Orly Witch’s Blue

Orly Witch’s Blue is an interesting shade. It’s a deep blue with shimmer that is more apparent in the bottle than on the nail. Is this a trend or something? Shades that look shimmery and nice in the bottle but this magnificence doesn’t appear so when applied on the nails? I’ve been encountering a lot of this type of polishes lately. The only good thing about this particular shade is it doesn’t do it that much. But yes, it still does a little.

Orly Witch's Blue

It’s really, really pretty in the bottle. Just look at it. It has a hint of silver on some angles. It’s not too bad on the nail but I really wanted to like this shade more and I just didn’t. I wanted what I see on the bottle to transfer right on my nails, but as many other polish fanatics know….can’t judge a book by its cover with nail polishes.

See how pretty it is in the bottle? It’s pretty on the nail still but not as pretty as I expected it to be. The pictures were taken under direct sunlight and shows the shimmer better than if it were in indoor lighting. The formula is smooth and gave me no problems at all. Drying time is just right, not too slow or fast. Shown in pictures is 2 coats with no top coat.

Orly can be purchased at your local beauty supply stores such as Sally Beauty Supply or ULTA. It is also available in drugstores such as CVS, but take note that variety is sparse. They usually carry a few of their core shades and whatever latest collection is out. I’m not sure if it’s available at other retail chains such as Walmart or Target. Various nail e-tailers carry Orly too, especially shades from past collections.

  2. It’s nice that this one at least stays blue on the nail and doesn’t go black like so many do.

My CVS is crazy random about which Orlys they have–stuff will show up months and months after it’s been released but some things never show up at all.

    • I completely agree on both points! My CVS still has the FOIL collection and there are more pretty-but-goes-black-on-the-nail polishes than I originally thought there was!
