeze tube bottle lasted me for almost 4 months. I don’t use this everyday, maybe about once a week. With my long hair, that’s pretty good. The front text reads “deeeeep conditioner” and “Deeep conditioning for damaged do’s”. The back of the tube reads the following:

“Super deep conditioning for a seriously simple fix to dry, damaged hair. It’s your own little miracle. DIRECTIONS: Work into clean, wet hair. Use the next 2 minutes and 45 seconds to think deep thoughts about your day. Rinse with warm water, then cool water, then go!”

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle

Verdict? I love it. This does the trick in providing the deep conditioning my hair needs about every week. My hair feels so soft and so smooth after using this product. No tangles at all, which I love. The scent is coconut in nature. Take note of that in case you are not a coconut scent fan. A little goes a long way, so this can easily last you past 4 months if you have hair shorter than mine (mine is up to the middle of my back). I find that my roots don’t need much of it, so I start application from the tips working my way up to the scalp.

This product can easily be purchased in various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens. It is also available online at various websites that carry beauty and personal care products.

Blue Jell-O Franken

Hey y’all! Today’s post features a recent franken of mine. I see all these talk about jellies on Twitter that I had the urge to create one. I named it Blue Jell-O because it looks just like blue jell-o! :)

Blue Jell-O

Blue Jell-O is a bright light blue jelly shade. I didn’t measure the proportions at all, so this one doesn’t have a recipe unfortunately. I threw in some large silver hexagon glitters, but the base wasn’t suspending and they sank. I didn’t mind though. I actually prefer the shade without the silver hex glitters. Shown is 3 thin coats with no top coat.

Blue Jell-O (in shade)

Blue Jell-O (direct sunlight)

Blue Jell-O (close-up)

I’m gonna try a dark blue jelly next I think. :)

Curtain Call: Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Body Lotion

Today’s segment of Curtain Call covers a product of one of my favorite scent from Bath & Body Works to date. Here’s my take on Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Body Lotion in Butterfly Flower.

At 8 fl oz / 236 ml, this retailed for $10.50 at Bath & Body Works stores and online. It goes on sale from time to time and you can score this for less with coupons they send out occasionally. It’s a good buy especially when they have their semi-annual sales. That’s when I stock up on these! The whole bottle lasted me for about 3 months. The back of the tube reads the following:

“Our Signature Body Lotion just got better. Fortified with Aloe Vera, Grape Seed Extract and vitamins C and E, it glides on easily and evenly to condition and hydrate skin. This non-greasy, sheer formula absorbs quickly to leave skin soft, smooth, and beautifully fragrant.

Smooth over body to moisturize and lightly fragrance skin with our exclusive Butterfly Flower, a vibrant fragrance inspired by the natural elegance and playful femininity of a butterfly garden in full bloom.”

Bath & Body Works Signature Collection Body Lotion

Verdict? I love this product a lot. It smells great and moisturizes really well for Spring into Fall. I would switch over to their body butter of the same scent for Winter. A little goes a long way and the scent lasts for hours. I use the body spray in the same scent as well. While it’s pricier than other brands of body lotions you can find in various grocery or drugstores, it’s a nice luxurious treat for your skin. And again, when you get this on sale or with their coupons it’s actually worth it. The sad thing about this is I *think* this scent has been discontinued, which I am very sad about. But there’s always body lotions of various other scents to choose from.

This product can easily be purchased at Bath & Body Works stores and online where available.

Milani Pure Love Limited Edition Collection

Here’s some news about the upcoming Milani Pure Love Collection.

“It includes Eyeshadow Trio 03 True Romance and 857 Gray Tux, 858 Wedding Dress and 859 Bridesmaid Nail Lacquers, all of which are Limited Edition. This limited edition collection is exclusively available at select Walgreens for the month of April.”

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m intrigued with the nail lacquers especially! Look at the press release picture! Wow!

Sally Hansen Dune

Hey guys! Today’s a slow day in general and I thought this shade is fitting for it. Here’s Sally Hansen Dune.

Sally Hansen Dune

Dune is a very pretty nude shade with every so slight gorgeous shimmer, seen especially under sunlight. If it wasn’t for the shimmer, it wouldn’t have a place in my stash. I adore it. Formula gave me no problems and it dried in the time expected. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani Fast Fuchsia

Hey guys! Sorry I have missed a few days in posting. There was crazy tornado weather going at this part of the country and I didn’t feel like posting much during these times. But today I have a new shade from Milani from their High Speed Fast Dry One Coat Formula line. Here’s Milani Fast Fuchsia.

Milani Fast Fuchsia

While it is almost opaque in one coat, I needed more than that for complete coverage. Fast Fuchsia is a pretty bright fuchsia pink creme. Formula is really nice and self-leveling. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Curtain Call: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo & Conditioner

Here’s another segment of Curtain Call, where I provide an honest review at the end of the life of a product I’ve been using. Today we have shampoo and conditioner from John Frieda. This is their Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo & Conditioner. I managed to get these with my Extra Care Bucks (ECB) from CVS to get more ECB with this purchase.

At 8.45 fl oz / 250 ml (bonus size of 30% more is 11 fl oz / 325 ml), this retails for $6.99 at CVS and is similarly priced at various retail and drugstores. It goes on sale from time to time and combined with coupons from your weekly Sunday paper or through tearpads in the store, this can essentially comes close to being free. The whole tube lasted me for almost 3 months. With my long hair, that’s pretty good. The front text reads “builds fullness at the roots; strengthens and conditions where needed for silky, full-bodied hair” and “boosts volume in all 3 dimensions“. The back of the tube reads the following:

“Instantly boosts volume in all 3 dimensions: fullness, thickness & lift

Luxurious Volume line builds fullness at the roots. thickens individual strands and increased lift for noticeably thicker, full-bodied hair with up to:

110% MORE FULLNESS*
50% MORE THICKNESS*
90% MORE LIFT*

(Shampoo) Luxurious Volume Full SplendorTM Shampoo strengthens hair from the inside out, plumps up hair and fills in damaged areas for healthy volume that starts at the roots. (Conditioner) Luxurious Volume Full SplendorTM Conditioner targets damaged areas, providing weightless conditioning only where needed for full-bodied style with a soft, silky feel.”

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo & Conditioner

Verdict? I like it. While I’m not going to rush out and claim that this is my holy grail shampoo and conditioner, it does what it claims to do. It cleanses my hair well and I do feel like I get more volume after using this. The scent is pleasant and refreshing; a typical shampoo scent really. Conditioner works really well. I apply it to my ends first then even it out throughout my hair. I avoid getting conditioner on my scalp just as a preference. My scalp doesn’t need much conditioning really. If I am out and it’s on for a good price, I’ll grab it. Other than that, I’ll still keep my eyes peeled for something new to try that would wow me.

This product can easily be purchased in various retail and drugstores such as Walmart, Target, ULTA, CVS, and Walgreens. It is also available online at various websites that carry beauty and personal care products.

Sally Hansen Sorbet

Hey guys! Today’s post is on a shade that I find surprisingly very pretty. Here’s Sally Hansen Sorbet.

Sally Hansen Sorbet

Mmmmm……yum, yum! This shade makes me think of creamsicle and peach smoothies. Sorbet is a pale orange with a hidden shimmer. It is achingly beautiful, even though it doesn’t really suit my skin tone, and formula for this is great. It gave me no problems at all during application. Shown is 2 thin coats with no top coat.

Milani White On The Spot

Hey guys! Today’s post is on a shade that I don’t own many of. Here’s Milani White On The Spot.

Milani White On The Spot

White On The Spot is a white creme shade. To get full opacity, one coat was simply not enough. However, a good white shade is hard to find and this definitely takes the cake on all the white shades I’ve tried from various brands. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Kiss Nail Dress Cocktail

What’s my favorite product from the Influenster Love VoxBox 2012? It’s a tie between the Ghirardelli Gourmet Milk Creamy Devotion Bar and the Kiss Nail Dress in Cocktail. Y’all know I love food, so that chocolate bar was a given. I’m all for trying new beauty products and the print I got is just too cute. So how did the Nail Dress fare?

Kiss Nail Dress Cocktail

The Influenster insert boasts about this product: “Introducing Kiss Nail Dress, the ultimate nail fashion for tips and toes! Just peel, apply, and shape for a manicure that lasts up to 10 days. Available in 18 different styles!”

Kiss Nail Dress Cocktail (in action!)

Verdict? I absolutely love this product! The box opens to reveal 28 jeweled strips that are super easy to use. Complete instructions are available at the back of the box. It applies literally in minutes. You first figure out the correct nail pieces to use, swipe nail beds clean with alcohol or polish remover to remove any oils or residue, firmly apply the pieces after removing from the sheet, and fold down over the edge and file to remove excess. One thing I did differently is to utilize a nail clipper to actually clip off most of the excess. It made application so much faster and easier for me. When using on fingers, align the rounded side of the strip to the cuticle and the square side if you’re applying these on the toes. I haven’t removed them yet, but the instructions indicate that you have to just slowly peel it off to remove.

The print I got is called Cocktail. It’s a pink zebra print with silver rhinestones outlining the print. General feedback from these vary. The girls, Supa Roopa and Renuky loved it. They thought it was very cute and girly. They were also impressed that it was so easy to apply. Pobe and Toby both noted that these made them think of Braille when they felt it on my fingers. The finish is bumpy due to the rhinestones. It’s not really a rough bumpy like with glitter shades, but rather a bumpiness that’s not coarse at all. Vu noted though that while it looks nice it can make some guys think that the user is a bit high maintenance, which makes a lot of sense. They would’ve thought that they’d have gotten it specially done and that it took a lot of time and effort (and much pricier than a regular mani, no doubt!) to achieve that look. Looking at their offerings, I believe they do have non-textured prints available as well. There’s something for everybody with the variety they offer.

As long as you follow the instructions carefully, it works great and should last for up to 10 days. Each Kiss Nail Dress retails for $6.99 and is available at all major drugstores and mass retailers like Walmart, CVS and Walgreens.

*Products featured here are complimentary to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program.*

Pure Ice Silver Mercedes

Hey guys! Today’s my birthday and I am officially out of my 20′s. :) It’s not bad at all and I’m taking it in stride. I chose this shade to feature today cause it seems fitting for the occasion. Silver also reminds me of bullets in particular and the best times I’ve had recently has been at the shooting range. Here’s Pure Ice Silver Mercedes.

Pure Ice Silver Mercedes

Silver Mercedes is a bright metallic silver shade that I think is edging up to be my favorite silver ever so far. There’s brush strokes, but it’s not like applying a frost at all. Application was painless and it glided onto my nails ever so smoothly. It’s stunningly beautiful. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Rapid Cherry

I haven’t been around much these days cause I’m still going through some stuff, but I’m still here once in a while! I hope you guys stick around for stuff I have to post here. Today’s post is a beautiful red. Here is Milani Rapid Cherry, one of their new shades for 2012.

Milani Rapid Cherry

Rapid Cherry is a bright, bold red creme shade that is both fun and classy. Formula for this is decent and it actually is a one coater. Other shades in this line didn’t quite make the one coat formula claim, so I was quite pleased with this one. Shown is one coat with no top coat.

Sally Hansen Black Diamonds

Hey guys! I’ll keep this short and sweet on this super busy day! Today’s post is on Sally Hansen Black Diamonds.

Sally Hansen Black Diamonds

Black Diamonds is a pretty glass fleck-ish black shimmer. It’s really pretty and I’m one that don’t like black polish shades in general. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Milani Yellow Whiz

Hey guys! Continuing with my chipper mood, here’s another cheery shade for y’all. Here’s Milani Yellow Whiz.

Milani Yellow Whiz

The name makes me cringe a little, but the shade is actually pretty nice. Yellow Whiz is a bright yellow creme shade. It’s not quite a one coater for me like the line boasts, but I wouldn’t consider it sheer at all. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Sally Hansen Air

Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great Sunday so far. I woke up looking forward to the work week badly cause of something that happened to me recently, but I have great friends that saw to it that I get the support I needed from them. For that, I am eternally grateful and in a much chipper mood now. Today’s shade is one that is from a line of Sally Hansen’s that I haven’t tried before, their Smooth and Perfect Color Care line. Here is Sally Hansen Air.

Sally Hansen Air

Air is a pretty pale blue shimmer. It reminds me a lot of baby blue really. It’s a very delicate color perfect for this season. Formula was great and it dried pretty fast. Shown is 3 thin coats with no top coat.
